Synopsis:

She was happiness. She was joy. A charming little girl with who would always see the positive side of things and try to find the good in people's heart. . . That girl was me, at some point. An innocent soul with a pure heart along with the mindset where everyone would get their happily ever after, prince charming and everything like in most fairy tales. . .

But this story is not one of those.

There is no prince charming or a knight in shining armour, but I can guarantee you that there will be dragons with flames, demons from many kinds, creatures from legends, and battles like no other.

But the greatest fight of all is. . . The conflict within the heart with weapons that many know as. . .

Emotions. . .

I am Miyuki Urameshi. The girl who lost her spark, but ended up coming back as the whole damn fire.

The Urameshi siblings finally arrived at the uptown right after getting the weapons Miyuki had changed into some normal clothing and got her throwing knives she kept hidden in her room. As the two were walking they took a good look at the surroundings.

"All these rich kids." Yusuke mumbled in annoyance as he watched the many wealthy people coming out of different malls or just walk around to show off their newest fashionable clothes. "All shopping." The boy ranted on grumpily. "How does Koenma expect us to find them in this mess?" He asked no one in particular as he walked over the nearby bench and lied down on it while Miyuki kept looking around. "Some help he was." He complained before changing the pitch of his voice. " 'We think they're somewhere in uptown', he says."

Miyuki let out a small inhale, but it was soon caught up in her throat as her felt her shoulder hurting again. Her hand flew up toward it in reflex. The girl's questioning eyes were shot at her left arm before going wide in alarm. She looked up in the sky, only to see it turn crimson red all of the sudden.

"Hello, that feels a little awkward." Yusuke said as he also noticed the sudden change.

Without saying another word Miyuki ran away toward a random direction.

"Hey, where do you think you're going?!" Yusuke got up from the bench and ran after her, only to see a small crowd gathering around something across the street. Yusuke shoved through the people and now he was right next to his sister, watching the little unconscious boy who was wearing a blue sweatshirt and has brown hair that matched with his eyes. He was in the man's arms, eyes open wide but limp like a rag doll. Then the brother and sister saw his face turning blue while the light in his orbs suddenly died down. After that, a small pure white smoke came through his lips and flew into the sky.

That's when the two detectives realized this must be the Orb of Baast doing, meaning one of the criminals is nearby. As the small spirit began to fly away, the sky turned back to normal.

"I think that's what people call a lead." Yusuke said before him and his sister started to run after it. The small soul cloud suddenly turned at the next corner where and ally was.

Unfortunately, after the long run, they not only lost their lead, but they also ended up in that part of the town where all of the hooligans, thugs were. Windows are broken or boarded up along with many doors and shady peoples leaning on walls or sitting on the ground drinking or just resting.

Yusuke didn't like this one bit, and neither did his little sister.

"This way." She said as she led the way, deeper into the dark and deserted area.

"Uptown sure become downtown quickly." Yusuke commented as he looked around the place. Accidentally he bumped into his sister's back who was as stiff as a board. "What is it sis?" The Urameshi boy asked but Miyuki didn't say anything, but with her head she gestured toward a guy that had a built-up body and was sitting on a crate.

"We found our target." Miyuki whispered to her brother who narrowed his eyes at the figure, only to realize he wasn't actually human.

"It's a monster!" He said before taking out his spy glass and look at the disguised demon. "There it is! The orb thingy." The Spirit Detective informed his sister who nodded her head in agreement. Their criminal let out a huge yawn before getting up and leaving the area.

"Here it goes." Yusuke said as I nodded my head at it. However, before we can catch our culprit someone grabbed me by the shoulder.

"Hey little miss, you got some cash for me?" Asked a man with blue fuzzy hair and black eyes that were hungrily scanning my form.

"Sorry minor league, but we don't have time for you." Replied my brother as he grabbed onto me and pulled away from the man's grasp. However, he didn't like the answer and his buddies also joined in.

"That's the wrong answer." Replied the previous guy with a sinister smile. We were surrounded.

"Well sorry." Yusuke apologized sarcastically. "Don't say I didn't give you a fair warning!" And within a second the thug was knocked out cold. Yusuke then turned to me. "Get out of here sis and follow him." He ordered me.

"But-." I wanted to protest but he cut me off.

"I'll catch up to you later okay? Just don't lose him!" He said before going for his next punching bag. Knowing we don't have time I obeyed and run after our thief friend. Thanks to this so-called spiritual awareness, Botan had told me about, I was able to sense him easily and follow his trail. Surprisingly, it was so low for a demon. Maybe he is just a weak one or he is actually masking it. Yes, that must be it. He already hides his true form from us humans so why not hide your true powers as well. Luckily he didn't seem to notice my presence. Not until my legs stepped onto a twig. The breaking of the wooden piece was loud, but I quickly took cover behind a tree. I hear his footsteps stop for a second but after a moment later he began walking away. Letting out the breath I had been holding I peeked my head out of my hiding spot.

