Oscar looked out over Atlas city from the balcony he was stood on. The cold winds bit at his skin and ruffled his clothes, but that hardly concerned him. Because the Atlas itself was something the farmboy couldn't believe was real. Buildings were coated in sparkling silver, with a blue hue encased around the entire metropolis. He knew he was at the highest and the centre point of the city (here at Atlas academy). So he could look down at the streets below. From behind the hue of the city and past the circular communication lines and airships whizzing by, he could see the distant never-ending tundra and mountains that rivalled the height of the floating urban wonder.
He breathed in deeply, trying to take it all in. As this was a far cry from his former home.
"Hey."
Ruby Rose slowly crept out onto the balcony; her silver eyes widened at the sight of the city.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Oscar asked of her as she pulled her hood up.
"Freezing, though," she stated. "How long have you been out here?"
"A while."
The two stood in silence for a short while longer; Oscar had managed to calm himself down out here. But he felt as if he had nothing to say to Ruby. He'd meant everything he'd said back there.
"I'm sorry about earlier," the girl eventually muttered. "You never spoke about your aunt. So...we just assumed you were okay being with us."
"I was," Oscar admitted, tearing his eyes from the city and facing her. "But Ironwood's done more for me in 2 days than you have in a year."
Ruby sighed.
"That's not fair, Oscar," she said. "We couldn't have set up communication like Ironwood..."
"Ruby, that's not the point!" Oscar snapped. "When we learnt the truth about Ozpin. It felt like you all got annoyed with me! and not him! And Qrow punched me and the way Jaune acted; it was wrong!"
"They didn't mean anything towards you!" Ruby yelled. "It was against Oz; they were angry. Surely you understand that?"
"I understand that. But have any of you apologised for it. Properly?"
Ruby gulped.
"Did it never cross any of your minds, how I felt about being dragged along on this...adventure!?" Oscar spat. "I didn't ask for Ozpin to come into my head! I didn't ask for any of this, but I convinced myself that I was fine with it because you were all there to look out for me."
"So... just because Ironwood treated you a little better, you're turning your backs on us!?" Ruby exclaimed, getting annoyed herself now.
"Ruby. I know he's a good man." Oscar said simply. "Please, tell him the truth."
Ruby sighed.
"Oscar, I know he's a good man," she said, her anger fading.
"I remember when we were at Beacon, and there was this dance going on. I was being the dork and socially awkward as usual," she laughed there before continuing on. "But then I noticed something suspicious. I didn't realise it at the time, but it was Cinder up to no good. I followed her up the communications tower. But I wasn't alone. Someone else was keeping watch while everyone else, even Oz, was having fun at the dance."
"Ironwood," Oscar said.
"Yep," Ruby replied with a smile. "I keep thinking about that for some reason. Even when Beacon fell, he offered us huntsman and huntress the option to leave and said they wouldn't be judged for it."
"Ruby, you know it yourself; that's the man he is," Oscar said.
"But after all I've heard and seen!" Ruby exclaimed. "How do I know he hasn't changed? I'm sorry, Oscar, I can't trust him fully yet. I just can't."
Oscar sighed.
"I'm not asking you to trust him fully," he said. "But please, tell him the truth. We can't take the moral high ground while we lie about something this serious."
"Can't you tell him!?" Ruby whined.
"Ruby, you lied to him in the first place!" Oscar was now yelling again. "How will it look if I decide to betray the group and tell him? I'm closer to him than any of you; he'll think you're all against him. But if it comes from you and if you explain yourself clearly..."
"He'll hate us anyway!"
"He might resent you, but the longer you keep this up, the worse it's gonna get," Oscar muttered.
"I can't go against the rest of the group; we had a vote Oscar," Ruby said. "Besides, Yang, Blake, Jaune and Nora, they all make good points."
"And are Ren and Weiss on board with this?"
"Well, they seem more doubtful," Ruby admitted. "And Uncle Qrow doesn't seem to care. He's just following our lead, and If I'm having doubts..."
