Ooc: Get ready fir an insane chapter
"Oh fuck", were the only words that had escaped Ava's mouth. Her fists were clenched as she looked across at the group that had entered. The first years, looked over at her in utter confusion. Ava's gaze did not change as she would explain who these people were that had just entered the bar, "these people are called The Righteous. They believe in conspiracy theories about the Institute. They are extremely vicious glorified terrorists. They've been known to attack students from the Institute and steal their Pokémon. They've never caught a single Pokémon by themselves. What these losers are doing in Zlato, I don't know, but it's not good." Ava's head was starting to ache, but this time she didn't mind it. She could sense that the Infernape and Rhyperior that stood before them were in pain from being manipulated by The Righteous. Ava would try to help them. Her eyes flashed white for a moment as did Grace's. This would be a great battle.
Of course The Righteous just seemed amused by Ava's description of the group. The red head female stared at Ava with a large smile on her face though her voice conveyed danger, "oh you stupid little girl. How they have manipulated you. I remember when I first started at the Institute too. I thought it was the perfect place. But then I smartened up. The Institute is filled with lies and manipulations. You need to wise up and realize that the whole thing is a lie. You call us terrorists yet you attend a school founded by the biggest terrorists in Avantura. We just help people amd Pokémon realize the error of their ways. But we are not here to bother with you.", the red heads red eyes fell upon Dexter. The former champion had crossed his arms and just tilted his eyes. "Dexter Monet, we The Righteous, would like to extend you an invitation to join The Righteous. We will need you to answer immediately.", Ava and the first years all stared at Dexter. They knew he hated the Institute, but would he join this terrible organization.
Dexter just smirked as he looked at Klaus. The Kommo-o nodded as did Dexter. "Well we have an answer for you.", in a flash Klaus had gotten close to the Infernape and started wailing on the creature with punches and other blows. The Infernape cried out in pain as it was sent flying into a few tales that shattered under the impact. Klaus returned to Dexter's side. "Well I needed to get a new place anyways.", Dexter said as he could see the evil look on the red heads face. She pulled out a Pokémon as did 3 of the grunts behind her. The leader of The Righteous pulled out a ball and pulled out a Gengar. The Infernape and Rhyperior took their places next to the Gengar. The three other grunts would send out a Umbreon, a camerupt, and a Flygon. The grunts all took their places behind "their" Pokémon and were prepared to do battle with the students.
Royce was the first one of the students to pull out his pokeball. A wicked smile had crossed his face and he was ready for battle, "Goo, I need you." He tossed the pokeball as everyone was temporarily blinded by the light that came out of the ball. "GOOOODRA", Goo was not an ordinary Goodra. Instead her skin was yellowish with a pinkish belly with purple spots. She wore a smile on her face which would disappear once she saw the apparent standoff between the Team Righteous Pokémon and the students Pokémon. Goo looked to Royce for some advice as he nodded to stand with Grace and Klaus. Andy would be next as he tossed out his pokeball, what emerged was his trusty Amoharos. "LightRod, I really need you to help us.", Andy pointed across the room at the group of terrible pokemon and trainers. "LightRod, you have to be ready for anything. This fight is going to be insane." LightRod nodded as she made her way to stand besides Goo. There were only two people that hadn't sent out their Pokémon.
The sight of The Righteous had sobered Nikki and JJ up very fast. If what Ava said was true, and they had no reason not to believe it, then these people needed to be put in their places. JJ, though, had some hesitation before bringing out her Pokémon. 'What if Dexter is right though. What if Uncle Davis is involved? Why would he bring me to the Institute? Is he involved? Why would he do this. Why would he be apart of this?', those thoughts circulated in her head. She was pale white as the tears continued to form in her eyes. She needed a drink or something, but now there was going to be a fight. JJ didn't know what she should do. She wanted to call the police, but that probably would not have worked. JJ didn't know what to do, she felt sick and it wasn't just because she had too much to drink. She felt a touch on her shoulder and looked to see Nikki nodding and smiling at her. "Come on JJ, we need you. Shake it off", JJ nodded at her roommate. She reached into her belt and picked out the Pokémon she trusted the most.
