AN: And now we have (one) prophesied meeting.

After this, Jacob will be largely absent until a later chapter. You'll still get some glimpses of what's going on with Team Canon, but they will be gone for a while too.

Chapter Eight: Siblings

Entry #24

It's been a couple of weeks since the HIVE attacked us and nearly took the Tower. Things have been quite for the most part, but I have a feeling that we are being watched for…something. Another strange thing that has happened is that Cinderblock broke into prison. We don't know who exactly was freed, since the guy in charge—a rather enigmatic man by the name of Adrian Finch—wouldn't tell us.

Anyway, during the prison break, Robin and Cyborg got into a fight, which caused Cyborg to leave the team. After that, everyone was pretty glum, and I learned not to trust anything that Starfire has cooked, given that it seems to be unhealthy for human beings. Later that night, some kind of slime monster called Plasmus broke into a chemical factory, and my own powers proved completely useless against it. So I was stuck running away, while everyone else fought…

I ran through the factory, cursing the circumstances that caused Cyborg to leave. Cursing Plasmus' immunity to my powers. Cursing myself for my inability to fight back. I came to a stop somewhere deeper in the factory, surrounded by machines and pipes. "Raven?" I asked as I turned around. She was behind me earlier. She must have been attacked by one of the creatures created by Plasmus. I readied myself to search the area, but a voice broke my conversation.

"No, but it is good to see that you are alive."

I snapped into a battle stance, scanning the area for the source of the voice. "Who's there! Show yourself!"

"Relax." The voice spoke again. "We're not here to fight."

I blinked. "We?"

"Behind us!" Light hissed.

I turned around, and indeed there was someone behind me. The person behind me was lanky, but not without muscle. He stood tall at 6'2" and was dressed in a dark blue trench coat that was unbuttoned, along with black jeans and a sweatshirt that had the number seven on it. The man was certainly disturbed, as he also wore some kind of severed hand on his face, and his cyan colored hair obscured his eyes.

A second figure exited the shadows, dressed entirely in silver armor, completed with a helmet that had only one eyehole. "We are here to talk."

I flexed my fingers a little, feeling electricity course through my hands. "What do you have to say, then?"

"We know who you are, Sean Kirk." The cyan-haired man spoke. "And we will accept you regardless of your origins."

"Accept me into what?" I asked.

"Our organization, Sean Wilson." The armored woman spoke up this time as she began to pace around me.

I grimaced. "Answers. How do you know my name and who leads you?!"

The cyan-haired man let out a dark chuckle. "You already know our master's name, Kirk."

"…Slade." I guessed. "He sent the HIVE after us."

"Not the Titans." The armored woman revealed. "You."

"Why?"

"To test you…brother."

Miles away, a young man stood over the corpse of one Doctor Arthur Light, fitting the last piece of the criminal's power suit around his right hand. "And now, I will become what the world needs…" The young man began.

"I will be Luminous…"

"…Brother?" I asked, utterly stunned.

The cyan haired man spoke again. "You may as well show him, Zero."

The armored woman—Zero—removed the helmet. Under it was a near exact copy of myself, save for the eyes. One shone a deep red while the other was a strange shade of brown that neared pitch black. "Like I said, it's good to see you again…brother."

"…How?" I asked. "How is this—!"

The cyan-haired man raised his left hand. "All will be revealed, Sean. But only if you join us."

Zero nodded. "We'll give you time to think this over, brother mine."

As they left, I stretched my hand out to my newfound sister. "Wait! You never told me your name!"

She placed her helmet back on her head. "Samantha Wilson."

Cyborg returned later, aiding Robin against Plasmus. He also had brought Cinderblock down prior to his return to the team. While I did care about this, I was also preoccupied with my meeting with Zero—my twin sister—and the other man, whose name I don't know, but his presence was familiar to me.

