The next morning I wake up and see the most beautiful girl in the world is still in my bed. Wanda Maximoff. After finally making a move on each other we spent the rest of the night talking, cuddling and naturally...kissing. Her being with me helped me relax and like I was on cloud 9 until I finally got tired again hours later. Once we started to feel sleepy I asked her to stay when she attempted to leave my room, and to add to my lucky night she said yes. So when I open my eyes she's still asleep, facing me and cuddled into my body with her arms wrapped around me as I'm still holding her. Her head is practically buried into my chest and I can't help but smile.
I think back to last night, her smile every time I'd make her laugh, her blushes when I'd give her kisses and tackled her into hugs. This girl is too good to be true and I don't even know how to process this. Then I feel her shift a bit in my arms and she makes a cute little groan in her sleep. I smile more and plant a kiss onto the top of her head, which makes her stir a little more before she pulls her head away from my chest and I stare at her sleepy face looking up at me.
"Goodmorning, beautiful."
Her face turns a little red, but she leans in and kisses me gently on the lips. "Morning, babygirl."
Now I blush, loving the way she said that and I can't help but to kiss her again as I place my hand to the side of her face to pull her back to me. This time I kiss her longer than the first time before I pull away and then peck her nose. "I'm glad you spent the night."
She smiles at me and rubs my face as she sets her hand to my cheek, "I wouldn't have had it any other way."
I smile back at her, licking my lips before taking a breath and rub her side with my fingers. "I just want to stay here all day with you." My eyes stare into hers the whole time, loving the way they look back at me.
"I know, me too. But Strucker wouldn't be happy about that."
I groan a little bit, "We deserve a break. We've been non-stop since we got here."
"Imagine having to do this for over a year." She gives me a lopsided smile and then rubs her nose onto my cheek, "We'll have time tonight."
I laugh a little to her nose tickling my face and then nod to her words, "Us night."
She smiles up at me and tap-kisses my lips, "Can't wait."
I take a breath and hold her for a few seconds longer before she scoots out of my grip and sits up, pulling off the blanket. I grab onto her wrist gently as I sit up now and she turns to look at me.
"What's wrong?" She asks softly, probably sensing my mind is racing.
"This is real, right?"
She smiles and nods, shifting her wrist out of my grip so she can hold my hand. "If it isn't I'll be pretty disappointed."
I bite my lip and smile back, nodding. "The girl of my dreams."
She laughs that same cute laugh I love to hear as she gives me one more kiss, "I'm going to change and make breakfast."
I nod and let her hand go, "I'll join you in a bit."
She smiles at me and nods before leaving my room. Once she does I can't help but to practically collapse back onto my pillow and just daydream about her. This girl is amazing.
After a few long minutes of thinking about Wanda I get out of bed and head over to the bathroom that is connected to my room. I use the bathroom, brush my hair and then my teeth before placing my hands onto the counter and stare into the mirror. I'm a little dazed out from what happened in the game room, the ringing in my head, the headache, feeling that pain run down my spine. Even that random voice in my head, none of it makes any sense. Then I take a breath because if it hadn't been for that happening Wanda wouldn't have ended up in my room all night.
I smile to myself, my eyes wandering a bit in the mirror again before I notice a dark bruise on my collar bone and I bite my lip, a hickey. "Oh crap." If Strucker or any of the soldiers see this I'll be in some serious trouble. So my first instinct when I walk out of the bathroom is to grab a hoodie so I can throw that over the shirt I put on as soon as I'm fully out of the clothes I was in last night.
Now that I'm dressed I make sure to toss my other clothes into the hamper and check my cellphone for any missed messages from friends and family at home. Our time difference is about 5-6 hours apart, Sokovia being ahead so I don't always get messages till I'm free or awake the next morning. Mom and dad text a few times a day and call twice a week. Mine and Archie's phones are always being monitored by the base so that we don't accidentally give away secret stuff. Not that we know much anyway, but I get their hesitation to let us not talk about anything else besides our own powers.
There was a text from my dad to update me on the coven's newest members, a mother and 10 year old son that arrived a few days ago and that they are adapting very well. Then mom left me a message saying that she wants to call me today to see how I'm doing. This was around 2am Sokovia time so it would have been around 9pm their time, in which case she wrote the word "tomorrow". So I text them back a goodmorning and that I'll call them when I have the time.
A knock comes to my door while I'm in the middle of sending them their texts and I look over to see Strucker. "Hello, Madison."
I half smile at him as I put my phone back into the drawer I keep it in, "Good morning, Commander."
"Parents worried?" He points to where I put my phone away.
I give a soft shake of the head, "Updates on how things are. They want to call later."
He nods slowly, half smiling. "Well I need you for a mission tonight, if you're up for the task."
My face drops and I raise my eyebrows a bit, "We have another mission in the matter of a week?"
