Soft jazz flowed through the silent compound. Diego staggered between bodies wrapped in sheets pouring flammable alcohol over each of them and taking a swig of the burning liquid and wincing each time. Marcel watched as his people were put to rest with a impassive expression, he blamed himself, all his younger years living with what he considered to be the best strategist in the world and he was still beaten. Fooled by a simple trick . The reveal of there being another Mikealson was something he could never predict, and using Rebekah to narrow his gaze was a stroke of genius. Perseus had been the perfect plant, no one knew who he was only that he was strong and a capable warrior. With the original family moving back to his city, Marcel had focused completely on them and neglected to do his usual investigations when a new individual came to town. Perseus didn't even act like he was unkillable, he fought with the intent to harm not kill. But still was quite down to earth. He had played his role brilliantly and with all the cards stacked against him Marcel never stood a chance. A hand was placed on his shoulder and taking a glance over his shoulder he saw Percy's sullen expression
"I'm sorry Marcellus, I know they meant something to you" Percy spoke
"Didn't stop you killing them though did it" Marcel muttered his tone bitter
"Their deaths are on you" Percy stated sighing, Marcel spun in a flash and glared at the taller man. He opened his mouth to shout back but was stopped with a glare." You knew the odds of taking down Klaus were slim. And yet you still ordered the attack despite facing not one, but two originals. I know you thought it was best and being a determined adversary is admirable. But knowing when you are beaten and setting aside your wounded pride was the smart play." Percy lectured leaning against the banister.
"Percy is correct" Klaus said walking up to the pair and placing his hands on the railing. "You are looking at what you wrought" He said his eyes fixed on his adoptive son.
"Look if your going to kill me, get it over with" Marcel sighed
"Kill you? Why would I do that? You surrendered. You picked up the coin" Klaus raised an eyebrow "There are rules of engagement Marcellus, without them we would have anarchy. Me and my family will be moving back into the compound, I believe that will be sufficient reparations"
"You want this house? Take it. Put me out on the street I don't care. But you will never have this" Marcel stated gesturing to the dead bodies and Diego who was still pouring alcohol over them. " Loyalty, you can't buy it. You can't force it. Its earned. You taught me many things Niklaus Mikealson, but this I learned myself." Marcel glared at the older hybrid vampire.
"And that is precisely why you are still alive" Percy snorted, Marcel turned to face him almost forgetting he was there. "You have their loyalty. You have their allegiance, you have their respect. That is what you will be doing. We are the leaders, you are the general." Percy explained looking deep into the younger vampires eyes.
"I thought I was alive because I picked up the coin" Marcel glowered at him
"You are alive for three reasons. One you are going to be acting as general for us. Two because my brother, despite your many years of absence still harbours care for you. And three because Davina asked for you to be spared." Percy matched his stare with a low growl. And his arms crossed over his chest, staring down the younger man
"Davina?!" Marcel exclaimed his expression turning horrified.
"I have been helping her to control her magic, you have been neglecting your duty to that young witch, anyone with a small amount of insight could see she was getting overwhelmed by power that she couldn't control. So when I told her we were taking over, she asked for you to be spared. You should be thanking her." Percy nodded his head and waved away his concerns.
"Davina knew what you are?" Marcel shook his head and leant back against the balcony again. He never stood a chance against these brothers. Klaus was the best strategist of war in the world. But is seemed Percy was the best strategist period. He knew every angle of Marcel's power and had the time to systematically dismantle his power base. Marcel had been outclassed from the beginning.
"I'm afraid so, but I made her a promise to get her out of that attic. She will be staying here, at the compound until she wishes to leave. Does that sound fair brother?" Percy asked nodding his head at the new king of New Orleans.
"That's quite alright brother, will you need help in moving her?" Klaus questioned smiling at his eldest brother.
"No its fine brother, I promised I'd help her move and between me and Elijah we can move her swiftly." Percy smiled back before clapping Marcel on the shoulder and walking away towards his room.
"What's the deal with him? You act completely different when he is around and you have never mentioned him before " Marcel raised an eyebrow at Klaus. Klaus chuckled and gave Marcel a amused look.
"Allow me to regale you with the tales of my brother over a drink Marcel, I think we both need it." Klaus smirked and wandered to the study behind them. Marcel sighed lightly before following behind him. It seemed he needed information on his new position in the French Quarter
The next morning
Davina sat on her bed cross-legged, her eyes closed and her breathing slow. Magic around her was slow and soft. She had been experimenting with some of Percy's teaching and it seemed that taming her magic was more from sheer force of will than continuous practice with easy spells. Percy had told her that allowing the magic around her to flow rather than trying to control it was the correct way and he hadn't been wrong yet. Allowing a slow flame to burn inside her, the air around her reacted and started to heat it went from a cool warmth to tropical in less than a second. Davina quickly slowed it down further and the air instantly felt cooler, like she was standing next to a candle rather than a blazing inferno.
