He was about to follow Miroku's advice and go try to sleep when someone knocked at his door. He walked down the stairs and waited a moment to see if there was truly someone outside, the noise of the rain and the overpowering smell of humid dirt and water didn't allow his senses to get a clear imagine of whomever it was on the other side of the door, or if there was even someone.

When a minute passed and there was no sound he assumed he had misheard and turned to go back to bed, he was half way up the stairs when the knocking came back, fighting the urge to groan and roll his eyes he turned and leap the distance from the stairs to the door. "Who is it?" he asked gruffly but there wasn't an answer. Narrowing his eyes he decided to just open the door, it wasn't as though whomever that was at the other side would be able to cause him harm even if that was his intention.

What he saw when he opened the door had his breath catching on his throat. There, standing on his front door, soaked to the bond by the pouring rain, was Kagome, bracing her torso with her arms and slightly shaking because of the cold. He opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of the water, not able to form a single sentence. She looked up at him and bit her bottom lip as she often did when she was worried or anxious. "Can I… can I come in?" she asked breaking the uncomfortable silence "I guess, that's a no, huh?" she concluded when he didn't move nor say a thing, and with a sigh she turned back to leave. What was he thinking? Why, of all the times, his body decided to fail him now? She was there, in front of him, by her own will just as he had dreamed so many times before, and he was standing there like an idiot letting her go again. "Fuck" he let out breaking from his stupor and reached out to grab her arm and pulled her inside the door closing it behind him in the process.
