Chapter 8 : Baby
Orlando Hospital
" Baby ? " Petey asked looking at the note .
" Bobby ? " Storm asked .
" There ' s a baby , our baby , " Bobby said almost in disbelief as he sat down in one of the chairs before he fell down instead .
" Did you know that she was pregnant ? " Daniels asked .
" No , I had no clue , " Bobby said .
" Why would they just give , Autumn , back to us ? " Andrew asked .
" Those people are giving Autumn back after all of the trouble they went through to take her ? " Bret said as the rest of them walked into the waiting room .
" Here , I need a minute , " Bobby handing the note to Bret before taking a moment to think as D ' Amore looked at him .
" There ' s a baby ? " D ' Amore asked as Bret , Sting , and Angle looked at Bobby .
" I didn ' t know anything about a baby until this note , " Bobby said .
" When will we get that call to get , Autumn ? " Jackie asked .
" I don ' t know that either , " Bobby hoping that Autumn and their baby would be okay .
" Everything will be okay , brother , " Storm said as Jarrett ' s phone rang .
" Really , okay , we will get her , " Jeff said making them look at him .
" How did they get your number ? " Eric asked .
" From when I had to go and get Andrew . " Jarrett said .
" Where is she ? " Bobby asked .
" Orlando Mall , " Jarrett said .
" Storm , Daniels , come on , " AJ said .
" What about me ? " Kazarian asked .
" Stay with Traci , " AJ said .
" Right , " Frankie said .
Orlando Mall
The boys got to the mall okay and drove around for awhile looking for Autumn until they found her sitting on a bench .
" Do you see anyone around her ? " AJ asked .
" No , " Daniels looked around .
" Except for the shoppers , " Storm added .
" Pull up beside her on the bench , " Roode said .
" Right , " Daniels said pulling the car around right next to the bench .
" Autumn , " Roode said as he and Storm got out to get her .
" Bobby , " Autumn started crying as he put his arms around her relieved that she was safe .
" Are you okay ? " Bobby asked looking for any signs of damage .
" I feel sore from the wreck and ill from being pregnant , " Autumn continued to cry on him .
" Come on , let ' s get you to the hospital , " Storm said as Bobby helped her to the car .
" Daniels , let ' s go , " AJ said once everyone was in .
" On it , " Daniels said as they head back to the hospital .
" What did they do to you ? " Bobby asked .
" What he normally does , " Autumn said as Roode noticed the bruises on her .
" Did they hit you ? " Bobby asked .
" Yes , with his belt , " Autumn started crying again on Bobby ' s shoulder .
" Your step-dad ? " Bobby asked trying not to let his temper get out of control while he was trying to help Autumn .
" Yes , until he realized I was pregnant , then he wouldn ' t touch me . He looked at me with disgust like I was trash to him , then he told Ronnie to bring me to the mall and leave me there . I was told not to move when he put me on the bench and that someone would come and get me . I thought he meant someone from Immortal and definitely didn ' t think they would call anyone on our side . " Autumn said .
" Here let me see , " Bobby said making her lean forward so he could pull up her shirt to see the bruises and welts on her back .
" We ' ll let the authorities handle this when we get to hospital , a lot of illegal stuff was done here on their part and Immortals , starting with going through sealed records and ending with the wreck , kidnapping , and beatings . " Storm said as they pulled into the hospital ER .
" I will take her in while you guys go back and tell the others the news . " Roode said as he and Autumn got out of the car .
" Okay , " AJ agreed before they pulled off .
Hospital ER
Bobby and Autumn walked over to the desk in the ER of the hospital making the nurse at the front desk look at the two .
" Can I help you ? " The nurse asked .
Bobby talked to the nurse explaining that Autumn had been in the same wreck that Traci had been in , kidnapped before the ambulance had gotten to them , recently left on the bench at the mall by her kidnappers , been beaten by said kidnappers , and was pregnant with his and Autumn ' s child .
" We will get her checked out , " The nurse said as they took Autumn to get checked out who looked at Bobby nervous about being in the hospital .
