Is Kuvira stronger than Suyin?
This will probably be an unpopular opinion but I think Kuvira is much stronger than Suyin. However there is big age difference so it is not objective. But there are no doubts that Kuvira is metalbending master and earthbending prodigy. She is a perfectionist. She was leader of Earth Epmire and she defeated Suyin easily. Even Korra had troubles to win over her... So I definitely think she is stronger than Suyin.
Are there no other ways to have save s*x in this universe?
I did some research and Legend of Korra tooks place probably in 1920's or 1930' and the only way to have a safe s*x in that time was to use condoms. However problem of Baatar and Kuvira is that they are still keeping their relationship private. Especially now when Kuvira is a candidate for position of captain. They didn't want it to seem like Kuvira became captain because she is dating a Beifong. That they favorized her over other candidates because of it. So Baatar couldn't go to pharmacy to buy some condoms without anyone being suspicious. Zaofu is city without secrets as Aiwei once said. So they are using their method of only sleeping together during "safe days". It will cause them problems really soon...

Zaofu, 6 weeks later
It was already February and spring was slowly coming to Zaofu. There wasn't that much snow anymore and little snowdrops started to grow from the ground. Birds were coming back from warmer areas and their singing filled the whole town. Rebirth of nature was visible everywhere...
It was six weeks since Kuvira found out she could became a captain and was preparing regularly with Baatar's help. They were meeting twice a week in his laboratory and it was great opportunity to have some alone time for themselve as well... Even though Baatar's family knew that he was helping Kuvira with studying... they had no idea there was something more between them.
They decided to keep their relationship private for few more months because if Kuvira would became a captain they didn't want it to seem like she got that position because of Baatar. That she got promoted because Beifongs favoured her over other candidates...
Baatar was really satisfied with Kuvira's progress in mathematics and physics. She had excelent memory and learnt really quickly. Today was the last day before her exam and they decided to have one more lesson...
Flashback, 6 weeks earlier, Guard's Residence
Kuvira sat on the couch in her apartment and held application documents in her hands. She was still in her armor and was full of joy. It's been probably half an hour since the guards meeting ended but she still had to think about what happened there… Being offered to be a captain was such an honor.
Becoming a captain would be amazing... It was always Kuvira's dream to lead soldiers of the Metal Clan. She wanted to share this news with someone immediately but she didn't have friends really... and her biological parents... left her like she meant nothing to them. She was now sad. The memory of her real parents just ruined her joy...
Kuvira sighed and stood up. She put the documents on the table and looked out of the window. The domes were already closed so she could only see another buildings... It was late and most of the lights were turn off.
Kuvira couldn't wait to tell Baatar about the news but she didn't know if he won't have to travel to Yu Dao because of his project. She thought about it for a while and then she got an idea. Kuvira will tell Baatar about it today.
Kuvira put on her winter coat and sneaked out from Guard's Residence. She still had her uniform so nobody was suspicious about her going there. Kuvira rushed to Beifongs Residence and was hiding everytime she saw other guards.
Kuvira secretly sneaked to Beifongs' garden and to Baatar's balcony. She had to be really carefull because nobody could see her there... Kuvira got up to there with her metal cables and carefully landed on the balcony. She saw that one chair was laying on the floor so she picked it up. "What happened here?" Kuvira thought for herself and saw that lights in Baatar's room were off...
Baatar was still angry because of the meeting with engineers and investors. He wondered if he will ever get some respect from them... or if he will always be known just as Baatar Junior with lack of experience... The bridge in Yu Dao Valley could be his big project but they didn't even gave him a chance…
He had a cold shower and instead of sleeping he decided to start with searching the best location for the new bridge. Baatar took on his dark green sleeping shorts and turned on a small lamp next to his drawing board. When he was studying maps of Yu Dao Valley... he heard knocking...
Baatar stood up and went to open the door but nobody was there. He closed it and was confused. He went back to the drawing board when he heard the knocking again... but it was coming from different direction. The balcony...
Baatar walked towards balcony door and opened it slowly... "Kuvira? What are you doing here?" Baatar was surprised but happy to see her at the same time... She was standing on his balcony in middle of the night. "Come inside. It's really cold out there."
Kuvira entered his room with smile on her face. But she could see that something is wrong with Baatar... He was tense and had wrinkles on his forhead. He was always having them when something was wrong.
"I need to tell you something. I didn't know if you would travel to Yu Dao tomorrow so I wanted to talk to you now." Kuvira said and Baatar helped her to take off her warm coat.
"I won't be going to Yu Dao..." Baatar replied and took her hands to his. It was really cold..."Your hands are so cold. Let's have some hot tea." Baatar suggested and Kuvira agreed.
She took off her armor and was only wearing her uniform. "So... what did you want to tell me?" Baatar asked with smile on his face.
