Chapter 7: Blackening

Gilgamesh is currently being chased by three Death Eaters across the rooms of the department of Mystery. They think they're chasing him because he's a scared little child, but in reality, it's because he needs to lure them where no one would see them.

Gilgamesh thinks back to how he got to this moment. While Harry went to Umbridge's office to use the Floo Network, he, Luna, Yukari, Sempai, Ron and Ginny went and distract everybody else. It would've been really easy to get rid of the Headmaster's lackeys, but he can't use his powers if other people might see him, so they got captured quite easily along with the Neville kid. Fortunately, Sempai figured out a way to get rid of Umbridge by luring her to the Forbidden Forrest to get raped by the Centaurs. He knew she had it in her, even if she insists that wasn't her intentions.

After that debacle, they went to the Ministry by Thestral. Harry using his broom. A few doors and a prophecy later, the Death Eaters appeared, and now here we are.

The masked men were expecting to capture a 11-year-old boy, but instead found themselves wrapped by the chains of heaven.

"What—" one of the men didn't even get to finish what he was saying when their arms and legs are twisted by Enkidu, making them scream in pain.

"What's the matter?" asked Gilgamesh. "Don't you like these kinds of things? Don't the Death Eaters love torture?"

"Oh right! You prefer doing it with magic. Let's go with that then." He released them from Enkidu's grasp, and he Lets out a bunch of Wands from his Gate.

"Crucio," said Gilgamesh, his smile and the cheerfulness of his voice retaining. The three Death Eaters cried in pain once again. He enjoyed the sound of these men's screams, even if he's just a child.

"Crucio!" he said again, more venom in his voice this time, and they screamed louder. But he knows that this is still not enough. They work for Voldemort after all.

He doesn't even need to say the incantation. Through sheer force of will, he made the spell stronger, and so did the Death Eaters scream. He could almost feel their pain. Soon he got bored of their suffering, and decides he has better things to do than torturing some mongrels.

He stopped the curse, and the three men lay on the floor. They seem to be mentally fried by this point. He's not entirely sure if they could recover from this. Oh well. Three less scum from this World. That's a good thing.

And with that, Gilgamesh left, and went to look for his other allies.

With the help of Sha Naqba Imuru, he finally found Yukari, who had summoned all kinds of different creatures to fend off the Death Eaters who chased her.

"Yukari-Chan, what did you do?" Gilgamesh asked, frankly impressed.

"I don't know. I panicked and ended up summoning a bunch of beasts," she answered.

"Maybe you have an affinity for summon magic," he mused, before remembering the situation. "Come on! We need to find the others!"

The two of them regrouped with the others in the brain room, where they find out that Ron is hit by a curse that made him act weird, Ginny sprained her ankle, Sempai is unconscious, and Neville broke his wand.

Soon, the Death Eaters caught up to them, also knocking Luna and Ginny out, leaving only him, Yukari, Harry and Neville. The Death Eaters cornered them in the Death Chamber, and Bellatrix Lestrange tortured Neville with the Cruciatus Curse while him and Yukari are hold at wandpoint. At this point, Harry has no choice but to give the prophecy.

At this point, Gilgamesh is doing his best to hold back his anger. He has no choice then. He'll have to reveal himself and his abilities. That's the only way they can get out of this.

But then again, the Order of the Phoenix will be arriving soon, so maybe he should just hold on to his treasures.

Just as Harry was about to give Lucius Malfoy the prophecy orb, the Order of the Phoenix appeared. Sirius was with them too, and a battle ensues.

As much as Harry feels guilty about dragging everyone into this, he can't help but enjoy what's happening. The Order is handing the Death Eaters their asses. Die Death Eaters!

Even Dumbledore showed up to join the fray. As much as he is feeling anger towards the man for abandoning him, he has to admit, finally seeing him in action is great! Even Neville accidentally breaking the prophecy is cathartic. Voldemort will not be happy when he finds out.

By this point, most of the Death Eaters have been defeated. They did it! They're winning! There's nothing to worry about.

And then Bellatrix Lestrange shot a spell at Sirius, pushing him to the Veil in the room, his body not coming out of the other side.

