Hello everyone.

I'm back!

It has taken me forever to continue writing. Between work and some family that came to visit I had no time at all. Then, when I finally got some time, I just couldn't write. I'm sooo stuck. I've even written some chapter for the future, but I just can't continue. So, if you have any suggestions or prompts, they're more than welcome.

Anyway, I decided to post this, hopefully, I'll get inspired soon and will be able to continue.

I hope you enjoy.

DISCLAIMER: Sadly, I don't own any of the Suits characters. I sooo wish I owned Harvey Specter.

CHAPTER 7

Mike left. Well, he didn't leave, he was taken! Harvey always knew about the possibility of Child Services getting involved but he never actually thought that they would take Mike away. Surely, they had much worse cases to take care of, right? Mike was well, he was being taken care of. He went to school, he ate all of his meals, he had a roof over his head and a warm bed at night and he was happy or as happy as he could be given his current situation. He loved going to the office and helping Harvey or whomever was available with whatever he was allowed to do. He was learning a lot. Harvey even thought about the possibility of getting him some sort of internship there in a few years, once he was at least in high school. He was pretty sure Jessica wouldn't say no, because although she might deny it, she was in awe of the kid and his mind.

But now he was gone and if he didn't act quick, all his plans for Mike would go down the drain. And for him to act quick, he needed to stop staring at the door and start taking action. "We need to get to the office" he told Donna, already getting his keys and coat.

"Harvey" she said, trying to catch up to him. "You need to think things through. I think you should take some time, really think about your next course of action."

"My next course of action is getting Mike back. There's no way I will allow him to sleep at some stranger's place when he has a perfectly good bed in here."

"And how are you planning on doing that? This is Child Protective Services, is not an easy institution to fight."

"It may not be, but something is going on. It just doesn't make sense. Mike was fine and with Edith being in the hospital, me as her lawyer am responsible to represent her name. Them taking him away is not right."

As heartbroken as Donna was, she knew that Harvey wouldn't take even a second to calm down so grabbing her own coat and purse, she followed him outside the building to Pearson Hardman.

The drive there was quiet. Harvey lost in his own thoughts and Donna not daring to interrupt them. She knew he was in a terrible place. The last few months had been… overwhelming. Harvey had always been a very private and kind of selfish person but having Mike to care for had changed him. He was calmer and more relaxed and there was something in his eyes, something Donna had not seen since the first years they met, when Harvey's dad was alive. She had never pictured him as a dad but now she was sure that that is what he needed in his life.

"Louis" Harvey barged into Louis's office, "I need all of your best associates."

"What? Why? Harvey, you can't just come and ask for the associates. They're busy"

"It's not for me, It's for Mike. Child services took him."

"What!" he shouted, standing up from his desk. "How could you allowed that to happen?"

"I didn't allow anything" he angrily said, "his grandmother is ill and she's his only living relative. They were sniffing around even before the accident. So, I'll say this one more time, I need all of the best associates" he repeated.

"Consider it done. Tell me what I can do to help" Although Mike usually ran from Louis, they were getting to this kind of weird relationship were Louis will try to befriend him and try-out his magnificent brain, Mike would say no and the Louis would try to bribe him. He was the only reason the coffee room was now full of candy, pop tarts and all kinds of child-friendly snacks. Also, he was the reason every Friday, Louis would order a pizza, making sure the delivery guy walked outside Harvey's office before bringing it to him quickly followed by a very hungry teen.

"We need to build a case. We need to know if there's precedent and if there is, I want all that there is to know. Also, I want all the information on the person in charge of his case. They were already trying to take him away, there is no way this is just because of Edith."

So, they got to work. Even Jessica joined at some point because when you mess with a member of Pearson Hardman, you mess with the whole firm and Mike was definitely part of it.

Mike cried. That's all he did all the way to the foster home he was being taken to. He could hear Joanna talking to him or talking on the phone, he actually didn't know but she was saying something about a family with more kids and about some boys his own age.

It seemed like they've been driving forever when finally, they arrived at a small house in the suburbs. Even though he didn't want to, he followed Joanna out of the car and up the porch stairs. Before she could knock, a middle-aged woman opened the door holding a baby on her hip. "You must be Michael" she greeted. She looked tired, as if the life had been sucked out of her. Mike could hear children inside.

When Mike didn't answer, Joanna did for him "Yes, this is Mike. Mike, this is Susan, she will be your foster mom from now on". He was so scared he could only manage a weak "Hello".

They didn't waste much time on small talk or greetings, they went inside and sat down on a worn-out couch in a very big living room. The house looked much bigger on the inside than on the outside and apparently, it held more children inside than what he had thought.

As soon as they sat down, Joanna gave Susan some papers to sign and then she was on her way, not even bothering to look back. Not caring that she had just changed a boy's life and not in a good way.

So, it was then just Mike and Susan and baby Sofia who was falling asleep on her arms. Susan explained that there were currently six children living there, one baby and one toddler. There were 5 boys and 3 girls. Mike would share a room with three of the older boys. She also told him the rules of the house, which where a lot. Basic stuff like no lying, no fighting, sharing, no backtalking, no shouting, no running, asking for permission before going out, doing all of his homework after school, among others. But there were also the consequences, which Mike thought were extreme. They started from grounding to going to bed without dinner to an actual belting.

"Do you understand what I just told you?" Susan asked. Even though Mike was not planning on getting into any sort of trouble, he was terrified to break any of the rules. Without finding any words, he just nodded his head. "That's another rule Michael, you always give verbal answers, you have to make sure that I hear what you're saying".

"Yes, ma'am, I understand the rules and consequences" he said, doing his best not no start crying all over again in front of her. He didn't know what the consequences for that would be and he wasn't about to find out.

"Good," she continued, "so, breakfast is at 7:00, you need to be ready for school by then. Everyone leaves for school at 7:30, you need to be at the front door with the rest of the kids at 2:00pm to come back. Lunch is after school, then homework and chores. Dinner is at 7:00pm, then showers for everyone, and bed at 8:30. We'll accommodate you in the shower schedule later today and give you your list of chores. If you finish your homework and chores before dinner, you may go outside for a while but you need to be back by dinner, otherwise, you won't get any. Saturdays and Sundays are visitation days. Some of the kids have families and they go with them. You will be coming with the rest to church with us. Be nice and maybe one of the families from church will take you out for lunch."

"We can have visitors?" Mike asked, eyes full of hope.

"If you have family and they are authorized by social services, yes. But, as far as I know, you don't have anyone or that's what Joanna said".

"But I do! I have my grammy and Harvey."

"Your documents say your grandmother is in the hospital and as for, Harvey, is it? He's not mentioned, so I'm not allowed to let you see him or go with him".

Mike couldn't help the disappointment that came over him. How Could they not allow Harvey to visit him? He may not be family by blood, but he had been taking care of him for a while, he surely cared as much as any family member would. Deciding not to insist further on the subject and better tell Harvey about it when he texted him, he followed Sussan to his new room.
