Chandler waited for all their friends to leave before coming out of the bedroom. For some reason he felt like he would not be able to pretend like he didn't hear the discussion that just transpired.
He opened the door and put out his head first just to be sure that Monica is the only one left. Monica was fixing the table and he sneaked in from behind her for a hug, kissing her nape saying "Thank you."
For what?
For breakfast. He wanted to say for standing up for him to their friends but felt that it wasn't necessary to prolong the topic. He realized Richard is no longer relevant to him and has never been relevant in his relationship with Monica.
So, I'll be back to work next week. I still have a few days to spare. What would you say we visit my mother this weekend?
That's great! I would love to.
Really?
Yes! I'd love to see her again… So what brought that up?
Well, actually I've been thinking about letting my parents know about us and I'm just waiting for the right time. I mean, I don't want to tell them by phone, I want you to meet them in person now that, you know, you're my girlfriend and we're having a baby.
Is your dad, going to be there, too?
Oh, not really but I'm thinking we can meet with him before we go back home.
Do you think they'll like me?
Are you kidding me? You met my mom. You know she likes you.
But it was different before, you know.
Yes, it was different then but …
But what?
Well, even then she kinda knew I had a crush on you.
You did?
Well you know she has this kind of radar about romance and all. I don't know how she knew but she knew and she always thought we look good together.
Wow!
Oh, don't tell me you didn't know I liked you then.
No, I didn't.
Yes, you did!
No, I didn't!
Yes, you did! I tried telling you several times.
No, you didn't!
Yes, I did!
When?
A lot of times. Chandler suddenly feeling shy stands up, paces the floor one hand inside his pocket while another hand gestures. The last one was in Montauk when you said I wasn't boyfriend material.
Monica stands up arms stretched - I love you so much! Chandler moves closer kisses her on the lips before letting himself fall into her open arms.
At Nora Tyler Bing's Residence
Aren't we done soon? Nora asks her publicist.
What's the rush, Nora? You seem so preoccupied today!
Well, I've got an important schedule today so we better get this done soon.
Why, what's up? You meeting a new boyfriend?
No! My son is coming for a visit.
So? Why are you so fidgety.
He rarely calls me and he rarely comes for a visit and he did both so I figured this could be serious.
Could be… So, just have these documents signed and I'll be on my way.
Nora went up the stairs to check on the Chandler's room that she asked to be cleaned. She then went to the kitchen downstairs to see if the food has been prepared.
Nora heard a car pull up. She peeps through the window and saw Chandler alighting the cab. She was about to close the curtain when she noticed Chandler run to the other side of the cab. He came with someone!
Nora decided she would open the door and welcome Chandler and his companion.
Chandler was holding two duffle bags in both hands. Nora couldn't see the person walking behind him but it looked like it's a woman.
When Chandler reached the front door, he puts down the bags on one side and said - Mom, I'd like you to meet my girlfriend, Monica. Monica appears from behind Chandler smiling shyly.
Monica! Nora sounded surprised but truly happy seeing her.
Chandler noticed the question on his mother's face when she noticed Monica's pregnant tummy.Oh, and mom, this is our baby. Chandler rubbing Monica's belly.
Nora hugs Monica and and places her hand on her tummy acknowledging her coming grandchild before he reaches for Chandler for a hug.
Chandler, Monica what a surprise! So what do you kids want to do first? You want to eat then unpack later or unpack then eat later?
Oh, why don't I bring our things to the guest room and let Monica stay here for a while. Chandler looking at Monica as he voiced out his suggestion.
That would be great. But Chandler, honey, you'll both be staying in your old room. I had it cleaned and ready for today… And you, Monica, you come with me. Nora held Monica by the hand and led her to the couch.
So Monica, how far along are you with the pregnancy?
I'm in my second trimester.
Oh, I hope my Chandler is not giving you a headache. You see, I always worry that his father and I have screwed him so bad he will never get the chance to raise a family.
Oh, not at all. Chandler has been so wonderful, Mrs. Bing.
Mrs. Bing? Call me, Mom.
Mom?
Well, that's what Chandler calls me so you can call me Mom, too!
That's so sweet, Mrs- ahm, Mom.
Chandler joined them still catching his breath from running down the stairs.
Chandler's here! So let us all have a nice dinner and I'll let you two rest early.
Monica and Chandler have finished unpacking their things. Monica picked her spot on the bed and lay down. Chandler was about to join her when - Where do you think you're going?
Sleep beside you.
Aren't you supposed to take this time to go talk with your mother?
Is that necessary? I mean, we already did what we're supposed to do.
Chandler, you haven't seen your mother in a long time, don't you think you two have some catching up to do?
Chandler stopped for a while and nodded his head. Thank you, honey! He kissed Monica before going out of the room to look for his mother.
There you are! Chandler found his mother at the bar with a glass of wine and a stick of cigarette in her hand.
Chandler! Where's Monica?
Oh, she needs a rest.
Why are you still up?
Oh, I just want to… talk to you.
What about?
Well, we haven't seen each other in a long time. I'm really sorry I haven't been in touch.
Forget about it. I understand…
Awkward silence filled the air for a few long minutes.
I told you, you and Monica are meant to be together! Nora putting a glass of wine in front of Chandler and offering him a stick of cigarette.
Oh, I can't. Monica would freak. Chandler set aside the cigarette and took a sip of the wine instead.
I am so happy for you, Chandler.
You are?
Yes! I am so happy to see you this happy! And I am even happier to see how much this special girl loves you!
You see that?
Oh, you should see yourself when you look at her and you should see her when she looks at you.
I have never been so in love before. I have never loved someone like this before. Chandler confided.
So what are you waiting for?
Huh?
You know what I mean. Nora winking.
Chandler nods. Thanks, Mom.