At first, he wasn't really bothered with what happened. After all, he probably just got teleported somewhere else. But Bellatrix triumphant cheer says otherwise. When Lupin stopped him from chasing after Sirius and confirmed what he feared, in that moment, the whole world stopped.

Inside Harry's mental landscape, Harry is surrounded by three figures. He didn't dare look at them in his grief.

It— it can't be.

Sirius is dead. And it's all his fault.

"It's not your fault Harry," said the tan-skinned tattooed man.

But how? Him and his stubbornness dragged him into this. He should've listened to Hermione. His desire to save everyone caused this.

"Had the Order explained to you what is going on, none of this would've happened," he answered.

"Had Dumbledore simply acknowledged you throughout the entire School Year and told you about the prophecy, he would've kept this from happening," added the albino woman.

"And had Bellatrix Lestrange never pulled the Trigger, Sirius would still be alive," said the Japanese girl.

Harry didn't want to listen, but in his mind, their words rang true. Dumbledore never told him anything. The Order kept secrets from him. The entire world abandoned and betrayed him, ignoring his insistence that Voldemort returned. Even Snape is at fault. He ignored his cry for help when he warned him about Sirius.

Because of all this, the one flicker of hope that he has in his life is gone forever.

Avenger is right. He's all alone. They're all he has left.

The three figures merged, turning into a mirror version of himself.

"But Bellatrix is still here. We can still do something." He handed him his wand. "So Harry, what are we gonna do?"

Harry takes the wand with anger in his eyes. The answer is simple.

Harry's mind returned to reality now, and he is livid. He chases after an escaping Bellatrix while Lupin tried to stop him.

"Harry — no!" cried Lupin, but Harry didn't listen.

"SHE KILLED SIRIUS! SHE KILLED HIM — I'LL KILL HER!"

He chases after her, ignoring everything else. Before he knew it, they're already at the Ministry Atrium. It seems like by this point, Bellatrix decided that she can easily defeat him, stopped running and sent a curse his way. He dodged the curse by taking cover in the fountain, and now it was his turn to fire.

"CRUCIO!" he announced, and Bellatrix screamed in pain. This went on for a minute, and Harry only half enjoyed it, as he knows that she's half faking her anguish.

He stopped the curse, and Bellatrix, who's under the impression that he stopped unwittingly, starts mocking him.

"Never used an Unforgivable Curse before have you, boy? You have to—"

"AVADA KEDAVRA!"

A green light escaped Harry's wand, and Bellatrix Lestrange dropped to the floor, dead.

He did it.

He avenged Sirius.

He got his revenge.

No, not yet.

Everyone involved has yet to be punished.

If no one's gonna do anything about it, then he'll do it himself.

If that makes him evil, then so be it.

Black and red ooze came out of Harry's shadow and engulfed him. It shaped itself to look like a long coat with tentacles coming out of it, giving off the appearance of a jellyfish, and it transformed Harry, giving him white hair and orange eyes. He discarded his glasses, as he no longer needed them.

With this transformation, Harry also gained a new set of memories. Those of Avenger's. It's not much actually, besides ten years' worth of memories from an alternate universe, and all the hate that Avenger felt when he was still alive. At least now, he knows his true name.

Angra Mainyu.

As Harry enjoys his new state, he noticed that Voldemort has apparated inside the Ministry. He looked at the body of Bellatrix and then Harry. It's obvious what happened.

"Harry Potter. I did not think you have it in you to kill another."

"I never thought it would be this satisfying," he responded.

Voldemort sighed. "With your newfound bloodlust, I would love to make you a member of my army, but too long have you been a thorn to my side. AVADA KEDAVRA!"

The curse didn't hit him as the statue from the fountain fell down and protected him, and that is when they realized that Dumbledore has appeared, clearly too focused on Voldemort and protecting Harry that he did not notice the change in Harry's appearance.

As the statue pushed Harry away from the two and the other statues attacked Voldemort, he decided that he'll let these old fools fight themselves for now, so he walked away from the fight, and descended back to the Department of Mysteries.

