Last chapter. My next fanfic in this catagory will appear after I've watched Season Four when it airs in my country.
Today was the day that Ning would finally purge the bad spirits from her mind and body. There was no telling how the gas would affect her which is why she was currently being restrained by her father.
"I'm not liking this situation one bit. It was one thing to discuss what we would do. Now, putting into practice I'm realizing how bad it is," Master Fu sighed.
Not only did they need to restrain Ning so she didn't hurt herself or anyone else, but he also couldn't be in the same room when the gas was released. Without a gas mask, there would be no way to avoid the effects.
The Kwamiis were immune to the gas. She had tested it on Wayzz, (he had volunteered), and he had not experienced any effects of the gas. That was good because the Kwamiis could monitor her then.
No one knew how long it would take to get through all the spirits. Fortunately, the gas's potency lasted several hours before it reached its half-life. Hopefully, that was enough time for Plagg to forgive the spirits so they could find rest.
Plagg was the main concern in this procedure. They had wanted to wait until night to do this because Hawkmoth attacked during the day more often. However, considering the heroes were still relying on the Academic Circle to keep up with their homework, they didn't have that luxury.
So for one day, Adrien and Plagg had to be separated. They had also crossed their fingers hoping Hawkmoth didn't attack today.
"I hope you took care of any bodily needs because once this starts we can't quit until every spirit has passed on," Plagg warned Ning.
The woman narrowed her eyes at the kwami almost daring him to say more. Having her eyes on him, Plagg shuddered in fear.
Master Fu was going through the reversal process one more time with Honorra. "Remember, if her heartbeat starts getting too erratic you use this syringe to reverse the effects of the gas," he said as he handed over the syringe filled with a light-blue mixture inside it.
"I know Master Fu. I've been practicing so I get it right if I'm needed. We'll be fine."
The old man took a calming breath. There was nothing more he could do except hand the vials of red liquid to the Kwamiis. They watched as he left the room and locked it.
Going to his kitchen, he turned on his computer and brought up the video feed. He was going to keep a close eye on his daughter and was ready to act if he needed to.
In the room, Wayzz looked around to make sure everyone was ready. "On the count of three, we drop the vials. Once they break, the room will start to fill with gas. Don't panic."
"One, two, three!" The vials shattered on the ground. A large cloud of red gas filled the room. Ning took a deep breath letting the gas into her lungs. After she breathed it in a few more times she was ready.
She took down her mental barrier and her consciousness was pushed back as several spirits took control of her body. Each jostling for control.
One at a time! One at a time she mentally screamed. Her voice penetrated the frenzy. The spirits got in a line to wait their turn. The first spirit to take control was the malicious Guardian Gong.
"Ah, Plagg. It is wonderful to see you again. I'm here to beg for forgiveness for the harm I caused," the man's voice came out of Ning's mouth. He tried to bow only to realize he was restrained.
"I can't give you forgiveness until you make amends for what you did. You need to understand how horrible your crime was," Plagg spat.
"I do! I lost my memory as well! I can only recall the terrible things I did. Surely, I have done enough to make amends for past deeds."
Plagg shook his head. He asked Gong to take a deep breath and hold it for twenty seconds.
The spirit did as he was told. As soon as he started holding his breath the gas went to work.
Gong screamed and jerked on the bed. He tried to claw at his head or run, but he couldn't. The restraints held him in place.
The memory of him standing over Myrul-Juruga as she withered on the floor reversed. Now he was on the floor withering in pain. His mind was on fire as he felt the powder burning his brain.
He forgot what his parents looked like. What his favorite food was. He was barely remembering to breathe. As his agony continued, he now understood the pain he put Yindi and her loved ones through.
"I was a monster. I didn't care how my actions harmed others. Only that I remained all-powerful. I'm truly sorry for my actions, Kwami Plagg. Please, forgive me."
Plagg patted his/her cheek. "You have made amends. I hope you find mercy on the other side. I forgive you." Ning burped a white mist that traveled up to the sky and disappeared.
"One down and who knows how many more," Honorra whispered to Wayzz.
The next one up was Duusu's previous wielder, Pranay/Kwan-yin. He used Ning's eyes to look around. "This is the future? It is astonishing how man has developed. I would love to learn how my country is doing."
Swirrly slapped her tail against his/her forehead. "You are not here for fun. It is time you make amends for past deeds!" she declared indignantly.
