-Chapter Seven - Questions on Questions, I Need Answers, I Want Answers, More and More Until I-

-Year 383-

The sound of gas hissed above him, four thunder loud booms -of something big falling- made the old evergreen trees creak underneath it. Naruto flinched, he was terrified of the two titans eating him, alive. He was terrified of the two titans fighting (He was guessing), he has no idea if they are or not. He was terrified of the flying people, that they might find and kill him on the spot. He was terrified of dying from dehydration or starvation, that would be a slow, painful death that Naruto didn't want. Biting his lower lip trying to focus on that pain and not the pain that came from his legs, back, head, and ass. Looking up from his broken, twisted legs, -which he noticed his navy blue sandals were missing from his feet but he didn't care- Naruto tried to see the titans that were trying to eat him moments agos. But he couldn't see anything, not even the big, ugly creatures. Blinking once, Naruto finally realized that the orange glow -of the sun- that was behind the trees and shrubs was gone, leaving him in the murky, cold, quiet forest to look at the moon that was coming up from the line of land.

Before Naruto's keen -blue- eyes could adapt to not having a light source everything became darker, then lighter. Something white and warm -not as warm as his body heat but still warm- was coming from behind a tree that he was facing, the glow became brighter and larger. Until Naruto couldn't see anything except the glaring light of white that surrounded him.

Naruto's head abruptly dropped, his small body slumped over to the left, making both of his broken legs move but Naruto didn't wince or yelp in pain.

His whiskered face was puffy. Barely noticeable red lines -which he got from crying- started right under his closed eyes -which had little tears under the lashes- and down to his jaw. Thick, goopy red blood seeped down from his golden hair and over his forehead and into his small eyebrows. Slowing moving sideways into his ear due to the pose he was in. Blood leaked from the cover of his mouth. The same substance soaked into his tan t-shirt and white ripped trousers that were split in half -that Naruto wore to cover his forearms to his shoulders-. His dark tan, cargo pants were soaked with something wet, Naruto may have peed himself while one of the titans almost ate him.

Everything on Naruto's body and clothes has dirt, blood, mud, and grass stains all over them. Cuts and rips were in all of them, even Naruto's deadly pale skin. Black circles were slowly appearing below Naruto's eyes. He sat slumped, with his back barely holding onto the bloody bark of the tree. But the bark that was holding him up, broke with a small crack. He fell, completely on his left side with his left cheek pressed on the wet, chilly grass. He laid there limp, staying still just like a leaf on a boring summer day.

-Little skip - Two days later-

Naruto's ears twitched from the chirping and grunts of birds and deer. He stirred in his sleeping position, his right cheek was softy landing on something warm and squishy, but the texture of whatever his cheek was laying on was annoying the crap out of him. He laid sideways while facing right, his chest on completely on the hard, scaly thing below him. His knees and legs were straight, no matter how hard Naruto tried to move them, they wouldn't. They just stayed on their sides. Naruto's left hand was wrapped around his neck, safely and tensed but not too much to choke himself. He always did that, he feels safe when he does it though it's a weird place to put your hand. The other hand was laying against his bare chest… bare?

Squinting his eyes open, the bright colors of the forest -that seemed more dull then before- and sun hit his -precious, sensitive- blue eyes making them boil up with tears. Blinking them away he fully opened his eyes to look around him. His surroundings were different then before, speaking of which. What happened? The last thing he remembers was it was dark then really bright, blinding so. His breath caught his throat.

"Ti-titans…" Naruto mumbled out, fear written over his now pale face. The thing under him moved slightly as if it heard his words and breathing change. This made Naruto remember that he was lying on something that wasn't grass or wood, while it felt like his neck and down was laying on wood but his head and cheek didn't feel like that. Heat radiated off of the thing, warmth that Naruto wanted to snuggle into but he couldn't. He has no idea where he is or what is on.

