The next day Sara got a psychically interrogation from Inoichi. He wanted to know about a few memories in her past. He didn't even start about recents events, he was all business.

He wanted to know about her character. Probably figuring out if she wasn't a psychopath or something, Sara thought. Sara decided to be honest. Tell him everything he wanted to know as long if it wouldn't be too personal. She had nothing to loose, besides it was important to gain their trust.

The first memory he wanted to know about was when she had been afraid. "The first situation that comes to your mind." Inoichi tried to encouraged Sara.

A very recent situation popped into her mind. "A few days ago, when I was chasing that criminal that ended up in me meeting Kakashi. Before I went trough the portal I felt very scared." Without Inoichi asking Sara to explained further, she continued. "I was alone, my colleagues no were near me to help. The person I was chasing, I knew he just killed someone, I knew he was dangerous."

Inoichi had seen these memories in Sara's mind and knew what she was talking about. "What were you afraid of? That he would hurt you as well?" Inoichi asked when Sara topped talking.

"No, I was afraid that I needed to hurt him, perhaps even kill him. I was inexperienced, I never needed to use this kind of violence before." Sara explained.

"That didn't stop you from shooting Kakashi, thinking it was that criminal." Inoichi pointed out.

"I didn't really had a choice, at least not in that situation, I thought he was the killer. For me it was to kill or be killed."

"I see." Inoichi wrote a few things down, "What about a situation in which you felt extremely angry, furious, out of control of your emotions."

Sara laughed at the suggestion thinking about it.

"What's so funny?" Inoichi asked.

"I'm never angry, or furious. I'm couldn't think of a time I was completely out of control of my emotions. That idea is funny. It doesn't fit me at all."

"You can't be angry?"

"Of course, just not extremely."

"Never got teased, or something happened that was out of your reach that made you angry?"

Sara thought of the time when she was young. The only person that ever could get her angry was her brother.

"Can I see this memory you are thinking of right now?" Inoichi asked when he saw Sara was elsewhere in her mind.

"Yes of course, go ahead?" She wasn't sure how it worked yet.

Inoichi stood behind Sara and put his hand on her head. Immediately Sara's memory about her brother became alive. Her brother in the living room, he was angry about losing a game to his little sister. Sara was only eight-years old at the time. In his anger he ripped off the head of her favorite stuffed animal. An orange dog with gigantic ears. She loved that thing, but now all his inside fluff was spread trough the living room. His head dangling by one last thread to it's body. In her young life this was Sara's most precious possession. The one thing he could use to hurt her.

Something inside little Sara snapped. She picked up a plate that was on the table and hurled it at her brothers head without hesitation.

She instantly regret it, it was a direct hit and her brother got a nasty cut right above his eye. She forget her anger, she forget about her stuffed animal. She rushed to her brother to tend to his wound. The memory ended there. Inoichi released Sara's head and wrote a few things down on his scroll.

"His wound needed two stitches, after that I've always been afraid to hurt someone. That was the only and last time I ever lost control over my emotions. Losing control gave me such a bad feeling about myself. I never want to feel like that again." Sara explained, still ashamed of what she did when she was only eight-years old. Even though her brother had giving her all the reason to be angry at him. She was only human after all.

"How's your connection to your brother nowadays?"

"It's fine. We live far apart, but we call sometimes. We are family, but not really friends. But if I need him for something, I can count on him and the other way around."

"And your parents?"

"They died a few years ago in a car accident. One of the times me and my brother found a lot of support with each other."

"Did your friends help as well?"

"Hmm, no." Sara said coldly. "I have a few friends, but we're not that close. I didn't want to burden them with my loss. But at that time I still had my boyfriend. He helped the most."

"But your relation ended?"

"A year ago, he lost his life in a tragic work related accident." Sara said shortly, she clearly didn't want to talk about it. She was happy Inoichi didn't ask to watch her memories about this one.

But he still needed to ask her, "What happened?"

"He was also a police officer, just like me. He was shot by a colleague, by accident. That colleague was supposed to hit a tug, but.. things got messy." Sara's eyes got watery by the thought of her lost loved one. She quickly blinked her eyes to git rit of the upcoming tears. "It had been hard on me to loose him. Everything in my work made me think about him. I couldn't.." Sara wanted to say more about it, but she stopped in the middle of her sentence. Unable to control her voice.

Inoichi took the lead, he wanted to know about her emotions. "Weren't you angry on that colleague?"

"Of course I was. First I wanted him to suffer as much as I had. It was his fault and I was angry, but... I had a good conversation with him. He was feeling so guilty, he was already suffering. He didn't sleep, he was even suicidal." Sara took a small pause for continuing. "I ended up forgiving him, so he could live on."

"How did it make you feel?" Inoichi asked.

"Empty.. but relieved, it helped me to continu my life as well. After I forgave him I could enjoy life again. I picked up my job were I left it a year before. It was like I forgave myself. Accepting that there was nothing I could have done about it." Sara gave a small smile, sweeping away the escaping tear rolling over her cheek.

"Thanks for opening up to me." Inoichi said after the emotional story. He wrote some more things down and suggested to take a break outside in the sun. Sara gladly took that opportunity.

Inoichi found it useful to tell Sara some things about this world. He told her about the village and other villages around. How there had been wars and why there were so many shinobi. Soon Sara understood that killing was part of a shinobi's life.

Sara needed to ask, "Is Kakashi a killer?"

Inoichi laughed at her obvious question, "Kakashi? A yes, he killed more than most shinobi from the Hidden Leaf."

"For what reason?" Sara needed to know. She didn't like the idea of Kakashi being a killer.

"To defend the village of course, protect the people in these lands and his 'colleagues'." It was clear Inoichi didn't use the word colleague often. But because Sara mentioned it before, he used it as well.

When she asked about Yamato being a killer, she got the same answer, "This world is different then yours Sara. The enemy will kill you if you don't kill them first. We have wars here, we have have real enemies, it's different than misbehaving citizens that will stop if you point a weapon at them. In this world it's all about 'to kill or to be killed'."

A war, Sara found it hard to understand. She never been in one, she never liked the idea of a war. There were no winners in wars, only losers.

After the break Inoichi asked some more questions. He wanted to see more of her memories, but nothing as emotionally charged as this morning. She told him about being shy as a young girl, but that she always explored her weaknesses and fears. She was no typical cop, she always had been different than her class mates on the police academy. She was the only thinker, the only analyzer, the one that didn't rush in head first. She didn't like making mistakes. But it was hard to fit in between the others and to be accepted for her different approach and different way of thinking. Even though she had no trouble to get good grades.

It was time for lunch, but it had already been a long and intensive day for Sara. She was glad when Inoichi had enough information and went away to make a report about it.

Sara was also glad that someone finally told something about this world were she ended up in. Inoichi had talked about Kakashi and Yamato like they were war hero's. Killing people to protect others. Interesting.

Sara pictured Kakashi in her head. His masked face, hiding his intriguing red eye. A scar across his cheek. Most of the time he looked relaxed, but she knew that his eyes could also look alert, focust. He had been strong and super fast. Yes she could imagine him being a war hero.

About Yamato she wasn't so sure. Yes she could imagine him being strong. He was tall and well built and also his weird ass talent about shooting a forest out of the ground could be useful. The idea of those branches piercing trough the bodies of the enemy gave Sara a chill. Yamato had been friendly, but there was something dark about him, like if he was hiding something.

Both men had taking Sara's interest, she decided she wanted to learn more about them. Also about other shinobi in this world. How could one not be curious when getting stuck in a world like this? People had freaking superpowers here.