"She's correct. You murdered people and felt proud of that fact. Let's see how you handle your victims' pain," Plagg snarled. Once again, the spirit breathed in the gas and the process started again.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" he/she screamed. He clawed at the sheets shredding them. His/her legs kicked slightly. He tried to sit up only to crumble back on the bed.
The Kwamiis saw Ning's skin chaffing against the bed. This was only the second spirit. How would her skin look in the end?
One by one, the spirits came through. Some were wielders and others were Guardians. A few of them were thieves/killers who had tried to take the Miraculous for themselves only to meet a swift end.
They had started at seven a.m. and it didn't end until five p.m. Ten whole others to get rid of every last spirit. The gas had entered its half-life around three p.m. It took another hour for the gas to wholly dispel from the room.
Honorra was thankful that she hadn't needed to inject the reversal agent into Ning's body.
The young woman's body was torn up. The skin was ripped around her wrists and legs. Her left wrist had dislocated at some point and it had taken three Kwamiis to get it back in place.
Bruises covered her body. Strands of hair were caught in the headrest. She was dehydrated and hungry. At the moment, Ning was out cold.
Master Fu hurried into the room and undid the restraints. "She needs help quickly! Wayzz, Honorra, Plagg! Bring me the medical supplies from the bathroom. Academic Circle! I need water and mushy food stat!"
As the Kwamiis carried out their duties Master Fu hoped his daughter would recover from this.
The following night, the heroes gathered together in the training center. It was time for Ladybug and Chat Noir to announce the results of their performance reviews.
Each temporary hero was anxious to learn if they had earned their right to be the full-time users of their Miraculouses when their powers were needed.
"Thank you for gathering everyone. I know the last few weeks have been challenging for every one of you. On top of your civilian lives, you have gone the distance when it comes to managing your part-time jobs as heroes," Chat Noir informed the other heroes.
The others preened a little feeling good about themselves. It wasn't every day you got a compliment from a superhero.
Ladybug steeped forward. She was holding several large envelopes. "I'm pleas to let all of you know that you are the official temporary wielders of the Miraculouses. No one is getting replaced."
She let them cheer and congratulate each other before clearing her throat. "This is a big first step to eventually becoming full-time heroes. Now, you've all proven that you can handle being a hero. That doesn't mean you can't grow more. Even Chat Noir and I, keep learning and growing."
She handed each wielder an envelope containing the information about their overall review. "These are your reviews. There is a table of contents and explanation of what certain symbols mean."
"I would like you to take this time to read your report. Do your best to memorize them because we'll be putting them someplace safe so your friends or family don't accidentally find them."
The young heroes all sat down in the living room area and silently read their review reports.
Rene Rouge was glad she got top marks when it came to her performance using her Miraculous. She tried to hide a frown when she came to the part of the report about how she didn't do her best when it came to hiding it.
According to Trixx's own words, "My wielder is fantastic at using her powers and being a heroine in her civilian life. I do have some concern for her ability to separate fantasy and reality."
"My wielder hid her Miraculous like it was a game. She would hide it somewhere in her backpack and then ask me to find it. I found it too easily each time."
"I also have noticed that during training or in fights that my wielder forgets she can be hurt or die because of her reckless behavior."
Her summary was the same. Ladybug recommended that she stop comparing what was happening with comics and movies. Instead, she should read online or newspaper reports about everyday heroes, so she could understand how dangerous this was.
Nino was glad that he got a good score when it came to using his weapon. He had also scored well when it came to his sparring results.
Wayzz had even complimented him for being responsible for his safety the day he watched over him.
When he reached the summary, he wasn't that surprised that the main duo had pointed out he was too protective of Alya/Rene Rouge. That he needed to be protective of all teammates no matter what his relationship was with them.
Honey Bee was wiggling in her seat as she read that she got top scores when it came to knowing how to use her special ability. It was also nice to know that she had improved when it came to her fighting skills by keeping herself grounded.
She was a bit upset when she read her biggest issue was separating her emotions from the fight. Her sister's akumanzation was the main reason. Pollen had mentioned a few times in training how she had given in to her emotions causing her to fail an exercise.
Kkachi bit her lip as she opened her report. She was not surprised that Honorra had given her so much praise. It was also nice to know that the few times she had been transformed, Ladybug and Chat Noir highlighted how well she handled the situations.
