Lizzie's POV

My whole body froze in fear as I frantically flailed my arms in an attempt to swim and to get me to the surface where I sucked in a full breath of air once my head was above the water desperately trying to keep it above the water as I flailed around panicking for my lack of ability to swim.

"HELP ME, I can't swim!" I yelled out but knew no one could hear me, I'd fallen a great distance.

"Ilizabeth!" I heard someone call out before they grabbed my arm and helped keep me above the water and my eyes met the soggy haired and eyeliner streaked face of Harry. "Are you okay?" I shook my head holding onto him as tight as I dared without dooming us both to drown. "Is anything broken?"

"No...no I don't think so" I muttered shivering out of fear.

"It might as well have been concrete" he groaned, splashing around probably feeling as stiff in the back as I was since I doubted neither of landed very gracefully.

"Don't splash!" I yelled at him since we were in a great underground lagoon, black as night and as still as ice on a frozen lake both frantically trying to keep our heads above water, a pair of light trousers and a thin shirt would have been useful in such circumstances but pirates wore neither and Harry's heavy jacket threatened to draw us down but he wasted no time throwing it off.

"We have to swim to the sides" he went to let go but I grabbed his arm.

"No, I can't swim"

"You're serious?" I glared at him. "Okay, okay come here" he pulled me closer putting my arms around his neck before he started to paddle to the shore...at least he knew how to swim otherwise we'd both be drowning right now. "How can you not know how to swim?" he demanded.

"I don't exactly live near the water until now" I exclaimed angrily.

"You sure you're not hurt?" he asked looking me over once we'd made shore.

"No I'm okay, what about you?" I asked moving the attention to him now that I was safely on land.

"I'm good" he replied before he met my eyes with a smirk. "I know I'm dashing and everything but yeh didn't need to jump in after me"

"I didn't, I fell in" I argued shoving him away from me before I looked around taking in our surroundings, my eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness but there wasn't much to see and I couldn't even make out the far side of the lagoon, we were trapped down here. "HELP!"

"Help, were down here!" we both yelled towards the ceiling praying that the others could hear us and was in the midst of a rescue but there was nothing but silence.

"What do we do?" I asked him.

"We gotta climb out" he told me but my eyes fell to the water and I shook my head. "Okay just wait here" he told me before he reached an area of rocks at the edge of the lagoon and tried to get some kind of hold on the muddy walls surrounding us but it was too slippery and he fell back in the water every time. "Hey, anyone up there...Help!" he called again but we both fell silent when a sound did reach our ears and his eyes shot up in panic as we both instantly recognized the sound.

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock

"Get me out of here!" he yelled scrambling against the slick mud walls, trying to use his hook for leverage but it kept slipping off the surface and I knew Harry was about to panic.

It was dark and obvious that the lagoon was deep, we could not see the far side and I couldn't swim so I knew neither of us was ready to try to swim across it which meant we were stuck here at the rocky edge of the water, clambering for a foothold.

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock

Harry fumbled over more rocks at the growing sound before he tripped and hit the water nearly taking me back in with him before he stood with my help pulling him up and we tried again, feeling our way through the darkness.

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock, it was getting closer and closer to us.

We began to run backward, splashing across the narrow edge of the lagoon but the sound only got louder, it was all around us so there was no use in running and nowhere to hide with nowhere to go, Harry suddenly froze still clinging onto my hand and when I looked over I saw his eyes scrunched shut so tightly as if waiting for the croc to find us but a moment passed.

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock

That terrible ticking persisted but no crocodile arrived, we waited for the titanic jaws to close around our heads, for the forelegs to clamp our neck but nothing touched us, there was only darkness, the water and the rocks, I turned to Harry and we both shared a confused look towards each other before he finally let go of my hand and stepped back.

A new sound could be heard and we looked down seeing his foot had touched sand, it was dry and sturdy so I quickly jumped over to where he was, the hole we'd fallen in was larger than we'd initially realized.

Now that we were out of the water, we followed a sandy beach stumbling a little in the dark, hoping neither of our heads would smash into some unseen wall, I was holding onto his arm so that we also didn't lose each other in the darkness.

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock...I frowned realizing the sound hadn't been coming from the water, it was out on the sand somewhere which meant if it wasn't the huge croc then there could've only been one other thing to make that sound so we followed the sound seeing the cave opened into a wider space where a hole in the distant ceiling sent shafts of light streaming into the cavern like golden spears faintly illuminating a great pile of discarded objects, including an old alarm clock.

"So that's what made all that ticking" he scoffed to himself and I couldn't help the small laugh for the fact that we were afraid of an alarm clock and now that I thought about it, the tick-tock had been a bit too loud to be the tick-tocking of the clock the old croc had swallowed.

"I won't tell the crew your actually afraid of the croc if you don't mention that I can't swim"

"Deal" he agreed immediately and we shook hands before we began to rummage through the pile, finding glass canisters full of strange and wondrous items, NEWT'S SPLEEN read one, EAGLE EYES another, there were candlesticks and candelabras, silver snuffboxes, crystal balls, iron cauldrons and bloodstained tarot cards, we threw each and every piece aside until at last, beneath all that junk stood a treasure chest, exactly as Sophie had described.

"That's got to be it" I told him and he grabbed it tucking it under his arm, just as we heard our names being called.

"Lizzie, Harry!" Uma called materializing in the darkness, holding a torch above her head and we almost jumped at the sound of her voice. "You two all right?" she asked. "We didn't know where you two went, all we saw was this crumbling hole in the ground, it collapsed just after you two fell through it but we dug it out again, we tried calling to you but neither of you answered, so we just climbed down after you" Harry and I grinned at each other before nodding our heads.

"Yeah we're all right, thanks Captain" Harry replied and Uma smiled at him clearly pleased for the fact that was the first time he'd fully acknowledged that she was one of his captains and meant it, we quickly noticed that behind her was the rest of the crew, ropes coiled around their shoulders.

"Ooh, what's that?" Gil said, seeing a skull in the assemblage of magical items.

"Don't touch it!" I cried out, but it was too late and a whirling red cloud shot out of the skull, we all cowered fearing the worst but the red mist only turned into a butterfly and dissipated.

"Phew" Gil puffed out and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Don't touch anything else!" Uma barked at him. "Leave it all alone!"

"Look" Harry said holding up the treasure chest "We found it"

"The treasure chest!" Uma cried eagerly reaching for it. "Open it" Harry set the treasure chest on the ground gently before all of us gathered around it, we'd come far and risked much to find this little chest and were all eager to see its contents.

"Ready?" Harry asked.

"Ready" Uma nodded. "Show me my mother's necklace" she smiled and Harry pried the lid of the treasure chest and it opened with a great creak.

And that's when all the skeletons appeared.
