Chapter 8:
Hiccup was walking around. If he looses he might not be able to prevent Grimmel from destroying the country. The closing argument is next month! He has to work on something fast.
But then Astrid called him. He answered the phone. She was crying. "You okay?" he asked. Astrid answered. "Can we talk, in person?" she asked. Hiccup sighed. "Sure.".
They met up at a local café. The suits were crawling. As Astrid arrived a team of reporters were swarming around the place. She sat down opposite from him. Hiccup was now a little nervous. "So, you wanted to talk?". Astrid nodded. "Eret dumped me. Sense he supports Grimmel.". Hiccup shook his head. "Why do you tell me this?" he asked. Astrid then gave a weak laugh. "I support you.". Hiccup nodded at that. "Thanks. But, why meet up?". Astrid then pulled out a picture. It was Hiccup and Astrid when they were in Elementary School. Back then those two were close. Astrid sighed. "I was wondering if we can be friends again.". Hiccup smiled at her. "I'd like that.".
For the next few days Hiccup and Astrid hanged out a lot. The press got the weirdest ideas, like Hiccup and Astrid are dating. Hiccup did his best to ignore it but it changed when he was invited to an interview by Viking News.
He sat there and the journalist asked away. "Mister President, as you know, the country is curious to know of the new woman in your life. Any comment?". Hiccup gave a laugh. "Sorry, she is just an old friend.". Astrid was watching from the group of spectators. She felt down but he was telling the truth.
The journalist then asked another question. "What promises do you promise to the people?". Hiccup crossed his arms. "Easy. I keep up the good work. My goal is to unite the people of the country.". The journalist then asked. "As you know, illegal immigrants are a huge problem to the people, how do you plan on preventing any other illegal crossing?". Hiccup then fired away. "I plan on doubling the security at the southern border. And I plan on building a wall instead of using barbwire fences. And I plan on placing military personnel on the border. Mark my words.". The journalist then gulped. "Do you plan on disbanding any rival parties?". Hiccup just rolled his eyes. "No. No I don't. If I do, then I am just as bad as Grimmel. In fact, I plan on making Grisly apart of the parliament after the election. So that he will still remain in office in a way.". Some of the spectators started cheering.
After the interview, Hiccup was escorted to his limo, but out of the blue came a bullet shot and it pierced through his shoulder. He fell to the ground. No the security were on high alert. Ryker and Viggo stood at each of Hiccup's side. Hiccup held his hand out. "Give me a gun.". Viggo nodded and pulled a pistol from his boot. Hiccup took it and eyed the bushes. He then looked at Ryker. "Two guys on the left. Possibly Outcasts.". Ryker nodded. "This is Dragon 2!" he shouted in his radio. Hiccup sighed. "Screw this.". He jumped out of cover and fired a few shot. Both shooters went down, shot in the knees. The crowd cheered.
Military quarantined the building. Hiccup had his wounds patched up. Viggo and Ryker then came to him. "You alright sir?" they asked. Hiccup smiled. "Make sure all the security personnel here gets a medal. I'll award them myself.
