Chapter 7: Creating a Story

As expected of a seafaring superpower, the kingdom of Iolcos was busy even in the early morning.

Archer had always been a morning person, he had been waking up early to prepare for his journey across the sea. Making good use of the time was something that had been constantly on his mind since he had arrived.

However, he was pleased to see how many people were working in the morning. It was surprising to know how their working hours started from the first rays of the sun. He didn't expect people to work so hard so early.

He knew they worked hard, but that didn't take away from the surprise that it was exceptional that they started so early.

Archer thought they would at least start later after sunrise.

His eyes rolled over some of the vendors as he walked along the harbour. There were people of all kinds, from the young to the old; there were also a lot of people shopping at this hour.

Fortunately, there seemed to be no sign of that unpleasant odour, but it was only a matter of time before that irritating smell would make its presence known again.

That aside, the main reason Archer remained on the dock was because he was looking for a boat to travel on.

Where to?

The truth was that even Archer did not know, he just wanted to leave. He had identified the possible places where he could go, but he wasn't sure what decision to make.

He looked ahead as he walked and managed to recognise the figure of Meleager in one of the nearby vendors, although he did not see exactly what he was buying from this other vendor.

Even so, Meleager seemed undisturbed.

Archer ended up approaching the man, though he sensed that it may have been because of his confusion regarding his future travels.

After all, Archer wanted to get a more solid opinion before setting sail, and Meleager seemed like a person willing to talk to.

Meleager heard some footsteps approaching him and shifted his eyes to Archer with some attention. The man cocked his head in amazement as he identified the figure, smiling radiantly as he approached the tanned youth.

"Oh, Archer, it is good to greet you again! I didn't know you were such an early riser." Meleager greeted as he gave Archer a friendly pat on the back.

Although Meleager was inviting, Archer did not like the fact that he was treated with such attachment.

"It's good to see you, Meleager." Archer grimaced "But please don't do that again, I don't like it."

Meleager blinked from the young man's response. Still, he could respect those wishes, he supposed Archer didn't like to interact in such a friendly manner.

It's not as if he could blame him. The two had known each other for only a day.

"Very well… What are you doing here anyway? I thought you'd be sleeping at some inn. People usually make the most of their time there, more so when they don't have enough money." Meleager replied.

Archer got a twitch in his eyebrow as he glared at Meleager for the disguised insult. The son of King Oeneus took a step back as he saw that the young man was somewhat annoyed by his comment.

"I'm a very early riser..." began Archer as he tried to calm his inner-self. "To answer your question, I came to the dock in order to set sail on a ship, but... I don't know exactly where to go, that's why I'm talking to you. I wanted to ask you for some advice on where to go."

"Huh? Really?" questioned Meleager unanticipatedly. "I didn't expect... well, I guess you at least have several places in mind, right?"

"Yes, I was thinking of Lemnos or Lesbos, though I'm not really sure, which is why I want to hear the opinion of someone who may be familiar with those kingdoms.

Meleager placed his hand to his chin as he pondered. "I am assuming that it is not to have 'adventures' like so many naive heroes are used to." he said.

"Of course not," Archer replied dryly. "I'm looking for something. I can't tell you more."

"I see... if so, then I recommend that you head for Lemnos. It is much safer as Lord Hephaestus resides in hiding there. At least you will have much better protection than on Lesbos." Meleager honestly replied.

Archer nodded as if in agreement. The truth was that Chiron had taught him much about the lands in Greece. Though... The Centaur had not been very clear about all the areas; he had merely spoken of them briefly.

The only thing that remained the same in all the cities was the worship of the Gods, however, all the cities had different Gods that they worshipped. But, the worships of Hestia and Zeus were the ones that were performed personally in the family as opposed to the others.

Naturally, there were prayers and worship directed towards all Gods, but personal worship was only directed towards the two of them.

Chiron had explained to him that this applied to all cities. He couldn't entirely understand why.

It was something of an unwritten universal rule.

It was most likely because people worshipped these two Gods the most, and also because they were possibly the strongest Gods on Olympus. That was Archer's guess at least.

When he wanted to ask Chiron the reason, the Centaur had only advised him that he would find out on the way.

Chiron could certainly be quite cruel when he wanted to be. A teacher is supposed to resolve his students' doubts, not leave them in suspense.

"Those were my thoughts as well, looks like I'll have to go with it." Archer said with apparent calmness.

In actuality, Meleager felt his opinion was quite unnecessary. But...

"If you're going to head to that island make sure you behave, Lemnos is a pretty peaceful and quiet town, easily one of the best places I've visited. Yet... I didn't really stay there for long."

"No need to worry about that," Archer shrugged and smirked. "At least a thief won't steal my belongings."

Meleager gave a cynical smile. "Oh, that's out of the question. With your clear lack of wealth, no one will target you. You can rest assured."

Archer and Meleager stared each other challengingly at the light-hearted contest they were sharing; yet their friendly smiles were never wiped off their faces.

Honestly, Archer liked the fact that Meleager could answer his taunting remarks with his own attitude. Many people would be insulted or even annoyed by his words, but this man was having a good time.

"Hey, Meleager..." began Archer with a sort of fulfilled expression. "I like you..."

Meleager broadened his smile. "I can say the same, you certainly are rather interesting... I hope your strength is not just in your words."

Archer wiped away his smile and regained his characteristic stoic face. Enough games had been played, he had to start looking for a ship in the direction of Lemnos.

"It won't be, but for now I'm retiring. I hope that in some distant time we can meet again, I'd like to get to know you in a more suitable situation."

"My feelings are the same, Archer" Meleager smiled happily. "Lord Poseidon will definitely bestow his blessings on your little journey," he joked.

Archer began to walk slowly down the harbour as he left Meleager behind. The man simply watched the figure of the young man walking off into the distance, however, he could hear a very soft murmur that was clearly addressed to him; which shocked him.

"Blessings? No thanks, I don't want to give unnecessary work to the God of the seas".

Meleager's eyes widened at those words and he finished watching Archer disappear into the dock with his shock still lingering. Those words resounded with such silent force that they caused a great ephemeral tension in his body.

Shaking his head from side to side, Meleager regained his composure after Archer was out of his sight. He didn't understand what he had felt at that moment, but it was something very... Intense? Powerful? Strong?

That particular comment was not like the others, but was filled with coldness and indifference, almost as if the Olympic Gods did not matter to him at all.

Even if Meleager did not know the reason for Archer's action, it was rather awkward.

There was conviction in those words, however, empathy dominated. He only hoped that the young man did not have some kind of bad relationship with a God...

Meleager had never met anyone who acted like Archer had, especially since the God of the Seas, Poseidon, was important to all people.

In general, all Gods were important. As such, he found it somewhat surreal that someone would talk about them with such… Impassiveness, it was too unreal to witness.

Meleager snorted for a moment and let those thoughts disappear from his mind, maybe he was being too paranoid... At least he hoped to see him again some other day.

Besides... He liked him and had unexpectedly interested him. He was certainly looking forward to seeing him again, he hadn't met such a reliable person for a long time.

The members of the Argo were quite interesting themselves, but the difference was that they all spoke to him with too much formality and respect. It was nice to meet a person who did not follow those principles.

The vast majority of people knew him as a mighty hero who was "The Prince of Calydon and Pleuron" and that bothered him.

At first, Meleager wanted to be a hero for personal reasons, however, that thought changed as he went on adventures and learned from his travels. As a result, Meleager developed some mild contempt for the fame he had earned.

People only noticed the 'prince' or the 'hero', while the 'human' was forgotten by all.

He became a hypocrite. The very fame he had earned from his battles now irritated him. If anyone heard his thoughts, they would probably take it as a bad joke.

Many people would kill to be in the position of a renowned hero like him, and yet... Meleager didn't like it.

That's why meeting Archer was such a breath of fresh air, not only because he was such an interesting person, but also because he didn't treat him like royalty. Not to mention that he could joke honestly without seeming like a "prince with manners".

Archer was one of the few people who noticed "Meleager, the human" and not "Meleager, the hero", which is why he hoped to see him again; maybe even buy him a drink as a comrade-in-arms, but that would probably not come to pass.

The Argo was due to sail in a few more weeks, he did not know if he would be able to find him another time, though he was sure he would survive the odds. The tanned youth did not seem like the kind of man who gives up easily.

With that new thought, Meleager smiled satisfyingly, he knew only time would tell. At least he hoped Archer wouldn't inadvertently and stupidly anger the God of the Seas.

Anyway, that was no longer his problem.

"Boy, I am not allowed to transport people to Lemnos on this occasion. Unless it's urgent, I can't let you on the ship. Besides, we're about to set sail."

The ship's Captain was no pushover, which made matters worse as Archer was desperately trying to get on the damn ship by any means possible.