"Oh!" A gasp yanked Naruto's attention and ears. "Your wake! I didn't expect yeh to be!" A loud voice laughed with a rich accent Naruto had never heard before, his happy laughter vibrated all throughout the man's chest, making Naruto slightly move up and down. Was he laying on this person, Naruto wasn't sure if it was a man or a woman but it sounded like a man to him. "You're one tough kid! If i do say so!" The man grinned down at him. Naruto slowly turned on his back and looked up to the said man. His blue eyes meet with two strong, joyful green eyes staring right back at him. Naruto's eyes widen due to shock and fear.

'Is there other people like me? Like randomly showing up to this place?' Naruto asked himself, he slowly moved his left hand down to his abdomen but quickly moved both hands to cover his naked chest which had something soft around his lower stomach. He quickly looked down, sighing a bit that this old man wasn't a perv or something. Naruto had a green cloak around his waist -his ass is not touching the tree-, he felt his underwear touch his skin. It's better then be completely naked but still it's a tad weird and who the hell is this guy?

"Who a-are you...sir?" Naruto thought it was a good idea to be nice, he has no idea what this guy can do to him and it's better to be on someone's nice side than angry side, Naruto knew that better than anyone. The said man gave him a soft, kind look before letting out a quiet chuckle from his lips, a soft, kind smile still on his face.

"Eh? Worried 'bout titans then your chest, an' now me, your one scary-cat, yeh know?" Naruto bushed a bit, not expecting him to see his movements. The guy moved his hand from behind -where he held himself up- and lifted his left to his heart with the other one somewhere on his back. He slammed his fits into his body and looked straight forwards. "I, Aoyagi Kaito are one of the survey corps squad leaders." Naruto looked at him dumbfounded, did this 'Aoyagi' really need to be so formal with a kid like Naruto. "Yeh?" Kaito looked down with a relaxed smile on his tan face.

"Uzumaki Naruto, sir Ayugi." Naruto answered back, he too wanted to smile but he couldn't just trust this guy so quickly, he'll be dead sooner or later if he did. Kaito snickered a bit -that Naruto pronounced his name wrong- before grabbing something from his trousers. He had dark tight, tan trousers that had leather straps that twisted around his thighs and down and buckled onto his brown, knee tall boots. The same color straps went around his chest and under his armpits, he had a navy blue dress shirt that seemed to squeeze around him. Everything Kaito had was covered in mud and grass, tattered and ripped in some spots. He had an almost invisible mustache, his brown hair was shoulder length, it was pulled down back in a man pun. A couple of strands of his curly hair popped out of said pun and into his face. Naruto looked back down then up at Kaito, the green cloak that covered him was not the one he found in the woods, it was different, cleaner and bigger. He pulled out a -disguising- rag from his pants, he wiped something off his face before putting it back in his pockets.

"No need to be so formal, Naruto-kun. Please call me Kaito, it is my given name after all and I like hearing it. Hehe." Kaito informed Naruto, who relaxed under his smile and words. This guy, Kaito, seems nice and trustworthy.

"I can say the same thing about ya, old man." Naruto laughed. Kaito burst out with quite a chuckle. Before Kaito could protest that he wasn't, Naruto began to quickly spit out questions. "Why am I naked? Are ya a perv or something? And what about the three titans? What happened to the titans. Where are my clothes? What is the 'survey corps?' I never heard of the survey corps, and where are we?" Naruto asked, trying to get off of Kaito's lap. Kaito raises his hands to slow Naruto down and his questions.

"Firs' thing, i wouldn't recommend yeh trying ter sit or stand up. Yeh're still healing, kid. Both of' your legs were fractured and twisted deadly weird, same with two o' your rigs. Yeh've also sprained your right' wrist, i'm a bit surprised tha' yeh can move it the way yeh are." Kaito explained while pointing down at Naruto's wrist. Naruto complied and layed back down on Kaito's knees. Shaking his thoughts away he began to speak again, "Second thing, i'm not that' old to be called 'old man' by yeh. I'm thirty-one and perfectly perfect." He huffed out with a small blush on his cheeks. "Also i'm not a pervert! I like older women, not little kids! Bloody...What were the other questions again… i might have forgotten.."

