A/N: This side story is almost over. I will probably do three more short chapters, maybe four and then its back to just writing the main story. Hope you like this one.

Chapter 8. Goten's first errand.

Little Goten woke up with a smile on his face knowing that this was going to be a good day. How did he know you might ask? Simple. Today was his birthday and that meant that he wasn't just a toddler anymore. He was a whole three years old, and as far as he was concerned, that made him a big kid like Gohan and Zangya. He jumped out of his bed and stretched

"Yeah!" He cheered to himself, then dropped into a stance that was meant to imitate his big brother. "Now I can help people just like Gohan. Evil doers beware! Nothing can stop the Gold fighter with Goten at his side!" He threw a few punches into the air followed by a kick.

"OOOOHHHH NOOOOOOO!"

A scream from down the hall made him lose balance and he fell down. He got up while rubbing his backside. "That sounded like Mom." He thought out loud and his eyes widened. "She must be in trouble! I'll save you mommy!" He rushed out his bedroom door and ran to the kitchen to see his mom standing with the back of her hand to her forehead in a show of distress.

"Somebody! I need your help." Chichi said, pretending to not see her son.

"What's wrong mommy? Where's the bad guy?" He looked around and then started to pick up dishes like he expected the villain to be hiding under a bowl. Chichi suppressed a smile.

"Oh, Goten, it's just awful!" She said dramatically. "It's far worse than any bad guy."

"What!?" Goten paused in alarm. "What is it? What's wrong?"

"We're out of eggs! And I don't have anyone to send to the store for me!"

Goten sweat dropped. "Is that it?"

"Is that it!?" Chichi exclaimed, nearly fainting. "Why, Goten, don't you know what this means? Without eggs, we won't be able to have fried chicken for your birthday dinner!"

*Gasp* "No!"

"Not only that, but how will poor Zangya be able to make your special birthday cake!?"

"NOT THE CAKE!" Goten yelled, now seeing clearly the danger of the situation. Saving the day was one thing, but saving dinner? Why, that was the greatest service a man could give, especially when the cakes were so high… I mean, the stakes. The stakes were so high.

"Oh, and I am just too weak from the excitement to go to the store, and Zangya and Gohan are busy today." His mother lamented. "If only I had somebody who could rescue us from this distress! If only there were someone here who was old enough to venture out into the world and get the eggs that we need!"

Goten's face lit up. "OOH! Ooh! Mommy!" He raised his hand excitedly. "I can get the eggs!"

"Oh no! Not my baby boy." She shook her head. "Why, you're only two."

"Nuh uh!" Goten said indignantly. "I'm three now! That means I'm a big kid."

Chichi reeled at this revelation. "Why, so it does. Goten, can you go out to the village and get some eggs?"

"Uh huh!" He nodded enthusiastically.

"My hero!" Chichi swooned. "Here's a bit of money to pay for them. You can take the flying nimbus, ok?"

"Yeah huh! I'll get those eggs in no time!" With that, he ran out the door and hopped on the yellow cloud, speeding away.

Chichi watched with a smile, but her expression quickly changed to dead serious. "Don't let him out of your sight." Zangya and Gohan suddenly appeared behind her wearing sunglasses and they saluted to acknowledge the order.

"Yes ma'am!" They yelled, before disappearing again.

Break

"Wow, I can't believe Goten is already three." Zangya looked up ahead and watched the little guy perched atop the nimbus cloud.

"Yeah, it's kind of funny though, Mom never would have let me go on an errand by myself." Gohan could never understand his mother.

"Well, he's not really by himself, I mean he's got us watching out for him." Zangya smiled. "We'll make sure that he get's home safely. Just remember, no direct interference."

"Are you sure about that? Maybe we should." The younger teen questioned.

"Look, I know he's still little, but it's just eggs. If we show up, he might suspect that Chichi lied to him. I worked hard on that script and I won't have it wasted."

"Well, yeah, but-"

"Honestly Gohan, you worry too much. What could possibly go wrong?"

"Well, for starters, he just flew right over the village he was supposed to go to."

"Huh?" Zangya looked down and sure enough, they had passed over the only village for miles around.

"Should we turn him around?" Gohan asked.

"No!" The hera said firmly. "I'm sure the little guy knows exactly what he's doing. Maybe he doesn't like the eggs in this village. Let's just see how this plays out."

Up ahead on the nimbus, not only was Goten completely oblivious to his pursuers, he was also completely lost.

"Do you know where the village is mister nimbus?" Goten asked the cloud but got no answer. "Huh… Me either. Oh well, I'm sure if we just keep going, we'll see something."

As a matter of fact, Goten was right. But rather than a village, he flew right into Satan city (Formerly orange star city). The cloud dropped low to the ground and he hopped off, looking around. "Wow, Chazke village is a lot different from the last time I was here. I wonder if one of these buildings is Mr. Lao's shop." He walked along the streets looking up at the skyscrapers and trying to find the food store.

Gohan and Zangya tailed him from a distance, (a very close distance) making sure they stayed out of sight and he stayed out of trouble.

"Well, I can't find it. Maybe I should ask somebody for directions."

"Hey there little boy." A man who could only be described as creepy called from a van in an alley way. "Are you lost?"

"Oh, hello. Do you know where Mr. Laos shop is?" Goten asked the strange man.

"Sure I do. Are you going there to buy yourself some candy?"

"No." Goten shook his head. "My mom needs eggs."

"Well, I happen to have some eggs back here in this van. You can have em plus, all the candy you can eat."

"Really!?" Goten said excitedly.

"Yeah, just come on in here and it's all yours."