While he was a tall, burly man, he didn't really intimidate anyone either. What internally maddened Archer though was that this ship didn't allow anyone on board, but according to the damn symbol, the ship was a transport ship heading for Lemnos.

"Do you at least have the money?" The Captain asked sharply "In that case I can allow you to go up… But the orders from Lemnos were quite strict..."

Archer frowned but held out his hand as he dropped some Drachmas into the Captain's hands. For many reasons the Captain was somewhat unsure of the decision he had made.

Unfortunately, there was no turning back.

"Is that enough or do you need more?" Archer asked sarcastically. The Captain's eyes narrowed at the disrespectful tone.

"Yes, that's enough money. Do not try my patience, young hooded man," the Captain pointed out with a frown. "You can come up, I just hope you have some use for the crew. The sea has been very rough these last few days, Lord Poseidon must not be pleased."

"Don't underestimate me," Archer brushed past the Captain as he entered the ship. "I can handle unwanted threats, all I want is for everyone to do their job well. I don't want to end up stranded in the middle of the of Ocean."

The Captain huffed at the young man who had entered the ship, he unquestionably did not like him, and he looked relatively young; he would let him pass just this once.

As the Captain was about to board his ship, a distant shout caused him to look carefully in its direction. Immediately after the Captain identified the figure, he cursed his luck again.

He was a bluish-haired young man. His tall, stocky body showed that he had clearly received previous training; he also looked to be older than the young man himself.

"Sorry for the inconvenience, can I get on the boat?" the blue-haired man asked cordially. "I have enough money. I promise."

The Captain let out a long sigh as he tapped his temple in thought. He clearly was vexed with the whole situation. But, if both young men had enough money and could be useful, then they could get on the ship.

"Just get in..." muttered the Captain as he slumped his shoulders, the young man smiled somewhat self-centredly at being accepted and entered the ship without further ado.

The Captain entered the ship without making any more fuss and headed towards the crew. He could see both young men folding their arms in different parts of the deck, but for his own good he paid no attention to them, he had more important things to attend to.

"Listen up!" shouted the Captain authoritatively. "Two young men are embarking with us. I know we're not allowed, but I'll let it pass!"

The whole crew seemed to agree. However honestly, it was to be expected, all the people here had brought some people their way before, it's not as if two young men like that meant much.

"Having said that, everyone take your positions," The Captain ordered "Begin preparations for sailing, we will set sail when the Sun is at its peak!"

The crew understood his words immediately and moved to their positions to begin the process, the Captain himself also stepping away to begin preparing.

Archer folded his arms as he watched, it was fascinating to him to observe the preparations being made. He never imagined that managing a ship would be so complex.

The blue-haired young man was watching silently in the same way, so Archer glanced at him for a few moments as he inspected him. It seemed that the ship's Captain had accepted someone else into the crew.

Certainly their clothing did not look ordinary, in fact it looked like a rather traditional battle gown.

"What are you staring at?" The blue-haired young man questioned sharply as he noticed Archer's stare. "I know I'm powerful, I don't need you to flatter me."

The self-centred, superior tone of voice disgusted Archer. Just hearing that tone... He knew he couldn't tolerate it.

The blue-haired young man grinned self-centredly. "As I see that you are excited to meet me, then I must manifest my superiority by introducing myself. My name is Periclymenus, son of King Neleus. Kneel before my strength, you worthless warrior!"

Archer took on an annoyed expression as he noted the great pride with which he presented himself; in truth, Archer was more astonished by his attitude than by his being the son of a King.

Besides, Archer had never cared whether he was the son of a King or not. It certainly meant he had to behave a bit more, but he wouldn't if the person was a complete jerk.

And this 'boy' seemed to be such a case.

Archer could put up with slight self-centredness, however, blatant self-centredness was another thing. He didn't care who he was, if he had that attitude, then he would undoubtedly maintain hostility towards this fellow called Periclymenus.

"I never asked for your name." Archer replied indifferently. Periclymenus seemed surprised at being questioned and scowled angrily.

"I am ordering you around and if I tell you to do something, you'll do it. The only person who deserves my respect here is the Captain of the ship and that is only because he runs it. Everyone else is not worth my time."

Periclymenus approached Archer with a face full of rage and anger, yet Archer's indifferent gaze lingered at the clear disrespect. His eyes remained sharpened.

Both eyes met fiercely. Periclymenus wanted to show his superiority somehow and Archer wished this idiot would learn to mind his own business.

If Archer had not yet made a much bigger mess on the ship, it was only because he retained some respect for the vessel.

Archer cynically smiled. "I have no reason to follow your orders, you have not proven yourself worthy of my respect."

"You scum, you're so pathetic, I don't even need your name to know you're weak. I am sure you won't be remembered by anyone when death comes for you." Periclymenus clicked his tongue and turned his back on Archer as he walked away.

Archer narrowed his eyes and let out a long, weary sigh, he detested these sorts of things with all his being. People who behaved that way were possibly the ones he disliked the most, not just because they thought they were worthier, but because they were too proud.

Pride was something that could be exploited by one's enemies, son of a king or not.

Of course Archer himself acted somewhat arrogant and sarcastic most of the time, however, he only did so in specific situations, bluffing from time to time. That didn't mean he did it with every person he met.

That way of acting was more or less a façade that had unintentionally rubbed off on him. He didn't behave with such arrogance unless the situation called for it.

Archer snorted and moved to one of the edges of the ship; thankfully, the Ocean greeted him happily. If truth be told, the Ocean was a little brighter and choppier, yet still majestic.

It was a spectacular sight, the foaming crashes of waves gave him a calmness that he rarely felt.

However... He was a bit nervous. The Ocean was an unknown realm, and a thousand strange things could appear out of it. It was true that it was partially "safer" than land, but that didn't mean it was any less frightening.

The very thought of the depths of the sea made Archer uncomfortable.

For his own sake he had to put those thoughts out of his mind, he just hoped he wouldn't find something worthy of the Underworld on his journey.

With the calm sound of sea waves, the ship set sail for Lemnos.

The ship's Captain, Adelphos, expected trouble when he decided to let the tanned youth on board.

His appearance did not give him any confidence and his attitude even less. He was not used to dealing with young people and so he was waiting to see how they would behave.

"Damn, this tastes awesome!"

"By Zeus! This food is absolutely divine, not even my mother's food can compare!"

"Hey kid, you aren't some kind of God in disguise? I've never tasted anything so good!"

Needless to say, all his doubts vanished quite dramatically.

Adelphos could not process how this boy was able to cook so bloody well. At first he had been hesitant to leave the food supply from the boat for him to cook with, but then he was able to savour a meal worthy of the gods.

There was no better way to describe it… It was perfect. Possibly the closest meal to perfection he had ever had the joy of tasting.

Archer warmly smiled from a small table. "Not at all, I am no god. I'm just someone who knows how to cook."

"LIAR! In all my life I've never met anyone with this good a meal!" another crew member spoke up. "I'm sure even the Gods don't cook this good!"

After that comment, much laughter pursued throughout the vessel, the generosity of the people was moving and Archer was undoubtedly enjoying himself.

"Hey, scum!" called Periclymenus from another small table as he took a big gulp of wine. "This meal has made you worthy of a better title. From now on, I will call you slave!"

Archer smirked. "I'll take your words to heart when you stop being drunk."

"What did you say?"

More laughter continued to spread as the crew relished their meal. Seeing all these people like this made Archer satisfied in some small way and that was a good thing in his own eyes.

Even if the pathetic Periclymenus was drunk, that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy these subtle moments. It's true that he wanted to quickly reach Lemnos, but rushing too fast wasn't going to be beneficial.

"Let us raise a toast to the Gods, and to this majestic and divine food they have blessed us with!"

One crew member roared and raised his glass to toast, the boisterous noise was too sudden for Archer. It was enrapturing how everyone was so animated and overjoyed just to have had a good meal.

It was unanticipated that they all reacted this way to the food he had prepared. He just didn't expect that his cooking could have such a positive effect on people.

By his own self-imposed standards, He believed he could be better in this area, which is why he had been so startled that the food was liked by the entire crew.

After the crew finished their noisy toast, people began chatting about many things. The vast majority seemed to be about past stories or situations that got out of hand.

The crew's alcohol tolerance was somewhat reached as the late hour work and fatigue drained them.

All the crew members had been working since early in the morning, so it was normal for them to act in this way to de-stress and rest.

When Archer finished his meal, he looked around for a few moments at the entire crew and smiled at the pleasant atmosphere. The alcohol may have overpowered the sailors' five senses, but at least it allowed them to be more relaxed and eager than usual.

He didn't really have much to contribute at the moment, so the young man stood up and quietly left the small table to admire the night sky for a while.

The full Moon and the shimmering waves of the sea followed, giving him a sublime peace and tranquillity. This would normally be dismissed as nothing to many people, yet for Archer it was... Rewarding.

