Chapter 8: Training & Rescuing
Shiro's POV
"Aaaaand…stop." I stopped the stopwatch on my phone just as Midoriya stopped running and nearly collapsed on the ground. He panted as he fell down to one knee as I looked at his time.
"6 minutes and 13 seconds, not bad. 3 minute break then we'll move on to burpees for 4, got it?" I asked him.
"Ye-Yes sir…" I nodded before telling him to rest on the bench where the water bottles are. I pocketed my phone before sitting on the ground and start meditating. I focused more and more on the sounds of the waves of the ocean as well as feeling the setting sun on my skin. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly, giving myself some inner peace before my mind decided to take a trip to memory lane. All of a sudden, along with the sound of the waves, I started hearing Wrath's, Ripper's and I's conversation when we first sat on the Dagobah beach.
'This feels nice.'
'Yeah.'
'The calm sounds of the waves and the feeling of the sun on us.'
'Just makes me wish even more…'
'Wish for what?'
'A peaceful life.'
'Heh, you know that won't come true.'
'Hey you never know.'
'Right, when that time comes I'll still be wreaking havoc all over the country.'
'Unfortunately.' Then laughter sounded off. Our laughter, all three of us. All of a sudden, I was shaking before my vision went back to reality and saw Midoriya in front of me with a worried look on his face.
"What is it?" I asked him.
"Y-You were crying…" I blinked before I felt another tear run down my cheek. I wiped my eyes before clearing my throat and stood up with Midoriya.
"Alright, sorry about that, time for some burpees kid, go on." I saw Midoriya head back to the spot where he nearly collapsed and started doing burpees there. I timed him yet again. Our training went from 7 in the morning to 7 in the evening, therefore, Midoriya was exhausted and I had to carry him back to my home which was an abandoned warehouse. I set him down on the tub with a shower curtain that goes all around it and told him to take a shower.
"I'll leave your clothes by the sofa, I'll be back tomorrow morning."
"What about dinner?" He asked in a tired voice.
"There's katsudon in the fridge, just microwave it."
"Mmkay." After that, I left the warehouse and shadow walked from roof to roof to roof, searching for some prey. Soon enough, I heard what seems to be kidnapping since the woman squealed and I heard the guy to tell her to get in the car about 3 blocks away. I rushed to the direction of the kidnapping, not hearing them drive off yet.
'Good, just stay there you fuckers.' I parkoured up and over the roofs of buildings before I glanced over the side and saw them still there.
"To think we wouldn't recognize you Mirko, you're gonna pay for sending our guys to jail."
"Oh don't worry, you'll be joining them soon."
*SLAP* That slap along with a slight squeak was enough to make me see red. I jumped down on the roof of the car, attracting their attention.
"What the hell is that?"
"Is that Eraser?"
"No, this isn't his territory!" I made 2 Uzis before turning around, not even bothering to be silent with my steps before aiming one uzi down where the driver's seat at and one at the passengers before unloading half a clip on where they are. I heard all of them scream before I heard both doors open and the two bastards got out, it didn't take them a millisecond to even speak before I unload the rest of the mags on them. I threw the guns at the side before getting off the roof and going to the left side of the backseat. I peaked in there and saw Mirko covering her ears and tears falling from her eyes.
"Rumi, it's me." She slowly looked at me with wide teary eyes and I just nodded her to get out of the car. I offered her my hand and said,
"Come, let's get you home." She stared at my hand before going back to me then back to the hand. She shakily reached out to me and I gently grasped her hand and helped her get out of the car. She trembled slightly before going tsundere and shoved my hand back at me.
"H-Hmmph, I d-didn't need y-your help Red." I rolled my eyes before grabbing her hand and start dragging her away from the bloody scene. Of course, she starts resisting and pulling but I just held on tighter.
"H-Hey! Let me go!" Soon enough, after I dragged her around a block, she stopped resisting half way. I let go of her hand and just went on the lookout for a cab. Just then, Mirko grabbed my shoulder and spun me around and glared.
"Listen here you cold blooded murderer-" I decided to cut her off and said,
"Don't worry, all the cameras that might've seen us are scrambled, meaning they won't see and hear nothing but pure static. Your status as one of the toughest and unbreakable heroes will remain the same and I won't tell a soul, you have my word." She stared at me wide eyed and slack jawed before I saw a cab driving down the road at the corner of my eye. I took of my mask and ski mask underneath it then turned to car and waved but not before saying to her,
"Your ride's here." All the time she stared at me even as I took my masks off, only to snap out of it when the driver pulls over. I walked over to the cab and opened the backseat door for her. She shook her head before getting in the car and I closed it. Just as I was about to leave, she grabbed the sleeve of my jacket through the window. I looked at her with a questioning gaze and she just looks down blushing slightly and muttered a 'Thank you.' I nodded to her and said,
"You're welcome." She let go off my sleeve before I went to the passenger's side window and fished out the cash for the ride. I gave it to the driver and said,
"Mirko's Agency, she lives in the same road there." The driver took the cash and nodded. I nodded back and went out of the window and as the driver starts to drive, Rumi and I stared at each other before I smiled, winked and held a finger over a smile, signifying her to keep quiet about my appearance. Just as the cab turned the corner, I fished out my masks and wore them again and disappeared back to the rooftops.
"What a day." I mumbled to myself.