He smiles and nods, "This one is just you and Archie. The twins have their own orders."
I press my lips together, nodding slowly. Despite the situation from last night I don't feel like it's that important to mention. I get headaches all the time from my powers, especially from people reaching out from far away. I still don't know who it could be but she didn't sound threatening. "What's our mission?"
He smiles at me gently, taking out a tablet. "Information on a new drug being made by local scientists."
He hands me the tablet and I scroll through the page he's showing me. I read about a man named Jackson Magnolia who has been developing a drug to boost energy and is supposed to last 12 hours. "Well that's ideal."
"Ideal, yes, but it can be dangerous in the wrong hands."
"So it's not like an energy drink I'm guessing?"
He shakes his head, "It's more complicated than just staying awake for a while. It can be addictive like any drug."
I stare at him for a second longer before nodding at him and I look back at the tablet to see what the man looks like. "So are we just checking to see how far he's gotten?"
"Not exactly." He grabs the tablet back from me and I stare up at him, "We need you to confiscate it."
I lick my lips now, kind of feeling like that's violating their rights. "You think he's bad news?"
"The local police have been eyeing him and his fellow scientists for months and it seems to have alarmed them enough to reach out to us. They believe that these people had some mishaps with test subjects and some have died."
I let out a soft breath, that definitely sounds serious and something that should be taken off the streets. So I look up at him and nod in agreement, "Not a problem."
"Fantastic." he nods in appreciation, "You are to go in after hours to the facility. No harm is to come to anyone in there, so use Archie's freezing power only if they resist."
My face becomes stern and I nod again, "Of course, sir."
...
Just as dinner time rolls around I call my parents as promised and they are relieved to hear my voice. I can tell they miss me and they always sound as if they want to ask me to come home but know that I won't till I feel like I accomplished my goals here. The funny thing about it though is how my dad interacts with me now that I'm not around. He's always had that vibe where he is jealous of my powers since telepathy is rare to get and he isn't much satisfied with his fire abilities. But now that I'm across the world he is more calm and interested in my life.
"Do you seem close to more?" Dad asks on speaker phone so they both can hear me.
"My powers are definitely grown enough to protect myself better with my pyrokinesis. But my telepathy still needs some work. They still give me bad headaches."
"Because you're trying too hard." Mom says now, "You're overworking your brain."
"That's how powers get figured out though, ma."
"I know sweetheart, we're just worried."
I smile to myself, "You wouldn't be my parents if you weren't protective of your kid."
I hear them both laugh softly, "We miss you."
I take a breath, sitting up on my bed now as I had been laying in it. "I miss you guys too. Tell everyone that we say hi. I'm sure Archie will call Macy soon."
"If he doesn't call his mother I'm sure she'll give him an earful the next time he does." Dad laughs now.
Once I say my goodbyes I get to my feet and head out of my room, walking off to the dining hall. Everyone is already there eating the dinner that the soldiers grabbed from the city at a local restaurant. There are enough tables in the dining hall for all the soldiers in this compound, Archie, me and the twins always take the last table by the entrance. So I grab a plate, stuff it with food and head over to sit beside Pietro and across from Wanda and Archie, who are smiling and laughing together.
Other than after hours of hanging out, dinner is another good part of the day. It gives us time to relax and just not think about much else. Especially today since the twins had left the compound earlier with some of the soldiers to stake out the science lab that myself and Archie are entering in a couple hours. Strucker had them take some extra notes to see if anything had changed for our part of the mission and even laid out spots where the soldiers we are going with know where to hide in case we run into trouble. I know the twins enjoyed being out in the world again, but they weren't the happiest that they had no action.
"So…" Pietro says in a hushed voice with a nudge to me, "Are you dating my sister now?"
"Pietro!" Wanda half yells at him, trying not to get the attention of the other soldiers since it's not ideal to be in relationships here.
I turn red as I look over where Strucker is, seeing that he's busy in conversation. The dining hall is loud enough that eavesdropping is usually not a thing but for something like this it's best to be careful.
He smirks at her and puts a defensive face on, "What? I'm curious."
"You'll be less curious when I stick my foot up your ass." She says to him with narrowed eyes.
I laugh at their interaction, and I see Archie is as well. Then his eyes land on me and winks, because he knows how much I like her and I can't help but smile at him.
"Well?" Pietro says now, ignoring his sister completely and stares at me again. "Are you?"
I half laugh and smile at him, looking at Wanda now who is rolling her eyes. "We're…" I look back at the boy sitting beside me, "Definitely interested in each other."
Both of their faces light up and now Wanda's face goes red. But luckily no one makes a big deal because of how crowded it is in the dining hall it would make it too obvious. However, this doesn't keep me from staring back at the girl I like and giving her a quick loving smile so she knows that I'm proud of what's happening. The cute look on her face makes me melt and I can't wait to have alone time with her tonight.