The part about her self-doubts was constructive. Ladybug reminded her how strong she was and that she was special because her kwami had chosen her. Chat Noir had added a note saying that whenever she felt doubt think of one positive trait about herself.
It sounded like good advice and she was going to follow it.
Bunnyx had expected the result she got. Because she had only worn her Miraculous a few times, she knew her scores for actual performance wouldn't be as high as her other scores.
What did surprise her was she got a good score for her special ability scenario. She hadn't expected to get high marks. Now the part about her attitude, she could understand the duos concern.
She was very sarcastic with a few teammates. It was in her best interest to behave better towards them.
Across the room from her, King Monkey was biting his cheek to keep from shouting in joy. Despite him overdoing it with his offensive power, he had good marks.
His score for his defensive power was not as high and the same went for his special ability scenario. Becoming the permanent part-time hero, he would have to work on it.
As well as being a bit more independent. He needed to take the lead when it came to working together with others. He could do that.
Both Ryuko and Viperion were sitting next to each other. Neither had been surprised by their results. They had both expected to be given high praises from their Kwamiis.
What had surprised them was the summaries of what they needed to work on. Ryuko was not to use showing compassion to others. Also, she struggled with being empathetic to others.
It wasn't just her cultural background that defined her mannerism. It was also her personality to be indifferent to emotions. It was nice to know Lonng believed that she could grow emotionally the longer she used his Miraculous.
As for Viperion, he was a bit startled by his recommendation. He hadn't realized he had been vague about his intentions. It was normal for everyone to understand him with little to no words.
That wouldn't be helpful during a fight if his teammates didn't know him well.
Sirius was surprised how well he had done of the physical part of the review. He was also given high marks when it came to teamwork skills.
Logically, he knew that his summary would mention he was not improving very quickly with his physical development. Perhaps he should ask Markov to help him develop an exercise plan.
After all, just because he had a big brain was no reason not to have a healthy body. At least, that's what his mother had started telling him now that she was in astronaut training.
Street-Rat couldn't hide the grin on her face. She had gotten top marks and Mullo said she was a natural at being a superheroine.
Chat Noir had advised her that she needed to stand her ground a bit more. She gave into others too easily. She silently vowed to work on being mentally stronger.
Henwen read her results and let out a breath she hadn't know she was holding. Daizzi had said she was a good wielder and that she was using her Miraculous to make amends for her past behavior.
In fact, the only recommendation for Henwen was to continue improving her behavior in and out of the mask.
Ladybug and Chat Noir read their reviews on each other. They shared a smile accepting constructive criticism. It was good to know they were still at the top of their game.
Ten minutes before everyone was to return home, Ladybug clapped her hands. "Everyone, return your reports to Chat Noir. He's going to put them in a safe place. If you want to read these reports again, ask him during a training break."
"Now, there is one other thing I wanted to mention before we all go home," She smiled at her boyfriend, who gave her a cheeky smile. "I wanted to let you know that since your all doing so well that Chat Noir and I plan on creating sub-teams."
"Sub-teams? What does that mean?" Street-Rat asked.
Chat Noir returned from putting the reports away and answered. "Ladybug and I are a team, partners. We've been watching to see who works well together. With Hawkmoth and Mayura getting more creative we're inevitably going to be splitting up to handle multiple problems at once."
"When that happens, we want the best team members working together to resolve issues."
Ladybug finished the speech for him. "We believe and trust each of you to be able to handle these situations without us guiding you. Until that time comes, we're going to keep training and working together to keep Paris safe!"
Jalil Kubdel was in his room with his friend, Baily Pounce. He and Baily could have passed for brothers if Jalil's hair was long and black, along with his skin being darker.
They were both students at Madeleine Vionnet University. The school was named after a famous French designer. It had been a fashion design school for many years.
However, the university had expanded beyond fashion design to include different programs; including classes to become a historian in many different subjects, including Egyptology.
(There was a rumor that the change was done to keep the school open after a few financial issues).
"Alright, name the first Pharaoh in the twenty-first dynasty and the last one during this dynasty?" Jalil asked Baily.
Adjusting his glasses to sit better on his nose he replied, "Pharaoh Smendes was the first one and the last one was Psusennes II."
"The twenty-first dynasty started off the Third Intermediate Period. It lasted one hundred and twenty-six years. Those years correlate to 1069 BC to 943 BC.