Naruto giggled at him and his actecks, a little happy that he isn't a rapist or something. "I said 'why am I naked? Where are my clothes? What is the 'survey corps? -cuz I never heard of them- What happe-" Naruto's little spitting of questions was cut short by Kaito's hand on top of his gold hair. "What?" Naruto looked away from the tree tops and to Kaito, who had a nervous twitch in his eyes.

"One at a time please and thank yeh." He snickered, removing his hand and placing it behind him, so he could hold himself up better. Naruto quickly apologized while blushing, he didn't know he was spouting that much. "It's fine, it's fine..The first question was why are yeh naked?'" He asked, Naruto nodded his head a yes. "Yeh were injured and' bloody. -like i said- so i thought it was a good idea to clean yeh up. Plus yeh pissed yourself ahha….. Sorry anyways i didn't remove your underwear because i don't know nor have permission to do so. But yeh're cleaned and batched up. But your underwear still smells like piss... '' Kaito explained while pointing at his chest and legs with both hands. Naruto looked down and slowly moved the cloak off of him, a thin bandage -that had blood soaking into- was wrapped around each of his legs. They no longer were twisted and backwards, they looked fine and straight but pain still tickled his feet to his knees. Naruto slowly moved his head to the right, more bandages wrapped around his whole chest, down to his hips and up to his collarbone. Looking at his right wrist, it wasn't covered in white or red, bloody bandages. Instead it was covered with many different leaves, which some were long and thin, while the others were cracking, small, and short. He could see dried blood soaked into the green and brown leaves, making a bit maroon and light black.

"Why do I have leaves on my arm? Did ya forget to move it or something?" Naruto mumbled the last part to himself, he tried his best to not move that much but taking off the cloak and moving his head around still caused pain to hit him from all over, but it wasn't as bad as night he got hurt, -he has no idea when that was, but he guessed it was last night- which he was happy for.

"Aha no i didn' forget, i ran out of' tape for your hand an' used leaves ter bandage you'. The bandages I used are obviously better but yeh always need to have a plan B when taking a trip outside the walls." Kaito smiled while pointing one of his fingers everywhere to explain with more execment. Naruto's breathing stopped for a second, Kaito quickly looked down at him with worry. "Yeh alright?" He asked, moving a bit on the large branch that he was sitting on.

"Wall? Outside the Walls?" Naruto questioned, his blue eyes were wide with confusion and happiness, he began breathing again but it was still a bit hitched in his throat while talking.

"...Yeah the three main walls that protect all the people from the man eating titans…" Kaito looked down at Naruto with hesitation. He has never met anyone that doesn't know about the walls, nor met anyone outside the said walls. Is Naruto just like the doctor that he heard about when he was younger while spying on his brother. The doctor was found outside the walls and knew nothing about where he came from or why he got to the spot. Shaking his head, there was no way that this kid was like that doctor nor did it matter. He was lost, miles on miles away and split from his group, they were probably dead by now, well Kaito wishs they were dead and not lost like him. He was the leader and failed his one mission, to protect his squad while killing the titans for the main group that had his brother in it.

'Damn it, there is no way in hell i'm going' to make it back to the wall with a kid, even if i didn' have naruto with me. I highly doubt that' i'll get out of this hell hole o' a forest. My gear is broken and I don't have a couple more rashnes left. All me medline supplies are gone. Water is almost gone, i didn' see any lakes or rivers… maybe if i head back to that one river where naruto almost fell into.. But that's pretty far plus on foot.. Shit this is really not good, at all….Maybe we could head ro the safe house, it might be close but who knows' Kaito thought while biting his lower lip. No way he will survive with or without Naruto, just his luck.