I didn't tell anyone about this, even though I should have. There is a lot I probably should have told them, and it keeps troubling me. Slade knows who I am and where I am from, I have a sister who was somehow born here, and the feeling that I am being watched won't stop!

What am I supposed to

I flinched as someone knocked on the door to my room. "Friend Blitz! It is I, Starfire! I wish to communicate with you!"

I sighed and went to the door and opened it. Starfire stood on the other side, a concerned look on her face. "Are you well friend Blitz? It has been a while since you have left your room."

I blinked and then looked at the clock. 11:15PM. "Did I just spend the whole day in my…?"

"Yes. Go outside you fucking shut in." Rude interrupted.

"S-sorry about that." I stuttered out, scratching the back of my head. "I must've lost track of time!"

"I see." Starfire said, perking up. "Shall we commence the eating of unhealthy foods?"

"Sure, Star."

I whistled as I looked at the heavy storm outside. "Raining cats and dogs out there." Another bolt of lightning lit up the sky as Starfire gasped.

"We must go and rescue them!" She cried, crouching down into a ready position.

"No, wait!" I yelled, stopping her before she smashed out the window. "It's just an expression saying that it is raining really hard!"

"Oh. My apologies." Starfire said as she relaxed. "Your Earth ways are confusing to me."

"I know what you mean." I said, a wry smile upon my face as we walked down the hallway. "I live here, and I still don't understand some of the things people say."

We laughed…until a pink balloon hit Starfire in the face.

Mikumo Raki hummed as he walked across the bridge with no name. His brother wouldn't have approved of his late-night walks, but then again, there were many things that he didn't approve of. Of course, there were good reasons behind his brother's 'rules', but that didn't mean that Mikumo liked any of the rules that Shiga had laid out.

"Honestly." Mikumo huffed. "I'm not some fragile kid! I'm sixteen! I understand that he's worried that I might get in another accident, but it's like he thinks that a paper cut could kill me!"

The green-haired teen was ripped from his thoughts as a bolt of lightning struck the bridge. All traffic stopped, as two figures emerged from the smoke. Both wore armor similar to a samurai's, but both lacked the upper body protection, save for the helmets that sat upon both of the figure's heads.

The blue-clad figure spoke first. "May we have fun here, brother?"

The yellow-clad one laughed. "Of course! We are Thunder and Lightning! We may do as we please!" The yellow-clad brother threw a bolt of what must have been his namesake at the cables, causing sparks to fall onto the bridge. At this point, most of the civilians began to panic, fleeing the scene. The rest either stood still in fear, or—like Mikumo—stared at the scene in awe.

"Look brother!" Lightning cheered. "I command the sparks to dance!"

"Amusing." The larger figure—who must have been Thunder—replied. "Now listen as I make music!" Thunder slammed his hands together into a mighty clap, causing a shockwave as a few cables shook loose.

Lightning then turned his attention towards a nearby semi and scarred the truck with a burst of his powers. "Let all those pass this way know: Lightning was here!"

"And Thunder too!" Thunder cried, slamming his fists together.

At this point, two things happened at once: The Titans arrived, and several cars were sent skidding back from the force of the shockwave. Mikumo's eyes went wide as one of the cars slid towards one of the few civilians who remained and stretched out his hands in a futile attempt to save the man and the child he was carrying. Then, a tendril of black energy emerged from Mikumo's wrist, grabbed the man, and pulled both him and the baby out of harm's way.

The boy's heart began to race as the tendrils retracted back into his wrist. He had been a fan of superheroes for as long as he could remember—which wasn't very long—and had been ecstatic when Shiga told him that Jump would be getting its own team of heroic teenagers. For so long he had admired them, wanted to be like them, wanted to BE them.

And now…he had his chance.

Mikumo smiled, even as the fighting ebbed and flowed, and eventually ceased.