It was a time of great decline for the Egyptian government's powers. The Pharaoh's power was concentrated in Lower Egypt. The High Priests of Amun based in Thebes controlled the middle and upper Egypt."
Jalil grinned as he reached up and took off his glasses to clean. "Very thorough Baily. There is no way you won't ace tomorrow's exam."
"Of course I won't," Baily boasted. He wagged his finger at his friend. "You better make sure you wake up on time. The last two times we've had an exam, you nearly missed it because you wanted more beauty sleep."
Jalil rolled his eyes. So he was a heavy sleeper. "I have a secret weapon to get me up on time. Alix promised me she would wake me up on time."
Baily gasped. "You can't be serious? Alix's methods of waking you up are torture! Do I have to remind you of the time she strapped her extra pair of rollerblades on you and dragged you with her as she trained until you woke up?"
Jalil brushed off his friend's concern. "That was two years ago. She's matured since then."
"Really? Because last week she was still skating inside the museum instead of walking. How do you know she's not going to pour a bucket of ice water on your face to get you up?"
"Because our father told her if she tries pranking me to get me to wake up, she'll have to spend the next six months helping him catalog everything in the archives."
Jalil chuckled knowing that punishment was his sister's worst nightmare. She would find a creative and safe way to wake him up tomorrow.
"Well, I trust my good old watch alarm to wake me up," Baily stated as he gazed at his grandfather's watch on his wrist. "It's never let me down before. It won't start now."
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow Baily. I'll be on time, I promise," Jalil said shaking hands with his best friend.
The next morning, Jalil was still sleeping soundly by the time Alix had to leave for school. She snuck into her brother's room and held up the family heirloom to his ear.
She twisted the dial a little and then opened it. A holographic display came to life. "It is time to get up. It is time to get up. IT IS TIME TO GET UP!"
Jalil sprang upright in his bed. He turned to see Alix putting her watch away. "Did you have to have the watch app right up against my ear?"
His sister rolled her eyes. "You wanted me to wake you up in a civil manner. It's not my fault it takes someone shouting in your ear for you to wake up. Good luck on your test today."
Jalil made sure his sister left before getting ready for his classes today. He didn't want to be the unsuspecting victim of one of her pranks.
He took the bus to his school and arrived on campus a half hour before the test was to begin. He hurried to his classroom in the world history building. Upon arriving he was surprised that Baily wasn't waiting for him outside the classroom.
He's probably already inside studying Jalil told himself. He entered the classroom and discovered that was not the case. A majority of the class were in their seats doing some last minute studying but he did not see his friend anywhere.
Sitting down, he pulled out notes. He was still mixing certain facts. If he was going to earn his doctorate, a degree that took eight years to obtain, he needed to pass all his tests.
By getting top marks on all his tests, he didn't need to worry about the higher education ministry revoking their approval for him to attend degree courses. He barely noticed the time passing until the professor announced they would be starting the test in five minutes.
Surprised, Jalil looked around the classroom expecting to see his friend. Baily still wasn't here. It wasn't like him to be this late. Pulling out his phone, he texted Baily, asking him where he was.
He got no reply. Maybe, he was rushing to class and didn't have time to respond? Jalil counted down the minutes anxiously looking at the door hoping his friend would show up.
On the dot, the professor locked the door to the classroom keeping any stranglers out. He then passed out the tests. "You have one hour to complete the test. When you are done, bring it to me and then sit down again quietly."
"You can either read ahead or work on homework for other classes. No one is leaving this room until the hour is up. Your test starts, now."
Meanwhile, at Baily's apartment, he was still sleeping. His grandfather's watch was frozen at midnight. The battery had run out late last night. He had no idea that he was oversleeping.
With his blinds closed, he couldn't feel the rays of the sun on his body. He would have continued sleeping if it hadn't been for a car honking its horn loudly outside the building.
"What the heck? Why would someone be honking their horn in the middle of the night?" Baily walked over and opened his blinds. He covered his eyes quickly as the bright sunlight landed on his face.
"Ah, sunlight? It's morning? Why didn't my alarm go off?" He picked up his watch off his desk and blinked a few times. "The battery ran out? Then what time is it?!"
Grabbing his phone, he turned it on and his heart sank. His test started fifteen minutes ago! He rushed to get ready and drove to the university as fast as possible.
