Hey y'all, once again, sorry it took 2 years to come out with this chapter, but typing with one arm does that to ya XD. Anyway, with all that mess going on, I've learned a lot about writing, but as everything comes with a price, I pretty much forgot my storyline for The Betrayed. And the cherry on top? I lost my email, along with all of my draft chapters. So, I'm going to be kinda winging it for a few chapters as I get back into the swing of it. Another note, I don't know what the hell i was thinking when I made the portal and the random world with the fight. I think I read something about it in a different fic and decided to put it on my own, but ew I don't like that. Anyway I'm gonna rush this fight, and start working on the storyline again. Oh and another thing! Looking back, I made Percy really really weird. He acted scared of Artemis when I'm pretty sure he'd be much more pissed. Character attitudes WILL CHANGE.
P.S. I write in 3rd person now, so that's a change.
P.P.S. After 2 years I've gotten a bit cruder. So cursing may be more prominent
When the smoke cleared, Percy was standing victoriously over the unconscious body of the mysterious "Abyss." However, the victory did not come without a price. The armor covering his body couldn't take the stress and shattered violently, flinging shards of metal in every direction. Percy groaned and fell to his knees, the fatigue of the battle overtaking him. Looking up, black spots swam into his vision, almost covering the being of light moving closer.
"Who- who are you?" The words had barely passed his lips before he felt himself moving through the air.
"You fought well. Return home, hero, and rest"
Percy was thrown unceremoniously through a rip in reality that led back to his own world. He barely even had time to process what had happened before unconsciousness overtook him, the combined wounds, fatigue, and shock finally getting to him.
Zeus slammed his fist onto the arm of his throne. "FUCK! He got away. Poseidon do you know what this means?"
Poseidon began to speak only to be cut off by Ares "He's a traitor! The only way he could have avoided getting thrown into Tartarus is if he had someone helping him behind the scenes!"
"You are all idiots. Did everything I told you when he died go out the goddamn window?!" Apollo was pissed off. He considered Percy to be a friend after everything he had done for them, but now the rest of the gods were considering that he might be a traitor, even after he selflessly fought for them for over five hundred years! "Percy's fatal flaw is LOYALTY! You seriously think he would just up and betray us? Oh Tartarus, at this point I wouldn't even blame him with the way you treat him. You have always pushed him around, belittled him, order him to carry out these meaningless tasks just because you're lazy, and what does he get as a reward? Oh joy! The ability to live forever pretty much as the gods' SLAVE? Not to mention that throughout all these years, that boy has not let ONE. FUCKING. COMPLAINT come out of his mouth. Every single one of you, barring 3, are the most hypocritical bastards I've ever met. Do you know what the worst part is? I actually thought that a few of you would change." Fuming, Apollo stormed out of the throne room, slamming the door hard enough to crack the walls on the way out.
Hestia sighed. "He's right you know. We've treated him like garbage, and now we need to fix it before it becomes an even bigger problem. I'm going after Apollo so he doesn't do anything stupid."
Artemis stood up "He's my brother, I'll go-" "NO." In a rare show of anger Hestia whirled around. "I-I mean don't go after him, it'll only make things worse. Trust me."
Eyes tracking Hestia as she left, Artemis sighed before finally sitting down again. After a brief moment of respite, Zeus spoke up again. "Does anyone else agree with this… silly notion?"
Both Hephaestus and Aphrodite raised their hands, briefly glancing at each other in surprise.
"Then you two will leave as well"
Flinching at the furious tone of Zeus, the two deities quietly left the throne room, leaving 4 empty spaces.
"We can deal with the dissenters later. Now, back to the matter at hand. How will we punish the traitor?"
Shockingly to everyone present, Poseidon was the first to pitch an idea. "As much as I hate to admit it, Percy is most likely a traitor; and I do not accept traitors in this family. Therefore, I revoke Perseus Jackson as my flesh and blood. As for punishment, we could revoke his partial immortality, then place the curse of Delos upon him. That way he would never be able to settle down, forced instead to live as a nomad."
Zeus nodded "I can agree with that, however, I have a second proposition. The boy must still be monitored, for if he wants to defect, it will be much easier without a guard. Therefore, I propose that Perseus will be placed in the care of Artemis and the hunters. As a slave. That way we can keep an eye on him while also sufficiently punishing him."
Artemis flew up in a rage. "Absolutely not! I don't care how respectable the male is, er- was, he will not be allowed to join the Hunters! Especially not after what happened with Orion!"