After the fight on the bridge, Robin ordered us to search the city for the elemental teens. In order to do this, we split up into several teams. Cyborg went west, Raven and I went east, and Beast Boy and Starfire—who was rather upset at the whole oil-balloon incident—took to the skies. Currently, we were scouring a few blocks while I quietly sang some of the lyrics of Innocence by Disturbed.

"Nice voice." Raven drawled as we passed another building.

"Oh, sorry. I'll keep it down." I said, face flushed with embarrassment.

"No, no, keep singing! I was complimenting you." She said, eyebrows raised.

"Ah, sorry. I'm not used to—!"

"RAVEN! BLITZKRIEG!"

Our conversation stopped as we turned towards the source of the shouting. Shiga Raki ran towards us, clearly distressed.

"The more we run into this guy, the less and less at ease I feel around him." Light commented.

"What seems to be the problem, Mr. Raki?" I asked, choosing to ignore light for now.

The tall, white-haired young man stopped in front of us, and hunched over. He let out a few harsh breaths as he began to speak. "My brother…he was at…the bridge that you just…fought those elementals at…did you…"

Raven raised a hand, interrupting him. "We saw him. He was uninjured and said that he was going home."

"I didn't notice her talking to any green-haired teen." I thought, brows furrowing.

"You were a bit busy recovering from having redirected that lightning blast, which I told you not to do!" Logic scolded.

"Thanks Logic."

"…why do I even bother…"

Elsewhere

Slade watched as the two elementals fired blasts at the specifically placed straw dummies. It was unlikely that this plan would succeed…but that didn't matter. What did matter is that the giant would draw the Titans here, which in turn would draw his two candidates here.

Slade allowed himself to smirk as the two finished, demanding more targets to destroy. This was perhaps why he hated metahumans. So willing to believe that they were above everyone else, so above the responsibilities that all humans had. It was why he respected Seventh, because in spite of his destructive capabilities, he understood that power came with the responsibility to uplift mankind. And yet despite the presence of the League, the Titans, and other hero teams…no one was being responsible!

So Slade Wilson would make them take responsibility, in a new world crafted in his image…no matter how much time it took. He could always make another him, after all…

The masked man grinned as the Titans finally arrived in their full glory, attempting to engage the monster that the other two had helped him create. All of their efforts either only slowed the creature down…or simply made it stronger.

The former mercenary's eyes narrowed as one of the Titans split off from the rest.

He supposed it was time to meet his future apprentice.

"DAMNIT!" I screamed, slamming my fist into a nearby tree. "Why am I so weak! So…helpless." I collapsed to a knee as the forest burned and the Titans battled the fire giant. Then, I became aware of the sound of boots hitting dirt.

"If it is strength you seek, young man…" A sinister yet suave voice echoed throughout the gathering of life-giving plants. "I can grant it to you." A man with flowing grey hair stepped out of the shadows, clothed in a red kimono, and wearing a straw hat. "But know this: despite whatever power you gain, once your friends know the truth of your origins, they will never trust you again."

I grit my teeth. "You…you made that thing. Who are you?!"

"You already know who I am…Sean Wilson." The man spoke, a smirk upon his face.

"…Slade." I said, as the sky cracked with thunder and the rain began to fall.

"Indeed." The man replied.

I got into a battle-ready stance and drew my quarterstaff. "Give me one good reason…"

The older man scoffed. "Please, young man. We both know that your powers will only harm you in this weather. Besides, I am only here to talk."

"About what?" I snarled.

"My offer." The man replied. "The one Seventh and Zero extended to you."

Instead of talking, I lashed out with the staff and charged. Slade dodged with the ease of a dancer, then kicked me so hard I flew into a nearby tree. I let out a sputtering cough and tried to stand back up, only for the man to grab me by the throat and choke-slam me back into the tree. In my desperation, I let out a burst of electricity, hoping to fry my opponent. However, Slade leapt back in time, and I felt a burning pain echo through my nervous system.

As my consciousness faded, I heard the older man sigh. "Damnit boy. Fine, I'll give you a bit more time before I tell you the truth."