"-o the wal-… oi… Hey Kaito?...Oi!...Old Man!" Naruto stopped his talking about the walls and yelled at the man, who he was resting his head on, after realizing that Kaito wasn't listening to a word he had said to him. Kaito snapped out of his thoughts and blinked a couple of times before looking down at Naruto with a worried look. Naruto saw this but didn't comment, he had no place to, he too had thoughts that made it almost impossible to listen to people's words. "Old man, did ya hear me?" He asked while tilting his head one way, though it caused a bit of pain but he paid no mind to it, just Kaito.

"O-oh, sorry naruto-kun. I was thinking, what' were yeh saying?" Kaito quickly changed the topics before Naruto could say anything else, though Naruto wasn't going to prive in his thoughts in the first place. Naruto faked sighed while shaking his head a tad, putting fake disappointment and anger on his face.

"Rude! I was saying could we go to the walls, I don't like being out here with the 'man eating creatures', ya' know?" He snapped out with a small smile on his lips. He crossed his left arm over himself, he would have done both but he couldn't due to the fact that he sprained his right wrist and it hurts to move it. Kaito chortled at Naruto's action before speaking the way he did before his thoughts,

"Sorry Naruto-kun but we can't." Kaito rubbed his messy brown hair in embarrassment. "Yeh see… i might have gotten lost' after going' to the bathroom." Naruto gave him an unimpressed look, making Kaito want to explain his situation to the kid. "H-hey! don't look at me like that…..See well, i- yeh know that' i'm a squad leader and of course squad leader's have teammates to give orders to. Well I had to go pee, so i told my team to go to the main base -we were done with what' we had to do- an' leave me behind so i could go, which they followed me command and left. I then went to look for a spot to pee, cuz those ugly lot of things wouldn't stop following me, and when I did lose 'em. I- wait. I went looking for a spot, I left my jacket on a tree branch so I could know where to go when I was done pissing." Naruto gave him another glare that said 'really? Does this 'jacket' mean anything to the story?' Kaito ignored the look, "Back to the point of the story, when i found a spot close to my jacket but far away from the titans, i went to the bathroom… shut up, yeh to go to the bathroom… anyways when i went back, i tried looking for my jacket so i knew where to go. But i couldn't find anywhere, it was gone, gone. So tha' stupid jacket tha' prob'ly flew away from the wind. Tha' thing got me lost' not me sense of' decision, which is really good, if yeh were wondering." Kaito huffed out, looking away while crossing his hands just like Naruto did but with both arms not one. Naruto made a 'O' shape with his mouth while pushing his eyebrows together, he wasn't really exempting the jacket to mean anything to the plot of the story…. wink wink.

"Ok….How did you find me? Or was it just luck that you found me, also- wait answer my other questions before I forget them, alright?" Naruto stated while pointing up at Kaito, who nodded an yes for an answer. Naruto closed his eyes, trying to remember his questions from the man who had helped him, well said to help me. "Ok...he answered 'why i'm naked' and 'are ya a prevt'..." He talked to himself, trying to figure out what questions still needed answers.

"Alright, where are my clothes? I know why ya took them but where did ya set them?" Naruto repeated just to make sure Kaito knew what he was saying. Naruto didn't want to seem more of an idiot then he already is.

Kaito nodded again while thinking, he moved his hands from behind his back and towards Naruto head, Naruto watched as Kaito slowly and carefully lifted his head while grabbing the rag from his pants again, and putting it under Naruto's head before placing him down on the said rag. The dirty rag wasn't that much comforte but he'll take what he can get. Kaito stood up onto his brown bouts, showing off his height. He was easily 5"11' maybe 6''0. Naruto wished one day he'll be that tall, he was always got made fun of because he was shorter then every kid in his age group. "Yeh'er clothes should be…." He trailed off, turning on his feet and heading for the base of the tree, Naruto could feel shards of wood poking at the back of his legs and arms, he guessed they were on a large branch. But he wasn't sure if he layed on one or not, so he was going to ask where they were after Kaito comes back with his clothes. He placed his hand onto the tree bark, looking down at something Naruto couldn't see. Before Naruto could ask what he was up to, Kaito up down, off of the tree branch and out of Naruto's sight.

