It was the second day at UA for Izuku and so far he didn't know what to expect. His homeroom teacher had basically thrown his entire class into a frenzy just to see how they all performed under pressure. If that was only the first day he didn't know how he was going to handle 3 whole years.
As he made his way onto the school grounds he stifled a yawn as he passed the security gate. It was then that he noticed Kendo up ahead.
"Good morning Kendo-san." Izuku said as he tried to hold back another yawn.
"Good morning Midoriya, did you sleep okay?" she asked, concerned about her friend.
"Oh, sorry about that. After school yesterday I sort of went to train with my sensei." Izuku explained "After I told him about Aizawa-sensei's test he decided that I should be ready to handle more surprises so ended up doing more core training on top of my technique training."
"Wow, that sounds intense." Kendo said
"Yeah, I guess I'll have to adjust to training twice as much from now on." Izuku said as they made their way through the building.
"You'll get the hang of it Midoriya, and if you want I can be a sparring partner for you." Kendo offered
"You practice martial arts?" Izuku asked
Itsuka chuckled for a bit before she answered him, "That's right I never got to explain to you, I've been practicing since I was a kid." Kendo said "I'm actually very close to becoming a blackbelt."
Izuku was dumbfounded to know that his newest friend also practiced martial arts, not to mention that she was skilled enough to nearly be a blackbelt.
"Wow, that's amazing Kendo-san." Izuku said "I'll be sure to take you up on that some time."
As they were talking they made it to their classroom and took their seats. As Izuku waited for class to start he began to think about how his training was going so far. As of late he had been taught a few techniques, but he still didn't feel comfortable on how to execute them. Maybe he would take Kendo up on her offer, but then he'd have to ask Shirahama-sensei if it were okay to bring someone to Ryozanpaku to train. He'd have to ask after class.
As it was time for class to start, everyone noticed that Aizawa wasn't at the front of the classroom. No one even saw his sleeping bag so they could rule out him sleeping behind the podium. Just as they were about to question where their teacher was, the door suddenly opened.
"I am...entering the classroom like a normal person!" All Might said as he strode into the classroom.
"Woah it's really All Might!"
"And he's wearing his 'Silver Age' costume!"
"Man UA really is something else!"
Many students were excited as All Might came into the class, and for a good reason. It wasn't every day that the number one hero was about to teach a class.
"Good morning young heroes in training, today you're going to get first hand experience on how to deal with a villain attack." All Might said as he reached behind himself and pulled out a card that had the word 'BATTLE' written on it. "That's right! We're going to be doing combat training today!"
With this most of the class cheered at the prospect of getting combat practice from the best hero in Japan. As they were cheering, All Might took out a remote and pressed a button that opened up a section of the front wall. As the wall came open 20 numbered suitcases could be seen.
"Be sure to grab your costumes and head over to the locker rooms and meet me at training ground Beta! I shall see you soon my students!" All Might said as he dashed out of the room.
The class then hurried to grab their suitcases and proceeded to the locker rooms to get changed.
After everyone had gotten changed, they made their way to Ground Beta to meet up with All Might. The number one hero was currently waiting for the majority of his class to arrive before addressing them all.
"They say that the clothes make the hero, so by that logic you've all made your first step on the long road to becoming pros!" All Might said as he took in some of the costumes his students were wearing.
Some had complex costumes that seemed geared towards accommodating their quirks while others kept their designs relatively simple. One example being Iida's armor like costume that was made to be aerodynamic for running at high speeds.
As everyone had filtered in, the only one currently missing was Izuku.|
"Has anyone seen young Midoriya anywhere? The lesson is about to begin." All Might inquired.
Before anyone could answer Izuku had run onto the training ground.
He was wearing a green Dougi that had the sleeves removed. He also wore black Kung Fu pants and shoes. As he was running up to the group Izuku was tying muay kaad chuek onto his arms.
"I hadn't had much practice tying these on my own so it took me a little longer to get it right." Izuku said as he finished tying the last knot.
"Very well, just be more mindful of the time in the future Young Midoriya." All Might said as the green haired student nodded "Now, today you will all be going through a pre planned scenario."
All Might then took out a sheet of paper and read out what the students would be doing.
"Two villains have stolen a doomsday weapon and are hiding in an abandoned building. It will be up to two heroes to secure the weapon and apprehend the villains before the time limit runs out." All Might read aloud "Any questions?"
"Will we get expelled if we fail?"
"Can we beat anyone up as much as we like?"