By the time he arrived, forty-five minutes had passed. He tried to get into the classroom and discovered the door was locked tight. He knocked on the door trying to get the professor's attention.
The professor looked up and saw Baily. He shot the young man a look. Baily knocked on the door again. This time, the professor pointed at him to go.
Baily slumped down against the wall. He couldn't believe it. The professor wouldn't let him in to do the test. He was pretty sure he wouldn't get a chance to make up the test.
"My grades are going to fall! I'll never be approved for any more degree classes. I'll never get my doctorate now," Baily bemoaned. He started crying into his hands.
At Hawkmoth's lair, he smiled. "Ah, nothing like the feeling of someone having their soul crushed. This time, I know my plans will succeed. Fly away my little akuma and evilize him!"
The akuma flew past signs, over roofs, then zigzagged through the trees. At last, it reached the campus and waited for the door to the building to open. When the next student went through, the akuma slipped inside and soon found its target.
Sinking into the watch the connection was established. Baily's head shot up and he looked straight ahead.
"Alarmmer, I am Hawkmoth. It's not fair for you to suffer educational failure for circumstances beyond your control. I can give you the power to alter any person's biological clock as you see fit."
"The only thing I ask for in return is Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculouses. Do we have a deal?"
"Consider them yours, Hawkmoth." Purple and black smoke covered his body. When it vanished, Alarmmer stood up in his new form.
He wore a long sleeved burnt orange shirt. He had green wrist gloves with two glowing alarms on them. Skintight green jeans covered his legs. Running down the sides of the jeans were small burnt orange alarm lights.
His sneakers followed the same color scheme as his gloves. The light-up section of the shoes would switch from green to orange rapidly. His face was covered with a green ski mask with a burnt orange light on top of his head.
"Time to warn my teacher about what happens when you mess with me." Alarmmer kicked down the door and strode into the classroom.
He ignored the shrikes from his classmates. Many of them tried to get to the far corner of the room.
Standing in front of the professor, Alarmmer was pleased to see the man cowering in fear "Hello, professor. Is now a good time for me to take the test? Are you going to lock me out again?"
"Thhh…the rules clearly outline to take a test you must be on time. No exceptions," the man replied shakenly.
A loud piercing alarm filled the room. It had come from the Akuma's shoe when he stomped it on the floor. "No exceptions? That's unacceptable. After all, no one can control random circumstances."
He leaned in and growled. "Are you saying it's my fault that the battery to my watch died in the middle of the night?"
"Yes! I mean no! What I'm trying to say is…"
"Save it, professor! I believe it's your turn to suffer from a failed watch alarm." Alarmmer crossed his wrists together.
The high-pitched alarms started going off. People covered their ears.
The alarm continued blaring for several seconds. Finally, it stopped and the Akuma backed away from the professor's desk.
Jalil's jaw dropped. The professor had aged by decades. He looked to be almost ninety. His skin was paper thin and his hair was pure white. The man sank into his chair, unable to stand because of his geriatric bones.
Alarmmer slapped his hands together in delight. The alarm on his head started flashing as he turned to face his classmates. "Since none of you did anything to make sure I got to the test on time, you'll suffer too."
The young adults screamed. They all tried to push or pull their way out of the classroom only for the ringing of the alarms to fill the room. This time he used both his wrist and shoe alarms.
Jalil, who had ducked under a desk, watched as his classmates grew younger by the second. By the time the alarms stopped ringing they were all kindergartners.
Alarmmer came up the steps inspecting his victims. "You little kids are cute. Now, line up against the wall!" he barked.
Frightened, the kids did as he asked. Once they were all lined up the Akuma counted them before using their shoelaces to tie them up. "There that's everyone except for Jalil."
"Oh, Jalil! I know you're in here somewhere. Come out now and I won't have to turn you into an old geezer."
Jalil knew he was about to be caught. He quickly called Alix and turned the volume way down. Hiding the device behind his backpack, he stood up to face his friend.
"Hello, Baily."
"My name is Alarmmer! You should be trembling in fear, my friend. After all, you let me down."
"That's not true. I tried to text you. I didn't get a response," Jalil replied. taking a step back.
"Oh yeah? Where's your proof? I don't see your phone on you."
"I must have dropped it somewhere. If you let me look for it I could…"
"Enough talking! It's time your biological clock started ringing!"