Naruto laid wide eyed at the spot where Kaito had just been, shock and confusion was nothing nhow he felt. "Wh-...What the hell?!" He shouted, trying his best to sit up and look over the side of the branch. A grunt from right below him made Naruto hold his movement and stay still, was it another titan coming to eat him or Kaito. Why did Kaito jump off of the tree? Where the hell are his clothes.

"Yeh need to be quiet! There still titans walking around here." Kaito shouted in a hush voice, his accent replacing some letters or completely forgetting them. Naruto sighed out in relief, he didn't know he was holding his breath. But he stayed quiet while breathing the softest he could, so titans could hear him or Kaito, who was alway quiet. The sound of wood breaking made Naruto turn his head over to where Kaito had jumped. Naruto jumped at the hand that reached around the tree branch and now top of it, relaxing when Kaito's messy brown hair popped up from below. He pulled himself over and onto the branch, breathing a bit heavy before turning around to look at Naruto, who was still laying on the tree. "Here ya go, your clothes and' shoes.." He whispered, just barely reaching Naruto's ears that were still ringing from something, he wasn't sure. A light lit in Naruto's blue eyes, happy, he was happy that he was going to be wearing something else then his dark blue colored underwear which had pink colored hearts on them, which Kaito really wanted to laugh at but he held himself back with only a content smirk.

"Where were they?" Naruto asked, trying to sit up but failed for the third time today. Kaito walked over to him, clothes and shoes in hand. Naruto reeled back into his mind, trying to think where his shoes went. He remembers losing them because he looked down at his feet and they were gone but now Kaito has them? It made no sense to Naruto but he shrugged it off.

"Need help? If yeh don't mind, o' course." Kaito sat down right behind Naruto's head -Where he sat before he left to get Naruto's clothes- which he nodded a yes to Kaito. Naruto a bit, waiting for Kaito's answer for his question. "Your clothes were below us, the branch right' under us." He handed Naruto his tan cargo pants, which were still ripped but they no longer looked like shit and smelled like piss and blood, which Naruto was happy and grateful for. Naruto used his left hand to grab his pants and slowly withered himself into them, Kaito grabbed the grey t-shirt from where he sat it, and clothed Naruto when he was done with his pants.

"A other question if you don't mind me asking?" Naruto added a quick 'thank you' at the end just to make sure Kiato knew he was grateful, plus he really didn't want to be abandoned or tricked by another person. Especially one that he trusts with his life, like Kaito. That would crush him into pieces if Kaito did betray him. Kaito nodded while saying a quick 'I don't' with a smile, this made Naruto think for a second to understand what he had said. He hated those types of answers or questions, always confusing to him. "Where are we? On a branch or something?" He asked, pulling over the green cloak back over his body to keep warm. A cold breeze hit his face, making them a bit pink. What month was it? He questioned himself, he thought it was somewhere in august while running away from titans and the flying people. But now, it felt like early November.

"...No idea, sorry. I know tha' we are on a tree branch and somewhere in the forest near the Kurai district(1). But other then tha', I'm not sure." Kaito deeply sighed out, frustration was clearly on his tan face. "What's the next' question?" He asked, trying to sound optimistic about the situation they were in but failed. He leaned back onto his hands, looking at the sun, that was slowly making it's trip down from the high point. It was probably one or two, if Naruto had to guess.