"How are the pairs going to be decided?"
"Isn't this cape crazy?"
"NOT ALL AT ONCE!" All Might boomed "Now, one at a time."
As soon as All Might was done, someone raised their hand
"Yes, Young Jiro?"
"Why are we fighting indoors? Aren't villain fights usually outside?" Jiro asked
"Ah, good question! You see statistically speaking most villain activity is done behind closed doors. Secret meetings and backroom deals of that sort." All Might explained "You'll more than likely encounter a villain indoors than outdoors, so we'll train you for each eventuality!"
All Might then motioned over to a box that had been set up.
"Now, everyone take a card from the box and you'll be sorted into pairs." All Might said as everyone formed a line and took a card from the box. Every two cards had a letter on it that went from A to J. Once everyone had a card they then found their partners. Lucky for Izuku he was paired with Kendo.
"Now to announce the matchups for the battle trial!" All Might said as he pulled similar cards from two other boxes that had the words hero and villain written on them. Once he was done All Might read off each of the match ups.
Team A (Izuku Midoriya & Itsuka Kendo) vs Team D (Katsuki Bakugo & Eijiro Kirishima)
Team B (Shoto Todoroki & Tenya Iida) vs Team I (Hanta Sero & Ochaco Uraraka)
Team H (Fumikage Tokoyami & Mina Ashido) vs Team J (Virgil Hawkins & Rikido Sato)
Team G (Tsuyu Asui & Yuga Aoyama) vs Team C (Momo Yaoyorozu & Kyoka Jiro)
Team E (Mezo Shoji & Toru Hagakure) vs Team F (Minoru Mineta & Kitty Pryde)
Seeing that he'd have to fight his childhood bully, Izuku steeled himself. Sure at one point he would have been shaking like a leaf at the thought of having to face Bakugo, but now he had a quirk of his own not to mention people who were helping him get stronger. He wasn't going to be a punching bag any longer.
"Alright, Teams A and D make your preparations. Everyone else, follow me to the observation room." All Might said as the rest of the class began to leave. "I'll signal you all when we're ready to begin."
Izuku and Kendo were currently standing in front of the building waiting for All Might to give the signal to begin the test. During this time, Kendo noticed that Izuku was tensing up a bit.
"Are you okay Midoriya?" Kendo asked
Snapping out of his trance-like state, Izuku responded "I'm just trying to get ready for what might happen."
"What do you mean?" Kendo asked
"Me and Bakugo have a sort of history, ever since we were little he used to pick on me for not having a quirk." Izuku said, he immediately realized what he said and started to stammer for a bit "I-i mean, I'm a bit of a late bloomer so it took a long time for my quirk to show up. But he didn't care, and for the longest time I ended up becoming his target for 'quirk practice'."
"Midoriya, that's horrible." Kendo said shocked "How did he even get into this school if he did something like that? Didn't you tell anyone?"
Izuku then shook his head, "It didn't matter, our teachers thought that he had the best chance of getting into UA so they looked the other way most of the time." He then took a deep breath. "Knowing all that, he's most likely going to come after me."
Izuku then turned to Kendo, and as their eyes met she saw nothing but determination in his eyes.
"Kendo-san, this may sound selfish, but I want you to leave Bakugo to me." Izuku said.
Kendo wanted to protest, they could easily handle him together, but she knew that he had to do this.
"Alright Midoriya, I'll leave him to you." Kendo said
Soon, an air horn sounded letting everyone in the area know that the battle trial had begun.
-HSH-
The battle trial hadn't been going on for long, as both Izuku and Itsuka had managed to sweep the first floor. The weapon wasn't on that floor so they went up to the second level. As they were making their way through the second floor they crossed paths with Bakugo.
Waiting no time Izuku activated One For All.
"Kendo-san, go get the weapon, I'll deal with him!" Izuku shouted as he got into his stance.
Itsuka simply nodded and ran the other direction to continue her search for the weapon.
"You got real cocky you damn nerd! Do you really think you can take make?!" Bakugo said as he rocketed forward towards Izuku and cocked his right arm backwards. As he swung his right arm forwards Izuku grabbed Bakugo's arm and flipped him towards the ground.
"Listen here Bakugo, because I'm only going to say this once!" Izuku said to his former friend "I am not the same kid you used to pick on, and I am no coward!"
As he began to speak, green lightning began to spark off of Izuku's body.
"I am Izuku Midoriya, and I will be history's mightiest hero!"