Relaxing this way was calming. True, today's world was fierce and wild, but to be able to admire a common sight freely was unique and special.

A gentle smile was plastered on his lips as he continued to watch the shifting water from the boat, even if the sea was a realm full of mysteries and frightening oddities, enjoying the company of other people was precious.

Archer wasn't as antisocial as he seemed, but it was true that he didn't like to socialise with people. Preferring to act alone a thousand times over.

But apparently, he noticed that he would have to slightly change.

Being helped by other people was not bad, so he would have to be a bit more cooperative in the future, just as he was when he cooked for the crew.

To be honest, the eagerness to help with the cooking had been exciting when he saw the vast amount of ingredients the ship was storing.

As Archer was admiring the Moon, sudden footsteps brought him unexpectedly out of his thoughts.

"Hello lad." The Captain's voice reached his ears. Archer turned and was curious as to why the man was on deck, he thought he would be enjoying the wine with everyone else.

"First off, I must thank you for making the food and by the same token, I must apologise for the way I treated you in the morning. I'm not very good at handling young people your age."

Archer shook his head cordially. "There's no need to apologise. I guess I wasn't on my best behaviour either."

The Captain scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment. "That may be so, but that does not detract from the fact that I am the eldest. I should be setting an example for you... But all of that aside, my name is Adelphos and as you may have noticed, I am the Captain of the ship." The Captain introduced himself as he offered his hand in greeting.

Archer shook his hand and gave a smile "It's an honour .My name is Archer and I'm an...
Adventurer. Well, more or less a hero too"

Adelphos was surprised that such a young person would be an adventurer, although in all honesty he had seen worse.

However, that did not trivialise the fact that he was a person in his youth.

"Aren't you young to be an adventurer or hero? I've known a few in the past of similar age, but I've always found it curious how people so young can fight so fiercely."

The burly Captain looked up and down as he analysed Archer's muscular body. Discomfort suddenly came over Archer; having a hood on didn't mean he liked the analytical stare.

"You certainly have quite a shapely body, it makes sense that you are an adventurer." Adelphos answered his own question.

Archer uncomfortably shrugged. "I suppose so..."

Adelphos took one last look at his body, and then looked Archer in the eye. "I know it's not for me to ask, but... Why on earth didn't you stay to toast with the crew?"

For a moment, Archer was silent as he thought about his answer. There were certainly reasons as to why he had done that, the main reason being that he thought the crew deserved to have fun on their own.

"I think your crew earned their break. Still, there's no particular reason why I left. I just wanted to see the Ocean on the night of a full moon." Archer replied as he looked out over the scenery.

Adelphos had observed the luminescent night sky hovering over the sea in the same way, many times. To some extent the Captain could understand that Archer had not seen this kind of scenery that often.

He often observed that young men would usually admire a lot of things that adults didn't, which was probably the downside of growing up.

"I see... I guess I understand, it is a wonderful view after all."

Archer nodded. "Yeah, I'm also taking advantage of the fact that that jerk Periclymenus isn't bothering me. He's been doing that all day and it's getting really irritating."

The Captain laughed. "It's a bit funny, you look almost the same age but you don't really seem to like him."

Archer sighed "He is... Arrogant. I can put up with a lot, but not this. On top of that, he's the son of a king, so I can't answer him the way I want to."

"Oh, that's right! You did mention that he was the son of King Neleus, didn't you? That's quite impressive! To have the founder of Pylos as your father must be wonderful, but I agree with your point of view, at first glance he seems very self-centred."

"As I was saying, he's too proud, I can understand that because he was raised as a member of royalty, but that doesn't mean I have to like him. I'm just putting up with him as best I can."

"At least for now you can rest easy. That boy didn't seem to be very tolerable to alcohol, ha ha ha!" Adelphos laughed loudly as he remembered the young man's inebriated face; Archer himself also got a small chuckle as he recalled that expression.

"Heh, that drink did me a favour. I can see why everyone considers it a 'sacred' drink." Archer suddenly joked, drawing another laugh from Adelphos.

A pleasant little hush fell over as they admired the vast world in front of them. Archer was pleased to have boarded this ship.

It was definitely not a bad decision.

"Boy... Why are you out on an adventure, to become a hero?" asked Adelphos unexpectedly with mild curiosity.

Before answering his question, Archer was silent for a moment as he pondered his words. The ship's Captain simply stared at the young man waiting for some kind of response.

"... If I had to give a reason then that would be... Doing the right thing..."

Archer's serene and calm voice startled Adelphos. He had not expected that the youth would carry himself so calmly as he dictated those simple words.

"Isn't that a rather ambiguous reason?" the Captain asked somewhat hesitantly as he moved his head from side to side.

"In essence, it's true that it's ambiguous, but that is what allowed me to choose that reason. I have more reasons to follow this path. However, the main one is to do the right thing," Archer honestly answered. Adelphos could tell that there was a conviction in those words.

Although to be honest, Adelphos didn't understand what the young man was referring to.

While that statement sounded somewhat worthy of "heroism", the way he said it let you know that Archer wasn't looking to be "heroic" at all.

It was modest.

Many people with the same number of springs would be thinking about "obtaining fame and riches" or things of similar magnitude. They would not be thinking about "doing the right thing".

What is the "right" thing to do anyway?

"I will not question any further, your motives are your own," Adelphos said with respect.

"Well... Now that you're done with your questions, it's my turn." Archer spoke with a smile, drawing a small look of astonishment from the Captain's mouth. "For what reason did you become a sailor?"

After hearing the question, the burly man put one of his hands to his chin and thought about his answer. When the Captain finished that process, he smiled and looked Archer in the eye.

"Freedom," Adelphos broached dryly.

"Freedom?" questioned Archer.

"Yes, freedom. When I was little, my family wanted me to go into a job of their choice. My mother wanted me to be a salesman, while my father wanted me to be a farmer. As you may have discerned, neither of those two jobs appealed to me."

The Captain paused as he smiled with some nostalgia, it was quite clear that he was remembering those times.

"At that time I felt overwhelmed, you could say it was a constant struggle between my mother and my father to know what I was going to do and I didn't feel content with it... Or at least I did until I got to know the high seas."

"I don't quite understand what you're referring to," Archer interrupted.

Adelphos looked at him and smiled again. "In the beginning, I had an expression like you boy. The Ocean gave me a feeling of freedom that was indescribable, that's why I became a sailor. Unfortunately, over time that feeling was lost, and I just went about my work as I normally would. Obviously I enjoy it, but... That feeling will never feel like it did the first time... I think that's why looking at you makes me wistful."

The honesty with which Adelphos spoke let anyone know that he was satisfied with what he had decided; that he did not regret his decision at all.

"Freedom... Sounds like a good reason to live, though it's still a bit bitter one... After all, the reason you're a sailor won't be around anymore," Archer softly murmured, almost as if he were a little crestfallen.

"Uh? Wait a minute, you're misunderstanding my message" Adelphos raised his voice as he surprised Archer. "There may be things I will never feel again, but that doesn't mean I can't experience new things. That's what I love about being a sailor! Every day you get to discover new things on the high seas!"

Archer blinked in surprise. "So... You say you like being a sailor, because you discover new things at sea?"

Adelphos gave a big smile as he stretched his hands upwards. "Exactly! If there were no new things in life, then we would have no purpose at all! It is discovery and conviction that keeps us reveling the world of the unknown! If the world wasn't that way it would be very uneventful."

If Archer was surprised on the inside, then on the outside he didn't show it. But that didn't mean he wasn't amazed and astonished by his point of view - he hadn't expected a ship's captain to have such a way of looking at things.

He could understand that, after all, his ideal of 'doing the right thing' was a way to be content. But, Archer also had personal motives in that ideal, not just 'doing the right thing'.

He was doing the right thing to see 'carefree people' so he could be 'satisfied'. But in his time spent during this era, Archer had gained curiosity and excitement, something he had never felt before in the past and which had begun to manifest itself.

It was essentially the same as the Captain had mentioned.

There was curiosity about the unknown, excitement about the challenges and dignity in the ideal he stood for. But what enabled those things was the great acclaimed 'freedom' he had long desired.

As if it were his own extension of everything, Archer purely smiled. It was not a cynical or mocking smile as he was used to, this time it was a calm and serene smile; a smile that he had not shown the Captain before, and that actually surprised him.

"I understand... It's a formidable point of view."

In truth, the smile on that young man's face was inspiring, the Captain did not know that such things could have such an effect on him. Though for today it was enough, there were a few small things he had to attend to before sleeping.

"For today, we are done with this conversation, it was nice talking to you my boy; I hope we can meet tomorrow without any complications. The Sea is unpredictable after all". The Captain waved goodbye as he started to walk down the deck.

