"Jazzy, dear?" Maddie knocked on her daughter's door and slowly peaked inside. Her daughter still had her nose in her books and furiously writing on numerous sheets of paper. Maddie smiled, being so proud to have a career-driven and enthusiastic daughter, but she worries that it's too much. Jasmine is still 17, after all. She talks about taking a break when people are stressed, but she isn't very good at doing that.
She quietly walked towards her daughter and gently pulled a hand on her shoulder. Jasmine's body stiffened and her neck quickly snapped to look at her. "Mom! Aren't you supposed to knock?!" Jasmine complained, her brows furrowed.
"I did knock, sweetie, but you were so busy with those books, you completely didn't hear me," Maddie pointed to the college books, eyeing her daughter.
Jasmine sighed and rubbed her left temple. "I'm sorry… It's just that… Graduation is coming soon and I still haven't heard of any of the colleges I applied to. I'm worried I didn't even get in," Jazz expressed.
Maddie could see the defeated eyes and small tears that lingered in Jazz's eyes and it broke her heart of how much her child was going through. She combed her daughter's hair soothingly and said, "don't worry, dear. Any college would be a fool if they don't accept such a genius as you." Jazz smiled at the reassurance.
Maddie gently kissed her daughter's forehead and smiled comfortingly. "Dinner's ready. Danny and Jack are already waiting," Maddie said, as she pulled her daughter up from her seat.
