I can't save you?
Chapter 8th
Doctor Grace Confalone was getting too familiar with walking down this hall of late with visiting Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. She wasn't pushing it with going to his room. However, she had found herself in front of the door before knocking.
She was able to hear his usual response. When she walked in the lights were down low with Gibbs asking the doctor to turn them up for the session.
"Are you alright Gibbs?" she asks before placing down her grey trench onto the small chair in the corner of the room. She had looked up to see his vitals on the computer screen. They seem to be normal for the moment. "So what's up with you?" she said with a tone that was neutral for the moment.
"In order for me to get back to work with my job position at NCIS I need to be talking with you, doc?" he replied with using the remote to raise the bed higher to see.
"Okay. What did Director Vance have to say for when it comes to your suspension?" she commented.
"From what I understand from SECNAV and other agencies. There had been pressure from those involved with Marcie's story about me and the truth about the dog-ring and with me punching the leader in the field. They want me back on the job as soon as possible." Gibbs will say with a sense of anger in his demeanor.
"Are you happy about this Gibbs with going back to work after all of this time staying at home?" good question on her part to see how well her patient does with answering it.
"I need to get back to work in order for me to protect Marcie that are those trying to go after her in regard to her story that was withheld by the U.S. government with the location of my first wife Shannon and my daughter Kelly." taking in a deep breath into his lungs to relieve some of the tension he was feeling.
"And the only way you can with your finance to protect is with being back to NCIS and your team?" she said to alert him further.
"Yeah, I do Doc," Gibbs said straight out with the answer.
"Why? You can be dangerous as a rogue with your brainpower of getting to the enemy as a long-range sniper Leroy Jethro Gibbs?"
"Thank you for the compliment. But I need NCIS anyways having been with them for a very long time. No matter how you may see it, doctor. My team is very important to me and right now being suspended like this is proving to me that they are very capable as a whole?" he cries out from his hospital bed.
"Okay, Gibbs. Let's change it up slightly. Tell me about Marcie Warren?" she started with this one instead.
"What would like to know doc?" he stiffened up slightly with his body and the stress.
"How do you think she does as an investigative reporter for the Washington Post?" she says.
"When I first started to read her work. I was and still am very impressed with the articles she had given to me."
"Interesting! I have read her stories in the newspapers and found it straight and truthful for the most part Gibbs. And no doubt why the United States government had no choice to pull her story on your first wife Shannon and Kelly."
"And for which Marcie had told me that she was pissed as hell having found out from her editor that the story had been pulled. I for one was glad in a way that Shannon and Kelly's location was safe and sound."
"Does she know how you felt about this particular situation Gibbs?" she responded with the question that has him up in arms for when it comes to his first wife Shannon and daughter.
"She knows Doc. I am just glad that I was able to get to know my daughter Kelly better now that she is living in Orlando, Florida with her husband and two of my grandchildren." smiling lighting up his expression.
"Look at you, Gibbs. You're so proud of your daughter Kelly for what she was able to do with contacting you letting you know that your first wife and daughter were still alive?" she said.
"I was rather shocked when she walked into my hospital room a while back. It had me some time to adjust to the idea that my daughter was still alive and very beautiful as well and smart to boot."
"And what about Marcie does she feel threatened at any time?"
"Yes. For when it comes to Shannon. I told Marcie that I don't love her but I do care. And I have no intention of getting back to her since she is happy with her husband Alex Anderson. It's my daughter Kelly that I need to be close, even though finding out that Marcie is carrying my children since she is 54 years old."
"15 years younger than you?" She didn't mean to hurt her patient.
"Yeah, doc I am for which I don't care at all." taking in a deep breath into his lungs.
"Good for you. My husband David is eight years younger than me, Gibbs. I love David a great deal and he will do anything for me within reason." she commented.
"When is he supposed to be coming back from California and the conference for the Pentagon?" Gibbs said.
"Two days and counting. When he gets home I am hoping that I will be able to take off a few days to spend with him before going back to work again."
"Good for you. I just hope to god to be getting out of here soon and back to work." he cried out with hoping and praying that it's going to happen.
"That is going to be up to Vance, Secnav, and other agencies to place you back into your job position?" she responded.