"Wow, ok!" He took a step forward, but then he felt something hit the back of his head like someone threw a rock at him. "HEY!" He turned around and looked to see who hit him.

While his back was turned and he was looking all over for the culprit, Zangya and Gohan yanked the creepy guy out of his van, threw him threw the wall so they were out of Goten's sight, shot a Ki blast at the vehicle, blowing it to bits, and continually curb stomped the guy into the ground.

"Huh, maybe it was a bird." Goten turned around to see that the stranger and the van were gone. "Oh no, he must have left. Oh well, guess I'll have to buy the eggs after all."

Gohan and Zangya were still stomping on the man when Goten left the scene. Gohan sensed his movement and nudged Zangya. "He's on the move."

"Ok, one more for good measure."

Both of them kicked the man a few more times before they finally caught up with Goten, who had stopped at a corner where he pulled a map out of a booth on the sidewalk.

"Maybe the shop will be on here." He opened the map and scratched his head. "What is this? It's just a bunch of lines… Oh, I know, I bet if I get up high, maybe I can figure out where I am!"

Folding up the map he jumped and grabbed the side of a building then started to climb up it. When he reached the top, he opened the map again and started to walk along the ledge. He was so absorbed in trying to decipher the map that he didn't realize he was about to walk straight off the building, and he would have, if not for one thing. Unknown to his little brother, Gohan had flown up and let Goten use his hands as stepping stones until he made it to the next building. This continued for several buildings with each gap being alternated between Gohan and Zangya. Goten still couldn't make heads or tales of the map and after five buildings decided to stop. "Hm… Maybe I should ask someone again." Without a second thought, he jumped down from the building, freaking his brother and Zangya out, but landing safely on the ground. "Ok… Oh, there's a park! I bet I can ask someone there."

Without looking Goten ran across the street to get to the park. Zangya and Gohan had to literally stand in the way of traffic, picking up cars and flying them over head so they wouldn't hit the three-year-old. Just then, Goten heard someone crying. "Waaaahh!"

"Oh no! Sounds like someone is in trouble!" Goten jumped into action and ran to the sound of the crying. He came upon a little girl about his age with brown hair and a yellow dress. She was standing in a sandbox with a pile of sand in front of her. Tears were flowing from her eyes.

"Never fear miss! I'll save you!" This declaration stunned the little girl and she stopped crying to see Goten standing and posing heroically like Gohan and Zangya.

"Um… Who are you?"

"I am… Well, I don't have a cool name picked out yet. I guess just Goten for now." He said embarrassedly but quickly bounced back. "But what seems to be the trouble here?"

"I, *sniff*, I can't get my sandcastle to stay up."

Goten looked down at the pile of sand then back at the girl. "Oh, is that all. I can help you with that."

*sniff* "R-really?" she asked with hope in her tear-stained eyes.

"Yeah, my big brother is really good at making sandcastles and he taught me a few tricks. Here." For the next half hour, Goten and the girl worked on the sandcastle, and only stopped once when they saw a light flash from the bushes. They decided to ignore it and continued with their project.

Meanwhile, behind the bush.

"Zangya you almost got us caught." Gohan whispered. "Whatever happened to staying hidden?"

"I am making memories!" She growled furiously. "This is way to adorable to pass up. Besides, the flash is off now."

"Where did you even get the camera? How do you keep pulling stuff out of nowhere?"

"What are you talking about Rice ball?" Zangya asked with genuine confusion.

Back at the sandcastle operation, Goten dusted the wet sand off his hands and stood up. "There, what do you think?"

"It's beautiful!" The little girl exclaimed and hugged the boy. "You're my hero!"

"Anytime Miss." Goten tried to do an impersonation of Gohan's voice.

"You can call me Valese." The girl said shyly.

"Ok. Do you know where Mr. Lao's store is Valese? I need to buy some eggs."

"Oh, well, I don't know Mr. Lao, but there's a market close by. Come on, I'll show you." The girl reached out for his hand and pulled him along, while the furious clicking noise of a camera was coming from the bush.

Valese took Goten to the store which was just around the block. "Here it is."

"Wow! Thanks, Valese!" Goten said sincerely.

"Valese!" A woman who looked like the girl's mother came running up. "I've been looking everywhere for you. Come on, it's time to go home. Say goodbye to your little friend." Valese waved sadly to Goten who offered his own cheery goodbye wave.

"Alright! Now, I finally can get those eggs!" But his excitement was short lived. When he got to the eggs and opened a carton, his face fell. "Aw man, these are so tiny!"

"Well, young fella, those are the standard size for chicken eggs." An old store worker said with a smile.

"But these aren't good enough." Goten looked sadly down at the eggs. "They're supposed to be for big sis Zangy and I have to get her the best."

"Aaawww." Was heard from another aisle.

"Well son, these are the very best eggs around. Only way that you could do better is if you got, oh, I don't know… A dinosaur egg." The old man chuckled as he walked away leaving Goten to stare at the eggs.

"Dinosaur egg… THAT'S IT!"

Break

"Mommy, I'm home!"

Chichi ran to the front room when she heard Gotens voice. "Goten, where have you been!? I expected you back hours ago!"

Goten smiled. "Sorry, but I got some really good eggs, see?" He pointed out the front door and Chichi looked to see a pile of dinosaur eggs almost the size of Goten. Alongside it was a fat Pterodactyl with x-d out eyes. "I even got the chicken for dinner too!" He looked up at his mother, eager for praise.

Chichi continued to stare at what her youngest son had brought home and after a moment, she just sighed.

"Well, that's about what I expected."