Archer watched as the Captain quietly went about his business, at least he could say that it was enlightening to talk to the man.

Besides... His way of looking at things was something special; to some extent, even causing Archer to open up slightly at the unusual thought.

A rather peculiar Captain indeed...

The next day was unexpected.

Although yesterday the Ocean was calm and peaceful, now there were only grey clouds and choppy waves stretching across the limitless water. There was not a single space that was not agitated.

Even in the unusual weather, the sailors had their work to do.

Archer had his attention vaguely set on the Ocean to keep an eye on it. No one knows what might happen in the face of the unknown.

Periclymenus himself was paying attention to the waves with a frown on his face and with his sword in hand. It was very strange to see that fellow behaving seriously all of a sudden.

"The waves are pretty rough... Definitely not a good sign". The Captain muttered with concern as he looked out at the Ocean. "Apparently Lord Poseidon is in a bad mood."

The Captain then moved from the rail, shifting his gaze to Archer. "Boy, be on your guard, if there are any disturbances or concerns let us know, we're still some time away from being in an area close to land.

Archer nodded. "Understood, count me in."

Adelphos looked at Periclymenus the same way, but he was looking at the Ocean in such an intensive way that the Captain ended up leaving him alone without saying anything.

Archer watched out of the corner of his eye as the Captain disappeared from the deck, to tell the truth, the whole atmosphere was rather peculiar. From his own experience he knew that nothing good could come of it.

Archer watched the turbulent waves and the grey clouds with a frown. He certainly had the feeling that there was something perplexing and strange in the air.

Although it could also be that the God of the Seas was simply angry. The Gods had peculiar ways of acting and behaving when they were upset.

He just hoped that on this occasion that would not happen.

Periclymenus' body suddenly tensed and his arms began to tremble, Archer's own body suddenly bristled; his sense of alertness warned him that something very strong was approaching towards them at considerable speed.

"This feeling... I know it!" Periclymenus stirred as he shouted. "A sea monster is closing in on us!"

All the crew members suddenly tensed and became quite nervous as they stopped what they were doing to focus on the current problem.

"Bloody hell! Just now when we are nowhere near land!" The Captain yelled in despair. "Which direction is it approaching from?!"

Periclymenus looked in every possible direction from his position and could see nothing. However, Archer moved his eyes to the part of the ship he could see and noticed a long black shadow advancing towards them.

"It's on my side of the ship, left side!" called Archer. "It's approaching fast! It will arrive and attack us any moment now!"

"All hands, try to position the ship which is most favoured by the wind! Move!" ordered the Captain in alert as he hurried off.

While all this was going on, Periclymenus already had his sword drawn.

Archer visualised the weapon and put it away in his own inner world. It was glamorous in looks, but it was not in a good time to be thinking useless thoughts.

Besides, there was nothing really important about the sword.

"You scum!" called Periclymenus "What is approaching us?"

"It's a slender physique and its length is long." Archer replied quickly.

"Tsk! I see... A damn sea serpent! What damn good luck. They are strong enough to sink whole ships with their body".

All of a sudden, Periclymenus approached Archer's spot and leaned on the railing in an attacking position with his sword, seemingly ready to jump into the water.

Archer was undoubtedly shocked by this.

"What are you doing? If you jump you'll just be food for that thing. I could tell with my eyes it had a pretty thick hide." Archer chided with some annoyance, his very fangs showing his slight anger as he spoke.

"Quiet, I'm not asking for your opinions! If you are not being helpful, help the crew change the ship's course. Whatever this thing is, is too fast!" Periclymenus shouted for the last time as he prepared to jump into the water.

The great sea serpent was about to lash the ship with all its might, it was only a matter of seconds before that happened.

Just as the snake's body appeared on the surface, Periclymenus leapt into the water with his sword in hand and swam swiftly into the depths; beginning a fight he clearly could not win.

But in spite of everything, Archer stood still, his face shadowed. He did nothing, he summoned nothing, he just stood there, stopped dead in his tracks.

And after a few more moments, steeled eyes savagely shadowed his face, his gaze was filled with anger, and mana began to exude with vigour and imposing force around him.

Periclymenus and the sea beast were having a fight, or rather, the sea serpent was using him as a punching bag through the depths of the Ocean. Although his strength was great, he could not handle a beast of such calibre with the extra weight of his sword in hand.

The son of King Neleus clung with unrelenting force to the sea serpent as it let loose threatening screams. The lack of oxygen was claiming Periclymenus, but at that very moment, the great serpent leapt towards the ship.

"Damn!" Periclymenus could only cling helplessly to the sea serpent as he flew with it in the air, however, there was something he could not calculate when he decided to put his plans to the test, and that was...

Archer.

A great volley of arrows was fired at the beast causing it to screech in pain and recoil. Allowing the ship to evade in time to get a few metres away from the sea monster.

Periclymenus went flying through the air and landed on the deck of the ship with a thud. It was a somewhat comical sight, however, Archer could not make fun of the guy in this situation.

"What the hell was that?" moaned Periclymenus as he writhed in pain.

When the blue-haired young man looked up, he could see a sharp-eyed Archer glaring at the enemy. Those simple grey eyes were filled with so much intimidation that they even made Periclymenus startled.

He also had a large, extravagant black bow in his hands.

Periclymenus shook his head to remove senseless thoughts out of his mind, it was not a good time to be thinking about anything unnecessary.

"Hurry up and start wrestling with that beast again. I won't be able to penetrate its skin in any ordinary way. I don't even think an ordinary sword will be enough damage or kill it," commented Archer with a scowl, the clear voice of command made Periclymenus growl in anger.

"You dare to give me orders!"

"Listen!" lectured Archer angrily, pushing Periclymenus back. "That thing you see over there is going to kill us if we don't do something. You decide if you want to live or if you want to die because of a personal grudge."

Both young men stared at each other provokingly, though in the end, Periclymenus released a grunt in frustration; reluctantly accepting that he had to do as the tanned young man dictated.

"Tell me what I'm going to do!"

"Go and fight that thing again. I need to find an opening I can use," Archer scowled. "I'm sure it will jump back if it manages to discover a weak spot, then I can kill it with your help."

Without another word, Periclymenus left his sword in place and jumped back into the water to box with the beast with his great strength, the weapon he was carrying at this point was a hindrance to the situation.

"Boy!" the Captain shouted from the other side of the ship. "How are you holding up?"

"Partially controlled. I can kill that thing if the other guy holds out long enough," Archer replied as he raised his bow and projected a couple of arrows.

If the Captain was surprised by that, he didn't show it. "The sea serpent is fast, I don't think we can get away without taking any damage!

"I see..." muttered Archer. "Then... It looks like I'll have to use something much better. "

While all this was going on, Periclymenus kept trying to suppress the snake through the water while grabbing its body and squeezing it. For a second, the serpent wanted to bite him, however, the young man grabbed its mouth with his huge arms and suffocated it.

Periclymenus was no ordinary person in strength, his power was of the highest level and his ego determined that he would not lose to a pathetic water snake.

For the second time, the great serpent leapt towards the ship, ready to tear it in two; just as before, Archer fired a pair of arrows and drove it back several metres.

However, there was a great gleam in the tanned youth's eye as he recognised a weak point he could attack.

Periclymenus again lashed towards the deck of the ship, although at this point his pain had receded into the background.

"I've done what you asked! Happy!?" commented Periclymenus sarcastically, to which Archer shook his head.

"No, I need you to do one more thing," Archer spoke earnestly, catching Periclymenus' grudging attention. "I need you to fight that thing again. If all goes well then I can kill it."

"I have already been flogged around twice! Do I really have to be flogged three times?" Periclymenus gasped in pain.

"It's either that or die, your choice," Archer replied indifferently, earning a disgruntled expression from Periclymenus.

He definitely did not agree with Archer's methods.

"Deep inside, I wish you were dead you know?" Periclymenus sarcastically spoke as he took a breath and prepared to jump for the last time into the fight.

Before he could do so, Archer's stopped him. "Whatever you do, don't go near the monster's face. That's where I'm going to aim.

Periclymenus got the message and jumped back into the water to start a third consecutive water round; at which point, the blue-haired young man could be considered a mermaid.

As Periclymenus and the beast fought, Archer raised his bow and aimed at the beast in the water. His eyes had been able to inspect the beast when it made the second leap; he could see a weak spot in it that might favour his chances of victory.

The eyes.

Without a moment's hesitation, Archer projected and fired several arrows at great momentum towards the moving shadow, knowing full well that he was aiming through the water.

Against all odds, the beast took the impact perfectly, making it screech through the water as it writhed.

"It's blinded... Now is the perfect time to kill it..." Archer thought as he reached out and opened the palm of his hand.

