Abigail Shepard

She sat in the cargo compartment of the vehicle they had borrowed from the Terra Nova PD, local cops had already set up a cordoned off perimeter but for the rest of them they had to their job to do and they were on point given the circumstances. Abigail felt nervous, it had been awhile...

The airvan settled on the ground and the door swung open. She deployed her Raptor in her hand and came rushing forward along with Donald while Danielle and Edward fanned out on their flanks watching the rooftops.

It was a daylight op, they didn't have much choice when the FIS put enough information to figure out the building the Batarians were using for a safe house, time was of the utmost importance as they had to move if they had any chance of securing the hostages and figuring out where the terrorists went in the event they had already picked up sticks and managed to get them and their charges off world?

She didn't know, all they had to do was figure it out and hope for the best as the entire squad converged on the building's main entrance. Abigail noted that Civilians were watching them curiously.

The only thing that she felt certain of that it felt good to be back in her Onyx armor again, with the proud N7 sigil adorning her chest. She was nervous about failing, but it did feel like a home coming.

She flattened herself to the left of the door frame, Donald was on the right, Danielle and Edward fanned out just in front of it, Anderson just behind them, and Foley brought up the rear covering the back with his sniper out.

Donald and her locked eyes, he held up two fingers, she nodded. He brought one down, then the next as he transferred his weight into the manual operating door and smashed it open. Abigail and him poured in a rush, she cleared left, he going right, before Edward and Danielle poured in ahead of them with Anderson and Cameron bringing up the rear.

"What the-" A clerk behind a welcome desk snapped before looking up.

The Valkyrie held a quieting hand up to her finger and he stiffened, before nodding in understanding.

Ronnie then entered the room and showed the man his ID.

"I understand," he half whispered.

With that out of the way Donald finally confirmed what they already knew, "clear."

"Clear," Abby agreed.

The rest of the squad nodded their own confirmations.

"OK, where is the target apartment?" Anderson asked.

Danielle replied bringing up her omni, "Two floors up, number three two seven, it'll be on the right, about forty five meters down the hall."

Anderson nodded, "alright, lead on team."

Abigail and Donald led the way. They decided to make their way over to the stairwell and not the lifts which could get them there. Lifts were death traps after all, perfect places to set up counter ambushes.

Donald and the Valkyrie moved up first, their assault rifles pointing as they cleared the area with military precision. They started hitting the stairs, Cameron held it with his sniper rifle out making sure to cover them as they moved up. Abigail and Donald led, their weapons craning around, eyes scanning. Edward and Danielle followed, he with shotgun, she with pistol. Then last in the long train was Anderson and Ronnie, Anderson out with Lancer and Ronnie with her standard issue side arm.

On the second floor landing the Valkyrie held the bottom of the floor as she gestured the rest of the team forward and they held, the team snaking their way through past her. Cameron tapped her on the shoulder, she nodded, then took off in pursuit.

At the third floor landing the team regrouped again, no signs of hostiles which Abby was treating as good news.

"Alright lets move on Montgomery, Bounding over watch, fifteen meter spread, on my mark, three...two...one. Execute, execute, execute."

On Anderson's final call Abigail and Edward took the lead with their eyes pressed against their sights as they moved forward as one. When they got to fifteen meters they crouched down in the hall way, waiting.

The other members of the squad crossed their position as they waited. Before too much longer Anderson and Danielle assumed the next objective, holding their position.

The only one which seemed slow on the uptake was Ronnie herself.

Abigail swept with her assault rifle behind them as Edward glanced front, before they both moved out, and stacked on the door.

Anderson held up three fingers, then two, then one. The three of them burst through with their weapons out, a lone Batarian was over by a side table and he dove for a weapon. Shepard's assault rifle sputtered to life and Edward's shotgun boomed out.

"Clear." She said with a look around.

"Clear." Edward murmured his agreement.

"Alright people, spread out, look for everything and anything which can point to where these people have gone...since they are clearly not here." Anderson sighed.

"I think I will go interview some of the guests and staff," Ronnie offered with a similar glum tone.

"Shepard, go with her." Anderson nodded.

She nodded, then held out her hand.

"Where to first?" Abby asked.

Ronnie sighed. "The hotel manager."

They went back to the first floor of the hotel and the manager was already there waiting for them.

"What is this I hear about gun shots in my top floor?" He started without even waiting for their credentials. "I do not remember you serving a warrant or announcing your presence."

"Ronnie Price," she flashed her badge, as if by habit, and then grunted, "as far as it is concerned your hotel was used as a base by Batarian terrorists...you will be properly compensated for any damages but you cannot say that you didn't notice. This cell would've had to have been full of multiple Batarians...who aren't exactly on Terra Nova."

He shrugged, "I do not tend to butt into affairs that are not my concern...unlike you Alliance types."

Abigail couldn't help but smirk and snort at the thought, I think I like this guy.

Ronnie seemed to hear her vocalization and turned towards her with an unamused look, though the hotel manager also glanced over at Shepard.

Ronnie glared back at the manager, "come on, you have to know something. Don't hide something which could be vital to our national security...the security of our species. You could have been aiding and abetting a foreign terrorist organization which was involved in kidnapping Alliance citizens...dammit your fellow humans!"

The manager sighed. "Look, I don't know anything. If what you say is true I will help with whatever I can...but believe me that room wasn't even set up by a Batarian, this is the first I am hearing about their involvement is here. The room was set up by a local and they said they would only be a couple of days."

Ronnie sighed, "Alright, we'll send someone there later to interview you and more of your guests. You may not be out of trouble."

He nodded, his bearing meek as Ronnie gestured Abigail over.

"Do you believe him?" Ronnie asked. "Honestly?"

Abby considered it, knowing what she was really asking, and she had to judge things without bias. "He has no real reason to lie." She decided. "He may not be thorough as he should have but..." she sighed. "and it should be easy to double check."

Ronnie snorted, "I'm sure you-"

Anderson's voice crackled over the com, "Shepard come in, we have found a datapad. The Batarian was going to higher a ship to take them to the Terminus Systems, away from here."

"Do we know where?" Shepard asked into the intercom.

"Danielle worked it out, its a space station called Omega."