"Arthur, come on out.", what emerged from the pokeball was a powerful iron bird. The Skarmory looked around before letting out a call that rang out throughout the building, "SKAR!" Arthur obviously could not fly with a roof over his head plus he had not been called out of his pokeball since JJ had arrived at the Institute. He immediately hopped over to JJ and nuzzled his trainer, "skarrrrr." JJ usually would have pet and nuzzled the powerful steel flying type back, but this was not the time nor place. JJ shoved her beloved Pokémon's head away, "not now Arthur. We have to take of them." JJ shot her thumb over to where the Righteous were. Arthur hopped over to take his position. He spread his wings and again gave out a intimidating "SKAR!", and looked up and frowned. He needed room to fly. The roof would not suit him.
Nikki was the last one. She looked at her belt, the pink haired girl needed to find the right Pokémon. Then she felt her necklace glow, 'well then if you really want to.' Nikki would move the necklace more prominently on her neck so that everyone could see that it was glowing. Ava's eyes widened at the realization of what Nikki had been hiding. Even Dexter seemed to be taken aback at the sight of the mega stone. You had to be a truly special trainer to get a mega stone and now Ava had a little more understanding about why Nikki was so special. It added to the mystery surrounding the pink haired girl. "Noivernite", Nikki explained to her friends. That meant that she had a Noivern something no one had expected the pink haired, goofy girl to have. "Echo, come on out my darling", Nikki tossed her pokeball up and out came the mega evolved version of the Noivern. Echo immediately took into the air and burst through the roof. Nikki looked to Dexter to apologize, but he just shrugged.
Ava could hear all the voices in her head. The Pokémon were all angry and fuming. They were prepared to battle. When she was younger, this would have utterly overwhelmed her hearing the voices of the Pokémon. But Ava had learned to control it. The only Pokémon she was focused on was Grace. Grace was calm and focused. They had the strong connection that had made them fearsome. Ava looked around at the people that had joined her and Dexter in battle. She had expected the first years to not be willing to fight once they had heard her description of The Righteous, but instead they had decided to stay and fight. Perhaps Ava had been too harsh on the first years. She needed to open her eyes more to them, well that was if they had gotten out of this situation alive. Right now she didn't know about this. She had heard horror stories about this group and right now they were in a bad spot.
The grunts could not show emotion, but the red haired leader of the group did. She covered her face to hide her slight smirk. They had heard that a group of students from the Institute would be headed their way. That was why Marcia had her grunts following them. Of course they would go to Dexter's. When Marcia found out where the students had gone it was perfect for her to spring this little surprise. The Righteous knew that Dexter Monet had hated the Institute. They had plugged a few spies into his business and got him to admit his hatred of it. So Marcia had figured that he would be eager to join them. Afterall it was not The Righteous that was the bad guys. No it was the Institute. The organization that had brought nothing, but pain to the people of Avantura with their lies and manipulations. She, along with the others, were just trying to take the Institute down. How these children and Dexter could not see this made zero sense to her.
"So you want a Pokémon battle, huh? Fine, but you really do not understand who you are messing with.", many trainers had tried to take The Righteous out. They had all failed. In fact that was how she had gotten her gengar. Some trainer had tried to be a hero and tried to stand up to the Righteous. That had not worked out well for said trainer. Marcia had put him down quickly and taken the Gengar as a trophy. This would still be the case right now with these idiotic trainers that dared to cross her and the grunts now. Marcia nodded her head as the Pokémon and grunts fanned out across Marcia. They had lined up across their opponents. There was a tension in the air that everyone could feel. This was not going to be an ordinary battle even the first years sensed that the Righteous would not fight fair. Marcia smiled, "attack!"
All of The Righteous grunts' pokemon had sent various attacks at each and every Pokémon that the Institute trainers had sent out. All of their Pokémon were affected except for Echo and Arthur who had taken to the sky. Ava grunted as all the attack had caused her head to hurt even more thanks to her connection with Grace. This was not going to work out if they contained to fight like this. They would be playing at The Righteous' game. If the students wanted to get out of this situation they would have to divide and conquer. Ava looked over at a Dexter and the others, "we are sitting ducks. We need to split up." The others nodded in agreement. They couldn't just stand across from the group of terrorists or else they would be in deep deep trouble. Ava began to formalize a plan. They had two flying type Pokémon at their disposal that could be used to their advantage. The Flygon would be the most vulnerable to being taken out which sparked something in Ava. "Nikki, can you and your Noivern take care of the Flygon."
