Chapter 8: Let's Travel
After a month of summer school, the time finally came where the boys would be able to bust out and enjoy their summer again. The boys had dreamed of this day ever since they stepped foot inside the school. As the sun slowly set, Phineas and Ferb knew what time it was. In the next few hours, Phineas, Ferb, Annalise, Sophia, and Quentin would be boarding the time machine and heading back to the time before they got in trouble.
As their last lecture came to an end, all the students were told to go back to their respective rooms. However, Annalise, Sophia, and Quentin secretly walked into Phineas and Ferb's room. Tonight, was the night where they were going to escape. The five of them then went through the ceiling and onto the roof of the summer, where the time machine was stored. The five of them then walked up to the time machine, and opened the door to the capsule, where they would be seated. Slowly, they slid into the time machine. Phineas was seated in the middle, which was right in front of the control panel. The time machine itself was rather simple. It did not have any extra wires, or panels. All it had was a panel with a keypad, that had numbers, letters, and special characters. As the five of them slid into the capsule, Annalise who the last to enter, shut the door behind her. The five of them were ready to get back their summer, which had been taken from them. Phineas then started to type on his keypad. He typed the date of the first day of summer. He then proceeded to press the red button which was beside him. Suddenly, the machine powered and started flying towards the air. It flew with speed, however Phineas felt as if something was off. He decided to park the time machine and check what was wrong with it. After a few minutes of precisely checking every square inch of the machine, Phineas figured out the problem. The problem was that the magical orb was very unbalanced, causing lots of excess energy to pour out all the sides. In order to fix this, they would need to make a small enclosure around the magical orb, to make sure that the orb was actually stable. Lucky for them, they had lots of scrap material left over from building the time machine. Phineas and Ferb then proceeded by making a very large and dense block of metal, which perfectly fit over the cube. This time, the time machine was ready to take off. As they slowly slid into the time machine, Annalise shut the door behind them, and Phineas typed the date of the first day of summer again. The five of them were very anxious to see if the machine would actually work this time. Then Phineas proceeded to hit the big red button. This time however, the time machine flew into the air at a very fast speed. It broke the sound barrier and created a portal. As the machine got sucked into the portal, everything seemed to be moving at an abnormally fast speed. The machine was surround in a purplish/pinkish smoke, as it was traveling further and further. The children in the capsule were amazed at what they were seeing. They had not imagined time traveling in a million years. At the capsule progressed through what seemed like a never-ending tunnel, the group of children, finally saw some light. Suddenly before they could reach the light at the end, they were abruptly dropped someplace else. The machine fell out the tunnel and landed straight up on the ground. Minimal damage was done to the machine, but the boys had a bigger problem. They had not been dropped down in the right time period. Instead of traveling to the beginning of summer, the boys accidentally traveled a few million years back, and now where in the Mesozoic Era, where the presence of dinosaurs was dominant on Earths surface. Phineas was sure that he had made no mistakes, but upon further checking to the machine he figured out where they messed up.