At the heroes' school, Ms. Bustier's class heard the loud ringing through the phone. A few students covered their ears while others looked at the phone in horror.
When the ringing stopped, they listened to the Akuma saying something. "I assure you Hawkmoth a hostage will help in defeating Ladybug and Chat Noir."
The Akuma walked away from the phone and they heard no more. Alix was visibly shaking. Her brother was a hostage! "Ms. Bustier, I need to go! My brother needs me."
Ms. Bustier protested. "You'll get hurt, Alix. I know you're feeling helpless, but there is nothing you can do. Even with the Akuma at another campus, I don't feel comfortable teaching you in the classroom."
"We're going to move to the shelter and continue class there. Everyone up and follow me."
Ms. Bustier led the class down the stairs and headed for the shelters. Marinette and Adrien were wondering how they were going to slip away to handle the Akuma.
Alix took the matter out of their hands. She was the third to last student. As Alix approached the door, she sprang at it. Ms. Bustier was caught off guard as she slipped down a few steps as Alix slammed it shut.
"Alix! What is the meaning of this? Alix open this door right now!"
Ignoring her, Alix looked at Marinette and Adrien. "Don't follow me! I don't care how dangerous it is. I'm going to go rescue my brother." The small teenager took off running before they could protest.
Marinette sprinted to the door and tried to open it. The handle wouldn't turn. "Ms. Bustier, can you hear me?" she called through the door.
"Yes, I can! Open the door, Marinette!"
"I'm trying, but it's jammed!"
Ms. Bustier tried to open the door from her side. It wouldn't budge. She asked Kim to try and that didn't work either. The door was jammed too tight.
She instructed Marinette and Adrien to get the custodian, hoping he could un-jam the door.
The couple did get the custodian and then ran out of the school. About two minutes later, Ladybug was swinging away to get the Rabbit Miraculous. Chat Noir headed towards the university.
As Ladybug made her way to get Alix's Miraculous, she felt someone following her after a few minutes. There would be only one person trying to follow her.
"Better take a detour," she told herself. She changed the direction of her swinging heading in the direction of the zoo instead of Master Fu's home.
If she remembered correctly, Alya had mentioned that the new quarantine building was nearly done. Landing on a rooftop, she pretended to check her yoyo's computer feature before nodding her head.
Upon arriving at her destination, she pretended to look around to make sure she was alone. Looking at the computer again, she closed the yoyo and entered the building.
Mayura was suspicious. Why would Ladybug come to the zoo? Could this be a trap?
"No, Ladybug didn't see me following her. The Guardian of the Miraculouses must have arraigned the meeting. Why else would she consult her tool screen?"
Mayura dropped down to the ground. She cautiously entered the building. She saw a few areas that construction workers needed to finish up. She caught sight of something red entering a room down the hall.
"I've got you, Ladybug. Nowhere to hide," Mayura smirked. She strode down the corridor and entered the room.
The room was lined with cages and plastic dividers. Seeing nothing, Mayura cautiously made her way down the row of cages.
Through one divider, she could make out something red. Drawing out her fan, she leaped in front of the cage to attack. Only to see the red was a large ribbon stretched across the interior.
Mayura got shoved into the cage. The door securely locked behind her. She twisted around and saw Ladybug smiling at her. "Enjoy being quarantined for the next thirty days, Mayura!"
The peacock villainess slammed her arms against the cage and growled as she watched the spotted heroine dash off. Hawkmoth wasn't going to be happy about this.
When Ladybug finally arrived with Alix's Miraculous, she noticed that Chat Noir had hung the girl midway up the side of the administration's building. "Why is Alix hung up there?"
"You're feline captured me and put me in time out!" Alix shouted as she squirmed to get free.
"I told you to wait until Ladybug got here. Not to try to rush past me and into the building so you could pummel the Akuma with your bare fists!"
Alix rolled her eyes and held still as she was lowered to the ground. She was about to make a snarky comment only to stop and remember her review notes. The ones about her attitude.
She took the box and reunited with Fluff. "It is time to save the day again? Oh, are we rescuing a kit?" the innocent kwami asked.
"Nah, just my annoying older brother. Ready? Fluff Clockwise!" The rush of magic felt great to Alix as she transformed into Bunnyx. Stretching the tube on her back, she poured some of the metamorphic gel into her hands.