"Baatar... you won't believe it." Kuvira said with big smile. Baatar lift his eyebrows curiously and couldn't wait to hear more. "They offered me the position of captain!"
"Really?That's amazing Kuvira!" he said with big smile on his face and his mood got better immediatelly. Baatar pick Kuvira up and spinned around with her. Kuvira smiled at him and kissed him lovingly. Then they embraced tightly. Baatar knew it was Kuvira's dream and was really happy for her. "I am so proud of you." he said and put his hands on her cheeks. He kissed her forhead and Kuvira wrapped her arms around him tightly.
"Thank you so much." Kuvira said lovingly and was happy to share her joy with him. "But they have one condition... I can only be a captain if I will pass the test from mathematics and physics with better score than other candidates." Kuvira said sadly.
"Don't worry." Baatar smiled and carresed her cheek. "I can help you with studying and I am sure you will make a great captain." he said and Kuvira kissed him softly. "Thank you so much." Kuvira replied lovingly. "I don't know what I would do without you..." she said softly.
They went to Baatar's bedroom and were sitting on his bed with cups of tea in their hands. Baatar took of his glasses and put them on the night table. His eyes were tired after studying maps all evening.
They were talking for a while about their day and Kuvira saw that something was still bothering Baatar..."How went your meeting with engineers today?" Kuvira asked curiously.
Baatar sighed and told Kuvira everything about the meeting...
"So they accepted your idea but didn't trust you enough to realize it?" Kuvira was now angry. She knew that Baatar would do amazing job if he'd got an opportunity.
"Yeah..." Baatar replied and put his teacup on the night table. "I am getting used to it...They say I am too young..."
Kuvira put away her teacup too and was angry that other engineers discriminate Baatar because of his age. How could he gain some experience when they don't even let him to have his own projects. Kuvira sighed and climbed closer to Baatar. "One day... You will show them you are better inventor than all of them together. I know that..." she said and hugged him tightly.
Baatar felt her warm lips on his neck and gently carresed her black hair. "Thank you... I love you Kuvira." he said and looked into her eyes. She smiled at him and they kissed lovingly. "And actually... there is one big advantage..."Baatar said and Kuvira looked at him curiously. "When I don't need to travel to Yu Dao... I can spend more time with you."
Kuvira smiled at him and said: "I love you Baatar." she leaned her head on his shoulder and kissed his cheek. They sat on the bed in quiet and enjoyed each other's company. It was long day for both of them.
End of flashback
Zaofu, 6 weeks later, Guard's Residence
Today was the last day before Kuvira's exam and she was really nervous. She wanted to became captain so badly but knew that other candidates prepared as well. Last few days were really stressful for her but she keeped her emotions locked inside as always. She didn't want anyone to see her insecure.
Kuvira was in her apartment and was getting ready to today's dance practise. She was packing her bag with training shoes and her casual dress because she was meeting Baatar immediately after training. They should revise everything before her exam…
It was already 2 p.m. andKuvira knew that it was time to go to the gym. She took on her winter coat and locked the apartment. When she left Guard's Residence the sun was shining and snow in the city center was melting everywhere. She could hear water drops falling from the roofs and snow on the ground turned into pools.
Kuvira was always on time so she was the first one in the gym. She took off her coat and bag and put it on the bench in the corner. Today… they should start with the new choreography for summer performance and Kuvira use her spare time to stretch before dancing...
After a while she heard somebody enter the gym. Kuvira turned at the door and saw Theo's wife Sisa with her daughter Mia. "Hello Kuvira." Sisa said in a friendly voice and Mia did the same.
"Hello." Kuvira replied with smile on her face. "You came to look at us?" she walked closer to them and little Mia ran to hug her. Mia really liked Kuvira's long braid and she always wanted to play with her long hair. "Hi Mia" Kuvira told her.
"Yeah. We wanted to pay a visit to all dancers before this little one is born." Sisa said with smile and gently caressed her big baby bumb. Normaly... Sisa is a dancer as well but she decided to stop dancing untill her second baby is born. Her husband Theo was still talking about becoming a dad for the second time.
Kuvira smiled at her and saw Mia running closer to her mother. She lovingly hugged her around her waist and said: "I will be a big sister." Mia was proud.
"I am sure you will be the best sister in the world." Kuvira said and was really happy for Theo's family. They always treated her nicely and Kuvira liked to spend time with them. Sisa and Mia were walking closer to the bench so they could sit there but Sisa suddenly stopped and sighed with pain."Sisa? Are you alright?" Kuvira asked with concerns.
"Yeah... the baby is just kicking." Sisa said and put her hand on her stomach. Kuvira felt relief that Sisa was okay and watched how happy Sisa was when she felt her baby moving.
Sisa saw that Kuvira is watching her and went closer to her. "Kuvira? Do you want to feel the baby kicks?" Sisa asked with smile and Kuvira was surprised. She never felt it and was nervous if it is not too personal... But she was curious at the same time.