As if by some miracle, white bolts began to conjure in his hands, a menacing volume of mana rose; the very waves of the Ocean even trembled from the colossal proportions he was emitting.

And when the snake jumped again, Archer grinned and aimed his projectile weapon at the beast, hoping his anti-monster spear would end it all.

The bow ceased to be drawn and the great spear was shot into the sea serpent. The very presence emitting from the weapon startled Periclymenus as he continued to cling to the serpent's body in mid-air.

And when the spear made contact, the unthinkable happened.

...

The spear bounced off the serpent's chest as if nothing happened.

It wasn't dodged,

It wasn't attacked,

It wasn't deflected,

It just... Bounced.

And before Archer knew it, the sea beast was falling into the ship with its large body ensnaring out further and further.

It was all in slow motion. The screams of the sailors, the astonishment of Periclymenus and Archer's own surprise to see that what he had planned had been for absolutely nothing.

But this was not the end.

"Trace On!"

Archer placed his hand on the floor of the ship and reinforced the materials in fractions of a second. The reinforcement had to be used to prevent the sea beast from destroying the ship.

The snake's body struck and shook the ship as if it were some kind of full-scale earthquake, causing the entire crew to fall.

Seeing that the snake had not been able to break anything, Periclymenus reacted quickly and grabbed the sea beast by the tail as he pulled it back to buy some time.

Fortunately, the boat had the wind in its favour. If it hadn't, then they would have been finished long ago.

"What the hell was that weapon you had and why didn't you kill it with it?" Periclymenus raised his voice while sweating. Fatigue was claiming him and he could not fight that snake again.

In short, they were pretty much screwed.

"I have no idea! My weapon should have penetrated his flesh just as the arrows did!" Archer raised his voice sharply, his own body also a steaming from the sudden and rapid use of his mana projection.

But in spite of that, he felt something very strong deep inside his Unlimited Blade Works unleashing from that spear.

"Rubbish, I can't fight any more. It looks like this is the end for us..." accepted Periclymenus with resignation, slumping his shoulders.

Archer frowned as he ignored Periclymenus. He didn't want to die here of all places and he didn't want to end up being devoured by that now blind snake.

As if its own feelings were responding, the spear began to bubble up from deep within his inner soul. Practically the spear wanted to manifest itself again in the real world, something Archer could not understand as to why.

Why did the spear want to make an appearance again?

It's not like it mattered, he didn't have anything left to lose.

His bow vanished and his palm opened just as before, projecting with great power the spear once again. The power was so strong that it seemed more... Intense, as if something wanted to be released.

The very mana of the weapon was stronger and Archer knew at that moment that what he was witnessing was unnatural.

"Why... Why are you manifesting yourself to me...?"

Archer looked at the weapon without knowing what to do, a bead of cold sweat fell freely down his cheek. A clear sign that frustration was overpowering him as the great sea serpent was heading towards them in full fury.

The spear shook with anticipation; Archer's eyes widened in surprise as he understood what was happening.

"You... I see... So only I am worthy to wield you... Right then..."

The great sea beast caught the ship again and shifted across the Ocean faster than before. The great sea waves moved with a might worthy of a storm and the air filled with animosity.

Archer closed his eyes to concentrate. His spear was somehow "accepted" into his Unlimited Blade Works; his own soul trembled as if he agreed with everything.

"I understand! I feel your power, your strength, your history! I understand everything now!"

Thoughts of excitement coursed through Archer as he took up the position of a javelin throw. His spear also seemed to glow with ferocity, to the point that the feeling of dominance was felt by the entire crew.

"I am the one who will create your history!" shouted Archer with vigour. "I will be the one to shape your future and then, you will show your true strength to me, your master!"

The spear trembled as if it understood its master's words. A great, imposing presence rose, shaking the whole vessel.

Its mythical appearance, its majesty, the power and the unconstructed feats. A nameless legend to be formed.

A nameless lance that was to be given an identity.

A mighty Spear that stood in the same domain as monstrous beasts.

A holy spear, a luminesce spear, a bewitching spear.

But most importantly.

A unique lance.

Archer charged the spear with mana greater than one could realise; the weapon itself, desperate to set free its full power...

The blind snake could wait no longer and took a huge leap as it opened its jaws to eat it in one bite. However, it did not expect at all the great destructive nature that the real spear carried.

"History is created by the legends that leave their mark..."

"That's how we all stand up for our own ideals..."

"Just like you are defending me..."

"And as you respond to my call, respond to the history that I will create with my own hands...".

"AÍGLOS MONAXIYA!"

Archer roared as he hurled the great spear like a javelin. The great mana released from the tip was sickeningly dense; easily penetrating the sea serpent's skin as if it were a knife cutting butter.

The spear exuded an immense amount of mana from its tip, giving it a majestic and brilliant aqua blue colour. That same mana shot out with colossal force, making even the sea tremble from what had come.

The entire crew stood in utter shock as they watched the sea monster unquestionably fall dead into the depths of the sea.

Archer stretched out one of his hands with the last of his strength and the spear returned to its owner as it spun through the air.

"W-what was that?" The first to speak was Periclymenus, but he was stunned by what had just happened. He had never witnessed a weapon with such intense and destructive potential as that.

It was a power so intense and bewitching that it even caused him to fear.

"Everything… Is over?" A crew member muttered as he blinked, he couldn't believe everything that had just happened. He was in complete disbelief that he had just survived an encounter with a sea beast.

The bronzed young man smiled and raised his spear in victory.

And on que, victorious cries of vigour and bravery rang out from all the crew. Some were even shedding tears as they thanked all the Gods for having survived the serpent.

A boisterous atmosphere of celebration and relief pervaded the ship for a while. Everyone was celebrating, everyone was cheering and everyone was happy to have survived another day on the high seas.

Even Periclymenus was somewhat... Happy?

He didn't know why he was happy, he practically hated Archer ever since he saw him. He didn't understand why seeing the imposing figure of this young man was now causing him to meaninglessly aspire.

Archer tried to stand upright with his spear in hand, but the weapon disappeared as if it had never existed; his body slumped to the deck with a thud.

"Hey!" the Captain raised his voice. "We can party later, for now attend to that young man!" He ordered.

Against all expectations, Periclymenus was the first to approach Archer's body as he lifted him up. The young man's body felt rather light and limp, he had definitely tired himself out using that... Awe-inspiring weapon.

"Don't worry," said Periclymenus calmly. "He is in good condition, just unconscious from fatigue."

Many members of the crew seemed to sigh in relief, Periclymenus himself was also pleased that this young man had not died.

"Good." said the Captain "Take him to rest, that young man has saved us from death. I can say with certainty that he is a mighty and formidable hero... Just as you are too, my boy."

Periclymenus eyes widened at the small compliment and when he looked up to meet the Captain's gaze, he generously smiled and gave him a thumbs-up.

"You are our saviours!" the Captain commanded loudly; the crew cheered again in the same greatness. All the people were very grateful to have come out of that savage encounter alive.

"We survived!"

"The Gods of Olympus have blessed us with two great warriors!"

"I can't believe we won against that sea monster!"

"Thank you for defending us from the terrible beast, you are true heroes."

Thousands of compliments and blessings were directed towards the two people crawling on deck. The tense atmosphere of the ship vanished, replaced with joy, happiness, euphoria and relief.

Periclymenus smiled secretly to himself as he walked away from the crew and when he was far away, he realised that he had done the right thing in following the orders of this young man.

"... I was wrong to judge you before your time, Archer..." muttered Periclymenus wearily. "Who would have thought that a scumbag like you would have so many tricks up your sleeve... You really surprised me."

With a last weary snort, Periclymenus had to grudgingly accept that Archer was far superior to him. That if it were not for his orders and skills, they would have perished.

"Damn... The sea really is a hectic place when Poseidon is in a bad mood... I need a break..."

"Ugh..."

A long moan of pain escaped Archer's tired lips, his whole body feeling as if it had been trampled by a herd of wild animals, relentlessly.

His eyes opened as he slowly regained his strength. To have used the full power of that weapon so suddenly had been a very risky move, though the desperation of the situation was worth its use.

However, he had not expected it to work, rather than listen to his common sense, he had listened to his instinct in that situation. That spear was calling to him as if it had a life of its own.

It was hard to explain.

Although it was thanks to this that Archer was able to finish off the beast and save the crew members from tragedy. It was certainly a win-win for everyone.

That didn't mean his body was feeling any better.

"Are you awake yet?" Periclymenus' voice abruptly interrupted Archer's thoughts as he tried to get into a more comfortable position.

"What happened? And why are you here?" Archer asked with a groan, looking at Periclymenus.

"For your information, wrestling a sea serpent is more painful and exhausting than it sounds." began Periclymenus sarcastically. "Besides, I should be the one asking you what happened. I've never seen a weapon of that quality before."

