Sandy found herself waking up more than a few times during the night from terrible nightmares. She'd jolt herself awake only to be met by Static's moans of protest as he clenched onto her tighter as he continued to sleep. All her nightmares focused around Shadow and him walking out on her and the kids only to never be heard from again despite all her efforts. Looking down at Static sleeping naked next to her made her realize her nightmares likely weren't far for the truth. Despite how badly the past year had been with him, she couldn't help but continue to love him even as she found herself laying with another man. Her marriage was officially over. It pained her to know she was the one to put the final nail in the coffin of their relationship by cheating on him.
She laid back down and embraced Static as she tried to push off her current onslaught of depression. The male next to her whimpered a bit in pain due to his earlier beating followed up by his carelessness to tend to his wounds as they made love. Sandy ran her fingers through the fur on top of Static's head as she watched him sleep. "Would things with him end up the same way they did with Shadow?" She wondered as she watched him sleep somewhat peacefully. She nudged herself closer to him to try to find comfort and sleep. Unfortunately for her she had to put up quite a struggled to attain the satisfaction of either.
The next morning the female squirrel found herself waking to the sounds of her two young children crying from the other room. Sadly, it was a welcome change from being startled awake due to unpleasant dreams. Static continued to cling to her in a half-awake stupor as she attempted to leave the bed to tend to her babies. "Static let go." She groggily demanded. "I gotta feed the kids."
Static finally let go after she drug him nearly off the bed with her. He looked up at her and yawned as she threw her clothing from the other day back on. "Do you need any help?" He questioned while stretched his arms out only to stop midway and whine in pain.
"Nah. I got it." She reassured him as she left the room.
By the time Sandy had finished feeding the first child Static had started to make his way into the living room. He slowly limped over to the couch and took a seat next to her smiling as he watched her start to feed the second child. He reached out and touched her face as she continued with her motherly task.
"Ya should be taking it easy." She scolded him.
"I am." He argued before he started to hum as he ran his finger tips down her arm and then back up again.
She went quite as she tried to focus on feeding her daughter instead of the fact, she was starting to get aroused by him touching her again. How on earth was he able to get such a rise out of her so fast? She started to get angry with herself again for her unfaithfulness. Even if Shadow did want a divorce, and after last night he likely would demand it, they were still legally married.
"I was thinking we can set up the kids in my music studio."
Sandy looked at him surprised as she had become lost in the prison of her own mind. How long had he been talking to her as she was lost in thought?
"Pardon?" She quested while shaking her head a bit in an attempt to clear it.
"The kids room." He repeated as he smiled larger as he patted the suckling little girl on the head. "The room I have my music equipment in is a good size. I'll move everything into the basement and then we can set it up for the twins."e
Was he really planning on moving her in that fast? She smiled at him nervously. "That's real sweet of ya Static, but I don't want to be a burden on ya."
The purple furred male rolled his eyes. "What burden? The kids need a room 'cause I don't wanna share ours with them. That's our own little private retreat." He winked at her as she stared back at him in bewilderment.
"I mean ya don't have ta move us in." She rearticulated.
"Yes, I do. I'm not going to have my soon-to-be wife living away from me. Or our kids for that matter." Static looked down happily at the two squirming children who were now both on the floor.
Soon-to-be wife? Our kids? Sandy was very leery of what he was saying as he likely had no idea what he was trying to sign up for. "I guess we can try and see how things go." She reluctantly agreed. After all it wouldn't be a very good idea for her to be all alone during her now impending divorce.
"Great!" Static grabbed onto her hands as his faced beamed with joy. "Let's get cleaned up and go shopping for an engagement ring!"
Sandy face turned to that of terror as she looked at him and then down at her wedding ring that was still laying on the ground to the side of the couch. "Static…" She calmly stated while closing her eyes and taking in a deep breath before looking at him again. "Let's just see how things go for a while before we go too crazy. Ok?"
Static's enthusiastic demeaner was now replaced with disappointment, but he quickly improved his mood and nodded his head in agreement with her. "Alright. Whatever you think is best." He then leaned over and kissed her lightly before letting out a sigh of pain.
"How about we start with some Aspirin?" She suggested helped him lean back into the couch.
Static ginned in a bit of embarrassment. "Who am I to argue with a smart lady, like you?"
Sandy kissed his forehead and then got up to retrieve the painkillers for him. She wasn't sure why he always uplifted her mood so easily, but she was especially thankful for it today.
