Chapter 8: The arena
after the ship landed, peacekeepers led us to the room, and Katniss and I walked inside and the door closed. Katniss and I wore black t-shirts and black leggings. when Katniss and I saw Cinna we walked up to him and we hugged him.
"Here" Cinna said after we hugged. Cinna grabbed a black and orange jacket and gave it to Katniss and Cinna grabbed the jacket and gave it to me. I put the jacket on. Katniss and I then noticed our mocking jay pins on our shirt. We gasped in shock.
"Shh" Cinna said as he put a finger on his lips. "Thank you" Katniss said. "Yeah, thank you" I said. Cinna then zipped up our jackets. "Thirty seconds" A voice said. I sighed. I guess we have to go to the arena soon. my parents told me,
that they would hide somewhere in the arena where I can meet up with them. my whole body was shaking with fear, so was Katniss's body. Cinna put his hands on our,
shoulders. "I know I am not allowed to bet, but if I could bet, I would bet on you girls" Cinna said. Cinna then gave us both kisses on our cheeks. I hugged Cinna again and,
he put his forehead on our foreheads. "Twenty seconds" The voice said. My body was shaking more as Katniss and I were looking at our tubes we would be put inside.
we had two separate tubes and each of us would be getting into one of them. Katniss and I then walked slowly to our tubes. "Ten seconds" the voice said. Katniss and I then,
stepped in our tubes. when we got inside the doors closed and the platforms we stood on begin rising up. we kept going as bright sunlight shone in our eyes. we stopped,
moving and I was on my podium next to Katniss. I looked at her nervously. "Stay close to me" Katniss said. I nodded. I looked around and saw the other tributes in their,
podiums, getting ready to go. I looked and saw that weapons and supplies were ahead of us. I saw my weapons, my lasso, my sword, and my shield, that were laying down.
I gasped. I asked them if they could put my weapons in the games and they said yes but there is no guarantee that I will get them. The countdown began. Katniss and I,
got ready. "50, 49, 48, 47, 46, 45, 44, 43, 42, 41, 40, 39, 38, 37, 36, 35, 34, 33, 32, 31, 30, 29, 28, 27, 26, 25, 24, 23, 22, 21" the numbers kept counting down. My body was shaking as the numbers kept counting down. the numbers continued to count down.
"7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1" when the numbers reached number 1, we all sprinted for the supplies. when I got to the supplies I saw people were killing other people for stuff. I cringed as I watched people being stabbed but I have to stay focused.
I found my sword, my shield, and my lasso and I quickly grabbed my weapons. I placed the sword and my shield behind my back I then put the lasso on my waist. I quickly grabbed one of the big backpacks for supplies. I met up with Katniss and we ran away from the,
place and we ran into the woods. when we ran into the woods we ran into a girl. we fell to the ground. "Please don't hurt us" I said when we got up. she said nothing and she,
just stared at us. I guess she is letting us go. Katniss and I then continued running. as we were running, Katniss and I tumbled down a steep hill. "Ahh!" I cried. when we got to,
ground level, Katniss helped me up and we kept running. as we got deep into the woods, I saw no one was following us. "Katniss...can we take a break? No one is behind us"
I said. "Yeah, there is a place we can sit over there for a minute" Katniss said. "okay" I said. Katniss and I sat down on a tree stump. "Let's see what's in our bags" I said.
we then got our bags out and we each pulled out some rope, a water bottle but it was empty, a sleeping bag, cords, we even had some matches. as we were looking at our,
supplies, I heard a loud boom sound. "Katniss, what was that?" I said. "It means someone is dead" Katniss said. "Lana, can you hear me?" A voice said. "Ah!" I said as I,
covered my ears. "Who the hell is talking to me?" I said. "Calm down Lana, it's us, team RWBY and team JNPR talking to you" Ruby said. "Mommy? How are you talking to me?
you're not even near me" I said. "We were able to slip in an earpiece in your ear before you went into the arena so we can talk to you" Yang said. "Well, where are you guys?" I said confused. "We're somewhere in the arena, where are you?" Weiss said.
"I'm in the woods with Katniss" I said. "Try to stay where you are, we will come to you" Ruby said. "Okay" I said. "Were you able to get your weapons?" Ren said. "Yeah dad, I was able to. we also got some supplies. Katniss and I both did"
I said. "Okay good. only use the supplies when absolutely necessary. did Katniss get a weapon also?" Ren said. "Did you get a weapon?" I said to Katniss. She shook her head. "No, she did not" I said. "Okay, listen Lana, just stay where you are we will come to you" Ren said.
"Okay" I said. "If someone comes and attacks then don't hesitate to fight back" Blake said. "Don't forget you can use your semblance to" Yang said. "Alright. can I use my,
semblance to find you guys?" I said. "No, just stay put" Blake said. "Were on our way" Ruby said. I sighed. "Okay, girl on fire, out" I said. I sighed when I finished talking.
"What did they say?" Katniss said. "They said just stay put" I said. "Okay" Katniss said. "Well we should get moving" Katniss said. "But my parents told me to stay put"
I said. "But they won't know we moved" Katniss said with a wink. "Ah, okay" I said. we then started walking into the woods. as we were walking we stopped by a lake and,
drank some water and we filled up our water bottles. Katniss then sharpened some sticks and got a fire started and cooked some food that she found. Katniss and I looked,
around for a second but we continued cooking our food. after we finished eating our food, we put out the fire. after a while, Katniss and I found a tall tree. "We should sleep,
up high tonight" Katniss said. "Okay, I'll take the first watch" I said. Katniss shook her head. "No, get some rest. you need it" Katniss said. "Okay" I said. I saw Katniss,
climbing the tree. I used my flying semblance to fly up to the highest branch. Katniss was in shock as I sat down on the branch. "How did you do that?" Katniss said.
"It's my semblance. I can fly" I said. She smiled. "Like a mocking jay" Katniss said. I smiled. Katniss used the branch below me and she sat down too. I used the rope that I got from my bag and I tied myself to the tree so I did not fall off. Katniss did the same and tied herself to the tree too.
I closed my eyes and drifted off into a deep sleep.