"Then technically, that's four on four," Oscar said. "Me, you, Weiss and Ren and maybe even your Uncle Qrow. So maybe more of us want to tell Ironwood than you realise."
Ruby was silent now, realising that could have been a genuine possibility.
"No matter what I do, someone's gonna be upset," Ruby said. "I wanted to be a good leader Oscar. How I can do that, if I end up telling Ironwood, it will just end up causing fights and disagreements."
"What happened to the Ruby who told everyone what to do on the train. Or got us out of Brunswick farms!" Oscar snapped. "Even if stealing the airship was stupid, you took up the role of leader. Now we're here; you lied to Ironwood, and you're letting everyone else do all the talking!"
"I guess..." Ruby mumbled, looking down at the city, "I guess it just came naturally to me before. I don't know what's wrong with me now."
"Ruby," Oscar said. "I know it's scary, but we all screw up sometimes. We become better by owning up to our mistakes."
He sighed there.
"I'll apologise to Jaune," he said. "It was wrong to hit him, but I meant every word I said."
"Oscar," Ruby muttered, "I'm trying to do what I think is right and trying to keep everyone on the same page," she explained. "But I know whatever choice I make, people are going to hate me."
"Well," Oscar said. "Ironwood said it himself, as a leader. It's a price he's willing to pay. It's something you have to be prepared to do as well."
Ruby eyes found the ground.
"I'll see what I can do," she mumbled. "Give me a few days, Oscar, and I promise; I'll discuss this with the group."
Oscar sighed; it wasn't the perfect solution he wanted. But it was the best he was going to get.
"That was a truly, wicked and despicable thing you did that poor boy Winter!" Fria snapped harshly at her successor ", And I loved every moment of it. Please tell me again."
Winter laughed; she'd grown to like the old woman's wicked sense of humour.
"I did feel bad," she admitted. "But I know for certain they're guilty of it now. I just have to make them confess the truth to the General. Before he's up and out again." she said.
"But you've made the first move." Fria reminded her. "He's suspicious of you now for sure. And he's likely told the rest of the group as well. So they'll be on guard."
"I wasn't really planning on strolling up to them and interrogating them," Winter muttered. "As tempting as it is, we all have our jobs to do. And if I force them to confess, James isn't going to like that. He'll probably think I've forced them to confess something false."
Fria nodded.
"Well observed," she muttered. "But you've made the first move. You can't stop there and just hope they'll grow a spine and tell Ironwood."
"But it's possible that the boy will."
"Possible, not certain," Fria said. "Nevertheless, there's a way to trick people into revealing the truth."
"How?"
"Pull up your scroll, Winter and go through the old training tapes of mine," Fria instructed. "They'll be one labelled Mantos Mullberry."
"Mantos Mullberry!?"
"Yes, just click on it when you find it," Fria said, as Winter scrolled her finger downwards, going through the hundreds of names inscribed there. As she did that, Fria reached for a cup of water. Winter couldn't help but notice how badly her bony, wrinkled arm was shaking. The current winter maiden could lift the cup to her lips and, through great difficulty, managed to take a few sips.
"Let me put that back for you," Winter said.
"I'm shaking; it's bad, I know," Fria said. "But let me do this while I still can."
Respecting her wishes, Winter watched as the old woman put her cup back on the bedside stall. As Fria completed her task, so did Winter, finding the video file labelled Mantos Mullberry. She clicked on it as both women watched the screen.
"Winter Maiden!?" A large man with wavy, azure hair and sapphire armour bellowed at a younger Fria. In her early days, Fria's hair was a shade of golden blonde. During the recording, she levitated on the spot, surrounded by a vortex of freezing air.
"Mantos," Fria said simply. "I look forward to facing you."
"Well, it would be my pleasure M'lady!" he responded. "But I won't go easy on you. I haven't lost a battle in 3 years! And I don't intend to lose one now! Even to a maiden!"
"I accept the challenge! Care to tell me what you're semblance is?"
"That's my secret to winning!" Mantos exclaimed proudly. "I can let you know for a kiss?"
