Jacklyn and the rest of the girls turned to where the voice came from. Out of the trees came a middle-aged yellow and pink cat with long fur. She too had a white coat like Ran along with a bag of , which caused Jacklyn to assume some sort of relationship between the two. It was soon proven by a quick line Ran soon said: "Mother?"

Ran's mother wasn't too surprised by Ran's approach to the dragon, which confused everyone since normally when a child repeatedly does something wrong with knowledge that said thing is wrong, the parent gets more angry with each attempt.

"Oh Ran, I know you mean well, but you really must perform operations on larger mythical beasts with an adult rather than with your small group Ran's mother said while shaking her head with reminders of the many times Ran went to big beasts and looking at the other four girls.

Charlie then asked Mrs. Hibiki, "Excuse me, but did you know about this?"

"Well, I knew she was going to perform some operations, and I'm not against her doing lessons on her own," Mrs. Hibiki said, reflecting on Ran's skills with healing animals, "but I have to draw a line sometimes, even if it will continue to be crossed."

"I've kind of given up on reminding Ran, since she always seems to ignore no matter how big the beast."

"Mother, you do know that I can understand any animal in existence."

"Yes dear, I know, and I know that your ability makes them more calm, but even animals have preferred treatments like us."

Ran's mother soon asked the four girls, I take you all are friends with my daughter?

"Well, Sarah's been with Ran longer than the rest of us, but we are Ran's friends," Laura explained to her.

Jacklyn then asked Ran's mother, "Mrs, Hibiki, I don't know how often you get asked this, but do ever wonder why your daughter has a special ability?"

"Why when she was a younger kitten yes," Mrs. Hibiki said to Jacklyn, "However, now I don't question it anymore, magic works in mysterious ways sometimes."

"Forgive me, miss, but what's your name?"

"It's Jacklyn Reed."

"Well Miss Reed, I'd prefer it you call me by my first name: Nodoka."

"Nodoka?"

"I see, you're not from here aren't you miss Reed?"

"Is it custom for adult mages to call their kids by their surnames," Jacklyn asked curiously.

"No, only when we meet someone new though," Ran explained, "Most of our schools professors are called by their surnames as well, unless a family descendant is present in the school as well."

"I see," M'lady Doctor Nodoka," Laura said understanding, "So family is a major component in Mystrallia."

"Why thank you my dear."

I'd like to know your name as well as the chiwawa's, but I must get started on my operations. Don't worry, once we get back to the mainland I'll know your names."

Nodoka then begins to work on the injured dragon. The dragon had an injured wing and was unable to fly properly. "I'm sorry my dear, but I can't fully heal your wing," Nodoka whispered to the dragon. The dragon had its wing stitched, but Nodoka couldn't restore the dragon's ability to fly in one day.

The other big animals Nodoka had to inspect were a magical polar bear with a star on its forehead, another dragon only with no wings, and a creature with powers related to the earth.

Once the animals were taken care of, Nodoka and the rest of the girls had to return to the mainland. There they were taken to the Animal Ark where Nodoka suspended Ran's veterinary duties for a few hours in advance the next day. Before Nodoka went in, she then asked Laura and Charlie for their names before she went inside with Ran. After introducing themselves, Nodoka asked if they and Jacklyn would be interested in staying for dinner with Sarah. Jacklyn told Nodoka that it was a nice offer, but they politely declined. Nodoka accepted their decision and went inside to join her daughter and Sarah who were already inside.

Once the girls had returned to the forest, they found the Shooting Star waiting for them since it hid from Nodoka Hibiki when she appeared before the girls. They then got on the broom, and returned home. Once the girls were home, The girls were recounting their experience with Ran and Sarah, more specifically Ran's transformation. "I still can't get over the fact that Ran triggered the poster and transformed into a human," Jacklyn told her friends. "I can't get over it either," Charlie said with excitement, "But it was amazing when she transformed and played her heart out." Jacklyn agreed, but still couldn't get over the spectacle. Jacklyn wondered if the Miochi family's magic had somehow managed to get transferred to the poster whether intentionally or not. The girls then returned to their houses.

That night, Jacklyn was awake still pondering over how the Power of Song worked since it seemed to respond to mages not of the Miochi line. "Tomorrow morning, I'll ask Sarah and Ran if they know anything about the Power of Song and how it works."