Archer shrugged. "It's just a weapon with specific properties. There's not much to say about it."

Periclymenus frowned and was annoyed by those words, he didn't like Archer acting in such a nonchalant manner.

What he had done was something akin to a miracle. No hero would take it so casually…

It could also be that he was just annoying him, Archer could be quite… Aggravating when he wanted to be.

"You are too modest, and I detest that kind of person," said Periclymenus with annoyance, but oddly enough, there seemed to be no hint of hostility in his voice.

Archer assumed that this was because he had earned some sort of respect for defeating the sea creature.

In any case, he had needed Periclymenus' help to succeed, but Archer could have killed it individually. If he did not do so, it was because the situation had become unnecessarily complicated.

In the battle, he had thought that ordinary swords would not harm the beast, but the reality was that they could, which is why his arrows had inflicted damage on the sea serpent.

The problem was that Archer used the special spear to kill it and it... Didn't work.

It was not because it lacked power or because the projection was incomplete. It did not work because the weapon wanted to be released with all its true power; which is why all its effects and concepts were sealed before its name was spoken.

The best way to describe it would be as an "explosion".

In this case, when the weapon released its true name, the concepts and effects were no longer sealed, causing an "explosion" of its true strength. That's why it worked the second time.

In truth, the weapon's name had been given to Archer because this unique spear belonged to him; meaning that it would only reveal its true power when its owner gave it a name.

It's not as if Archer had the imagination to come up with a great name in such a desperate situation.

If Archer had used ordinary swords charged with mana, he would have defeated the beast without any worries, but he had misread the situation and the very characteristics of the monster. Not to mention that his spear wanted to unleash its full power in the worst possible situation, thus sealing its concepts and effects temporarily.

Archer sighed, it was certainly a rather strange situation, though it was no use thinking about it now. Fortunately, it had all ended in their favour.

Next time he would be sure to use his cards right. He hated the lack of firepower he had in these cases.

"I don't like to brag about my achievements, I'm sorry if it bothers you," Archer suddenly commented, his stoic face making Periclymenus frown more deeply, but for his own sake he put the subject aside.

He didn't want to get too disagreeable with the youth so soon.

"You are too strong to be an ordinary warrior? You're a hero, aren't you?" Periclymenus probed.

Archer glanced at Periclymenus' words without saying anything more, honestly not liking to classify himself as a "hero".

"Tsk..." Periclymenus clicked his tongue. "You're the same as me, at the end of the day you weren't just any warrior. If you had told me from the start that you were a hero I would have behaved better."

Archer smiled sarcastically. "So King Neleus's son wants to apologise to me? It is an honour to receive such sincere apologies."

Periclymenus rolled his eyes at the clear sarcasm and turned his face away from the bronzed young man.

He may have accepted Archer better than before, but that didn't mean he liked him at all.

"Screw you. I'm trying to get answers out of you and you just avoid the subject like you don't care. Has anyone ever told you you're damn annoying when you want to be?"

Archer widened his smile. "Of course; you're not the first, nor the last."

Before Periclymenus could retort, the door of the small room slammed open, causing both young men's attention to be drawn to the figure who had interrupted their conversation.

"Ah!" the Captain smiled brightly, "I see you have recovered!"

Periclymenus smiled confidently. "I am the son of King Neleus, it is normal that I can withstand such wounds with ease. Fighting that snake was no challenge for me," he boasted with superiority.

"The same snake that you yourself admitted you could no longer handle?" Archer abruptly interrupted with a playful gleam on his face, eliciting a laugh from the Captain.

"Of cour-Hey! If it wasn't for me you'd be dead right now!"

Archer closed his eyes and folded his arms with obvious certainty. "You were just a nuisance. I could handle that thing on my own."

"Y-You!"

Before Periclymenus could pounce on Archer, the ship's Captain stepped into the middle and stopped him - after all, they had just regained their energy.

It is true that they got along badly, but at least they could wait before fighting again.

"Calm down boys. You should rest for a while, you were fortunate not to receive serious injuries from that thing, although it was quite amazing how you dealt with the monster. I didn't expect two young men to be able to defeat something like that... Today's heroes are truly magnificent."

"Hmph, that sea beast was certainly powerful but it wasn't that strong... Maybe in a more normal situation we both could have defeated it individually." Archer commented. "The surprise factor and the location is what caused the entire situation to become bigger."

Periclymenus nodded. "That's true, it was too chaotic. When you see sea monsters, you think of scarier or creepier things, but a snake with thick skin is not as difficult to handle as it seemed at first... We were certainly quite lucky."

The Captain scratched the back of his neck. "I can agree with you, it is true that the strength you have is marvellous, but travelling on the Seas is the equivalent of travelling to a completely unknown world. I think it's for that reason that you had so many problems, possibly you thought it was a creature with stronger and more powerful abilities, right?"

Archer and Periclymenus nodded in unison. If they had known it was a common sea serpent, they would have used other methods to kill it.

"Aren't you supposed to be a sailor? How do you know that?" asked Periclymenus with an arched eyebrow.

"Ah, that's easy enough. I have that mentality too when I sail the sea, you always think of creepy things, and that's why you tend to be more wary of creatures that might appear... Certainly Lord Poseidon gave us his help, it could have been something much worse."

Archer slowly rose to his feet, however, his body was fatigued.

"How long have I been asleep?" asked Archer.

The Captain put a hand to his chin. "You haven't been unconscious for long, the Sun is still making its presence known in the skies.

"I see, if so, then I'll prepare myself some food, I'm famished," replied Archer as he walked past the Captain.

Periclymenus and the Captain watched as Archer left the room, though the Captain thought he should have warned him about... The crew.

The whole crew was delighted with the two heroes, so Archer himself would cause a big mess when they noticed his presence on the boat. He was the main hero who had saved them.

That light certainly was glamorous and mighty, not even the Captain had ever been able to see anything like it.

"Are you going to get up too, boy?" the Captain asked Periclymenus.

The blue-haired youth nodded as he also slowly rose to his feet. "Yes, I feel better now, as I was saying before, that snake was no match for me."

With the great confidence so characteristic of himself, the young man slowly left the room in the same manner as Archer had done; hoping to satisfy his hunger.

The Captain folded his arms and smiled. It was good enough that these two young men were getting along better than before, although Periclymenus still tried to maintain hostility towards Archer in some minimal way.

It was no longer so noticeable.

With an animated snort, the Captain left the room as he went to take command of the ship. They had survived a gargantuan beast, but they had to reach Lemnos swiftly to avoid any more attacks.

Meanwhile, Archer and Periclymenus were being surrounded by a large number of sailors, practically being bombarded with questions and compliments from every direction.

Periclymenus was obviously having a good time, he was boasting with his classic supremacy and strength. Archer however was suffering a little from the unwanted attention.

It felt great to see everyone carefree and content, but that didn't mean that receiving a barrage of questions and compliments would be so pleasant all of a sudden. Archer never was used to attention of this magnitude.

"You are impressive, my boy! With your great strength you were able to save us from that dreadful sea monster!"

"What was that light you killed the monster with? It was like something out of a legend!"

"You are a truly strong hero, and handsome. Do you want to marry my daughter in Argos?"

What the hell? Why was a sailor offering his daughter so casually?

Archer was embarrassed by all the attention, he had never received so many compliments. He expected that they would be grateful, but he did not expect their gratitude to be so great that someone would even make him a proposal of marriage to his daughter.

Greece clearly had a very unique culture.

"Thank you very much for your compliments, sailors!" Began Periclymenus with a huge smile, somehow approaching Archer while placing a friendly hand on his back. "Archer, and I, Periclymenus, are very grateful to receive your sincere thanks. However, we are tired and hungry, we are going to retire temporarily to have a good meal."

The sailors of the crew understood his words and gave them a thumbs up with huge smiles; allowing Archer and Periclymenus to quietly walk away from the sailors.

Certainly the crew was overjoyed, so much so that they were making a lot of noise and disorder over the victory they had achieved against that sea serpent. However... Archer was not necessarily overjoyed.

If he had acted better, that sea serpent would not have caused such an uproar.

No one had paid the price because he reacted in time, but if someone had perished... He would not be able to look the crew in the eye again, which is why he was being hard on himself.

At least he had triumphed and revealed the true power of his spear - that was some good news.

Archer and Periclymenus moved swiftly to the ship's galley so they could relax, although Periclymenus seemed rather disappointed to have to move from the crowd.

He really liked having that attention.

"Well, now that we're alone, I have to ask you this," Periclymenus began earnestly, earning a frown. "What was that weapon you used? I have never witnessed anything like it."

Archer looked him in the eye and knew that Periclymenus was not going to leave this matter without some kind of solid answer, so Archer decided to answer his doubts with facts.

"Trace On."

One of his palms opened with arching white bolts. The profound mana shocked Periclymenus.

