The Accident had a major blow to Sasuke's legs. Not that he couldn't walk but he had to rest for few months before they were back to normal. The physiotherapist appointed by Konoha Medical Hospital prescribed enough nedicines for an early recovery. Sakura spent her entire time in caring for the younger Uchiha from feeding to helping him take a bath to helping him walk steps.
Few months have passed by and now Sasuke could walk around with clutches with little to no stumbling. In the few months of knowing each, Sasuke and Sakura had grown on each other. Sakura knew that inside the hard emotionless facade, Sasuke was a very caring and kind person. She got to know how he was burdened with the company's affairs after Itachi left. Since childhood, Itachi was groomed to be the legal heir so Sasuke was often neglected by his father. Conversations with him werre pleasant now as he spoke more instead of the grunts or nods.
On the other hand, Sasuke also got to know Sakura. He also realized, after many months of marriage, that his wife was quite beautiful. She was kind and always willing to help him, be it walking or eating. She wanted to pursue a medical career had circumstances were suitable. Sakura was also quite efficient in her duty as his father's secretary. Although she came from a mediocre background, yet Sasuke found no evil motives inside her. They have become great friends in each other's company.
Few days later would be their one year of marriage and Sasuke could walk around effortlessly now. 30th of December was the day Sasuke and Sakura would decide about their married life. A flicker of hope blossomed in Sakura's heart as she thought that Sasuke might reconsider their marriage. In the dew months of being in company of Sasuke, Sakura had fallen for him, not because of his wealth or looks but for his personality and the joy of knowing the real Uchiha Sasuke under the tough exterior facade.
The day soon arrived. Legal proceedings were carried on regarding the marriage. The Uchiha family and the Haruno family were present at the court and soon the judge, Hatake Kakashi arrived.
"As your contract says, today is the one year anniversary of Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura. The decision to stay together as a married couple would be taken. If either of the two parties is dissatisfied with the marriage, the contract states that the marriage will be called off. So let me hear Uchiha-san's decision first."
Without any hesitation Sasuke went towards the judge to declare the decision.
"I, Uchiha Sasuke, declare to divorce Sakura-san. We are better off as friends. Sakura is very kind and generous but I don't think that she is the one with whom I can spend the rest of my life with."
Collective gasps of disbelief were heard in the room. Mikoto and Mebuki's facial expressions were similar. These two sentences were enough to shatter Sakura's heart into pieces. With a heavy heart and a cracking voice, she signed the divorce papers and left the room. It was evident from her face that she was trying hard not to shed her tears.
An end to a one-year marriage was enough to break her heart into pieces again. In a matter of 12 months, she was once again Haruno Sakura from Uchiha Sakura.
