Chapter Eight:
"Please tell me that Kai did not ignore our bedrest orders!" Lloyd exclaimed as he stared at the spot where the master of water and the two werewolves had been a second before.
Zane sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "I wish I could say that... but that was Kai that knocked Eagle Caught Prey, along with Nya, into the water."
"Seriously?" Lloyd muttered, even as Jay moved closer to the damaged deck.
"What are we waiting for? Kai hates water and with his injured leg, I don't think we should let him stay down there for long!" Jay crouched down at the edge of the dock, eyeing the splintered wood.
"What are you talking about? That was a werewolf, not Kai!" Skylor blurted out, confusion flooding her.
None of the ninja seemed to notice this as they scrambled forward with the intention to pull Nya and the mystery werewolf, whom they were positive was Kai for some reason, out of the water. "I cannot sense them..." Zane warned the others as he scanned the water.
"Probably because we're over here and I'm already plotting ways to murder my brother." Nya called out from where she was half dragging a drenched Kai out of the choppy water and onto dry land.
"Nya! Kai!" Skylor ran over to check on them, all the while wondering where Kai came from. Upon approaching the siblings, she noticed that Kai had a long gash on his leg, which couldn't support his weight. "What happened!?"
"Um... I crashed into Eagle Caught Prey since he was holding sis prisoner... did you not see me crash into him?" Kai blinked, confusion clouding his features. "That and you can't kill me sis."
That was when Cole slapped his forehead suddenly. "I knew we were forgetting something! We forgot to tell the others that Kai and Nya are both werewolves!" Skylor wondered vaguely if it would be alright to smack them for that.
"Cole... next time tell our friends before I show up in wolf form!" Kai reached over and smacked Cole in the back of the head.
The master of earth rubbed the back of his neck, blushing with embarrassment. "Sorry..."
Skylor sighed as she moved closer, quickly wrapping her arms around her boyfriend's neck. "I'm just glad that you two are alright."
"Um... according to the prophesy that Mom found this means that the Great Alpha of prophesy is Kai..."
"No! Stop talking right there Lloyd!" Kai shot a glare at his surrogate little brother.
Sparrow Field coughed, his brow furrowing in thought. "We do need you to step into your role as an Alpha, Fire that Burns Brighter than the Noonday Sun, so that we can heal from the damage that Alpha Eagle Caught Prey caused."
Kai groaned, before glancing over at his new family, his new pack, for support... "We'll make sure that Ninjago doesn't completely fall apart while your gone."
"Gee... I can o feel the love here guys." Sarcasm dripped from Kai's voice as he turned away from the others. "I guess I'm headed back to Wolvania then."
It's been six weeks since Kai left to reform, and unite, all of the Packs. Jay and Nya were watching a romance movie on the television, while Zane was whipping up some dinner. Cole was in the Ninja's private gym, lifting weights, meanwhile Lloyd was sitting in on a very important political meeting...
Lloyd stifled a yawn, boredom itching just under his skin. Why he had to draw the short straw every time, he had no idea... and his suspicions that the others cheated didn't necessarily helped matters. The Emperor clapped his hands together loudly, drawing Lloyd back to the present. "Now that we've confirmed the terms for the Allegiance between Ninjago and the Serpentine Kingdom we may now sign the treaty!"
A servant scurried forward with a gold pen, which Scales picked up with his scaly hand swiftly signing the treaty paper that was between him and the Emperor. "Wonderful! Thisss will be a benefit for all of our peoplessss!"
Lloyd drummed his fingers slightly on the hilt of his sword, frustration edging into his very body. He was a warrior! Not a babysitter... well... more like Emperor sitter. Why did he have to draw the short straw every single time?!
"Wonderful! Which nation is next on the list?" The Emperor turned to face Hutchins, who was apparently in charge of today's schedule.
Lloyd vaguely wondered how many more nations there could possibly be. They've done the Skullkin, Serpentine, and a whole lot of others that he didn't even recognize! "Ah... Wolvanai is the last one sir."
Wait... wasn't that Kai's nation? "Ah! Of course! Send their ruler right on in."
Something told Lloyd that things were finally were going to get interesting. And it had nothing to do with the fact that Kai walked in through the door, one eyebrow arched upwards. "Yeah...no. I'm already one of your protectors so I don't need to sign a dumb peace treaty."
"What?!" The Emperor spluttered loudly, staring at the new Alpha as if he were insane.
"You heard me. I don't need a dumb treaty to say that I'll help you. I'm already one of Ninjago's protectors to begin with. That should be good enough for you."
"The signing of the treaty makes it official!"
"And I'm telling you that it makes zero sense for me to sign one so I'm not gonna do that."
"But we haven't even discussed the benefits of signing the treaty yet!"
"Yeah... I'm not interested in any of that. I'm more interested in protecting you guys from your enemies that you can't deal with without me."
"We can take care of our own!"
"Chen? Morro? Great Devourer? Overlord? Digital Overlord? I believe I helped defeat each of those guys while you hid in your fancy palace."
"That was the ninjas! Now if you would please just discuss the potential of this treaty with me..."
"Yeah, no means no. If you need me I'll be with the rest of the ninjas." Kai spun around and walked out the door like it was no big deal.
No one seemed to notice that Lloyd had fallen to the ground laughing at some point during the conversation...