"I don't know... Are you sure you don't mind it?" Kuvira asked nervously.
"Of course I don't mind it." Sisa said. "Come here." she added. Sisa took Kuvira's hand and gently put it on her stomach...after few seconds Kuvira felt strong kick against her hand.
"Wow." Kuvira said. It was so strong, beautiful and scary at the same time. Kuvira smiled and was still amazed. "That's so nice and scary at the same time."
"Yes it is." Sisa said. "But trust me it's one of the best feelings in the world..." Sisa gave Kuvira a smile and left her speechless. The topic of family was always painfull for Kuvira... Her parents left her when she was little and Kuvira thought about how her own mother felt when she was carrying her... Did her mother hate her already during pregnancy...? Kuvira didn't know... and didn't even want to think about her mother.
"I am sure you will feel it with your own children one day..." Sisa added. Kuvira froze on the place... Her own children... She imagined herself as a mother and wave of fear rushed trough her body... Her being mother just didn't feel right. Kuvira was scared she would make terrible mother and never really think about becoming one...Baatar on the other hand... he would be great father. Kuvira knew that...but they were both too young to even think about that...
Kuvira gave Sisa a nervous smile and was glad that other dancers started entering the gym. Kuvira turned around and went to the center of the dance floor...her hands were shaking... This conversation was really painfull for Kuvira and she didn't want anyone to see her without her tough shell...
Other dancers and Suyin were joyfully talking with Sisa and after a while the dance practise started. Dancing always made Kuvira relaxed and she cleared her mind during that. Their new dance performance was really complicated and advanced. They will be using metalbending and it required full concentration...
The practise lasted for two hours and Kuvira couldn't wait to her meeting with Baatar. But she felt insecure because it was the last day before big exam... It will decide about her future life...
Beifongs's Residence, Zaofu
It was already 4 p.m. and Baatar was standing in front of the drawing board in his laboratory. His new project was focused on magnetic railway and high speed trains... It was really complicated technology and it required hundreads of calculations...but Baatar felt that this time... it will be his own big invention...
He looked at the clocks and saw that Kuvira should come in every minute. He really enjoyed spending time with her in his laboratory because he was alone there most of the time. He was amazed how good student Kuvira was. She really wanted to be a captain and was studying hard for it. Baatar was very proud of her...he smiled for himself when memory of Kuvira focusing on mathematic problems came to his mind... She had little wrinkle between her eyes when she was concentrated and Baatar really loved it...
Today was the last day before exams and Baatar prepared a final test for Kuvira. He walked closer to his working table and prepared the place for Kuvira to sit there. He took a pen from his pocket and put it next to the paper with equations.
After a while... he heard someone knocking on the door. "Come in." he said and looked on the door. His pupils became wide when he saw Kuvira entering his laboratory in beautiful dark green dress...
"Hello Baatar." Kuvira said with smile and went closer to him. She wore typical Zaofu long dress with large sleeves which were showing her beautiful hourglass figure and her chest was decorated with big metal necklace.
"Hello Kuvira." Baatar replied and they embraced. "Wow. You look beautiful." he said and gently caressed her cheek.
Kuvira looked into his eyes and smiled softly. "Thank you Baatar." she said. It wasn't so common for Kuvira to wear clothes like this... Most of the time she was in her uniform or training clothes. But today... she was just Kuvira. No guard, no dancer... it was just her...
"Nervous?" Baatar asked and disturbed Kuvira in her deep thoughts...
"Maybe a little..." Kuvira admitted. She knew that she could show her true emotions in front of Baatar... He would always cheer her up.
"Don't be. I know you are ready." Baatar replied and went closer to his table. "Today I prepared a test for you... It will be similar to one you will write tomorrow..." he added and saw Kuvira coming closer to him.
"How much time do I have?" Kuvira asked and sat on Baatar's chair. It was really funny to sit there because Kuvira's feet could barely reach the floor. Baatar always made fun of it. He was really tall so his chair was higher than others.
"One hour." Baatar said and was standing behind her. He kneeled down and took the test from one drawer. Then he put it in front of Kuvira.
"Baatar?" Kuvira asked and Baatar looked at her. "Why do guards have to take this test? I always thought you only have to be a good fighter and leader for position of captain?" she added curiously.
Baatar thought about it for a few seconds and then said: "You know... being a captain isn't just about strenght... Captains have a big responsibility of Zaofu technologies as well. You should know when it is safe for airships to leave the platforms and if the cargo isn't too heavy, when to close the domes before a storm and if the weight of guards can be carried by a metal cables without demaging them and many more... Not mentioning the administrative which captain has to do... "Baatar added and Kuvira nodded. She knew that she won't like the administrative part...
