Chapter 8
"Wake up Hazel" a voice beside my head said. "Five more minutes" I replied rolling over "and besides, when is it day down here in Tenteum where it's always dark?". "Fair point" the voice chuckled. A few minutes later, I already got dressed and headed down stairs. On the table was a package, Jess was busy cooking in the kitchen with Zero helping. "Don't you dare spill the soup over me again!" Zero was yelling at Jess, "Well you've never been bothered by swimming in blood have ya?" she shot back. "I like bathing in my enemies blood, but SOUP, no way it's coming close. What are you doin? NO! Get that spoon away from me." Zero then promptly just ran out of the house. "Huh, who knew soup was a blade deterrent?" I said sitting down. A door to my right opened. "Good morning ladies," Avalon yawned and stretched his arms "and Hazel, you should open the package." he grabbed it and tossed it to me. Curious about what it was, I opened it and gasped. They were clothes. I took them out and they were exactly the kind I liked. The shirt was a simple white, with some red lines going around it with some gold patterned leaves, and the pants that went along with them simple black jeans made of some material I have never seen. "I noticed since the last battle your clothes were ripped, so I decided to make new ones for you." Avalon said. I stared at him "You made this? Dang when did you learn weaving?" "Three thousand years of seeing clothes of all eras you're bound to pick something up" I didn't listen to his explanation since I went to the bathroom to change. The clothes fitted me perfectly, which was surprising, the fabric of the clothes were incredibly light and easy to move in despite looking tight. I walked out and Jess immediately eyed me and went "Woah, you look good," she turned to Avalon "Next time I outgrow your clothes I'm calling you." He shrugged it off "Weaving to make clothes was relatively easy, getting the materials was not.". "Hey Avalon, what are the straps for?" I asked "Ah yes the straps, I designed these clothes for combat and everyday use, armour pieces can be tied using the straps. Anyway we should be heading to the main city, it's almost noon.".
Soon we were outside the gates and the chief was there to see us off. "How will we get to the city? Walking?" I asked. "No, that would take at least a day, you will be taking our horses, that way you will have time to rest in the city first.". "Alright, thank you chief Accol for helping us!"' we waved as our horses moved fast across the terrain. They looked different from regular horses, being all black with some purple patterns and bright white eyes and they seemed to know where we wanted to go, jumping over the dark rivers and hills while I was trying not to fall off my horse. About four hours later we arrived at the main city. I was impressed, the city was an actual city full of shops, traders and industrial machines. As we walked towards the docks, people stopped talking and whispered to one another"It's them!" and "The ones who killed the Agrious tribe!" and my all time favorite "They're women?!". Eventually we reached the dock, "Three tickets to Viomichania please" I said to the clerk. "Very well, the nearest inn is just over there, since the next ship to Viomachina will be tomorrow.". We walked towards the inn to put our stuff, locked the door and went exploring the city. It was definitely different than the village, but felt hostile. Eyes would look at us suspiciously as we passed, people had either swords or knives in their hands as they talked. Strange is the word I would use. We came across a restaurant, which Jess squealed. Me and Avalon were taken aback, this was surprisingly out of character for her. "Cmon lets go get my favorite treats!" she pulled us inside and ordered about ten of what she called Tenteum style grilled fish, or in her words, fish sticks. They were surprisingly good, and we went to order about thirty of them before we got too full to eat anymore. "I don't think I can eat dinner tonight" I groaned. "You wanna go get a drink?" Jess asked while somehow not puking as she went around cart-wheeling. "I don't think I ca-" I began before I was cut off by Jess "Aw c'mon you're actually 19 I can see it in your eyes, so why'd you lie to Silverius huh?" "I'll go to the bar if you drop that question," I said.
And when we went to the bar, me and Avalon discovered that Jess could drink a lot like a LOT and somehow not get drunk. Me on the other hand, went only three glasses before the world started spinning. Part of Jess's plan of course, was getting me drunk to do something stupid of course. Avalon just sat next to me smiling as he took little sips of what Jess called "old man beer" to which he complained "It tastes good though!". Sure enough, two more drinks later, I blacked out.
I woke up in the morning to see Jess and Avalon sitting near my bed. I got up with a groan and felt I had a headache "Damn you Jess, now I've got a hangover.". They both turned around and gave me the most shit-eating grin ever. "Oh god what did I do last night.". Avalon gave me an even bigger grin "Well as you became even more drunk you challenged Jess to a fistfight with the consequence of when you lost, you'd have to do what she says and if she lost, she'd have to challenge the whole bar." "Did I lose?" "Badly, she let you take the first hit and you tried to punch her hard but you missed and hit your head on the counter, knocked yourself out you could say.". "Oh Hazell!" Jess's voice came singing up the stairs. "Dammit what am I going to have to do?". She came through the door with a pink frilly dress and gave me the most malicious smile ever. "There is no way I'm wearing that!" I yelled. "Aw c'mon, you'll look good in it!" she complained. "Fine, but know this, I'm gonna rock this dress better than you ever will!" Then we all went to go to our ship, I was embarrassed beyond belief. Finally the day ended and I got to take it off. "Thank god it's over" I said as I jumped onto my bed aboard the ship. "This is the captain speaking" a voice on the speakers said " we will be arriving in Viomachnia about nine hours from now, you may take a rest in our rooms".
Somewhere…
"My king! We have received news about the Aegis and the lady being sighted aboard a ship heading here!"
"Very well, send the Lieutenant to watch over her.".
Aboard the Sagitarius
"So the little chum is heading towards Viomachina?" Silverius said
"Precisely" a voice replied
"Then you know what to do, now go!"