" Everythings okay , " Bobby said .
" Will you be waiting ? " Autumn asked .
" I will be in the waiting room when they bring you out baby , " Bobby promised her .
" Okay , " Autumn said following the nurse as he went back to the waiting room with the others finding Storm , AJ , and Daniels already back in the room .
" How is she ? " Bret asked .
" Scared , hurt , it ' s like they pushed her back into the way she was when I first met her at that stupid town , " Roode said making the rest of Fortune look at their brother .
" She was very tentative when you first brought her to Can-Am , " Petey remembering when Bobby first brought Autumn to him and D ' Amore .
" So she had a fear of being in the ring or what ? " Chase asked .
" No , actually when it came to her being trained to wrestle , she was excited almost in a way that a child would be when learning to ride a bike or catch a ball and she really wanted to learn about both the wrestling and the business to be honest . No , her nervousness was more so related to outside the ring , and how to do things in life . " Petey explained .
" Like what ? " Cassidy asked .
" Like buying a new car when her truck gave out , getting an apartment , paying bills , outside of cooking , washing clothes , and buying groceries which she always thought she needed permission to do , she needed to be taught how to do them and she was always nervous about asking Coach and myself for help with it as well . " Petey said .
" When we first met hurt she said that her step-dad never allowed her to get a job of her own because he felt like a woman wasn ' t suppose to do those things , she was suppose to do what man told her to do , and he would beat her if she spoke out against anyone within the community or if she did things her step-dad didn ' t like . " Bobby explained .
" Did he beat her while those people had her ? " Andrew asked .
" Yeah , she had bruises and welts on her back , " Bobby said .
" I will kick their asses right now . " Andrew said going to leave before Bret got in his way .
" Sit down , Andrew , " Scott Steiner order .
" And let them get away with hurting my sister ? " Andrew asked as his own temper started to rise .
" They are not getting away with anything , " Storm said making Andrew and Bobby look at him .
" I thought you would want their head on a pike , Cowboy ? " Harris asked .
" Trust me , there ' s nothing I would want more than to hang all of them , but that won ' t help Autumn right now . So , like I told Bobby on the way to get Autumn we will pass every information we have to the authorities to deal with those people while we deal with Immortal . " Storm said .
" Wow , you made that decision , Storm , " Kazarian said .
" I made an executive decision as the World Champion . " Storm shrugged like it wasn ' t a big deal .
" As the World Champion , " Chase chuckled .
" I ' m impressed , " Jackie said .
" Me too , " Gail said as both girls chuckled .
" I need a beer , " Storm said making the younger wrestlers all sigh .
" Of course you do , all of that thinking and decision making drained you , didn ' t it , " Bobby said .
" It did , " James said .
" How much am I gonna have to supply you with to be my best man ? " Bobby asked .
" Wait , what ? " James asked looking at Bobby .
" I want you to be my best man at the wedding partner , so , how much do I need to supply you with , Storm ? " Bobby said .
" It ' s the responsibility of the best man and not the groom to supply the refreshments Bobby . " Christian walked into the room with Jeff Hardy and Devon .
" Seriously , " Bobby said .
" Absolutely , " Daniels agreed .
" Yes , " Bobby said in victory .
" Why are you so excited ? " Eric asked .
" Haven ' t you heard that ' It Pays To Be Roode ' EY , " Bobby said .
" We ' ve heard , " Petey sighed .
" Oh , right , " Eric shrugged .
The doctor walked into waiting room before anything else could be said .
" How is she ? " Bobby asked .
" Asking for the father of the baby , " The doctor said .
" The would be me , " Bobby said as the doctor took him to the room Autumn was in .
" Be careful with her as she needs her rest . " The doctor said .
" Yes sir , I understand , " Bobby said before going in as the doctor walked off .
" Bobby , " Autumn said as he went to her side as she laid in the hospital bed .
" Are you hurt from the wreck ? " Bobby asked .
