Chapter 8
Date With Childe
Starlight walked out of the building, closing the door behind her. Then a voice got her attention.
"Hey!" said the voice.
She turned to her right to see Childe walking towards her.
"Hey Childe!" she said as he got closer.
"I see you've met Zhongli." he said.
"Yes." she replied.
"Hope he didn't give you a hard time." he said.
"No he didn't. He just helped me figure out where I came from, why I have this power, and who I am." Starlight said.
"You mean you don't know who you are?" Childe asked.
"I mean, I know my name is Starlight. I apparently come from Liyue and I have a Vision which I don't know much about. I don't remember my past. The only thing I remember is losing my Mother at a young age." Starlight explained.
"Interesting. If you're not busy, we can continue this conversation over lunch." Childe offered.
Starlight, ever so sharp, crossed her arms and looked up at Childe with eyebrows raised.
"Is this going to be a date?" she asks.
Childe chuckles nervously.
"Not necessarily. It's just a chat with a comrade."
"Oh! So now I'm your comrade?"
"I thought we were already comrades." Childe said, knowing Starlight was teasing him.
Starlight giggled. "I'm only teasing. Of course we can chat over lunch."
"Well then, shall we?"
So Starlight and Childe had lunch together. While they did, Starlight explained everything from Shona finding her and taking care of her, to meeting Venti in Mondstadt, to meeting Xiao the Adepti, meeting Childe and then having the same dream, and then up to meeting Zhongli.
"So, you really don't remember your past?" Childe asks after Starlight was done explaining.
"No, I don't and I can't seem to get away from the dream I keep having." Starlight said, frustrated.
"Maybe the dream is sending you a message." Childe suggested.
"That's what Xiao said too. I just don't know what to do." Starlight laid her head on the table, her cheek pressing against her arm.
Childe gently puts his hand over hers and looks at her with gentle eyes.
"You'll figure it out. I know it." he said.
Starlight lifts her head up and smiles at him.