He was gone, but I can still sense his energy.

As I walked out the rain began to fall. But what caught my attention was that small bright area where the clouds were parted away.

That must be the area where our thief must be heading.

Quietly, I made my way over there fast and hide behind one of the tree trunks, my ears listening to the conversation that is happening there.

"Oh yes, this is perfect." A voice exclaimed while laughter was heard in the background. I slightly peaked my head around to see what are we dealing with. I don't see it clearly, but there was a black flash zipping around the place. Then suddenly a tree exploded into pieces and a demonic creature flew out of it. But as soon as it hit the ground it began to decay like a flower that dried down in the middle of a desert.

After witnessing that, my focus was put on the figure who just landed on the ground. He had spiky black hair along with a black cloak and in his hand, there was the second artefact that we need to get back.

"If the sword can make demons from trees, just think what they'll make from humans." The black-haired guy with scarlet-red orbs, or more like demon said to his other comrade who I had seen earlier. "I say we go to the next big city and carve out a thousand of them. Imagine raising an entire demon army. " Then they began to laugh maniacally.

"I like the way you think Hiei." Replied the tall guy. Huh, what a weird name. "If we teach them to eat souls, I even know how to feed them all. " He then pulled out the Orb into the view. "The Orb of Baast." He laughed.

"And once the full becomes full we can use Kurama's weapon and supposedly get complete control. Isn't that right?" Hiei continued on before turning to the side of the forest where now I saw a figure hiding in the shadows. I narrowed my eyes as if I try to sharpen my focus but it was no use.

However, I didn't have to struggle much because the figure, Kurama already started to go out to the light.

My jaw dropped to the floor as soon as I saw his features clearly. . . Eyes as green as the four-leave clover and his now long hair that was as red as roses. . . That very feature that I would recognize anywhere.

Shuichi? No. . . This can't be, can it?

My childhood best friend here . . . as one of the thieves?

He can't be. . .

"Sorry, I must redraw from this alliance." Shuichi said surprising me and his teammates.

"What?!" Hiei and the other guy cried out.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Hiei asked in disbelief. "Surely you're not dropping out of the game when we got this far!?"

"Yes." Kurama replied confidently.

"You coward!" The black-haired guy glared at his friend. "Your years of hiding yourself in this human world that made you just like them. Spineless and ready to be walked down. " By the sound of his tone he clearly felt betrayed or maybe he was just overreacting, it was hard to tell.

"I don't give a flip if he leaves, but he's got no right to the loot. " Said the guy with the orb who stretched his hand out to the redhead. "Give us the pretty little mirror."

"I can't." Shuichi replied. "I have a great need for it myself first."

"Alright." Said the muscular guy before rising his fist up. "Then I'll punch it out of ya!"

As quick as lightning I took one of my kunai knives and threw it at the guy, choosing his shoulder my target. However, he jumped away just in time, and instead, it brushed above his shoulder, leaving nothing but a small cut on his green shirt.

"What's the meaning of this?!" Hiei asked.

"Great shot sis." My brother complimented as he walked out in the open with a tree limb as his umbrella. Stupid Yusuke. Never heard of the element of surprise? Probably not.

"Hn. What are you talking about?" I hummed annoyed as I also stood into the light and walked right next to my brother. "I missed." I growled with annoyance as both of us turned to the three thieves.

"Excuse me neighbours." Said Yusuke as he eyed all three of them. "Couldn't help but notice it wasn't raining here. Maybe next time you guys go steal some magic toys, you should hide where it is not so obviously sunny. Just a tip."

"Who are you? And how do you know about the artefacts?" Hiei demanded with a snarl on his face.

"Give us your names." The big guy said right after. I turned to Shuichi for a moment and sure enough, I can tell that he somehow recognized me. I instantly shot my gaze away from his eyes as I felt the pain inside my chest. . .

Guilt. . . from all these years. . . and to this day I still can't face him. . .

"Oh, thank you. I hope you asked." Yusuke said cockily as he threw the tree limb away from us. "Hello boys, the name is Yusuke and this right here is my sister, Miyuki. We're spirit detectives."

"Spirit detectives?" The guy who possesses the orb asked.

"Don't worry, they must be some of Koenma's fools." Hiei spat as he eyed me and my brother, from head to toe. "They must have been the only two humans they could round up. Their spirit energy is pathetic."