Nikki smiled as she understood completely what Ava was getting at. The perky pink haired female smiled as she ran across to a. Area by the dance floor away from the others. "Echo, use air slash on that Flygon!", the mega Noivern roared as she sent a powerful Air Slash attack at the dragon and ground type Pokémon. "Fly!", the Flygon had let out a painful cry as one of the grunts had let out a gruff sound in anger. This caused Nikki to smile even more as she had picked out her opponent. Nikki whistled at the grunt that clearly controlled the Flygon. "Come on big boy or big girl, I can never tell with that stupid mask on, why don't you play with me?", her voice was seductive on purpose. One of the things that turned Nikki Allaire on was a good Pokémon fight. This appeared to be a good fight and she was going to have some great fun. Nikki licked her lips and cracked her knuckles. The grunt and the flygon chased Nikki over to the dance floor area and away from the others.
Dexter realized exactly what Ava had planned. He stroked his beard and his eyes went wide with a sudden realization. "We have to get them outside," he said to Ava. They meant the Interape and another Pokémon preferably the Gengar. "Klaus, try to use close combat on the Inferape again.", the Kommo-O charged at the fire fighting type, which to Dexter's surprise, had not moved, instead it just sat there motionless as if it expected this. A powerful blast from the side had caused Klaus to skid back in pain. Dexter looked up to see Arica smiling at him. "Amateur", the leader of the grunts cockily said. Dexter though did not seemed to be upset or concerned. Instead a smile had crept onto his bearded face. She had fell into the trap that they had laid. She just hadn't realized it yet. "Gennnn...", the gengar had been hit from the front by a powerful fairy attack. Marcia searched around to see where it came from only to find Ava waving at her. Now the leader of the grunts was beyond pissed st the situation.
Ava and Dexter commanded their Pokémon to plow their way outside into the street that separated Dexter's bar from neighboring businesses. The Infernape and Gengar were in hot pursuit as were the members of the Righteous. Dexter had wanted to drag them out outside for a few reasons. The first being that he knew that the nosy neighbors would call the police when they saw the chaos. This was the one good thing when it came to the neighbors. They had called the police on him before so when they saw the utter chaos of the fight outside they would call the police again. Dexter was not stupid, he knew that the Righteous were dangerous people. So he knew that the police coming was imperative to deal with the Righteous. There was another reason why that involved the Infernape, but he would reveal that later. Right now he and Ava had to focus on beating the Righteous.
The Infernape was the first Pokémon that had reached Klaus and Grace. The Infernape was immediately hit by several rocks that dug into its skin. The fire and fighting type sneered as the rocks continued to dig into its skin. Dexter had Klaus use stealth rock in preparation for one of the Righteous Pokémon walking into the trap. Of course the Infernape was the first one. The grunt that controlled it was reckless and not very good. So Dexter had figured that would be the target first. As the Infernape had started to recover, it was blasted with a fairy wind from Grace. The connection between Grace and Ava was very strong. It went beyond battle bond into some deeper connection. Whatever it was it made Grace utterly formidable. Dexter had to admit that he was impressed by Ava's skill in controlling her connection to Grace. She had tried to explain it to him once before, but he had not seen it up close. That was until now. Dexter mentally jotted this down.
"Corrosive Gas", Marcia and her Gengar had been sitting back to watch how the grunt and the Infernape would do. They were just pawns in her bigger game. Marcia knew that the Galarian Rapidash was fairy type. The perfect target for her poison attacks from the Gengar. Purple smog like gas had poured out of the building to the outside. Sure the gas wouldn't be as effective if they had still been inside the building, but it would still have an effect. Especially since Marcia could tell that the black haired female and her Rapidash were connected. The black haired female seemed to be the smartest one out of all those stupid students that had tried to stand in defiance of the Righteous. Marcia wanted to make her suffer it would give the lieutenant some pleasure. The gas had hit the target perfectly. The Rapidash had breathed in the gas and was neighing in pain as the gas had entered her lungs. Marcia's red eyes turned to the Rapidash's trainer. She was coughing up a storm and had turned red. She was grabbing at her chest. The gas was doing what it was intended to. "What's the matter? You don't enjoy the gas? Not so mouthy now are you?", an evil smirk had crossed Marcia's face.