"I'll pass," Fria responded with a smile. "Now prepare for this!" Without a second to spare, she fired a beam of multicoloured energy directly towards the large huntsmen. However, rather than block it with the large mace he was lugging around, he stood still, awaiting the impact.
At the last second, however, the beam of energy disappeared.
"Not going to put up a fight?" Fria asked.
"I'm going to be a gentlemen and let you have the first strike!" he replied.
"Oh well... that sounds great..." Fria said as she slowly circled around him. Winter noticed that he turned on the spot. Making sure his front side was always facing her.
"Nervous?" Fria inquired.
"No," he responded, sweating never-the-less.
"Give it up, Mantos. I already know your semblance, and I'm not falling for your trick," Fria muttered.
"You don't know."
"Oh, but I do," she said. "Maybe If I could just get behind you..."
It happened in a flash.
Mantos charged and jumped up to reach where Fria was flying above him. His mace outstretched and ready to deliver a blow. He'd left himself wide open and exposed. It would have been easy for Fria to strike him there and then.
But that didn't happen.
Fria ducked under his leaping form and turned herself around. Firing a beam of energy that hit him straight in the back, he fell to the ground, and a few moments later, his aura shattered. The tape ended just as Fria helped the red-faced huntsmen to his feet.
"You knew his semblance!? How!?" Winter probed.
"Well, there's the trick. I didn't." Fria said with a sly smile. "I knew he was a good fighter. But he was cocky. Acting as though he wouldn't lose. So I fired at him to see how he would react, and he didn't. Which told me something without him telling me."
"What was that?"
"That his semblance required him to be hit for it to be effective," she said.
"Then I'm sure you noticed how he avoided showing his back to me. Using all the information I'd gathered. I pretended I knew his semblance by making that comment, and the first thing he did was charge at me. Hoping I'd attack, but I didn't, and the rest was history."
She was smiling there, clearly proud of herself.
"So, what was his semblance in the end?"
"Turns out if you hit him at the front, it would emit a flash that would blind you for a few seconds, and you'd be hit with the energy you'd directed towards him," Fria explained. "While you were in that state, he'd finish you off with his mace. Explained why he was able to beat so many people." Fria said. "But not me. I wasn't top of Atlas Academy back in the day for no reason. And Oz made sure the Winter Maiden power didn't just go to any meathead."
"I'm impressed," Winter muttered.
"You're no meathead," Fria said warmly. "You have some information now. Use it."
Winter nodded.
"I will," she muttered.
"Good", Fria replied.
"By the way," Winter couldn't help but ask, "How did that meathead accept his first loss in 3 years?"
"Quite well, surprisingly," Fria muttered. "Turns out he was quite the charmer after all."
"So he got that kiss?"
"He got more than a kiss, dear, believe me."
"Fria!" Winter gasped in embarrassment, turning beet red.
"What? We were partners for years. I always had to watch his back, though. Until the one time I wasn't there..." she sighed there. Her happy memory was clearly fading into something much tragic. Winter decided to intervene, hoping to recall some of Fria's more joyful memories.
"Well, Fria, what I can say? That was a truly, wicked and despicable thing you did that poor boy, And I loved every moment of it. Please let's watch that again." Winter mused.
Fria flashed her a wider smile than ever before. As Winter pressed down on the training tape once again.
"GO!"
Qrow bellowed this at the retreating Mantle citizens; flinging himself through the air, he sliced at the behemoth of a mammoth Grimm that was shaking its tusks at him. However, his well-aimed strike managed to cut the putrid thing cleanly in half. It let out a shriek of pain before disappearing into nothingness.
Not wasting a moment, he looked up to see a herd of these mammoth Grimm continued to run rampant through the hole in the wall of Mantle.
Despite the onslaught of gunfire from above, bullets ricocheted off the hard armour on these Grimm. Who continued their attack. Dead Altesian soldiers already lay mangled below their feet.
"KEEP MOVING!" Qrow exclaimed at the Mantle citizens, who were simply staring in shock. As they finally retreated to safety. Nora leapt off a roof and slammed her hammer into the ground. Concrete flew in every direction like shrapnel.
