At the School…

Nagasumi didn't know why, but he felt like something is wrong.

In fact, ever since he took down that evil catfish merman that tried to force Sun into a marriage, he felt odd, like a switch was just flicked inside him. He wondered if he was just sick, or it was because he was just feeling antsy about the whole Beastfolk situation. No, it was something else that he couldn't explain. Like he wasn't even himself anymore.

He was sleeping more peacefully, he's been eating more chicken and he keeps finding cat hair all over the house, black cat hair, not white from his pet.

Nagasumi began getting headaches as well as they can be slight to intense enough to blur his vision. He talked to Miss. Rin about the headaches, and she believed it was due to stress. The teenager was scheduled to go to the doctor after school today.

He told no one of this, not his friends, not his parents, not Sun. He asked Miss. Rin for a private appointment since he didn't want anyone to worry if it was nothing. So, he kept it to himself. If it is serious, then he'll tell.

"Nagasumi?" A voice poked through as Nagasumi woke up from his thoughts.

It was Sun.

"Yes, Sun? Sorry I just had my head up in the clouds." He apologized to her.

"I was asking if you were okay. You seem a little pale." Sun answered as it caught the attention of Mawari and the others.

"Nagasumi, if you are sick then you need to go to the nurse's office." The demonic member of the disciplinary comity advised, "Maybe I should teach you the rules of this society."

"Nagasumi… if you feel unwell, I would be happy to escort you to the nurse's office." Chiyo shyly offered as everyone began to intervene.

"What's going on with Nagasumi?" Chimp wondered.

"He's sick," Lunar answered as Kai began to panic.

"Keep him away from me! That biohazard can destroy this beautiful body!" Kai screamed in fear.

"Guys, it not that-." Nagasumi began then sneezed as it caused an immediate reaction.

Sun rushed to Nagasumi.

Lunar jumped by the sneeze.

Akeno wrote down symptoms for Nagasumi.

Saturn, Yuhiteru, and Maruko were preparing for his funeral.

Mawari and Chiyo were prepared to carry Nagasumi to the nurse.

Kai screamed and fled out of the room.

"Come on, Nagasumi. It's time you saw the nurse!" Mawari ordered as she whistled for the girls to carry the boy to the nurse's office while the boys were jealous.

Later at the Hospital…

Rin Seto decided that since Nagasumi was brought to her office that it was best to send him to the hospital to be diagnosed with his symptoms.

By the time Nagasumi was in the room, coughed up blood and fainted, causing the doctors and nurses to rush him to the emergency room and Rin to contact everyone on what's going on. The doctors were looking him over as they were stunned by what was going on with his body.

"Doctor?" One of the nurses asked.

"Take a look at this and tell me what you see." The doctor requested as there were images of X-rays from Nagasumi's organs, bones, and veins.

"That's not right. They shouldn't look like that, it looks likes they're going through a change on their own, a painful one." The nurse analyzed.

"I've never seen anything like it, but it could be a form of mutation, a very serious one." The Doctor theorized as he began to dial someone, "Luckily, I know someone who is an expert on things like this."

"You mean-?"

"Yes. Dr. Baneswell, this is Dr. Hirose. I need you to come right away. There is a patient that seems to be-. Oh, you can make it. Good."

Later in the Waiting Room…

Sun and the others were on edge after learning that Nagasumi was ill at the hospital.

There was a grim aura as they heard how Nagasumi spewed blood and fainted.

"Why… Why didn't Nagasumi say anything?" Sun muttered to herself, "Why didn't tell me he was suffering?"

"He didn't think it was a big deal, he didn't want you to worry over nothing," Rin told her daughter as she held her close.

"D-don't worry, Miss. Sun. The Sea louse is harder to kill than a cockroach. I'm sure he'll be up on his feet again in no time." Maki in her human form smiled, though not certain herself.

"Yeah, the manservant is not allowed to die unless I told him," Lunar added as she was upset too.

Then came the doctor.

"Well?" Nagasumi's mother asked, "Is my son okay?"

"Well, we have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?" The Doctor wondered with a clipboard in hand.

"The bad, I need to hear what is happening to Nagasumi." Sun requested as she needed to know.

"The bad news is that the illness is really a rare form of a painful mutation. It seems when Nagasumi reached a certain part in his life to activate the mutated gene that is causing the dangerous effects."

Mutation?

Masa listened as he had a bad feeling in his gut.

"And the good?" Nagasumi's mother wondered.

"The good news is that it can be treated and Nagasumi can live a normal life afterward." Dr. Hirose smiled, "Allow me to introduce the person overseeing the treatment, Dr. Baneswell."

The man was grey with features to indicate he came from another land.

"Greetings, my name is Dr. Richard Baneswell, I am quite pleased to meet you." He introduced himself as you can hear his British accent, "Don't worry about your friend, I know exactly what to do with him."

That last bit sounded a bit sinister as Masa looked at the man with suspicion.

"Can you make Nagasumi well again?" Sun pleaded as the doctor ruffled her hair.

"Do not worry, I am an expert on this and Nagasumi will be just fine under my care. Just fine." He promised as he turned to Nagasumi's parents, "Now, I need you to sign a few things and we can begin."

As the doctor led the couple to another room, Masa felt that the doctor cannot be trusted.
