Part 8

"Dad, Barry is going to come around and talk to me again. I mean it has been six years since that loser Caitlin Snow left him." Said Iris

"Iris, you need to let it go. Barry is not going to come around as you call it. He was deeply in love with Caitlin and I think still is. He wanted to marry her."

"Please dad Barry is too good for that loser."

"Iris what did that young woman ever do to you to make you hate her so much?"

"She is the bitch that turned Cassie in for cheating on her math test in sixth grade."

"So you hate Caitlin for doing the right thing."

"Because of Cassie being turned in by that bitch her parents called off the ski trip I was going to go on with her."

"A ski trip I had already told you, you couldn't go on because of your bad grades."

"Whatever."

Iris turned to leave when she spotted Caitlin walking across the room with Eddie.

"What is she doing back here? I was positive that she would never come back here ever."

"You will leave Caitlin Snow alone or I will get a restraining order myself to keep you away. You already hurt that young woman more than enough."

"Dad! You can't do that!"

"Yes I can. Now stay away from that woman do I make myself clear?"

"Yeah whatever."

Iris stormed out of the police station. Joe watched his daughter go knowing that she was going to be causing trouble. He smiled as he watched Caitlin approach with Eddie.

"Caitlin it is good to see you again." Said Joe

"Nice to see you Detective West." Said Caitlin

"Eddie and Barry filled me in a bit about what happened with that ex of yours."

"Yeah well too bad you weren't a cop in Hub City. Then maybe Richard wouldn't have gotten away with this."

"If you could have gotten in touch with his Captain he wouldn't have. My Captain is the brother of his Captain."

"Really?"

"Yes. Captain David Singh has called his brother Steven who is looking into it. Caitlin if it turns out that Richard Carson used his rank to stop the reports from being filed he will be in a lot of trouble."

"I am not holding my breath. I left because I couldn't risk my daughter's safety any more."

"I met your daughter. She is beautiful."

"Yeah she is. I am just glad she is getting a chance to get to know her dad and grandparents."

"Caitlin, I am sorry for what Iris did to you."

"I never blamed you. Iris is the only one to blame for her actions. I ran because of my own insecurities. After my dad died my brother was the only one that I could trust for a long time. Iris played on that."

"That is still no excuse. I didn't raise her to act like she did. I want you to know if Iris does anything to you and it is a crime I will arrest her myself."

Caitlin nodded.

"Caitlin, are you ok?" asked Eddie

"Yeah. I am just not use to having the cops on my side." Said Caitlin

"Well get use to it. Now we need you to sign this release so that we can get a copy of your medical records to use as evidence. Some how I don't think that broken arm of yours was the result of a normal fall." Said Joe

Caitlin let her mind drift back to when her arm was broken.

Richard came at her with a hockey stick in his hands. He was drunk and angry. Crystal had spilled grape juice on his new white dress shirt. He had wanted to punish Crystal by beating her. But Caitlin stopped him. So he came at her. She put her arm up to protect her face. He swung the stick at her. Pain shot threw her arm as she hear the bone crack.

Caitlin snapped out of the memory when Joe called her name.

"Caitlin are you ok?" asked Joe

"Um yeah. You are right Richard hit me with a hockey stick." Said Caitlin

"Caitlin you shouldn't have let him getaway with it." Said Eddie

"The police came to the hospital. He made them go away."

Joe and Eddie exchanged a look. They knew that this was going to be an up hill battle to protect Caitlin and her daughter.

Barry pulled out the file Patty needed from his desk and handed it to her.

"Thanks Barry. How is Caitlin doing?" asked Patty

"Ok I guess. She is downstairs right now talking to Joe and Eddie. Turns out the guy she was with is a cop in Hub City and used his rank to make the domestic abuse reports go away."

"That is horrible."

"Yeah. But good news is that our Captain Singh's brother is this creeps captain and going to look in to things."

"Well that is good. Barry, maybe we can set up a play date for the kids."

"That would be nice. I will talk to Cait about it."

"Let her know that she isn't alone."

"I will though I think she is beginning to realize it."

"Good."

"I will see you later Patty. Cait should be just about done talking with Joe and Eddie."

"See you Barry."

Barry headed down the stairs and could see Caitlin saying goodbye to both Eddie and Joe. He waited for her just outside of the desk area of the squad room.

"Everything taken care of?" asked Barry

"Yeah. They are going to forward the release form for my medical records at Hub City Memorial Hospital to Captain Singh's brother. Which will prove that my arm was broken by being hit with a hockey stick as well as a few other injuries I was treated for in the past six months." Said Caitlin

"That is good. How about we pick up some ice cream to take home?"

"Sounds good. Crystal loves chocolate chip cookie dough. Just like her daddy."

"You favor cookies n cream if I remember right."

"You remember right."

"First let's get you some lunch."

"Still always hungry."

"Of course."

Caitlin smiled as they walked out of CCPD neither noticing that they were being watched.
