Takeshi rolled as Hayato launched another attack. He waited for an opening, then yanked his brother's leg off balance.
Hayato tumbled to the dirt, glaring at the younger man. "Not fair."
"Since when do we fight fair?" Takeshi grinned.
Hayato growled good naturedly, standing and brushing himself off. He extended a hand, then pulled Takeshi to his feet. "Smart ass."
Two men approached, an older, with white hair, and a younger with dark black hair.
"Can we help you?" Hayato's eyes narrowed and he shifted to put Takeshi behind him.
The young man stayed quiet, looking like he wanted to be anywhere else. The older man smirked, "I've heard stories of the twins of fire. That doesn't happen often."
"What's it to you?"
The man pulled out a weapon, aiming it at the two, "I'm here for science."
"Armed with a laser weapon for science?" Takeshi exchanged a puzzled look with Hayato. "I think you should go."
The man laughed madly and began firing.
Hayato shoved Takeshi to the ground, hissing as the beam struck.
The scientist rushed forward, ordering the younger man forward as well. The young man sighed reluctantly and moved to Takeshi as the older moved to Hayato. The young one looked at Takeshi closely, his conflicted emotions showing in his eyes.
Hayato was shaking, several deep cuts littering his chest and abdomen. "Leave him alone, asshole.."
The young man continued staring at Takeshi for a good moment before standing.
"What are you doing?! Get him!" The older growled.
"No."
The older hissed and turned quickly, firing at the younger. The black haired one held out his wrist, smiling successfully after the metal band on it began smoking.
The older man's eyes widened, "You know the rules.."
"Fuck the rules." He began shooting large bursts of air at the older man as the older began shooting at all three of the others.
Takeshi winced as one shot connected grazing his neck. He swore, but ran swinging his fists full on into the older male.
The man growled and pulled out a knife, stabbing it into Takeshi before shooting Hayato once again. He then looked at the younger man who'd come with him, "You're going to be punished for this. This was your last chance."
The young man pushed himself forward, grabbing onto the man. Air began whipping around them violently, a large ball surrounding the older man's head. After a few minutes, both men collapsed to the ground. The young man was struggling to breathe while the older lay completely still.
Takeshi staggered to Hayato's side, checking his brother over. He fought tears as he didn't find a pulse, then he collapsed on top of him.
He blinked his eyes open to see the white medbay ceiling. He lay still as his memory returned, then he began to cry.
"Hayato is alive. Still out but alive," Zephyr informed quietly.
Takeshi took a shaky breath. "Thank you." He winced as he looked up and saw the blood bag. "Sorry about this."
Zephyr shook their head. "I was worried about you guys when I hadn't seen you in a while. Though I wasn't sure about the other guy who was there. He was pretty weak, but he's restrained just in case. Wasn't sure if he was a friend or enemy."
"He tried to help us. Killed the old guy." Takeshi sat up, eyes blinking slowly.
Zephyr nodded. "Well, Jazz isn't up for much today and I'm not sure Mag is either, so I'll leave his fate up to you guys."
"Let Hayato worry about it. Only fates I'm worried about is in our gourds."
Zephyr laughed softly and nodded, "Let us know if you need anything. I'm checking on my guys for now, but I'm just a button press away."
"I need you to do one of two things. Either go to our room and bring our gourds here or drop a pinch of red sand from the bag nearby in each one."
Zephyr raised an eyebrow but nodded, "Alright." They left the room quickly.
The dark haired man groaned as he came to consciousness. He weakly looked around and noticed the restraints, then laid his head back before mumbling, "Don't know why I wasn't just left to die.."
"You helped us." Takeshi answered quietly.
"Doesn't matter."
Takeshi growled softly. "The hell it doesn't. If you hadn't, we'd be dead. Or worse. So quit the pity party."
The man was quiet for a moment before answering, "I was supposed to be helping him.. And I killed him.. Did I do right?"
"I'd say yes. You may have helped him in the past, but you decided to stand up and resist this time. If you hadn't, my brother would be dead. So I owe you a debt."
"I never wanted to help him.. But he controlled me. Hid my powers from the world so I wouldn't be taken. But honestly, I might have been better off if I had been taken from him.."
"Take it from someone who was raised by the wrong side as a weapon, he might have had the right idea hiding you." Takeshi sat up fully and looked over. "Why did you do it? Why did you fight back?"
"Part of it was being sick of his crap. I never liked him, but he was my father so it was hard for me to get the courage to fight back."
"The other part?" Takeshi prompted gently.
The man looked away before admitting, "Just didn't want to hurt you."
Takeshi broke into a wide grin. "You're pretty cute yourself. I'm Takeshi."
"Flynn."
Takeshi's eyes twinkled. "Want to have dinner, Flynn?"
Hayato groaned. "Idiot. Take it to the kitchen and let me sleep."
Flynn looked kind of surprised, "I.. I don't deserve.."
Takeshi hopped off the bed after removing his IV. He went to Flynn's side and undid the restraints before pulling him out of the med bay and disappearing.
