Walking back over the gangway Kate took a deep breath she felt a tad more relaxed and refreshed after the few hours on shore. Despite the fact they only had 4 hours actually on shore she still felt better than she did when she had left. Walking up on to the bridge she knocked on the door just to make sure no one was behind it

"X feeling a little more relaxed after your time ashore?" Mike smiled

"Yes, much thank you." she forced a polite smile "the boys have finished making repairs to the engine and they are ready to go" she smiled

"that's good news, even if it does cost me a couple of slabs"

she smiled turning away slightly as he asked if all the crew were on board, before he asked her to bring notice for sea forward to 20 minuets so they could get after the mother ship. Stepping forward as he moved to walk across the bridge, they ended up doing an awkward dance around each other.

They came up on the mother ship the following morning and thankfully she was still on their side of the line. As they put their plan in to action to take her by surprise a small RHIB approached the mother ship throwing something over the back. it was a group of eco militants claiming to be saving the seas although they had sunk ships in the past which could have quite easily caused environmental hazards especially with the methods they used

The crew of the FFV retaliated by shooting the 2 people in the RHIB causing them to fall in the ocean. It was a kick in the teeth as by the time they had done their duty and rescued the militants the FFV would be back across the invisible line and out of their reach.

Picking up the militants from the water, one had been shot in his shoulder, it was bad but could be managed until they got home, the other guy was suffering from a serious attitude.

The FFV didn't manage to get far and was stopped on their side of the line which meant they could take her. heading over they managed to get the crew under control with ease, they were all fairly cooperative. That was until Kate mentioned that the boat would be sunk as it was unseaworthy. He completely lost it and grabbed a machete holding it to his throat.

Thankfully they managed to get the situation back under control thanks to the RO who managed to talk the man off the ledge by asking if he wanted to see his children again. Something She had failed to realise he had.

Things then went from bad to worse in a very short space of time. As in accordance to quarantine and immigration rules the crew had to remain on the boat deck. Unfortunately for them all the eco militant decided to walk out on deck causing the master of the mother ship to launch for him. In the crossfire Kate was elbowed in the face leaving a lovely black shiny bruise around her eye.

Sitting in her cabin later that afternoon Kate was looking over the civvies she had packed for shore leave if they docked anywhere. Mike had planned a sort of undercover operation to catch the rest of the militants but because they couldn't board the main boat due to maritime laws and them being a Australian flagged vassal they had to let the militants come to them meaning they were posing as fishermen on the FFV.

Looking in the mirror she sighed looking at the bruise under her eye, wondering how much concealer and foundation it would take to mask the bruise and whether she could actually get away with it. Turning her attention back to the task in hand she was trying to find something suitable for Mikes undercover operation but she was struggling to find anything that would pass as she worked on the fishing boat

Hearing a knock at her door she sighed softly grabbing her clothes shoving them under the covers of her rack

"yeah" she called turning

"X" Mike smiled as he walked in "i wasn't sure if you had anything suitable to pass as a fisherman so I thought you could borrow this" he smiled holding out a neatly folded shirt.

"sir" she looked up at him as she took it allowing it to unfold in her hand, she recognised it instantly and it still looked as good as it did 5 years ago when he wore it.

"that's quite the shiner you have" Mike smiled stepping forward

"its not as bad as it looks" she forced a smile

Placing his hand on her cheek he brushed his thumb along the edge of where the bruise fell

She flinched slightly at his touch looking away trying to avoid his gaze "i best finish getting sorted" she said "if we want to get these guys"

"yeah" he said pulling his hand away quickly. "that's my favourite fishing shirt so please look after it" he said "see you on the bridge in 10"

"sir" she smiled

They managed to Complete the task with relative ease and before the FFV went to the bottom of the deep. Pulling of the sweater Mike had lent her she carefully folded it to put back in his cabin later. It was a relative strait forward and calm ride back to base.

Heading over the gangway with the crew Kate smiled as Mike walked towards them, she could see from his face that he had just had a rollocking from Marshall for the stunt they performed but at the end of the day these Militants were a danger to the seas themselves.

"X how's the eye" he called as she walked up the quay

Turning to face him "oh it hurt a lot when it happened but now, I don't feel a thing" she said

Before walking up the quay. It was true her eye had stopped hurting, unless she brushed her fingers across when she was sorting her hair out but her heart was still hurting having to see him every day and wearing his shirt this afternoon had only made it hurt more a reminder of the past and a time when they were happy.