A few seconds later, she had shaped it into a shield. "I'm ready to kick some butt."
The trio ran across the campus. Getting closer to the building where Bunnyx brother had his classes, the walkways became congested.
Some people looked very ancient, almost on death door, shuffling slowly away. Little kids were crying. The preteens were aloof to the heroes when they asked for information about the Akuma's movements.
The top row of windows shattered as a super loud wailing noise filled the air. The heroes slapped their hands over their ears as the civilians shrieked in pain.
Alarmmer jumped from the top floor and landed a few feet from the heroes. He took a step towards them only to be blocked by the civilians trying to get away. "MOVE!"
All the alarms on his body blinked rapidly. The alarm on the top of his head rose a few feet and let out the highest wailing sound known to man. In the blink of an eye, all the civilians were gone leaving the heroes behind.
"What did you do to everyone?" Chat Noir growled. His belt tail whipped around angrily.
"I sped up their motors so they would get out of here. They're probably a few blocks from here. Probably struggling to walk now. Ha, ha, ha!"
"You think it's funny messing with a person's biological clock? I'll show you the true power of time!" Bunnyx snapped.
She rushed Alarmmer keeping the shield in front of her. Chat Noir launched himself in the air from the left.
Ladybug attacked from the right, sending out her yoyo. It wrapped around a trashcan and whipped it at Alarmmer.
Alarmmer grabbed it in mid-flight, did a half twist, and sent it towards Chat Noir, knocking him out of the air.
He kicked Bunnyx back with enough force that her metamorphic gel shield collapsed. Jumping to her feet, she went after Alarmmer again, this time with her fists.
The Akuma chuckled loudly. He adjusted a pack on his back so that it hung in front of his chest. They all saw a six-month-old baby inside.
Bunnyx screeched to a halt. Ladybug and Chat Noir stared in disbelief. They knew from the phone call that the Akuma had a hostage, but they didn't think it was a baby!
The giggling baby tried to stand up only to fall back down to the bottom of the pack. "I told Hawkmoth a hostage would be useful. Baby Jalil is the perfect hostage."
Bunnyx looked ready to hop all over Alarmmer's body when Ladybug called out to her. "Don't do something rash Bunnyx! We need to approach this carefully."
"What other options do you have? Give up your Miraculouses now or I'll turn Jalil clock back to the point of non-existence!"
"You're bluffing! If you did that then you wouldn't have a hostage," Bunnyx reasoned. She took one step back to retrieve her metamorphic gel.
That exact second, Alarmmer crossed his arms and started directing the alarm sounds at Bunnyx.
The heroine felt the sound vibrating through her body. She heard bones cracking and her hair getting longer. She was getting heavier.
The alarms stopped abruptly. Chat Noir had tossed his split baton at Alarmmer, forcing the Akuma to move. Catching his weapon, he moved in to attack with Ladybug covering him.
Bunnyx stood up and nearly tripped. She was much taller now. The weight she had felt was actually her cup size growing. Her hair was now past her shoulder blades.
She carefully picked up a piece of glass and looked at herself. She had to be in her late twenties or early thirties now. It was astonishing how beautiful she was.
"Wait, if I'm an adult, does that mean I can use my powers more than once?" She heard the sound of her teammates yelling. She ran back and scooped up her weapon gel.
Fashioning it into a fishing pole, she rejoined the fight. Alarmmer's powers had scored hits on Ladybug and Chat Noir. Ladybug looked at about eight years old. Chat looked in his fifties.
Their new ages were causing some difficulties as they tried to adapt to their new sizes and motor skills.
"Watch out, My Lady!" Chat Noir called out in his old man voice. The hero was trying to move fast enough to prevent Alarmmer from grabbing Ladybug's little arm. He discovered his speed was greatly reduced.
Bunnyx cast her fishing line and it hooked on the back of the Akuma's shirt collar. She reeled him in slightly giving Ladybug the chance to duck out of reach.
Alarmmer wrenched free and used his alarm on baby Jalil. He shrank even more. Now he looked only three months old. "Care to give up now?"
Ladybug responded by shoving him. Due to her smaller size, he only stumbled half a step.
Chat Noir was finally able to get to Alarmmer and tried to use his claws, to tear the bag off. His reflexes were too slow and he got kicked away.