His display of power was fierce.

When the process was over, a large spear was being firmly grasped by Archer. It had a sort of greyish colour on the shaft, but its metal tip had blue lines that indicated its power to prying eyes.

Periclymenus could not believe his eyes, he did not expect to find a hero who had in his possession a magical weapon of all things possible.

He had only recently started travelling, but that didn't mean that observing a magical weapon wasn't astronomical. He usually only heard about them in rumours, he had never been able to witness it with his own eyes.

"That's... A magical weapon?!" inquisitively proclaimed Periclymenus. His eyes were scanning the weapon from afar, he dared not approach it. The very capacity the spear gave off was strong.

"Indeed, it is a magical weapon in my possession, its name is Aíglos Monaxiá," Archer replied with some seriousness, his scowl also raised to prevent Periclymenus from doing something stupid.

"How did you get that? Not counting the Gods, I've only heard of those weapons in rumours. I have never seen one up close."

"I can't tell you." admitted Archer, causing Periclymenus to look surprised. "I'm sorry, it's not that I don't want to tell you, it's just that I can't tell you, it's quite private. I don't want to raise attention because of it."

Periclymenus shook his head and regained his composure. "I understand, however, you do know that you're still going to attract attention, right? A magical weapon can't go unnoticed. Sooner or later you'll have people after your head."

"You can try, I'm prepared to send you to the Underworld," Archer dictated. "By the way, I'm not the only one with magical weapons, I'm sure in all the realms there are a lot of heroes with such weapons, you just haven't seen them with your eyes."

"You talk as if you know more than you should... Who are you supposed to be? I haven't heard of a hero with a magic spear in the few places I've visited. I don't think someone like you could go unnoticed so easily..."

Both young men stared into each other's eyes with caution, the great aura that pervaded the atmosphere became largely intense for two young heroes.

"...I can only tell you that I am involved in a recent rumour, I cannot mention more. You will have to find out by your own means when you arrive on Lemnos. Maybe you will understand the reason why I am keeping myself anonymous."

Archer broke the silence dryly as he faded the spear from his hands and moved towards the kitchen to prepare some food. Periclymenus simply kept his eyes on Archer without saying anything else.

Archer was an enigma, and that was too annoying. Not only because the guy was able to screw with him like that, but also because he was able to hide his cards well.

How was Periclymenus supposed to be able to identify his identity from a recent rumour? There were thousands of rumours all over Greece about various things, nothing to assure him that he had heard Archer's. He could never have heard it before.

A hero who carried a magic spear, who also carried a large black bow in an unusual shape... it was illogical. Even more shocking, he was younger than Periclymenus.

"Looks like I'll have to let it go... A shame."

There was no point in racking his brain. He would probably not see him again when he arrived on Lemnos, but for now he would keep quiet and wait for Archer to finish cooking.

He may have hated Archer, but his food was worthy of the gods.

In a place a little away from Iolcos, Orpheus and Alcides were strengthening their bodies with some kind of training. However, it was clear that the weak-bodied young man could not keep up with the colossal human giant.

Due to his determination, Orpheus continued making the same movements as Alcides, but it was plain obvious that he could no longer continue with the same intensity. After a while, Orpheus collapsed, completely exhausted.

"Huf... Huf... No matter how much I think about it, you're too strong to be able to do this training on a daily basis..." Orpheus tried commenting between sighs and gasps, he simply couldn't comprehend the giant man's great stamina.

Alcides stopped and stared at him for a unnerving while without saying anything, his gaze was intimidating, to the point that Orpheus stepped back with some fear.

The "monster" reputation made perfect sense now that Orpheus had confirmed it. Not only because Alcides was very serious, but also because his giant body and his golden eyes gave an intimidating feeling to people.

Orpheus had lived with Alcides for 2 days since he had started his training, which is why he could tell that Alcides was a rather reasonable and quiet person. In fact, Orpheus had hardly heard him speak all this time.

He had heard him speak at that meeting and he saw that he had conversations with Captain Jason and with the ship's doctor, Asclepius, which is why it was surprising to see him so quiet.

It was possible that Alcides only had conversations with close friends, though that was over-theorising and Orpheus didn't like to judge people on things like that. Besides it wasn't his place to intervene in Alcides' affairs. If the man didn't like to talk much, then he was fine with it.

Alcides made a sort of motion with his head as he closed his eyes, which made Orpheus blink for a moment as he understood what he meant.

"Do you want me to rest if I can't go on?" asked Orpheus, to which Alcides nodded. "All right, if you say so, then I'll regain my energy for a while."

Orpheus sat on the grass and watched as Alcides resumed his training. The fact that Alcides could last so long training his body in such an intense manner was dumbfounding to him.

Unfortunately, Orpheus did not have his lyre to play a song, but he was content to watch Alcides train. Besides, this sort of thing required more attention than it should.

Orpheus was very fond of music, so he played his lyre with all the skill and passion he could muster, but it was this fact that made him decide not to bring his most precious instrument.

If Orpheus started playing his lyre, he would most likely be distracted from training altogether and would only think about playing songs.

He couldn't afford that! He didn't want to be an extra burden on the crew.

Suddenly, footsteps approached from nearby, causing both Orpheus' and Alcides' attention to turn in its direction.

"So you were here, Alcides."

A deep relaxed voice filled with optimism dominated where they stood. His very figure commanded respect, but he was very calm and approachable unlike Alcides.

The figure was dressed quite impressively, wearing a Greek tunic of good material.

Alcides was greatly surprised to recognise the figure that had appeared, his eyes seemed to pop out of their sockets for a moment, his clear show of surprise and disbelief very noticeable, even to Orpheus.

"Theseus..."

Alcides' soft voice was heard very faintly, clearly he was bearing his disbelief with difficulty.

"Aren't you happy to see me, my friend?"

The voice of the one identified as Theseus was again heard, making Orpheus slightly more nervous about witnessing this strange and sudden situation.

"You... What are you doing here?" asked Alcides, staring at the newcomer.

"Isn't it obvious? I came to join the expedition. Jason took a long time to inform me about the situation, that's why I arrived quite late to Iolcos." replied Theseus rather calmly.

Alcides regained his stoic posture and dumbfoundingly gave a small smile towards Theseus, greatly surprising Orpheus by seeing this small honest gesture from the colossal human.

"I understand... It's good to see you again, I hope we can work together to succeed in the task Jason has given us," Alcides said honestly, there was a kind of elation and respect in his voice.

"I'm also eager to fight alongside you, that's why my admiration for you remains even after we finished Chiron's training," commented Theseus.

Orpheus didn't seem to understand much about what they were conversing about, but he could guess that they knew each other. The familiar way they spoke to each other said a lot about the trust the two maintained.

The mere fact that Alcides would talk to this Theseus guy let you know that they were on very good terms and that they got along very well.

In short, they were very close friends.

"You seem more cheerful than usual? Has anything interesting happened in all this time?" Alcides asked with a smile.

Theseus widened his smile noticeably as he let out a small chuckle. "Indeed, in all this time I met another great guy who became a good friend I can trust. I'd like to introduce him to you when I get the chance."

Alcides opened his eyes. "Is that friend of yours also travelling with us on the Argo?" he asked.

"The more the merrier!" replied Theseus with some vigour, his great optimistic mood even affected Orpheus somewhat, to the extent that it made him crack a small smile.

Theseus' eyes wandered to Orpheus, causing the latter to show a small embarrassed blush as he became nervous, not expecting to catch the newcomer's eye.

Theseus examined Orpheus. "Who is this boy, Alcides? He doesn't look like a hero or a warrior. In fact, he looks like someone ordinary."

For some reason, Theseus' words discouraged Orpheus. It is true that he had no previous training, but there was no need to be so cruel.

Seeing Orpheus' reaction, Theseus gained a nervous little drop on his cheek, perhaps he had gone a little overboard with his choice of words. But he had no bad intentions towards the boy, he was just curious.

"He is a member of the Argo, his name is Orpheus," Alcides dryly replied. "He asked me to train him, to which I agreed."

"Hmm... I see..." nodded Theseus as he looked at Orpheus. "I think I can help you with that. Alcides probably hasn't been giving you advice all this time, has he? It's normal, he's not used to having confidence with people he doesn't know much about."

Alcides seemed to want to say something but Theseus interrupted. "Do not deny it, Alcides, it's the truth. What's more, I'm absolutely sure you did one of your usual training sessions and waited for him to do the same."

Whether Alcides was embarrassed or not, he did not show it. He simply stepped back a little and avoided eye contact altogether, which earned him a blank stare from Theseus.

Theseus looked at Orpheus with a friendly smile and winked as he extended his hand. "As you may have heard from Alcides, my name is Theseus, a future member of the Argo. It's a real pleasure to meet you, Orpheus."