Realising this, Weiss (bouncing off her glyphs) used the dust in her rapier to freeze the shards.
"ICEWIND!" Ruby shouted. Flying past Weiss, she collected the shards in a mini vortex, a second before colliding with the horde of Grimm, she flung herself upwards. The fragments, however, were propelled forward and cut through several chunks of the Grimm's protective armour. As they wailed and either evaporated on the spot or twisted in apparent agony, leaving them wide open for the gunfire of the airships and soldiers.
Before long, it was over. The Grimm had been cleared. Qrow wiped his brow and reunited with the rest of his group.
"Icewind, really. You made that up on the spot." Weiss said to a beaming Ruby.
"I thought it was cool!" Ruby mused.
"I just wish we could have done it without destroying the street," Ren noted. With his skills, he'd used it to evacuate people nearby. Helped by Jaune amplifying the effect of his masking semblance.
Yet his statement didn't go ignored as the returning residents bemoaned and wailed louder than the Grimm at the sight of the destroyed houses and ripped up road.
"Oh, they're really not happy", Nora asked, guilt lining her face.
"We did what we could," Jaune said to reassure her.
It had been a shock to wake in the morning. Only for Harriet and Elm to inform them of a breach in the wall. And that all available huntsmen and huntress were needed at the site urgently. By the time Team RWBY and JNR had arrived, the damage was done. They were able to clear out the rest of the Grimm. But many families were going to get bad news today.
"3 citizens were killed, and 12 soldiers," Elm said sadly, walking over to the group. Holding a scroll in her hand. "The rest of the ops will be arriving shortly for clean-up. Don't look so down; you did well." The muscular woman informed them. "Although try and keep it less... theatrical next time."
"What does that mean?" Yang asked.
"It means it's fine to show off your team moves in an abandoned mine." Elm reminded them. "But this is a residential area, try and show some restraint before you go tearing up the street."
Her eyes locked on Ruby and Nora. Nora for smashing up the road and Ruby for using the environment as a weapon.
"Sorry," Ruby mumbled, her face going as red as her cape.
"You'll live and learn, Ruby, don't worry about it," Qrow reassured her. "At least we stopped the Grimm."
"15 people are still dead," Ruby muttered.
"You can't save everyone." Elm reminded her.
"No, but you could have easily saved these 15 people," came a new, snide voice.
Elm rolled her eyes, turning around; she was met with the sneering visage of Robyn Hill herself. She was carrying a box containing what looked like canned food and drinks.
"Hello, Robyn," Elm said. "I heard about your and Clover's meeting yesterday."
"Then you'll understand that if you did your jobs, this would never have happened." Robyn snapped. Before her eyes locked on the group behind Elm.
"You again?" she said. "Now you can see the direct consequences of your actions? Feel bad for not telling me yet?"
She was looking directly at Yang, who scoffed but kept quiet.
"And where is dear Ironwood today? And the rest of the ace ops?" Robyn asked.
"My team is on the way," Elm said. "And the general's been taken ill lately."
"How convenient at such a crucial time." Robyn snapped. "But while you've all been slacking off. I've been here helping the people that need it."
"Well, then get back to your job, and we'll get back to our's", Elm said.
Robyn laughed.
"You come to save us after the damage is done." she pointed out. "If it was down to me. You wouldn't even be needed here in the first place. Because this wall would be fixed."
"We need the supplies elsewhere," Elm said. That part was true, Ironwood wanted the iron, metal, bolts and other protective materials coated around Amity Arena. To protect it from the explosion that would send it into orbit. And to act as a physical shield in space, should the forcefield around it fail.
"I'm not discussing this with you again, Robyn." Elm muttered. "The people here come first. Let's save our political arguments for another time."
"Fine." Robyn snarled. "But while you're busy scraping bodies off the street. I'll be helping people the right way. The residents of Mantle are angry, Elm. They aren't going to accept Ironwood's rule for much longer."