Alarmmer turned around to catch Ladybug but once again was pulled back by Bunnyx gel fishing pole. The little girl cartwheeled away trying to think of a new plan.
The Akuma aimed his alarms at baby Jalil to erase him from existence. Bunnyx heart leaped into her throat. Her voice, shouting at him to stop.
Only the bag disappeared and reappeared on Chat's back. Rexx popped out with a grim smile. "I hoped my defensive power, "Mysterious Circumstances!" would help deal with the hostage situation."
"Good job, Rexx. Now, we need to end this situation. My Lady, we need some luck right now!"
The child Ladybug had climbed up a tree and managed to jump to the second story of a nearby building. "Lucky Charm!" A pair of shoelaces fell into her hands.
She looked around and saw her two partners, the Akuma, and surprisingly, a tiny squirrel sitting in the tree below. "Of course. That's it!" She opened her yoyo and quickly typed a message.
Right after she sent it, the Akuma marched over and directed his alarms towards her. The squirrel freaked and jumped out and landed on Alarmmer's face.
"Get off my face, you stupid rodent!" Alarmmer thrashed about, trying to aim the alarms on his arms to get it off. He then discovered that his wrists were tied up behind him.
"What the? Get off!"
"Bunnyx! Chat! Now!"
Bunnyx had morphed her weapon into a staff. With her longer reach, she was able to make contact with the alarms on the right wrist. She suspected the akuma was in Baily's watch because he always wore it. "Time Port!"
The alarms glowed baby blue and then reverted to a wristwatch. She pulled back as Chat Noir used his Cataclysm to destroy it.
"NO!" Alarmmer shouted as Ladybug caught the rogue butterfly and purified it. Instantly, Baily reverted to normal.
Bunnyx undid the shoelaces and tossed them to Ladybug. "Miraculous Ladybug!" The ladybugs flew throughout the city restoring everything to normal.
It took all the self-control Bunnyx had not to rush over and hug her brother, now that he was normal again and standing next to Chat Noir.
Baily rubbed his head and blinked a few times. Then he saw the heroes surrounding him.
"I got akumatized? I should haven't got that upset over missing a test because my battery for my watch ran out."
"It's okay to get upset. I know if I missed a big test, I would have flipped too," Jalil assured his friend. "I don't know if they'll let you take the test now, but it couldn't hurt to ask."
Baily nodded. He thanked the heroes who quickly left. Ladybug and Chat Noir went the opposite of Bunnyx because they needed to recharge.
Alix waited for them in a small park. "It was nice to see you again, Fluff."
"That's the great thing about being the Kwami of Time, I can see whoever I want whenever I want. You're doing your ancestors proud, Alix. I'm honored you are one of my wielders."
Alix and Fluff high-fived before the kwami returned to her Miraculous. Ladybug came back and took the Miraculous telling Alix to get back to school. Hopefully, she could do the same thing after she checked something.
It was nearly eleven at night when Marinette arrived at Master Fu's. He was waiting for her in the kitchen. Ning was asleep in her room as she had to catch a flight back to New York at seven thirty.
"Mayura was gone by the time I got back. The cage door had been sliced in half. I suspect that Hawkmoth rescued her after Alarmmer failed."
"That was my conclusion as well. I strongly believe because of Mayura's failures; he'll go back to his regular stomping grounds," Master Fu informed her.
Marinette understood his reasoning. These long-distance attacks were taking a lot out of Mayura, whose main job was to track the heroes in an attempt to find the Guardian.
She didn't know what the relationship between Mayura and Hawkmoth was. One thing was clear.
Both were loyal to each other. It seemed that neither would leave the other one behind.
"Adrien and I have managed to get ahead in most of our classes. Thanks to the Academic Circle's assistance, I think Adrien and I can manage to keep our grades up while being heroes."
Master Fu hummed happily. He had already returned the circle to dormancy. He was glad for their help in helping the duo manage their schoolwork easier.
Marinette glanced down the hall where the bedrooms were. "Has Ning fully recovered?" She had seen what the UN agents looked like after the spiritual purge. It was a miracle she was alive.
"No, but she is well enough to return to duty. Her superiors already have a new mission for her. She's excited about getting back to her job."
"After what she went through, I think she needs a sense of normalcy. I don't know why, but I have a strong feeling big changes are coming our way."
"I have the same feeling Marinette. I can only hope we're prepared for it."
