Meanwhile Karen visited Rick in his house, attempting to win him back. With Karen's mother being good friends with Lilia, she easily got in and to Rick's bedroom while he was still gone. When Rick got home, he saw Karen in his bedroom, naked. "What the f*ck are you doing here? And why are you naked?" he told her angrily. "I'm here babe~ Take me!" she cooed, "get the f*ck out!", Karen was shocked at how Rick disgustingly looked at her and shooed her away, she grabbed her clothes and wore them again. She snapped at Rick after, "Why are you like this?! Is it because the new farmer is prettier? Does she have a better body than me? I'm just trying to make you like me again!", "It's not about the body Karen, even if you strip in front of me I still don't like you! And you'll never be like Y/N!" Rick snapped back. "But i'm your girlfriend! You're supposed to love me more than her!", "You are NOT my girlfriend! Since when did I ask you to be my girlfriend, huh?" Rick questioned her. "When we were still young! You promised me in the lake that you'll marry me someday and we'll be together forever! Have you forgotten?", "My god Karen! That was a long time ago! We were just kids during that time! Do you honestly think that it's real?!" Karen was taken aback from the words that Rick said. Her heart falling into the ground and shattering into pieces. After a short while, Karen decided to avenge her broken heart by saying "Well you keep dreamin rick!" she smirked, Rick was confused on what she was trying to say "What do you mean?", "As if Y/N is gonna like you back, she has a boyfriend now". Karen hastily walked past Rick, storming off from his room. Rick chased back Karen, curious to know who this is, praying inside that it is not what he thinks it is. "Karen wait!", Karen continued to walk hastily down the stairs, ignoring Rick. "Who is her boyfriend?!", Rick chased down the flight of stairs, as Karen successfully got out of their house. Rick sighed and looked angrily at his mom. "Next time mom don't let anyone in my room! Not even Karen! She's not my girlfriend!" Lilia was startled and felt sorry when Rick stormed back to his room, slamming the door loudly.
Deep inside he knew it was Trent, did he actually lose Y/N? A part of him refused to believe, it was so sudden if it really is true. Rick knew he really needed to talk to you asap. The Fireworks Festival came and he saw you there on the beach, with Trent again. It couldn't be right...He's not your boyfriend, right? You and Trent were setting up the beach towels to sit on when Rick suddenly appeared beside you. Trent immediately stood up and glared at Rick. Seeing the tension, you decided to stand up as well, making yourself the barrier in between them. "U-uhhh, hi?" you awkwardly said, Rick still not breaking eye contact with Trent said "Can I talk to you for a second?". Trent instinctively placed his hand on your shoulder, gently pulling you close. You looked at him and said "It's ok Trent, I'll be fine, we won't go anywhere", you smiled reassuringly as you went with Rick just right outside the Snack Shack of Kai.
"What do you want?" you crossed your arms around your chest. "I just.. Just let me explain. I wasn't able to explain to you since the last time we met." Rick stated. You looked at him with your bored eyes waiting for him to go on "Karen isn't my girlfriend, ok?", he said trying to find a spark in your eyes. "Then why did she say she was? And why didn't you contest when she dragged you away?" you casually dodged his statement. "It's because I don't wanna hurt her since she's my childhood friend! But really.. She isn't my girlfriend". You raised your eyebrow, still not believing him. "Look, she thought she was my girlfriend just because I promised her when we were kids that I'm gonna marry her someday. It wasn't even real, we were just kids back then! I didn't expect her to take it seriously until now", your expression softened a little but a part of you is still hurt from what happened. "You should at least apologize to her for stringing her hopes up." you casually said. "I will.." Rick sighed "If that will make you happy, I'll do it for you..", just as you were about to leave and end this conversation, Rick called you back "But can we...start over again, as friends?" He stretched out his hand in which you looked at him and looked back at it. You hesitantly shook it, sighing "alright. I guess we could still be friends". You went back to sit beside Trent to watch the Fireworks. He asked you what you two were talking about and you told him "He wanted to be friends with me again, and I told him to apologize to Karen for what he did to her", he looked at you with worried eyes "Are you sure about that?", you nodded and leaned your head on his shoulder. Trent sighed and just watched the fireworks while wrapping his arm around you.