With that, she departed; inhabitants of the street were already flocking to her and her happy huntresses. Who were handing out the rations to them. Many were asking her about what happened now? Their houses had been destroyed, the road in the street had been torn up.
"What a mess," Harriet muttered. Walking over to the group, "If the General had just kept to AK-200 units, we wouldn't have lost good soldiers here today."
"The residents and the General aren't comfortable with those units," Elm reminded her. "Espeically after Beacon."
"It's the more pratical solution," Harriet argued. "And to be honest after what happened to Tortgua, I'm finding it harder to care about what these residents think. They shouldn't live by this hole anyway."
"How could you say such a thing!?" Yang snapped. "This is their home! And if we were directing the supplies here, this wouldn't have happened!"
"I wasn't asking for your opinon," Harriet snarled back.
The tension between the two increased dramatically in those moments.
"So... who was Tortgua?" Ruby asked, trying to defuse the situation.
"It's nothing. You head on back to the airship, we'll clean up here." Elm said. After a few tense moments Harriet walked away, leaving the rest of Team RWBY, JNR and Qrow to walk on back to the awaiting airship.
"Where are these people going to live now?" Ruby asked, overhearing the concerns of the people.
"Do you honestly think Ironwood cares about that!?" Jaune snapped. "They'll just end up homeless; it doesn't matter to him."
Ruby tried to avoid their gazes. Of both her teammates and the shivering residents of Mantle.
"They'll find some shelter for them, Ruby," Qrow muttered once again. He hated seeing the defeated look on her face. "It might not be great, but it's something."
"It'll be slums, you mean?" Blake snarled.
Qrow sighed.
"Most likely," he admitted. "But it's something."
"It might as well be nothing," Jaune snarled. "Of course, I suppose that doesn't matter to the likes of you, Ironwood and Oz. Suppose you've got bigger plans to be concerned about, rather than the little folk, haven't you!?"
"I'm not looking for an argument, kid", Qrow mumbled. "But you need to calm down; you're not helping yourselves here."
"Don't tell me to calm...!" Jaune began to rant.
"Okay, things are bad; let's not argue!" Ruby interjected quickly. "We need to stick together and talk things through before we make any rash decisions."
"I just want to help people, like Robyn's doing!" Yang exclaimed. "She's right about a lot of things, and I don't feel comfortable lying to her."
"Again, you don't know her fully yet." Qrow reminded the blonde. "Give it time. Discuss it with the general if you have to. But like Ruby said, don't do anything drastic that you'll end up regretting."
Yang clearly wasn't happy with that but kept to herself.
"So, Did Oscar apologise to you?" Ruby eventually asked Jaune to try and lighten the mood.
"Yeah. It's fine now," Jaune said. "But I still don't understand how he can support Ironwood, not after all of this," he muttered, gesturing at the hole in the wall and the state of the street.
"You were putting pressure on him," Ren noted.
"And how can you support him!?" Jaune asked. "Unlike Oscar, you've seen what's going on here. What's wrong with you, Ren? Don't you feel sorry for these people?"
"I just think it's better if we work together with Ironwood to solve these issues. Not against him." Ren muttered.
"And You Weiss?"
"Listen, I'm not one-hundred per cent on either side right now," Weiss said.
"Let's not pressure each other into picking sides," Ruby said. "Let's just work on being better huntsman and huntress and try not to destroy so much next time."
"Although there are some things I'm glad to see destroyed," Blake added, her eyes locked on a piece of graffitied stop sign. Lying bent and discarded in the street. Below the bold STOP were the sprayed on words FAUNUS IN MANTLE!
"Come on, don't look at that," Yang said, leading her away.
It was a primarily silent trip back to Atlas on the airship. All minds were heavy from the devastation they'd just witnessed firsthand. Ruby felt more divided than ever, just when she was sure she'd tell Ironwood. Something like that reminded her what it might not have been such a fantastic idea.
What was the right choice to make here?
As she thought that, Qrow's scroll vibrated; he held it up to his face and looked at the message waiting for him.
"What is it?" Jaune asked, noticing this.