As Gilgamesh, Yukari, and the Order members tended to those who got wounded and incapacitated the defeated Death Eaters, Gilgamesh felt a dark presence approaching.

"Archer-Kun, what's wrong?" asked Yukari, who noticed Gilgamesh's distress.

"I sense something," he answered. "Something I haven't felt since…"

And that's when he appeared. Harry Potter, but he looks different. His black hair turned white, his green eyes turn orange, and he's wearing a black and red long coat that gives off the exact same feeling as the mud coming out of the Holy Grail.

For the short amount of time that Yukari knew him, this is the first time that she has ever seen fear in the King of Heroes' red eyes.

Damn it! How could he have missed this? If he was sent to this world, then of course Angra Mainyu will follow too! And he possessed Harry of all people. So that's what he was sensing within him all this time. But he never bothered looking further since in his mind, he has no reason to.

No one else knows what he knew though. At least they all seemed surprised by the change in his appearance

Remus Lupin was the first to speak. "Harry, what happened? Where's Bellatrix?"

Before Harry, or rather Avenger, could respond, Gilgamesh decided that he can't wait for an explanation. He opened the Gate of Babylon and fired a brigade of swords, all aiming towards Avenger.

As Avenger's mangled body fell to the ground, Gilgamesh founds himself being held at wandpoint by the Order members. Yukari looks surprised, not by what he did, but by his usage of the Gate of Babylon

"H-How did you—"

"What did you do?!" demanded the Auror, Nymphadora Tonks.

Gilgamesh couldn't really care about their questions right now, since he wanted to know if Avenger survived. His question was answered in the worst way possible, as all the Order members but Remus Lupin dropped to the floor, with Avenger, who has regenerated, using tentacles coming out of his jacket to cut their necks, instantly killing them. He also did the same to the Death Eaters. It seems like he wanted them all dead.

Remus Lupin stared at him in shock. "Harry, How? Why? "

"That's not Harry. Not anymore," Gilgamesh told him. He turned to the boy in question. "To think that I'll see you again, Avenger. Last time we met, I remember you tried to use me as a host."

"And I remember you wanted to bring me to the world, Archer," he retorted. Gilgamesh cringed inside. Of course he remembers what his older self tried to do, and he would rather distance himself from that phase in his second life.

"But you were right," Avenger continued. "I couldn't use you as a host, so instead I granted your wish."

"My wish?" repeated a confused Gilgamesh.

"Yes. In your head, you wished to 'get out of here.' Though now that I think about it, maybe you meant get out of me, but I ended up interpreting it as something else, and so I granted your wish by bringing us to another timeline, where the Age of Gods didn't fully end." Avenger chuckled. "Sorry about that, but next time you make a wish, please be more specific."

Gilgamesh paled. Was it his fault that Angra Mainyu is brought into this world?

If that's the case, then it's his responsibility as King to fix his mistake. He summoned Enkidu and wrapped them around Avenger's arms to incapacitate him. He simply sliced off his own hands, freeing himself. But while Avenger is healing, Gilgamesh opens a gate to his side, and he takes out a large weapon that could be called a sword, but not a sword. It is a weapon that existed before the concept of swords even existed. This is the Divine Construct that he named EA. One of his finest treasures.

"ENUMA—"he tried to say, but before he could finish announcing his Noble Phantasm's activation call, he felt his arm detach from the rest of his body.

Damn it. Not again.

Before he could even recover from the shock, he felt another sting from one of his limbs, this time his left leg, and he struggled to keep himself from dropping to the floor.

"Heh. I almost made you kneel," said an amused Avenger. Gilgamesh glared at him as he fires more swords at him.

"ONORE ONORE ONORE ONORE ONORE!"

Unsurprisingly and annoyingly , Avenger survived. But while he regenerates his body, Gilgamesh took his chance, using Enkidu to lift himself up and grab EA. However, as he charges the weapon, Avenger was attacked by different creatures, all of whom are absorbed to his body. This only sped up the regeneration process. With his body now intact he just stood there, but as Gilgamesh was about to unleash Enuma Elish, he realized that a hand is coming out of Avenger's coat. Instead of attacking him though, it instead went for the one who attacked Avenger first.

