Chapter 8

Christmas had gone by extremely smoothly, Rachel and Eddie's relationship had blossomed but the separate beds was killing Eddie on the inside. New year's eve and they both found themselves with a bottle or two of Prosecco, watching the usual tv event in their pyjamas on the sofa. Rachel was snuggled into Eddie her head on his chest and her wine glass in hand, Eddie had an arm around her and his wine glass on the table in front of him.

"This is gonna be a good year for us" Eddie smiled looking down at Rachel.

"It is" Rachel smiled taking a sip of her wine.

"You okay?"

"Yeah I'm just thinking"

"About what?"

Rachel swallowed and sat up "I feel like I want to move to the next step with you, we've been together what six weeks"

"Okay, well I would like that too"

Rachel nodded taking another gulp of her wine as she put her now finished glass on the table. "It's just I'm…"

"A little under rehearsed? Like me?" Eddie asked finishing her sentence.

Rachel blushed and smiled nodding.

"It's alright you know, we've both done it before, so we can take it slow?" Eddie asked reassuringly.

"You don't mind?"

"Of course not" He smiled holding her hand and squeezing it.

"How long we got until midnight?"

"About forty minutes"

"How about we go upstairs with the Prosecco bottle and pop on my tv" Rachel smirked.

Eddie didn't even answer before he stood up and turned the tv off.

"That's a yes then?" Rachel smirked "You okay to lock up whilst I go up?"

"Of course" Eddie smiled

Rachel got up and went upstairs, she went into the bedroom, turned the tv on putting it on quiet so it could still be heard, she undressed and got herself into bed the duvet covering her. Eddie brought up the bottle and smiled seeing Rachel just peeking above the duvet. He put the bottle on the bedside table and sat on the bed taking his top off pulling the duvet of his side back.

"Erm…your forgetting something"

"What? I've got protection?" Eddie said standing the dumbfounded.

"Your shorts…I'm naked, come on" Rachel chuckled.

"I thought you were worried" Eddie chuckled dropping his shorts and then getting into bed. He made Rachel chuckle as he began placing kisses around her neck. Rachel was giggling and as soon as he started she relaxed. Eddie climbed on top of her getting rid of the duvet and began to kiss her passionately as his hands settled gently on her body. Rachel responded to the kiss and placed her hands on his cheeks. After a few moments they broke apart out of breath. "You sure?" Eddie asked once more.

"More than anything" Rachel smiled. Eddie sorted himself out and began then event leaning down to kiss Rachel again. Rachel was in heaven, it had been a good few years since she felt like this and she was enjoying every single second, as was Eddie.

Just as Eddie was finishing, the chimes of Big Ben rang out to symbol the new year. Both Eddie and Rachel laughed as they collapsed into one and other. Eddie rolled back to his side once he caught his breath. "Happy new year my darling" He smiled leaning over and taking the Prosecco bottle taking a sip after raising it to Rachel.

Rachel chuckled taking the bottle off him "Happy new year, god I love you that was amazing" Rachel smiled raising the bottle taking a big gulp of Prosecco laughing as she let go making it spray everywhere.

"What a waste" Eddie laughed taking it off her taking another sip.

"hey these are my new sheets" Rachel chuckled.

Eddie smiled putting the bottle on the side and putting an arm around her "how do you feel?"

"Do you want to move in to my bed?" Rachel asked

"I would love too"

"I mean I can be horse like at night and I might kick you" Rachel chuckled.

"That's a risk I'm willing to take Mason" he smiled and leant down and kissed her.

This year started with a bang for sure!
