Chapter 7
Allies from Taverns May Disappoint
When searching for new party members in online games, the first thing to do is to ask them politely if they wish to join you, but sometimes they might be a bit overzealous of themselves. Today, Reuben and the Bikini Warriors were in a tavern looking at a post of a man who was quite strong.
"World's greatest swordsman, inexperienced in battle, but kinda knows the next door neighbor of the cousin of a friend who defeated the Demon Lord 70 years ago," Fighter said, reading the notice on the board.
"So much for recruiting another member of the party. For someone who's all talk, this guy's sure full of himself," scoffed Dark Elf.
"What makes you say that, Dark Elf?" asked Reuben, who was enjoying a fresh ale.
"Hold on, Reuben. I think it's best if we tell you what happened when we first met Dark Elf," said Paladin.
Reuben nodded, then the five of them sat down at table, after Fighter brought them some drinks.
"When the three of us met Dark Elf, none of us had ever seen her. But, she was a bit harsh and overzealous in her abilities, however, we saw that she was quite strong and adept at swordplay as well as magic. Yet, at the same time, we learned the elves can live longer than any human could ever possibly imagine, as well as possess a lot of knowledge, granted she was a bit of a bragger at times," explained Mage.
"That's right, so we decided that it would be best if we asked her politely enough to help us out on our quest, which was before we even met you. Sometimes she'd tell us that the great spirits of the wind would guide her on the right path, but at the same time, I was starting to get irritated by her. At least until we came across some nasty monsters that she was able to defeat, despite the minor setbacks we had to endure," said Fighter.
"When we got to some ruins, the place was saturated with a strong magic that both Dark Elf and Mage sensed, and it was pretty intense, until we learned that there was a gate to the Demon World. But when she pressed the stone, we were suddenly transported to the big bad himself, the Demon Lord, Deathgel. None of us had been prepared, so we pretty much had no choice but to retreat back to the mortal world, before things got out of hand," finished Paladin.
"Yeesh, talk about a tough crowd. But still, even after all that, Dark Elf had to admit that you needed to train and get stronger. But then, when you found me, I was in my regular clothes. Until I got some brand new gear and this awesome sword made of fine silver, which is pretty powerful against the undead, as well as any dark creature that could cause us trouble. But I promise you guys this, I'll help you take out this ugly bastard, Deathgel, and then we'll all find a place to live together," said Reuben.
"Reuben, your idea does seem crazy, but, unlike the other men we've met, we're actually proud to stand by your side, no matter what. However, thanks to your kindness and support, we know that you truly are a great man among men, who'll fight for what he loves and cherishes with all his heart. But even if our children do turn out to be half-human, half-elf, I'm sure you'd be a great father to them," smiled Dark Elf, who kissed him.
Fighter, Paladin, and Mage nodded in agreement, since they had a deep respect for both each other, and for Reuben. Despite that fact, Reuben and the Bikini Warriors decided it was time to raid another group of bandits, and recover some good cash for them to spend a night together in the same room. When the other Bikini Warriors were fast asleep, Fighter slowly steed up to Reuben's bed, removed her armor, and clambered into bed. Carefully pulling the covers over them, Fighter gently wrapped her arms around Reuben, and kissed him. After that, she fell fast asleep in his warm but gentle embrace, ready for whatever tomorrow would bring them in their adventures.