Naruto started at Kiato for a moment, thinking of what he had said, 'Kurai district? What the hell is a 'district'? First a group of people called the 'survey corpse' and now a 'district'? Is this old man making things up?' Naruto shook his thoughts away and spoke up with a grin on his face, "What's the survey corpse? Is it a squad or team or something?" Naruto guessed to himself, he was still looking up at Kaito, who began to snort out with laughter at Naruto's words. Naruto gave him a confused look, what did he do that was so funny to him?

"Ahah it- aha it's not 'survey corpes' aha it- it's 'survey corps' ahah, yeh know corpse fits better then corps for the job we have to do!" Kaito guffawed, putting both of his hands in front of his mouth, trying to cover his loud laugh that seemed to scare some of the animals away. Naruto's confused face became more and more bewildered and perplexed at Kaito's dying laughing state. Really what's so funny about what Naruto had said, really? Naruto had a weird sense of humor but really? Laughing so hard -that he might stop breathing- because Naruto said 'corpse' and not 'corps'...what the hell..

"...What's so funny, old man?" Naruto perplexed, titling his head to one side. "I didn't say anything that was that funny to make you look like you'll die from just laughing. I know i'm a funny . Komei.." Naruto cursed, his eyes blurred for a split second, same thing with his body heat -though he was freezing-, he mouth tasted weird and dry like before, his legs felt numb, something ringed in his ears, something foul hit his nose just for a second before everything went back to normal.

Eyes focusing back up at Kaito, his legs and arms no longed felt achy, the grinning sound in his ear was back to the normal animal -from below- and Kaito and his own breathing, the metallic and bitter sting on his tongue was replaced with his usual sweet, miso, pork taste, heat of the cloak and clothes on him warmed him up, the nauseating smell was gone, and the forest filled his nose.

It reminded Naruto of what happened when he was getting chased by the three titans, speaking of that, what happened to them, Naruto knew one fell to the ground but what about the two that grabbed and attacked him? Were they dead? Was the one that fell on the ground dead too? Naruto had so many -too many- questions and thoughts of things that are happening and happened, but there weren't enough answers for the young kid. He wanted more, he needed more if he wanted to survive. But still there might never be enough answers for all of his questions, especially how he got here.

He doesn't remember this forest nor anything before falling onto a tree branch. Where the hell was he before he got here. Was it that village full of people he saw in one of his 'dreams' but Naruto didn't want, everytime he tried to think about the three people in the foggy forest or the tall mountain he sat on, looking down at people in the village. His mind would start to blur and pain would prickle his head, no matter how much he tried the same thing would happen. He is stuck in a place he doesn't remember and all his old thoughts and memories are gone and out of his reach, just out of his reach. Just a fingertip away.

Kaito was still trying to hide his laughter, trying to make sure he doesn't alert the nearby Titans, that roamed around below them, lucky for them, Kaito's gear got them up until a high branch of a 30 meter tall before breaking, and popped due to how Kaito had used it. But he failed -miserably-, when Naruto came to, he really questioned if Kaito was actually a leader to people and not animals or something weird. "So-" Kaito stopped his -very short- sentence, his howling laugher breaking through his throat. Which made Naruto look at him weird, more than before. "S-sorry, amh!" He coughed trying to hold his chuckle, which he exceeded to do this time. Naruto very much still wanted to know why what he said was so funny to Kaito, the leader. Kaito whipped away the tears that tickled Kaito's green eyes before speaking up without a loud laugh or chuckle interrupting him. "Sorry no clue why tha' was so funny… but it was funny. But to answer your question, the Survey Corps -Or Scout Regiment, or Recon Corps, and Scouting Legion- is a part of the military, which specialize in killing Titans and finding things out abou' the ugly beasts. -Not a lot of people join or even like us- but we -the Survey Corps- symbolize hope and ambition for mankind, which is why we have the 'wings of freedom' on our cloaks, cool yeah?" Kaito seemed to beam just talking and thinking about how amazing the branch of military he was in, every word that came out of his mouth seemed as if he was telling Naruto about dragons, he was excited. "There are a lot of great members, each one is spectacular in everything they do. It's a bit creepy they get placed in the squad so well..each member is pushed into a different squad. Six of them if I remember righ'. Every department -which is another word for squad- focuses on one or two things, but some groups are there to split people up and have more room. Like the Third and Sixths, the latter focused on thinking o' new plans, ideas, and tools for the Fourth squad to make and expand on. The Third squad is for assisting the Commander and the Second squad, and the Second is there for focusing on attacking and fighting -but every member of the Corps can fight and kill- they just specialized in it the most." He explained -rising and twisting his hands every which way, to show off some of things with his hands while- blabbered-, his dark green eyes brightening and twinkling with the afternoon sun as he did. Naruto felt the joy radiating off of him, which made him grin like a maniac, a happy maniac. Naruto could only guess what squad Kaito was in, The fourth and Second squad were the two Naruto thought that fit the adult.