There are many ways he could have save her. He could've thought of thousands of ways to do it. But in the spur of the moment, he ended up doing what might be the most stupid, yet noble thing that he did since being summoned 11 years ago.

As he throws himself in front of Yukari, the shadow ended up shoving its hand into Gilgamesh's chest.

He looked at Yukari and saw her horrified reaction. Even Avenger looks surprised at what happened, before smiling and pulling Gilgamesh's heart out of his body.

"I guess I'll be taking this. Thanks for the meal I suppose,"he said before taking a bite out of his heart. As the heart of a Servant, it has a lot of mana, so eating it will make Avenger stronger.

Gilgamesh fell to the ground and as Yukari rushed to his side, he could only think to himself, "What the hell? That's the faker's move. To think that I'll end up doing it myself. To think that I would also become a faker. I guess this is what they call karma."

"Archer-Kun! Are you alright!? Please say something!" cried Yukari.

"N-Nothing bad. Just t-two lost limbs and a m-missing heart," he said half-jokingly.

As Avenger finished consiming Gilgamesh's heart, he showed a look of surprise. Looks like he sensed the same thing that Gilgamesh did. The Minister is here. Quickly, Avenger waved his wand and said, "Accio Broom!"

With Harry's Firebolt, all the world's evil flew out of the Ministry. That was when Luna has fully woken up. How nice. He gets to talk to her one last time. "Gil?" she questioned, managing to sound shock even as she kept her calm way of speaking. "What happened to you?"

"Harry Potter did this," Yukari answered for him. "He took his heart when Archer was protecting me."

"O-Onee-Chan," Gilgamesh managed to say. "A-Angra Mainyu is here, and h-he's possessing Harry."

"Wait. Angra Mainyu? All the world's evil?!" said Yukari incredulously, but she was stopped from asking more questions by Gilgamesh's glance.

He looked at both her and Luna. "I-It's all up to you now. Nee-Chan, give me your hand."

Luna complied, and Gilgamesh holds on to her right hand. With a little concentration, he gave her one of the treasures that he only has in this world.

"Those are command seals," gasped Yukari. "How?"

Gilgamesh lets out a small laugh. "You're smart. Figure it out."

Command Seals, Noble Phantasms, the name Archer. All of it clicked in Yukari's mind. "You're a Servant," Yukari realized. "What the hell is happening?"

"Ask her," he gestured towards Luna. "I told her everything. Please help her."

"Wait, no!" she screamed desperately, tears coming out of her eyes. "You'll survive! Somehow, you'll survive! We promised to skip grades together! You can't leave me— you can't leave us now! We—"

"We understand," interrupted Luna, giving him a faint smile. "You can rest now, and leave it up to us."

Gilgamesh smiled, and as he felt the life from his body disappear, his vision getting blurrier and darker, he asked one last thing.

"Do you… do you think I redeemed myself? From my older self's actions?"

"You didn't," she said, and seeing his surprised look, she clarified, "You didn't have to redeem yourself of anything. But you did do better than him in more ways than one."

Gilgamesh relaxed. "T-That's good to hear. At least… I died… a true Hero…"

11 years since being summoned, almost one year in this World, Archer of the 4th Holy Grail War, Servant of Tohsaka Tokiomi, Gilgamesh, King of Heroes, has died.

As Yukari Sendo cried over Gil's body, Luna closed his eyes. At the very least, it'll look like he's sleeping.

She felt something coming out of her eye. A tear. That's strange. The last time she shed those was when her mum died.

"I'll kill him," Yukari declared, with pain and anger in her voice. "Harry Potter, Angra Mainyu, it doesn't matter. Whoever he is, I'll kill him,"

Luna isn't sure if she has the resolve to do that. In fact, even after everything Gil told him about the creature, she never felt hatred for the being known as Angra Mainyu. Only pity.

But still. Gil gave them a mission. He gave her these command seals. If it comes down to it, she'll have to strengthen her resolve. Gil is her little brother, and she was taken from him as quickly as she is given. The only thing they can do now is to stop Angra Mainyu, either through reasoning or by force, and end his villainy once and for all.