Ava had never felt something like this before. It felt like she couldn't catch her breath. Her lungs were burning. It felt as if they would explode. What Vaa was feeling was the same thing Grace was. The Rapidash was in so much pain. Ava could have broken the connection with Grace, but she didn't want her Rapidash to suffer alone. They had been through too much together. So Ava kept the connection with Grace if it even meant that she would suffer as well. Ava clawed at her lungs as her face had turned bright bright red as she gasped for air. Grace began to cough as did Ava, "Grace... use ...bounce.", by getting up in the air they could get away from the gas. Grace leapt up in the air as Ava took a deep breath. The fresh air giving her a momentarily reprieve from the gas that had filled her lungs. Grace then would land on top of the Gengar in a rather weak attack. The gas still around them which caused Geace and Ava to both suffer even more.
Marcia laughed at the pain that both Grace and Ava were in before turning back to the grunt, "do it", she said. The grunt nodded as his Infernape, the fire/fighting Pokémon's fist grew purple as it slammed its fist into Grace. "RAPPP", the poison attack had landed flush on the severely damaged Rapidash. If the creature wasn't poisoned already it wasn't now. All Pokémon in the Righteous had some sort of poison attack which made them nightmares for Pokémon who were fairy types. With the way the Rapidash was suffering, Marcia could tell that the plan had worked. Her eyes then became fixed on the black haired mouthy student. The girl was double over and crying out in pain. Her body shook from the poison that had clearly seeped into her body as well. This was why Marcia never used her connection with Pokémon. It was stupid and ended up like how this girl was. "Ahhhhhhhhhh", Ava called out in pain. Marcia just pushed her head back and laughed.
Dexter looked over at Ava who was in tremendous pain. The poor girl was shaking, Dexter went to help her up, but this only seemed to cause her even more pain. Dexter's blue eyes looked over at the psycho that was causing Ava pain. Dexter had heard about how brutal the Rughteous were when he was champion and now he was seeing it first hand. Now he needed to put his plan into action. "Ava, stay with me, there's a water line where they are standing", Dexter whispered. He couldn't tell if this was getting through to her as she looked to be in very bad shape, but he had to try. "If you can use a cut move to cut open that line this is going to change the tide of battle. We need to do this. Come on Ava.", the blonde just hoped it was getting through to her. Finally the heavily battered young woman nodded, she understood what to do. "Grace, use psycho cut.", it was the last thing Ava did before she blacked out.
Marcia watched as the pathetic attack went way above her head. The Rapidash and it's idiotic trainer had passed out. That attack was clearly an act of desperation. Marcia smiles, "see Dexter you should have joined us. We could have been a great team. Instead you decided to team up with that weakling.", Marcia pointed against the crumbled mess that was Ava. "You made the wrong choice and now you will suffer. Tour Kommo-O will be a very nice trophy for me.", yes she was a big admirer of that Pokémon. Marcia had expected to see Dexter begging for forgiveness, for pity. Yet he was doing nothing of the sort in fact he had a smile on his face. Marcia could not understand why. Then she felt a few drops on her shoulder. "Water where?", she looked up in horror as a rush of water covered her Gengar and the Infernape.
Dexter had played it perfectly. By getting the Righteous to come outside he had lured them into a trap. That Infernape was so vulnerable to water attacks, but Klaus didn't have any water attacks. That was when he remembered the water line that ran outside. That was why he had needed Ava to fire off that psycho cut in order to burst the line. The water now covered the Infernape and trainer is water. The Infernape was clearly suffering in the water and the two trainers were confused. Now it was time to go in for the kill. "Klaus, use clanging scales!", the Kommo-O armor started to cling together rapidly. The clanging of the armor made a loud noise as Klaus steady himself. He snarled at the Gengar and Infernape. "Kommo-O!", a wave of powerful attack headed straight towards not only the Infernape, but the two members of the Righteous as well.