What squad would he be in, if he joined the Scouts? He asked himself, well probably the scouts were inside the walls while Naruto and Kiato were outside them, plus they were lost in a large, overgrown forest of titans, so no way out and into the safety of the walls But if Naruto did get inside the walls, what department would he be put into? The Sixth sounded boring to him, it was just all thinking and more thinking. The third seemed a good fit for himself, he thought. Assisting the Commander -who ever that is- and killing titans with the Second squad seemed good to him. But fighting titans… no way in hell Naruto could do that, just no way. He already had enough adrenaline pumping in his veins for his life. But.. it did make Naruto want to fight back, back against the large creatures. People had -to- defeated them and still do, so why can't Naruto? He could try. And if there is just a sliver of hope in doing something, Naruto will take that small piece and shape it into something bigger, he will do anything if he can, or can not.

"T-that's cool! What are the other squads?" Naruto shouted in a hush tone, "Is there one just for saving? Or helping people? Like, like helping people that can't fight? That would be cool." Naruto did really want to know more about the Scouts, even if he can't get inside, he can still imagine what it would be like, what exactly they do, were they nice? Or bad? Would they like him and his antics? Well Naruto hopes they do, if they ever met.

'Don't tell anyone much about us, we don't need more problems.' A dull, blunt voice ringed in Kaito's head. 'If an outsider asks questions, don't answer. We are the Recon Corps. Recon. We need to have secrets, secrets make people stronger. If you go spilling the beans of our secrets, then it will only cause more problems. Problems are annoying and difficult to solve. And we don't need more problems, we already have them to deal with.' A different voice -a more rough and ragged- echoed in his head. Kaito knew all of this, and he was the worst keeping secrets in all of the Corps. But he too is now an outsider, there is no way to find the walls, then travel there, with no gear, and a kid without getting -painfully- killed. So it wouldn't matter if he told Naruto or not, but still someone might hide them….'No I will not tell him, even if I want to. Someone might find us, and Naruto might tell the Military. That would really be bad, they already hate us.' Kaito thought, looking down at Naruto's bright face, overflowing with excitement. Kaito hated that look, the look of hope. He despised it. He too had a hope look on his face, hope for someone to hide him and Naruto. Hope to be back in the walls, hope to be safe until he dies from old age not titans eating him.

"A-ah I'll tell yeh more when… when we get a place to sleep. A good warm place, not some tree, alright?" Kaito stumbled over what he wanted to say, he was just giving Naruto more hope. Naruto nodded in understanding though he really wanted to know more about the group Kaito was in and the walls that protects people from the outside, he could tell something was off with him but didn't push. "Is there any more questions yeh got?" He asked, scratching the back of his head out of nervousness of Naruto finding out what he was thinking.

"Uhhh no I don't have anymore….oh mm what month is it? No numbers, just the name." Naruto quizzed, he had more questions but something inside of him was telling him to stop, stop asking questions or something might happen. Something that isn't good for him or Kaito. Naruto focused on his last question, no more questions he told himself. Just this last one and I'm done. Naruto couldn't remember the numbers of the months to the names, he tried to but he stopped, saying it was too much thought process for one thing that doesn't matter that much in the real world. He wasn't wrong but still it's a bit sad.