"Hn." I rolled my eyes at him before capturing his crimson orbs with mine. I really don't know why I am even staring at that jerk of a demon but for some reason, I did. . . As my eyes scanned his features, I couldn't help but feel a bit . . . odd about his appearance. . . Like his looks give me some kind of déjà vu feeling, but they were also . . . captivating-.

Wait, I did not just said that to myself now did I?

After a small pause, I noticed the redhead figure began to walk away.

"Hey! Where are you going?" My brother asked.

"Sorry, I don't have time to be arrested." He said smoothly as he disappeared into the shadows.

"Shuichi. . ." I breathed out lowly.

"Stop, Kurama! You can't just walk out on our plan!" Hiei shouted after him before jumping up in the air and disappear out of our vision.

'Kurama?' I rose an eyebrow at the strange nickname because I had never heard that one before neither from Shuichi himself or his little brother.

"Hey, don't leave yet guys. I just got here!" Yusuke's comment brought me back to reality. "So much for manners." The big guy laughed at his behaviour.

"Don't feel bad kids, I'm much more polite." He said with a sick grin on his face. "I'll turn myself in nice and neat if I can't rip off your heads."

"Sounds like a deal. " Yusuke replied while I prepared to reach for my Kunais. "Just don't pull my hair." He added jokingly making me mentally roll my eyes. Our opponent laughed once more.

"I hope you don't mind waiting. " He said making me frown a little. Just a little. "I need a little snack." He then held the Orb up and dug two fingers into it.

What is he doing?

Don't tell me he is eating souls?!

"What do you mean?" Asked my brother and by the tone he felt a little uneasy.

"I find this orb very useful." Began the guy with green shirt. "I never have to cook anymore." He chuckled. "People don't realize how hard it is to eat souls. You got to cook the human so they taste good, but not long enough to kill them. But this, it takes all the guess work out of it. Pulls them from the body still alive, so all you get is good clean soul."

"Is that," Yusuke began. "Is that the little kid?"

"They're the best." Said the demon guy before putting the small cloud into his mouth.

"Monster!" Yelled my brother.

"SPIT HIM OUT!" I yelled with rage as I immediately ran over the creature and kneed him in the stomach. To my relief, the soul floated out of his throat. My brother jumped up in the air and give the moron a big punch across his face.

"Hah, and that's a knock out." Said my idiot of a brother, but I think it's too early to celebrate. Sure, he was out cold, but it seemed way to easy. . .

"That's right little boy, you're safe now." Yusuke said softly. "Fly on home to your body."

I walked over to the Orb of Baast and picked it up.

"Two more to go little sis." Yusuke said with a grin. However, my suspicions were confirmed, and as I expected that son of a bitch is right back on his feet with a big red mark on his face while blood was coming out of his mouth.

"For humans, you two are pretty decent." Complimented the criminal.

"What's your problem?!" Yusuke shouted at him with anger in his eyes while as for me I got myself into some fighting stance while my hand was clutching onto the stolen artefact tightly.

"Get back in the ground, I hit you too hard for you to be on your feet!" My oaf of the brother continued yelling.

The next thing we knew the monster laughed at us as the demon energy began to surround his entire body. The size of his muscles turned twice as big as they were before, ripping the green shirt into shreds. His skin began to change colour as his hair began to grow along with his teeth and nails that seemed razor-sharp and huge. Then his horns began to grow as well.

So, this is his true form, huh. Nasty.

"Uhh, I think we're in trouble." Yusuke stated a little shocked. No shit Sherlock.

Suddenly I felt those sharp nails clawing across my chest and before I can react I was already in the air then later bounce up and down on the now wet grass and mud.

"Miyuki!" Yusuke shouted worriedly. I lifted myself off of the dirt but the pain from the impact was horrible. "Are you okay sis?" My brother asked as he grabbed onto my shoulders and helped me up.

"Next time we see that toddler bitch, remind me to ask him about how to fight with demons and other monsters." It took all my strength to get up on my feet. Damn it, I didn't even start fighting much.

"Easy kids, you run away." The demon said as he picked up a whole tree like it was a simple flower from the garden. He took a big swing and hit the both of us like we were nothing but baseballs.

As soon as my body made contact with the ground the round artefact fell out of my grasp and rolled away.

This isn't good. At all.

I turned to my brother who was reaching for the orb, but suddenly stopped and looked at his index finger.

"That's right, the spirit gun thing." He exclaimed as he turned around and aimed his gun finger at our criminal.

"Idiot! You already used it today!" I shouted at him as I managed to scramble up from the grass on one knee and face our opponent. "Koenma said you can only shoot once a day."

"Dammit! Mr. Iwamoto screws me over once again today." Yusuke grunted as he was back to his feet again.

I can't use water bending either, it's not strong enough.

What are we going to do now?
