So.
I've never really been one for consistently updating, and I don't really think anyone much cares but I've been doing some thinking and I realized that there are some things I want to clear up about how this story will be going long term. I feel I owe it to the very few fans to know the general direction of this story, so no one is disappointed. With that said, I need to say a couple things.
One of the main things I want to address with my story is RWBY's very often poor character writing, especially of the modern series. This show has always been very dear to me so it's only made some of the baffling decisions RT has made hurt more. But I also have to acknowledge some of my positive feelings towards the show are an amalgamation of the actual show I watched, and the various fantastic (and not so) fan works ive consumed over the years. I basically just hope to be able to write these characters in a believable fashion, and not ruin or skew them too much for my own writings. However I have made it clear that I am not exactly fond of a lot of the recent actions taking place in RWBY (I sometimes regret catching up) so I can say now that if you really like the "development" put towards characters like Ironwood, do not expect that here. In my story I plan to take some of the characters in a different direction, fitting more along the lines of what I think would be more believable than what we ultimately got. I have no ill will towards those who work on RWBY or love it (in fact I really wish I could too) but ultimately I don't feel excited much about watching the show anymore.
I don't exactly see this as a bad thing though. Many, even very good, fanfictions eventually fall into the pitfall of following the original near beat for beat but with some minor changes but since I feel the way I do, my story will have quite the significant changes. Next I feel the need to talk about the Main Character: Ace. While I've presented this as sort of an SI, I don't plan to keep Ace in tone with how most earthlings would act. Part of this is for entertainment obviously, as SI characters are often boring (though I can't much blame people for it being harder to make a totally normal human interesting when put with cartoon characters). Part of it however, stems from flaws that will develop more and more as the story progresses.
Ace will not always be some paragon of moral justice that OCs sometimes are, he can and will make mistakes and he won't be passed doing some of the things the shows' normal main characters would. Ultimately Ace will be a flawed and sometimes impulsive character, but I hope to be able to use this to make the story more interesting. Some villains he will hope to redeem but others he will decide himself are too far gone, and it won't always be clear that he made the right decision. Also he will grow to fit more and more into the Remnant lifestyle so fight scenes with him will not always be a simple fight for survival, but I plan to stay far far awar from making him too overpowered. I simply hope to make a character who's equal parts believable and entertaining, meaning he will get his moments in the spotlight but he will also be beat down considerably.
Sorry to rant at you all, I just felt it was important to clear some things up about this small story.
With all that said
Thank you all for sticking with me,
I hope to be back with a new chapter real soon.