Kaito's green eyes glazed back down at Naruto, but he stayed staring upwards at the shining sun. Hope was still in his blue eyes, Kaito wanted to answer but if he did, Naruto would ask another question. He didn't want to answer the kid's questions and guesses. Kaito's eyes moved left to right, thinking of if he should answer and what was the reply to it. He should he? Or should he not? What was the answer in the first place? November or August? Or maybe January. Kaito never paid mind to the mouths or the days just like Naruto, which made Kaito boil up just at the thought he was similar to a kid who was found outside the walls. He shouldn't be feeling like this, why is he feeling like this? He grew up with his parents telling him he should care for everyone and treat everyone with love, no matter what. "I think it's early November but I could be wrong. I s'pose it could be very early December but tha' might be too late. So it's probably November fifteenth or sixteenth. But i'm not too sure." Kaito replied dryly, not wanting to talk. The excitement of being out here was gone. But another or less he answered Naruto's assumption, who seemed to not be listening to a word he had spoken.

Silence fell onto them, the only noise where the trolding and grunts of deer walking and talking, hoots and chirps of birds and owls that would fly above them, growling of boars who wanted food, the squeaks of squirrels who also wanted to find food, and the croaks of frogs that made Kaito cringe every time. But Naruto stayed quiet, not a peep from his mouth or russell of fabric moving. After what felt like hours, Kaito looked down at Naruto, wanting to know if he fell asleep or if he saw a titan. But when he looked, Naruto was wide awake, he wasn't staring at anything, he was just staring at nothing in particular. He's face was to the left, cheek against Kaito's knees. If Naruto wasn't laying on him, then he would have thought Naruto wasn't breathing, he looked like he just saw a ghost. "Hm!?" Kaito hummed out in surprise, did he say something wrong or was Naruto just upset that Kaito was blunt with his words. The color was Naruto's skin was gone, it really did look like he just saw a ghost or something. His blue eyes were straight and unfocused.

"Naruto? Yeh alright?" Kaito asked, but something asked half heartedly, 'if Naruto died...No stop thinking like that. He needs help, he was dying when I found him and now I just want him gone because it's going to be harder on me to live. What the hell is wrong with me?!' Kaito thought, shaking his absurd thoughts away. And bringing his full attention to Naruto who didn't respond, his eyes didn't even switch in the slightest nor did his body when kaito spoke or made sounds. "Naruto-kun? Are yeh alright? Can yeh hear me?" Kaito repeated, but still no answer from Naruto.

All the worry for Naruto that he pushed away came flooding back at Kaito, hard. "Shit shit shit…. What am I supposed to do? He isn't doing anything, no signs not actions…. Maybe he's asleep.. With his eyes open..?" Kaito trailed off, he didn't see Naruto sleeping with his eyes open once when he was sleeping for the two nights. Kaito hastily grabbed the dirty rag -from before- out of his pant's pocket, he put the said thing on Naruto's nose and mouth. Pinching Naruto's nose and shoved the cloth into his face, trying to wake Naruto up. Yes he would have shaken or slapped the kid, but he knew Naruto was still in pain from the titans, so no need to add to that. A vibrating sound came from Naruto -like a hum- before his eyes squeezed closed and shot back open, fear flashing in his large blue globes. Naruto whipped his head to face Kaito, who was staring right back down at Naruto, with the same panic look in his eyes. "So-sorry Naruto, I- Yeh err Yeh were asleep.. I think, maybe.. So mm I…" kaito stammered out, trying to not look Naruto in the eyes or in the same direction. He wasn't expecting Naruto to react like that, like a cat whose tail was stepped on. 'What the hell..' He thought.