"The General wants to meet Ruby and me as soon as we get back to Atlas," Qrow muttered. "The rest of you can either take the day off. Or train some more in the available facilities."
While this news washed over the group, Ruby sat there with a feeling of dread creeping over her.
What did the General want to see her for?
A/N: Okay a chapter with many POV's. As for the one-time OC Mantos Mullberry, it's just the first name that popped into my head. I'm sure I've heard it before so if it relates to any other media I'm not trying to plagarize it. I just thought of the name, somehow it just fits. Also after getting tips from reviewers I decided to try and explain what supplies (metal, bolts) would be needed at Amity rather than the wall in Mantle. But tbh I don't think the writers thought that far ahead, so I just came up with what I could. Will probably try and elaborate further in a later chapter. Also wanted to show the consquences of Ironwood's actions (soldiers dying instead of robot units) and the first signs of discrimination in Mantle (granted it's only a sign, but it is a sign of things to come).
Anyway hope you enjoyed this chapter! There was a section I cut out this chapter, which had Robyn's POV, but I cut it because for one it was filler and had her complaining with her happy huntresses and two, I don't want there to be a hundred different POV's I'm trying to stick with the core characters and the Robyn part just added more that didn't need to be there, Also it made them (even from my point of view) waaaaaayyyyy to detestable so I went and removed it. Anyway a lot of reviewed last chapter! So I'll try and get round to you all!
Ramen Meister- PREACH!
Engineer1869- Yep, I was hoping someone would point out the group's basic hyprocrisy that I wrote here. "Ironwood's ignoring Mantle!" *proceeds to ignore Oscar*. In their minds after surviving Beacon, saving Haven in V5 (even though Raven did most of the work). Learning the secret in V6 and then saving Argus from the Grimm. The group has a (we were the victims and now we're the heroes because we're saving people) mentality that will get challenged in the upcoming chapters. Anyway thanks again for your reviews!
Havalt300- Welcome aboard! And thanks for reviewing, glad I was able to keep the core of the characters the same for you.
Ramen Meister- Okay for your second review, I think you may been onto something when you wrote this...
Please tell me they'll put in a situation that will put them in Ironwood's shoes to an extent, one where everyone of their decisions pretty much goes wrong.
I won't say much more on that, but gaining Ironwood's perspective on things is the key to understanding why he does what he does. And will be seen later on. However as for now I'm glad you brought up the V7 designs. With the expectation of Ruby, I generally thought all the designs got worse. Weiss' hair in particular was just a... what!? It's terrible, however there is a way I'd want you envision the cast. This is gonna sound strange but a YouTuber called Twiinns iink did a video on the Volume 7 designs, look it up and then...
Skip to 6:38 for how I imagine Weiss' costume, but with her Volume 4 hairstyle and not the rope.
Skip to 11:12 for Yang, just without the exposed leg bit... doesn't suit her in Atlas!
Also the less said about Jaune's hairstyle the better... let's just say he hasn't got that trim yet and Ren/Nora basically look the same. Anyway thanks again for leaving your thoughts!
He Who Seeks The Joys In Life- When you put it like that, it really puts it into perspective how Team RWBY's failure to work with Ironwood not only doomed Atlas but Mantle as well, as it was true Salem's target was Atlas and when the relic was gone she wouldn't target such places (e.g. Haven after the relic was taken). Also I've noticed your points about the cast and do agree. Tbh a lot of people seem fine with Jaune in canon but I'm just... not that attached to him. Granted he is better than Team RWBY, but other than that he's just... there. And then randomly brought to the forefront in big scenes (Volume 5 him vs Cinder, Volume 6, statue scene, Volume 8, killing Penny scene).
Guest- Yeah the group don't realise that by thinking they're being so self-righteous, they are acting... quite callous. Anyway thanks for reviewing!
sUbSoNiCSoundwave- Thanks for reviewing, you'll have to see if things work out this time. Let's just say I plan to keep things interesting...