" Some bruises and soreness , but nothing life threatening for me or the little one . " Autumn put a hand on her belly , she was far too early to be showing yet , but there was a beauty about her that he hadn ' t seen in the past . Maybe it had something to do with her being pregnant or maybe a combination of pregnancy and her being safe from her kidnappers and the car wreck , but she was really beautiful to him .
" I love both of you , so , much and I ' m relieved that you are safe , baby . " Bobby said finally kissing her .
It wasn ' t like the frustrated kiss from the night before or any other kiss he had given her , no , it was a kiss of relief from her being safely back in his life after he was so worried that those people would hurt her .
" I ' m safe now , Bobby , and I love you , too . " Autumn said as Sting walked in with Bret and Jarrett .
" We will get these guys , " Bret said .
" Yes sir , " Autumn said looking at Jeff Jarrett wondering why he allowed all of this to happen if he was suppose to be her godfather .
" Do you hate me ? " Jeff asked as Karen walked in .
" No , but I do wonder , why , why if you knew who I was would you allow me to be kidnapped by those people and allow them to mess with you to the point where you would jeopardize your own company and the people you personally brought into TNA ? " Autumn asked .
" Autumn , you have no right ... " Karen started .
" I have every right Karen , those people could have killed Traci and myself today , they beat the crap out of me and not just tonight , I can ' t begin to describe to you or anyone else for that matter the trauma I went through as a child because of them . Or the lengths I went through to have those records sealed to keep them off of my tail and next thing I know Matt Hardy and Bully Ray has this information ready to hand me over to them , by orders of Bischoff and Flair . So , tell me why I don ' t have the right to call out the man that my parents trusted to take care of my brother and me . " Autumn in tears ready to defend everything she knew to be right with a passion as the others joined them in the room .
" Autumn , " Jacqueline came over and hugged her trying to get her to calm down as Traci hobbled into the room .
" Are you suppose to be out of a hospital bed ? " Frankie asked .
" It ' s just an arm and ribs , Frankie , I need to be in here with my girl . " Traci said sitting in the chair next to Autumn .
" You ' ll have the Knockouts Title on your desk as soon as someone can get it , Karen , " Autumn realizing that she would have to give up her belt because of being pregnant and stepping away to prepare for the coming baby .
" Very well , I will be waiting , " Karen said as she stepped out of the room with nothing else to say to Autumn .
" Autumn ... " Jeff Jarrett thought about it before shaking his head and going to follow Karen out .
" Answer me , one question before you leave Jarrett , seeing as you were at one point my dad ' s best friend , do you think I disappointed him ? " Autumn asked .
" Autumn , your dad loved you and your brother more than anything else in the world , so , did your mother ; I think both would be proud of you for the way you stand up for what you believe in even when others doubt and question you . Standing your ground when enemies are at your back , giving back to others , and making them stop and think about what they are doing in life that may not be the right way to live . You have changed a lot of people ' s ways of doing things that was positive in their lives , don ' t lose that as you continue to grow in both our world and the world outside of wrestling . " Jarrett said looking at her before leaving with Karen .
" I see , " Autumn said .
" So , there went the power advantage from the Knockouts Title in our hands , " Daniels sighed .
" Don ' t get down just yet Daniels , there ' s still Knockouts in this coalition to deal with whatever Immortal has planned . " Gail said .
" And you are prepared to take on Kong ? " Harris asked .
" Just like I have before , " Gail said .
" I believe you , " Autumn said .
" Are we missing the fact that Autumn is going to have a baby ? " Storm reminded them .
" A what ? " Traci asked .
" Oh right , you weren ' t in the waiting room earlier . " Daniels said .
" Bobby and I are gonna add a little one to this crazy bunch , " Autumn said rubbing her belly .
" Whoo hoo , ow , " Traci went to cheer before the ribs made it ache to get to excited .
" Don ' t scare the baby , dear , there will be enough of that when it gets here . " Bobby said .
" Starting with your partner , " AJ said .
" Hey , now I have been very well behaved lately , " Storm said .