Zeus exhaled tiredly. "I understand this, but we NEED to keep an eye on him. Please? The second he does ANYTHING out of line you have my permission to kill him."
Poseidon looked uneasy at the mention of killing Percy, but wisely, didn't speak up.
Artemis raged on "I already said no! No matter what, I will never allow a male to join the Hunters! Not only is he, well, MALE, but the Hunters would kill him within a day! They have no tolerance for men."
Sighing heavily, Zeus kept pushing. "If you take him, you can use him as you please as long as you don't kill him or release him. In addition, I'll let you have any three things from me. I know it goes against everything you stand for, but if the boy does turn out to be a traitor, he may very well be our only link to the enemy, whether it will let us contact them or not, I don't know, but it can't hurt to try."
Artemis groaned in frustration. "Fine. But first, I want a team of hunting falcons, with accomodations and equipment, bigger tents for everyone, and a special set of low quality things for the man."
Zeus agreed without any hesitation. "Now, we just need to FIND the boy."
Artemis stood up quickly, eager to leave already. "Just leave that part to me."
With those words, Artemis dashed out of the throne room, already plotting how she could make the boy's life miserable. Meanwhile, the other gods in the throne room finally began to speak again.
"So, can we go?"
"Ares, just leave."
Percy woke with a start, then proceeded to fall out of the bed he was in.
'Whoa what the fuck? I thought I passed out in… uh… I can't remember? That's never a good sign.'
He glanced around the room and noticed a familiar shield up on the wall, along with a minotaur horn. His face darkened as he realized where he was.
'Great. The LAST place I want to be right now. What time is it? I've got to get out of here.'
Moving frantically, Percy gathered up his things and made for the door. Hand on the handle, he hesitated momentarily before going back to grab the shield and horn. Once he had placed the horn in his bag and the shield on his arm (after putting into watch form) he turned around, only to be greeted by the sight of his brother, Brayden.
Percy growled in anger. "Get the fuck out of my way."
Brayden simply gaped at him in return. "You-you're dead! You can't be here! That's not right!"
"So what if I'm dead? I'll take you with me if you don't move out of my way right fucking now."
Unused to being threatened, Brayden whimpered, and proceeded to turn and run. "CHIRON! PERCY IS A GHOST AND HE'S IN MY CABIN!"
'Well, there goes my chance of getting out of here unnoticed.'
There was a distant grumble as Brayden woke hundreds of campers, all of whom had heard the tales of the "Traitorous Percy" who had destroyed part of the camp in a fit of rage, then proceeded to run off and die. Needless to say, they all wanted a piece of him, even the older campers who remembered him from their years together.
Percy stepped outside into the light, only to be met by the sight of angry campers wielding weapons.
"You bastard! How are you here? Some evil magic?!"
"Get out! Don't make us kill you!"
"Speak for yourself, let's kill him anyways!"
The noise was overwhelming Percy. Seeing all of his friends turn against him, people he had lived with, eaten with, hell, FOUGHT WITH! Eventually it became too much to take, and he snapped, activating his abilities, but something was off.
"SHUT UP!"
The entire camp was silenced. Percy was livid, eyes alight with greek fire and hellflame.
"You all have some gods damned nerve don't you. Everyone here, especially those that knew me, what is my fatal flaw?"
Noone spoke a word, shivering in fear of the fire-lit spectre in front of them.
"Well? It wasn't a rhetorical question!"
Finally, one of the Stolls spoke up from the back. "Loyalty."
"Ding ding ding, you got it in one! My fatal flaw is LOYALTY. Do you all REALLY think that I would have ruined our friendships over trivial things?! I destroyed the camp accidentally because Brayden, my asshole brother, was making out with my cheating girlfriend on the day I planned to ask her to MARRY ME! SO YEAH, I AM A LITTLE PISSED. BUT THAT'S OKAY! I'M DONE WITH THIS SHITTY CAMP AND ALL OF YOU SHITTY PEOPLE. I WOULD SAY HAVE A NICE LIFE, BUT I DOUBT I'D GET THE SAME COURTESY!"
Percy began to walk off past the border of the camp, stopping only to turn around and flip the campers off.
"Fuck you guys!"
'Why didn't it work? Where's my connection to the water?'
Percy was sitting by the ocean, slowly coming to the realization that his father had well and truly abandoned him. He can't say he was surprised, his father had never really cared for his children, no matter how much of a facade he put up. Percy could still feel the pull of the ocean, and he could control it, but it took significant effort, and he could no longer breathe underwater or be healed by it.