Guest- I can understand your points on Qrow, but even through that he still choses to blame Ironwood which annoys me to no end. Granted he tried to stop the bomb (until it went loose, then he just stands there, hoping for good luck, like wth Qrow!? Try to physically stop it at least!)
But no, I will stand firm on my point that Robyn deserves all the blame she gets in that sceanrio. You can argue that she felt betrayed by Ironwood after just coming to trust him. But Qrow says himself "Let's speak to the general first" before Robyn gets angry and attacks Clover (who defended himself). Granted everything after that was a complete shitshow of stupid descions, but as the intial aggerssor was Robyn Hill. It was her temper that provoked them to fight so I am placing the blame on her, not all of it. But she was responsible for Tyrian's escape, in the same way Qrow and Clover were.
Guest- Yeah hard to be on their side at the moment, but who knows what will change...
AxDevilman- Yeah, tbh I completely forgot about Hazel's semblance. I knew there was some pain nullifcation in there, but I also thought he could just jack his body up with dust and go berserk. But yeah, let's say the difference between them is Hazel's is passive and Ironwood has to activate his. Anyway, I'm glad Oscar is growing on you and best of luck with your writing! Thanks again for reviewing!
Masterix- Yeah, I'm basing the main group's behaviour off certain entitled people we see in real life. Who become incredibly narrow minded and apply negatives to any group/person they don't like, so it can justify what they do or say. It's becoming a more distrubing trend and I'm hoping this fic can show how this sort of behaviour is damaging in many ways no matter how self-righteous you think you are. I am glad for your review, so thanks again!
Guest- Yep I tried to explain the wall this chapter and as for the other councillors... well let's just say I do have plans for them later on and that they'll be like typical politicans doing anything for a vote. I'll say no more on that however...
Detritus- Negative nancy glasses, I like it. But yep, that pretty much sums up the main group right now. But I'm glad you're liking how the characters are and you find Oscar's situation interesting. Granted it was as catharic to write as it was to read about. Originally I'd planned for Oscar to just walk away while the group starting bitching about Ironwood in which Ruby would find him later and he'd vent there. But there was just something so much more satsifying about him dropping the F-bomb and then leaving. Anyway glad you're liking this fic so far!
Guest- Yep, Oscar felt like he was going to be important, but sadly he just seems like another character with an interesting idea behind him, but no time to develop or grow because of 70 other characters all sharing screentime with him. Anyway thanks for your review and thoughts!
avaize- Why is the room spinning? Didn't mean for it to be comedic, but I can kinda see where your coming from with that. Ironwood can be unintentially funny despite being so serious. But yeah, Hazel Vs Ironwood would be a battle to behold! Ironwood and Ruby is a connection I'm glad got pointed out because I always saw Ironwood as a more mature, cynical version of Ruby. Espeically during the Volume 2 scene, as out of everyone at the dance, it's only these two that notice Cinder, it's why I had Ruby mention it this chapter, they are more alike then they realise. As for your final point, yep Salem can just sit back and chill. Divding humanity is one of her goal's and so far everyone's doing her job for her, anyway I like hearing from you, thanks again for reviewing!
21- Not Jaune's biggest fan either, but hopefully he and the rest of Team RWBY will be knocked off their high horse soon. By that I mean in the show, as I have plans in this fic that will hopefully satsify people and bring them down a peg or two, anyway thanks again for your thoughts!
merendinoemiliano- Yeah, might have gone slightly over the line making these characters too unlikeable. However I'm glad for your review!
SuperSaiyajin4Vegeta- Entitlement being mind-blowing, about sums up RWBY at the moment.
ReDestrobo- Yeah team RWBY and Nora/Jaune have a classic case of "Why isn't this being done!?" while having no solutions themselves. Also funny you should mention Team CRDL as I'm currently reading a fic where CRDL are doing a great deal and it still feels pretty believable! Anyway thanks for reviewing!
and finally Silverei- always good to hear from you thanks for reviewing!
Okay, that's everyone. Holy crap this A/N took a while to write but I'm happy so many of you reviewed and liked the fic! Anyway until next chapter!