"I see you are hard at work" A voice startled her and she reacted quickly, thrusting her hand out an explosion of power rocketed towards the sound. Percy crossed his arms over his chest and took the hit, staggering back a step he spun away from the flow of power and watched as it nearly destroyed the wall behind him.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry" Davina jumped off her bed and rushed to him.
"Good thing I'm moving you today, I don't think this place can take much more of your accidental attacks." Percy smirked looking at the large hole she had blasted through the wood. The outside of the hole was smoking slightly as the residual energy singed the already rotting wall.
"Are you okay?" Davina asked looking over his barely moved form. Almost anything would have been sent flying from the force she put into that attack. But Percy had barely been moved, only taking one step backwards. Davina was still curious about how strong he actually was.
"Oh I'm fine, although I'm touched by your concern. It would take more than that to hurt me" Percy smiled at her waving away her apology with his hand.
"Wait. Did you say I'm leaving today?" Davina tilted her head and stared at him a slowly growing grin forming on her face.
"You are correct little witch, you are moving to the compound for the moment." Percy nodded. Davina jumped and wrapped her arms around his neck laughing in joy. Percy chucked and briefly wrapped his arms around her waist letting her enjoy the moment. Davina let go of her iron tight grip and turned around waving her hand. Clothes and books floated in the air before a suitcase opened and landed on her bed. The items flew into the case and the lid slammed shut before sealing the zip and being picked up by Davina's hand.
"Ready!" Davina shouted turning to Percy again. Percy laughed loudly and leaned back feeling his body shake.
"The power to change reality and alter the very fabric of the universe. And she uses it to pack a suitcase." Percy laughed again holding his stomach at the glowing blush on Davina's face.
"Oh shut up" Davina growled swatting his arm with her hand,
"Okay let's go little one" Percy said after her got his laughter under control. "Unless oh I don't know you want to assemble a cabinet with your power" He smirked as she gave him a withering glare and stomped out of the room. Percy chuckled once more before following behind the tantruming witch.
Descending the stairs he nodded at the priest and pushed the front doors open for Davina to walk through and they shut behind him with a echoing clang. His eyes followed Davina as the smile on her face got brighter, she was clearly happy to be allowed to leave the attic.
"Come now little witch let's get you settled in your new home" Percy matched her smile and turned in the direction of the compound feeling Davina follow behind him, she was walking slower than he was. Taking in the sights for the first time in 8 months. Percy felt attached to the young girl, both of them had been locked in a place they didn't want to be and had untold euphoria when they were finally out.
After 20 minutes of walking they entered the front doors of the Mikealson Manor, Klaus and Marcel both stood by the stairs talking as they approached, Marcel's smile grew as he saw his adoptive daughter walking towards him.
"Davina you already know Marcel but allow me to introduce my younger brother Niklaus, The new king of New Orleans" Percy said with a sarcastic dramatic bow. Klaus gave him a unimpressed look before he turned to the super witch.
"Ignore my brother, I think all that time in a hole in the ground rotted his brain somewhat" Klaus said innocently a not so subtle shrug aimed at the young girl who had a amused smile on her face at the exchange.
"Oh is that right brother? You seem to be fitting into your new role quite well. Look at you already playing king and court jester" Percy smirked folding his hands behind his back.
"Oh Percy you think your being cute"
"Bitch I'm adorable"
"Okay enough with the impromptu measuring contest" Davina laughed as both brothers turned to her with a disgusted expression. She noticed they looked quite similar when they were stood next to each other. All be it with separate eye and hair colour.
"I assure you Davina, there is no contest" Percy smirked again as his brother growled in irritation.
"Shall we get you to your room little D? I think you might like its decoration" Marcel smiled leading the girl up the stairs. Davina waved at Percy as she walked away and he returned the action. Percy turned to his brother and tilted his head to the side.
"So how did Marcel take to his new role?" Percy questioned turning to sit in one of the arm chairs.
"Better than I expected to my surprise, I expected more disobedience from him. He never really was one for following orders" Klaus frowned as he copied his brother sitting down in a chair and pouring himself a drink.
"Do you think he is planning something?" Percy asked his expression turning thoughtful.
"I don't see why he wouldn't be. If it was me I would already have plans to retake control, and I did teach him everything he knows. So it stands to reason he would follow the same path I would." Klaus nodded his head taking a sip of his drink.
