I own nothing you may recognize
The Following Saturday
"Welcome class to your first flying and physical fitness class, I am Madam Hooch and I will be teaching your class," A woman with short gray hair said once both the Gryffindor's and Ravenclaws all arrived in the field.
"Greetings professor," The class all said.
"Now today we will start with the basics, will everyone stand beside a broom and holding your hand above it, firmly say the word UP," Madam Hooch said.
"Up," Was heard from various students, with various reactions some, such as Hadrian, having their broom come to their hand immediately, while others brooms came more slowly or not at all.
"Hey look at the squib, his broom isn't even moving," Ron Weasley said mockingly about a slightly chubbier boy.
"A squib huh, I didn't think they were allowed at Hogwarts," Hadrian said confused.
"They aren't, but Longbottom's grandmother paid extra for him to come here," Ron said mockingly.
"Somehow I find that doubtful, since Lord Black says that Regent Longbottom is one of the most just and honest people he knows, besides from what Susan Bones has told me, is that she thinks, Neville will be the Newt Scamander of Herbology," Hadrian said loud enough that the other boy could hear.
"Enough chatter, if anyone has not been able to get their broom into their hands, go ahead and pick it up, since today we will not be actually flying, only going over proper handling of the broom. Next week however we will do a brief review of the material today, before working on some basic physical exercises," Madam Hooch said firmly.
"Stupid bint, not letting us fly, in a flying class, I'll show her," Ron said under his breath before mounting his broom.
"Mr. Weasley, what in Merlin's name are you doing, come down here now!" Madam Hooch said loudly, as he started to lose control of his broom.
"AAAHH!" Ron screamed as he lost complete control of his broom and it started making its way to hit the castle, so he let go, causing him to start falling instead, upon landing broke his wrist.
"I suppose class is dismissed, since I need to help Mr. Weasley here to the hospital wing, after I put away all the brooms," Madam Hooch said after looking at his wrist.
"Awe man," A dark skinned boy wearing Gryffindor colors said.
"I'm sorry Mr. Thomas, but perhaps your housemate won't go against instructions next time, oh and 10 points from Gryffindor, and Mr. Weasley, you will be having detention with Mr. Filch next Saturday and Sunday, now come along," Madam Hooch said after collecting all of the brooms and locking them up, and then leading Ron away.
"Mr. Potter, did you really mean what you said, earlier?" Neville said cautiously as he walked over to where Hadrian stood.
"Oh, about what Susan said, in regards to you being the Newt Scamander of Herbology?" Hadrian asked curiously.
"Yeah, did you really mean that?" Neville asked his face falling.
"Well, I mean I have never seen you in herbology, but Susan doesn't seem to be the kind to just brag about people undeserving of it. Besides from the Herbology text we have access to, they mention some plants that are dangerous, but all it says is avoid at all cost, so I figure no one has done much research on them," Hadrian said kindly.
"Yeah, that's true, but that was the same with magical creatures before Newt, and even now with Magical Races," Neville said sadly.
"Wait, what? They haven't done research on our fellow magical races, what kind of idiots run this world, maybe that's what I'll do, I'll do research on sentient races, and you can help me stay safe by not dying to the plants near their home," Hadrian said firmly.
"Wait, you would want my help, but like Ron said, I'm just a squib," Neville said softly.
"I doubt that seriously, Mr. Longbottom, I mean your parents were both very strong magically, even so far as to defy the dark lord three times. But then there was… Mr. Longbottom, did your grandmother ever have you tested to see if any magic draining spells were cast on you in the early days of November 81?" Hadrian asked after a few moments pause.
"I'm not sure, and please it's Neville, Mr. Longbottom is my father," Neville said confused by the question.
"Hadrian please, I would send her or your grandfather, the bigoted bastard, a letter to see one way or the other, because of the events of those days. Actually, I wouldn't write your grandfather, since Lord Black claims he went off the deep end shortly after he sentenced his son to Azkaban for putting his sister, and brother-in-law, well you know," Hadrian said trailing off.
"Oh, yeah, he doesn't like me much, says I remind him too much of my father, and not enough of my mother," Neville said sadly.
"I'm sorry to hear that. Well since we apparently have free period now, could we go down to the 1st year greenhouses and could you help explain the Herbology assignment to me, I am frankly confused," Hadrian asked kindly.
"Oh, yeah sure, I can do that," Neville said with a smile before they headed to the greenhouse.