With a *whumph*, he fell backwards onto the sand, splayed out as he looked at the stars. He was beginning to regret making Adam protect the camp, as he felt lonely and lost. He knew that he was brought back for a reason, but he couldn't figure out what. Percy pulled a pen out of his pocket and began to fiddle with it, before finally taking off the cap. In front of his eyes the pen transformed into a beautiful double edged xiphos. He ran his finger along the inscriptions of the pommel, wondering what all his efforts were for. He didn't have to wait long to receive an answer however, as in the distance he could hear wolves howling. And they were getting closer.
Percy quickly jumped to his feet and listened. He could barely make out the noise over the baying wolves, but he heard it. The shouts of Hunters.
'Shit. Zeus must be looking for me. I bet he thinks that some evil creature was able to help me escape.'
Quickly nabbing what he had, Percy dashed towards the forest on the outskirts of the city, hoping to hide there. He had not gone very far in, still able to see the city through the trees, but the Hunters were still on his tail.
More than a little ticked off, he began to run faster, dashing through the trees in the moonlight, leaving trails of broken branches and trampled ground, not long after, the Hunters followed, adding more to the trail of destruction. Percy leaped into the air, jumping over roots and stones, but failed to notice the snare nestled between obstacles. He stepped into it, and was yanked into the air as the rope tightened around his foot, immobilizing him.
Angrily struggling, Percy tried to cut the rope to no avail, only to be interrupted by a new person.
"Looks like a caught a no-good bastard in my trap huh girls?" Artemis's voice was dripping with disgust.
Percy smirked; it must be almost physically painful for them to catch a man in one of their traps. "Hey, kid. Can you let me down? After all, I'm sure you wouldn't want to get your ass beat while I have my hands tied behind my back. That would be kind of embarrassing."
*SLAP!*
Percy hung there in shock. One of the Hunters had just slapped him! When he wiggled around to give them a piece of his mind, he grew livid. "Elena. Of course it would be you that would do that. Was abandoning me not enough for you? Or do you just have some sick instinct that makes you want to cause pain and despair to your family members?"
With every word his skin grew redder, and the air around him began to shimmer.
"I thought that the night I found you would be the best night of my life, as I had a family again. Boy was I wrong. Not only did you abandon me, you left me for the one who killed our parents?! I don't know what is wrong with you but I guess I should be glad you left. I can't imagine what it would have been like to live with you for 500 years."
One of the hunters interjected angrily. "Hey! You can't talk like that about E-" "Shut the fuck up. Was I talking to you? No." Percy whipped his head around to look at the girl who interrupted, a cold green fire blazing in his eyes. The ropes that bound him were disintegrated, and he landed with a graceful flip.
He turned back to Elena and began to walk closer, every step incinerating the grass underneath him. "You just had to go and join them didn't you. Everything could have been better, but you went and joined these fuckers! You know where that left me?! I was a slave to the gods for 500 years, doing their bidding at every beck and call. I even fought in 4 of their wars. How did they repay me? By calling me a traitor and casting me out!"
Artemis couldn't take it anymore. "You will silence yourself! I do not care if you were once a respectable human! You are now nothing but a bug. One that I have the unfortunate task of watching. You are going to join the Hunters. As a slave."
"And what if I say no, Arte-bitch?"
"Then I will break your legs and feed you to the wolves."
Percy knew he would regret saying what he did next, but he said it anyway. "Sounds kinky, what time?"
Artemis pulled out her bow immediately and nocked three arrows before anyone could blink. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you right now, male."
Percy began to chuckle. It started off as a small snicker and quickly grew into a gigantic belly laugh that carried throughout the forest. "Because you can't."
Prickling with rage, Artemis growled "What do you mean, "I can't"? Are you insinuating I'm weak?!'
"Oh noooo I'm not doing that at allll….. But in all seriousness. I've died 3 times. Each time I get shoved through the portal of rebirth I come back the way I died. I'm fucking cursed."
"So you can't die huh? Interesting... Sounds like an evil magic to me. GIRLS! Tie him up. Use the chains so he can't escape! We're taking our new tool back to camp."
There were rounds of protests from the assembled hunters, none of whom wanted a man to be living with them, yet they did what Artemis said. Percy, having run out of anger and steam, didn't even resist as they tied him up uncomfortably tight and began to drag him across the ground back to their camp, taking extra care to hit every stone they could.