The attack hit flush. This sent the infernape and Gengar flying into the Righteous trainers who would hit the wall of the bar hard. That was all Dexter would need as he did not wait to see if they were going to get up. That was not his concern right now. What was his concern was Ava. She had suffered a lot and needed to get to a hospital. The blonde man felt guilty about dragging them into this fight. They had come to just visit and drink, but they had all decided to fight with Dexter against this evil group. Besides Ava, they really didn't know Dexter, yet they had fought with him. He would be forever grateful to them. But right now he needed to help Ava. He scooped her body up, "I'm going to get you to the hospital. Thank you so much Ava." With that he took off with her to get to the hospital. Marcia, meanwhile, recovered from the blow and recalled her Gengar. She could hear sirens coming and didn't want to stick around.
Inside things were going a little bit smoother for the students. Royce, the usually quiet one, had taken charge on the plans. The grunts were not the smartest especially with no leader there to guide them. They had battled utterly chaotic fashion. There was no set strategy or method to their style. Instead they were just like chickens with their heads cut off. This had been easy for Royce to out strategized them. Royce had taken the lead since Andy and JJ both had their confidence shaken a bit. Royce didn't understand why, but since then he had been the lead. Of course inside was also battered and destroyed. The interesting bar/speakeasy resturant had nearly been destroyed. There were holes and burn marks from fire attacks. This was the most intense thing that any of the first years had experienced. "JJ, keep Arthur in the sky and keep having him drill peck that umbreon. Andy and I will take care of the other two.", Royce commanded as the other two nodded.
All the Pokémon except Arthur had been utterly battered. JJ had smartly use Arthur to lay down spikes on the floor which had slowed down the Umbreon, but it also had a toll on Goo and LightRod. The only other Pokémon not really affected was the Rhyperior, but it had been battered by Goo's water attacks. Arthur had dents in his armor from a few attacks from the Rhyperior, but was still holding on. Goo had a few Brussels on her body, but was fine. LightRod on the other hand had taken a pounding from the Camerupt and Umbreon. If anyone was going to faint it would have been her. But Andy had faith faith that she could hold on. Afterall he had come up with a plan. He nudged Royce in the side and pointed, with his eyes, at the steel spikes on the floor and how the Camerupt and Umbreon were close to them. Royce nodded and grinned, he knew what Andy wanted.
"Goo, use water pulse right in front of them.", the shiny Goodra nodded as she fired off a water pulse right at the feet of the Umbreon and Camerupt. "LightRod, Discharge now!", the gem on top of the Ampharos' head glowed as a powerful current of electricity circulated throughout her body. "Amp!", she shouted as she released a powerful electric attack. The Rhyperior was unaffected naturally by the electric attack. The same could not be said for the Umbreon and Camerupt. The water pulse with the steel spikes already on the ground had made for a great conductor of the electric attack. They were standing in water with steel around them. The Pokémon would be electrocuted severely. The creatures yelled out in pain and agony before passing out. Royce and Andy didn't want to be so brutal to the Pokémon, but they figured that the Righteous would not have stopped unless their Pokémon were damaged to this point. It made Royce sick to do it, but they had to.
"ARTHUR!", JJ shouted in horror. The Skarmory had fallen out of the air, an indirect casualty of the discharge. His wings circulated with electricity. He fell from the air and struggled into get up. Worst of all was where he had fallen was not good. He had fallen right in front of the Rhyperior. "Skar", he cried in pain as he tried to take off. The Rhyperior smirked as it got closer to the injured steel Skarmory. JJ immediately tried to go run in front of her beloved Pokémon, but was pulled back by Andy. She smacked Andy across the face, but he held onto her wrist. "J), wait just watch", as the Rhyperior was distracted by the injured Skarmory, it did not notice a water Pulse headed for it. The Rhyperior was directly hit and then again. This gave LightRod time to move in front of Arthur.
Her gem started to light up white, "Ampharos!" She released the power gem attack and it struck the Rhyperior right in the chest. The mighty Pokémon toppled over as the ground shook from the impact of the fall. The grunts did not hesitate. They took off immediately leaving their defeated Pokémon laying their injured. JJ rushed over to Arthur and patted him on his head. Tears started to form in her eyes looking at the state he was in, "you did so good Arthur. I am so proud of you." The Skarmory let out a pained noise that sounded like he was happy. Royce and Andy just looked at the scene in utter disgust. Royce, especially, "these people have no honor." Andy nodded in agreement. But the cackling from Nikki brought them all back to the realization that there was one more fight going on.