"So? Can we start?" Baatar asked and Kuvira agreed. He put the paper with test on the table in front of her and said: "Good luck captain." Kuvira smiled in reaction and put a kiss on Baatar's cheek. Then she started writing...
Baatar stood up and went back to his drawing board where his railway plans were. He didn't want to disturb Kuvira so she could fully focuse on the test.
Kuvira was trying her best. However these word problems were really complicated. She was amazed how Baatar could do this everyday... he was really smart... and Kuvira always liked that.
After half an hour Baatar decided to call it a day and put papers with his calculations and plans to another drawer. He was looking at Kuvira with smile. She was really concentrated and Baatar spend five minutes by just looking at how beautiful she was. He hoped Kuvira won't catch him spying on her.
The time was running fast and after a while it was already one hour. Kuvira gave Baatar her test and nervously waited for his verdict. Baatar was sitting in his chair and Kuvira stood next to the table. She tried to read Baatar's face expression but it was so neutral she couldn't see anything...
After five minutes... Baatar finally started to speak. "Kuvira..." he stood up and still had his cold face expression. Kuvira was worried... She surely didn't get any points...she sighed and looked down on the floor.
Baatar took her hands to his and out of nowhere kissed her softly. "Congratulation." he said with smile.
"What?" Kuvira asked. She thought she totally messed it up...
"You have 50 points out of 50. I think I can officialy call you captain now..." Baatar said with huge smile and Kuvira's eyes started to shine.
"Wait are you serious?" she asked in disbelieve. Baatar nodded and Kuvira wrapped her arms thightly around him. Baatar did the same and they shared a loving hug. Then they kissed softly and were both very happy. Baatar loved to see Kuvira smile like that.
"I bet that this time tomorrow... you will be a new captain." Baatar said with smile and kissed Kuvira's forhead.
"I wish you were right." Kuvira replied with soft smile and hugged Baatar even thightly than before... "Thank you so much for helping me." she whispered to his ear and felt Baatar's warm lips on her neck. She moaned quietly in reaction.
"I would do everything for you..." he replied quietly and continued in kissing Kuvira's neck. He always loved her lotus parfume… She smiled and her hands traveled to Baatar's hair. It's been so long since they were together this way... During last six weeks they mainly focused on studying and work... but now... they could finally have some time only for themselves...
Kuvira leaned on Baatar's working table and saw hunger in his eyes. She smiled at him and Baatar wrapped his arms around her back and pulled her to a kiss... Kuvira wrapped her arms around Baatar's neck and felt his hands traveling her back. Their breathing got faster and their kisses were more and more passionate. After a while Baatar placed his hands on Kuvira's hips. He lift her up and put her on the table so she was now sitting on it. Kuvira smiled at him and Baatar gave her mischievous smile in return. After many hungry kisses he started to pull the skirt of her dress up.
"Baatar..." Kuvira said between passionate kisses. She felt his hands caressing her thighs and loud moan came out of her... "Somebody could come in and see us." she said with concerns and Baatar looked into her eyes.
"They would knock on the door first..." Baatar replied and continued in kissing Kuvira's neck... She leaned her head back so Baatar could kiss her easily. He always drove her crazy with his warm lips…
Kuvira was really enjoying it and wanted to continue but when Baatar started to pull down her underwear she had to stop him. Kuvira took Baatar's hands to hers and he looked into her eyes with confusion.
"I am sorry Baatar... I really want it but... it's not safe today..." Kuvira said sadly and rested her head on Baatar's shoulder. "We will have to wait few more days." she added and Baatar realized what he'd done. Kuvira was in the middle of her menstrual cycle and it was really risky to be intimite now...
"I am so sorry..." Baatar said and there was guilt in his voice. "Sorry…I've got carried away..." he was angry at himself because he totally forgot it.
"It's okay." Kuvira said in calming voice and they hugged lovingly. "I can't wait to be with you like this again..." Kuvira whispered and Baatar gave her mischievous smile.
"It looks like I will be sleeping with a captain of Zaofu guards next time." Baatar said with a silly face and Kuvira laughed loudly. "What's so funny?" Baatar tried to sound seriously but Kuvira knew it takes him lot of energy to not laugh.
"You know there are three other candidates who can became a captain as well?" Kuvira asked while still laughing. Baatar pretended to be shocked about that but couldn't hold it anymore and he started to laugh as well.
"They are candidates but there will be only one captain..." Baatar said in a loving voice and look into her beautiful green eyes. He put a strand of Kuvira's hair behind her ear. "and I know you will be the one." he added and put a soft kiss on her lips.
Kuvira smiled at him and kissed him once more... Baatar then helped Kuvira down from the table and went to search for a paisho game. " We can practise strategy as well." he said with smile and Kuvira agreed. She watched him preparing the game and smiled. At that point... she knew she was ready to show the best of her tomorrow... because she had someone who was believing in her... and it was Baatar...