I awoke what must have been hours later in the medical bay, the Titans surrounding my bed.

"Did we—!"

Robin interrupted me with a raised hand. "It's been handled. Thunder and Lightning won't trouble any more innocents. They gave their word."

Cyborg leaned back in a chair he was sitting in. "Besides, we aren't here to talk about that." He said, concern covering his tone.

I felt shame as I noticed that my arms were uncovered, displaying several burns. Robin slouched forward. "Anything you'd like to tell us?"

I sighed. "Second degree burns. These are what happen when I overuse my powers. I've been trying to find a way around it, but…" I trailed off, not knowing what else to say.

"Dude, what the hell!" Beast Boy shouted. "We're a team! You're supposed to be able to trust us with this kind of stuff!"

"Indeed." Starfire said. "You should not hide the fact that you are hurt!"

"They are right." Cyborg said as he turned towards the door. "I'll start making some heat-reducing gloves for you."

Robin smiled as the larger teen left. "Remember Blitz, we are here for you, when you need it."

"…Thank you."

Ashley sighed as she walked down the corridors to the briefing room, where she would meet her new teammates. Archangel she already knew. He was perhaps one of the only true friends that she ever had, especially after…the incident. And while he pretended to be some big badass, deep down he was just as much of a wreak as she was, just with a different brand of problems. The issue would be this new unknown, the Church Hunter.

However, that changed when she saw who the Hunter was. Her eyes went wide as the Hunter's lazy storm cloud eyes met her own, and her breath began to quicken, not from excitement, but from fear.

She had known Jacob Winters only for the two years she had dated Sean—before Eric's suicide and the subsequent incident that saw the collapse of their relationship—and what she knew unsettled her. Unlike most, she had witnessed the incident that made Jacob infamous amongst her fellow peers and saw the truth. He did not simply break the star quarterback's wrist. He broke the whole damn arm. And he enjoyed it.

Perhaps that was why Eric drifted away from the obviously disturbed boy. Perhaps that was why he seemed to favor Sean over the blond boy that he had known since the tender age of four. Perhaps that was why Jacob didn't even get mentioned in Eric's suicide note.

Jacob smiled a predator's grin as he began to speak. "Ashley Creedence. Long time, no see, amiright?"

Ashley swallowed back her fear. "What are you doing here, Jacob." She demanded, trying to keep the residual nervousness out of her voice.

"What are you?" Jacob asked back. "Not sucking off any of the guys here, or gaining favors? That seems to be all you're good for, old 'friend'." His smile became vicious. "That and making a certain bitch-boy suffer—!"

Ashley leapt across the room in an instant, intent on sinking one of her hidden knives in the bastard's cold, dead heart. She had nearly reached him when he lashed out with his right arm and grabbed her face, throwing her to the ground. The agent of Canon gasped for breath as Jacob positioned his boot right on her throat.

"Oh? Do you still care for the poor bastard? Even after all of the harm you wrought, and all of the insults and indignities that you've suffered because of him. Even after all of your 'friends' left you even after you 'showed him his place'? How very sickening." The Hunter mocked.

"Why…" She gasped out. "Why…do you…care…now? You…haven't before."

"I don't." He replied. "I just hate manipulative backstabbers like you more."

Ashley struggled against the boot as her vision began to fade…

"Enough!" The strong voice of Councilman Eight echoed throughout the small room, and Jacob retreated.

"Know that I will not tolerate attacking teammates outside of training, Jacob Winters." Eight growled. "If you do this again, I will pull you from this mission. And then…you will have lost your chance."

Jacob flinched, and then sat down in one of the chairs. "Of course…Boss."

Ashley sat down as well, but she didn't pay much heed to the briefing, or to Archangel's late arrival. She was lost in a distant memory that spawned during better days.

Days where a boy with fiery red hair and an even brighter personality was still alive.