Orpheus shook Theseus' hand and nodded with a little embarrassment, simply not expecting to meet a new member of the Argo in such a sudden way. Just as he did not expect him to be such a close friend of Alcides.

As Theseus and Orpheus chatted to get to know each other, Alcides was inwardly somewhat happy to see Theseus again. He had been one of his greatest friends along with Asclepius and Jason in the past.

In fact, now that he thought about it, the only one he didn't have a friendly relationship with was Castor. But that was because the boy didn't want to relate to anyone at the time.

Castor aside. Theseus, Jason and Asclepius were his best friends since childhood, if not the only people he could truly trust.

They all treated him like a normal person at the time, which is why he trusted them without a second thought. Not to mention that he knew very well what they were capable of.

Asclepius was a medical genius, Jason was a splendid leader and Theseus was a mighty hero on a par with Alcides.

None of them could be taken lightly even though they were young, Alcides knew this perfectly well.

It is for that reason that Alcides was somewhat happy that he could live, fight, and adventure alongside his friends on the expedition. Many people treated him like a monster because of his intimidating appearance, but they didn't, so his confidence continued to persist without complaint.

Also, seeing Theseus after a long time was quite refreshing, he had changed.

And as Alcides watched Theseus and Orpheus talk, he knew that the expedition was now going to be entertaining.

There may have been some problems with Jason before, but that could be solved as time went on, Jason had yet to demonstrate his leadership skills.

It would all start when the Argo set sail, and when that happened, it would only be a matter of time before things went well, Alcides was sure of that. Perhaps it was a kind of instinct, yet those were his own thoughts about the expedition to come.

Maybe it was meant to be, maybe it wasn't, but at least they would be sure to enjoy all the adventures that happened on the Argo; they had to fulfil the main task Jason had been given.

But despite everything, Alcides was sure that this journey would leave its mark in the history of the world.

The Argonauts.

With a final smile, Alcides knew that this journey was going to test the capabilities of absolutely every hero and warrior in the crew, to such an extent that they would have to push their own limits and become stronger as time went on.

A concept of a ship full of heroes and splendid warriors was exhilarating...

Periclymenus.

Periclymenus is the son of Neleus and Chloris. He is the eldest of the couple's twelve children. The god Poseidon granted him superhuman strength, and the gift of transforming himself into any animal he wished while fighting.

Theseus.

Theseus is a King of Athens, son of Etra and Aegeus, he is an exemplary hero who is well known for having killed the Minotaur by sneaking into his labyrinth. He also took part in the Argonauts expedition and many adventures with his great admired friend Heracles.

Welcome to chapter seven of Fate:Olympus!

Now let's go straight to the chapter notes.

First of all, many will be thinking how Archer and Periclymenus had such a hard time fighting the sea serpent, and the explanation I'm going to give you is the same one given in the chapter.

Periclymenus and Archer thought the sea serpent had more powerful characteristics or abilities, which is why they were holding back with some caution and care, just as it took them a little longer to come up with a plan, not to mention misreading the situation.

This is made very clear when Archer says to Periclymenus "I could see with my eyes that it has a pretty thick skin, not even a common sword could affect it" which is completely false, because as I said, he misread the situation, and as a consequence, he made bad decisions.

Besides, Archer also had to awaken the true power of the spear somehow.

Another thing, Periclymenus is very blown, literally every biography tells you that he was acclaimed for his great strength, and that he also knows how to box very well, and as you may have noticed, this Periclymenus still hasn't received the power of Poseidon to shapeshift.

And another thing people, I remind you for the 1,851,051st time, that we are in GREEK MYTHOLOGY, and in the AGE OF GODS. Everything here is very, very powerful even if it is a small thing like a sea serpent, they are not random complications just because, all this makes sense if you think a little bit.

As you may know, some time ago I read a similar Fate story that I didn't like because of the Gary-Stu protagonist it had, and because I also didn't like the fact that everything is solved so easily with brute force (Something that in mythology is not so true, the twelve labours of Heracles come more from wit than force), not to mention that everything was always very convenient for the plot and didn't respect the timeline in any good way.

The descriptions of Greek mythology in general may be a little vague about the power they wield, but they are powerful nonetheless. Not to mention that Ancient Greece is depicted in Fate as very wild.

I don't know if anyone watched the Heaven's feel movies, but in just a few seconds, it depicts the twelve labours of Heracles very well, and they are AWESOME AND POWERFUL. Everything, absolutely everything looks imposing and strong in this era, the ladon dragon is too scary, the croatian bull looks like it's going to tear you apart, the cerberus is a terrifying and vigorous dog, not to mention that all these concepts are cool because besides showing the Ancient Greek strength, they also mix the robotic parts in a cool way that are mentioned in Fate of the Gods, representing their "Divinity" or "Awesome Strength", being that the Greek Gods in Fate come from space with robotic parts, the stymphalian birds look like that, and I think it's a cool design.

Now another thing, a lot of people are going to have some doubts about the chronology of Theseus because it is mentioned in his youth that he went to Athens and overcame thousands of challenges on the way, but then when did he join the Argo, if at that time he was already doing something else?

Because the chronology of Greek mythology is inaccurate, Fate fixes this by putting him in the Argo as one of the early arrivals, and I coupled that with the fact that he trained with Chiron, making him one of his friends along with Asclepius and Jason.

This is confirmed by Jason in Fate, when he mentions that, when Herakles left the ship (which was quite early) Theseus became the strongest of all the crew, not to mention that when he arrives in Athens, he recognises Medea.

Now, one last thing, as I mentioned above, what Theseus faces in the mythology to get to Athens is something rather less powerful than the twelve labours, however, in the same way as in Fate, I will try to represent those future exploits in an exaggerated way, not in the same way as the twelve labours, but it will have something very similar, after all it is the age of the Gods.

For example, the bandit giants will be very powerful and strong, among other things, but I will try to do my best. I want to make a good representation of this kind of powerful thing in Greek mythology.

By the way, Theseus is also quite nice in Fate, or at least that's what he lets us see in Circe's interlude, he participated and even spoke several times, but he didn't have a design, a pity.

Now, just because Theseus is nice doesn't mean you're smart or intelligent, anyone who knows a bit of Greek mythology will know that this guy is a mess.

Well, I guess that would be it, haha.

As always, you can leave your reviews, favs, and follow the story, I'd really appreciate it, remember this is originally uploaded to Wattpad, haha.

Hello everyone, it has been a while. I think I took longer to translate this chapter than the previous one's. This chapter was harder to translate.

But anyway, we have finally reached chapter 7! I loved the experiences and changes that were being introduced to Archer's character as they really showed his conflict with his past.

I loved the introduction to Periclymenus' character. Now I am probably going to ruin his character appearance but I can't help myself but think of Shinji everytime Periclymenus is mentioned. I mean come on, he has blue hair and he honestly acts like Shinji, albeit him being more courageous than Shnji. There, I have ruined it for you now. I also like the friendship that is sort of appearing between him and Archer. Now, from research, there has only been one account of him being a part of the Argonauts, but that's it. There is no story to be told about his life on the Argo.

There were so many other lovable parts to the story as well. Like when Archer cooked some food for the sailors, their reactions were priceless. It's like you want characters to be shocked by Emiya's food. On top of that, that part where the spear just bounced off the serpent was hilarious, (I couldn't stop laughing) it was just too anticlimactic.

Now, as for Archer's new Noble Phantasm, I tried to do some research and translations on the words and what they could mean. The word 'Aiglos' as far as I know is not a real-term word. What I mean is that I could not find any translations for this word, but there was an abundance of Lord Of The Rings references to this word which meant 'final', 'sharp' or 'piercing', you know, these sorts of words. As for 'Monaxia', it is a Greek word which associates itself with meanings such as 'alone', 'void' or 'desolation' (I am more leaning towards desolation or void). So, by combining these 2 words You would probably get something like:

"PIERCING VOID" or "FINAL DESOLATION" or something like that. Now I won't translate the noble phantasm because I think that's the name the Author intended it to be . But it was something I wanted people to know about.

As for my final comments, there was this one line in the entire chapter that really got to me and showed the author's deep understanding of their story. It was:

"People only noticed the 'prince' or the 'hero', while the 'human' was forgotten by all".

Damn was it a good line. While it was Meleager reflecting about himself, this line (in my opinion) really resonates with many other characters in the Fate series, including Archer. It shows one of the downsides of pursuing the title of 'hero'. For example, Archer wanted to be a hero during his life, but in the end was forgotten and blamed for everything, even after saving many people. In the end, he was sacrificed for the greater good. It's a good line for debates and conversation.

Right my rambling is now finished.

Please do review as I am always reading them and if there any criticisms about the translation, do let me know.

Also, all credits go to LaVacaMuh for this story, I am only translating their work.

Stay safe and see you next time!