" Just wait , that will change by tomorrow , Cowboy . " Chase sighed .
" My brother speaks the truth , " Cassidy said .
" I will not resist kicking you two in the face where you will be in one of these hospital rooms , Hot Shots . " Storm warned .
" Calm down , you ' re in a hospital not the Impact Zone , a bar , or your house . " Coach Scott sighed .
" See it ' s not just myself and Petey that drives you crazy , Coach , " Autumn said .
" Me ? " Petey asked .
" Petey has never driven me crazy like your stunts during training , " D ' Amore said .
" What stunts ? " Chyna asked .
" High risk , " Autumn said .
" She would do things like walk on the ropes and jump off of stuff , " D ' Amore said making Autumn blush .
" Typical X - Division stuff then , " Shelley said like it wasn ' t a big deal .
" Petey encouraged it , " Autumn said making Scott look at Petey .
" It was a pleasure to watch you drive him crazy , " Petey finally said .
" Petey , " Scott started .
" Calm down this is a hospital , D ' Amore . " Sting said .
" Ooo , " Daniels and Kazarian said .
" Coach , Bobby and I will need you to babysit the little one when it gets here , are you up for the challenge ? " Autumn asked .
" Don ' t test it , Autumn , " D ' Amore said .
" I like the idea of Coach babysitting , " Bobby agreed .
" Me too , " Petey and Eric agreed .
" Kids , " Bret sighed .
" I ' m still trying to figure out when I started being called a kid , " Harris said .
" When you came back to TNA , kid , " Sting said before he walked out with Bret and D ' Amore .
" Oh , " Harris shrugged .
" Kid , " Chase said .
" Don ' t start , Stevens or Cassidy may have to find the other Natural to take your place from me knocking you out . " Harris said .
" Everybody wants a go at the Natural , " Chase said .
" Can you handle it ? " Autumn asked .
" Seriously , " Chase looked at her surprised .
" Had to ask , " Autumn winked .
" She ' s part Owen , so , don ' t look surprised , " Christian said to Chase .
" I see that , " Chase said .
" And ... you and Chyna were right , I did get overwhelmed the other day in the ring , more than I should have . " Autumn said making Bobby look at her .
" Can I get that in writing ? " Chyna asked .
" No , " Christian said .
" Be careful , Autumn , we don ' t need Chase with a bigger head than he already has , sis , " Andrew said .
" How did you figure it out ? " Chase asked ignoring the others in the room .
" After Bobby got me to relax last night , I realized everything that happened in the last few weeks was getting to me . " Autumn said .
" Huh ? " Bobby asked .
" Finding out that my whole life up to the point that I found out about Owen being my dad had been a lie , trying to live up to his name and the prestige of Hart Dynasty , those people coming after me , Immortal disrespecting his name , and worried that I maybe disappointing both him and my mother , it felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders and when I saw Kong that night it was as if I was seeing all of that weight coming at me all at once . " Autumn said as Bobby hugged her .
" Why didn ' t you say anything ? " Bobby asked .
" Robert Roode , I love you with everything that I am and ever since we met , you ' ve been trying to fix every problem I had to go through at the hands of the people I grew up with in that town . " Autumn said .
" I promised I would , " Bobby said .
" But , this was something I need to figure out for myself , Canadian Knight , " Autumn said as she kissed Bobby making the guys gag .
" Find a room , " Sabin said .
" They apparently already found one with that little one in Autumn ' s belly , " Storm said .
" James , " Daniels said like Storm had said something he shouldn ' t .
" What ? Tear gas , " Storm said making Daniels blush .
" Don ' t remind us , " AJ and Kazarian said to Storm .
" I don ' t follow , " Harris said .
" You don ' t want to know , " AJ said .
" Boys , don ' t set a bad example for the baby , " Autumn pointed to her belly making everyone chuckle .
" Impossible with this group , " Angle said .
" It ' s the effort that counts , " Autumn shrugged .
" I love you , " Bobby kissed her again .