"This is fun Echo.", Nikki had a wild expression on her face. The perky pink haired girl seemed to be having fun toying with the grunt. It was like she was a predator picking at prey. The poor Flygon had been battered and beaten by Echo. The mega Noivern didn't even have a scratch on her. The Flygon could barely hang in the air. Nikki's smile on her face showed a different side to her. Nikki didn't like showing this, she preferred to be her perky self. Yet these grunts didn't deserve mercy. They needed to be taught a lesson. They were essentially Pokémon poachers who tried to justify their actions. Nikki would not let them hurt anyone else. She knew Echo felt the same way. Afterall Nikki had rescued Echo from poachers when Echo was an egg. Poachers in Kalos had killed Echo's mother and tried to steal her eggs. Nikki had coke along and saved the nest. Echo's egg was her reward. So Echo felt the same as Nikki. Nikki let out a sadistic laugh as she watched Echo toying with the Flygon.
Nikki looked at her watch and huffed, "Echo end it. Use hurricane." The mega Noivern started to pump her wings very fast. A powerful wind started to circulate into the all too funnel shape. "Noi-Vern!!", Echo called as she released the powerful attack. The Flygon was sent spiraling around and completely out of the heavily damaged building. But that was not the only thing that was stirred up. The powerful attack had stirred up the debris and other destroyed items from Dexter's former restaurant. Things were flying all about that JJ, Andy, and Royce had to take cover. The only one that had not noticed was Nikki. In fact there was some debris of rocks, stones, and other debris that had been picked up by the attack and was headed toward Nikki. That was until someone sprang into action.
"JJ!", Andy had blinked and his friend had disappeared. The tall brunette had ran to protect Nikki. Andy could just watch in horror as JJ had shoved Nikki out of the debris and taken the brunt of the blow. JJ just dropped like a ton of bricks. The sound had been sickening. Even Royce had a horrified look on his face. JJ had sacrificed herself in order to protect Nikki, Andy and Royce ran over to where she was. Her body looked utterly broken. Her clothes had been been completely tattered. The first year's stomach had turned black a clear sign that she had internal bleeding. Luckily, Royce observed some very shallow breathing, but he didn't know how long that would last. He ran outside as he heard the noise of sirens. He figured that he could flag them down to help the female.
Nikki had turned completely white. She had watched JJ, someone she just met, take the blow for her. Now JJ was convulsing in pain. Nikki's eyes watered with tears, 'this is my fault. Why did I have to use that attack, I could have stopped that. This is all my fault!' Nikki would shove Andy out of the way as she protected JJ's body. Nikki's race was crimson and the tears were like a river that came out of her. She sobbed uncontrollably, "JJ, I am sorry. I am so utterly sorry. This was my fault. My fault. Please JJ, stay with us. Please for the love of Arceus!", Nikki continued to cradle JJ as the tears fell. The sense of guilt she had was crushing her. "HELP SOMEONE PLEASE. HELLLLLP ME!", she wailed and sobbed. There was a pain in her voice and agony. She couldn't believe she had been so utterly stupid. But she wasn't the only one in utter agony.
Arthur had watched the whole thing. JJ's beloved Skarmory was horrified as he watched JJ sacrifice herself. Tears filled the Skarmory's eyes, he loved his trainer. She had raised Arthur since he had first hatched. They had so many memories together from conquering Galar to the travels with Davis. Arthur was always by JJ's side, he loved her truly. But now she... he didn't even want to think about it. It couldn't happen to JJ, not JJ of all people. Suddenly out of the corner of his eye, Arthur saw something that turned his tears of sadness to tears of rage. The flygon's grunt had tried to leave, "SKARMORY!!!" Arthur wailed loudly that shook the building. Arthur darted towards the escaping grunt and head butted the person right in the chest causing the figure to crumble.
Then Royce entered with the officers and medics. They had looked horrified at the scene before them.
Ooc: So this chapter is longer than my others. I told people that this chapter would be crazy and it was. I wanted to get it out today cause I had so many ideas so I wanted to get it out. So now we have learned about the Righteous and had some crazy battles. Of course Ava and JJ are in very bad shape and we'll see some fallout from this and the Bunny-Alex battle.