"Lets not jump to any wild conclusions just yet. Have someone keep an eye on him or something, your rule is new and most vampires don't trust you yet. Having Marcel killed or punished without cause will alienate your new subjects. You need to build a powerbase first and having them trust you is the most vital step" Percy concluded his head swimming with a few plans for safeguards and counter measures.
"You always were cautious Percy, its one of the many reasons no one had managed to kill you yet" Klaus said setting down his now empty glass. He studied his brothers relaxed form. On the outside, his brother was a perfect picture of undisturbed. But Klaus knew his brother well enough to know he never let anyone have the upper hand and already had plans for any opposition. Klaus's paranoia was worse when he felt threatened and most people would assume that Percy was a threat. They would be correct but not in the way they think that they are, Percy would never turn on his family. To him that would be the greatest of betrayals, Percy loved his family and nothing would ever make him stop loving them. Being the eldest, he had always been the patriarch to his siblings. A confidant that they could ask advice or just tell him stories.
"Where is Elijah? I thought he was going to be coming with you" Klaus said realising that Percy had arrived alone.
"I sent him a text to go and help pack up the Governors house, I actually need to go and help him soon. I promised to help Hayley move as well" Percy replied
"Very well, go and help them we will talk more when you are back" Klaus nodded and stood up with his brother following suit. Percy smiled and strolled towards the door.
"Percy, Davina told me to ask when her next lesson was" Marcel said standing on a balcony. Percy looked at him over his shoulder.
"Tell her later on tonight, I have other things to do right now but I'll be sure to see her later" Percy replied continuing towards the door. Pushing open the double doors Percy blurred through the streets, more jazz way playing and the street artists were stood at the podium painting in the sun. Percy loved how alive the city seemed. Back when they still lived in a village, people never seemed to be living. They seemed to be surviving more than anything, but with humanities strides in medicine and technology the average person lived much longer and could experience much more. Percy owed the beautiful werewolf his life and would gladly give it so she and her child could live.
Shaking his head of the thoughts of death, he blurred up the driveway and stopped at the bottom of the steps. Looking up at the picturesque white House he memorised every bit of it. This had been his first home since he was free, despite knowing it had been temporary he still couldn't help but feel a bit melancholy at the thought of leaving. Climbing the steps he pushed open the doors and strode into the kitchen. At this time Hayley was usually awake and had her cravings being satisfied with some bacon. Frowning at the empty room he walked back to the foyer and up the stairs.
Pushing open the door to Hayley's room, he saw she was tucked up in bed. A cocoon of covers wrapped around her as she hugged a pillow to her chest. Chuckling lightly he sat on the end of the bed and lightly ran his fingers through her hair, she smiled In her sleep and stirred as the sensation gave her a nice wake up. Opening her eyes Hazel locked on to green and she smiled brighter.
"I'm glad you are okay Percy" She whispered leaning her head further towards his hand as he still ran his fingers across her head.
"Yes well it will take a lot more than some new vampires to take me down shield maiden." Percy returned her smile.
"Don't get too overconfident Percy, wasn't that one of your lessons to Klaus" Hayley smirked at his unimpressed look.
"I'm not overconfident, I'm assured of my own capabilities. Plus I fought with Klaus at my side. There is little on this planet that can defeat two originals in a straight up fight." Percy replied
"You might be right, I know you don't just rush in and that you had a plan. Doesn't stop me worrying though" Hayley muttered sitting up in bed and pulled Percy into a hug. The sound of rumbling pulled them apart and Hayley blushed lightly as her stomach voiced its need for food.
"Come on, we can pick up some food as we go to the compound " Percy said standing up and holding out his hand for her to take. She took it and was pulled to her feet. Hayley walked into the dressing room and changed from her sleeping nighty into a pair of loose fitting joggers and a black tank top
"So what's on the agenda today for the eldest original" Hayley jokes a mischievous twinkle in her eye. Before she walked out of the room and towards the stairs
"Not much, Klaus has a meeting with the vampires and the human faction scheduled for today. He has asked me to attend, he also wants you to be at the one with the vampires. Something about introducing you to his kingdom" Percy shrugged and followed her down the stairs and out of the door, Elijah sat in the living room dressed as usual in a pristine navy blue suit with a cup of coffee on the table next to him.
"Good morning to you both." Elijah smiled turning the page of a newspaper he was reading.
"Good morning brother, we need to be at the compound soon could you drive us?" Percy smiled at his brother before taking a sip of Elijah's coffee. Elijah's hand snapped out and grabbed the cup from his hand, giving him a narrowed look.
"Don't drink my coffee Perseus. And yes I can give you a ride since you still haven't learned how to drive" Elijah smirked as he folded the newspaper and downed the rest of his drink. Hayley snickered at the trademark barbs the siblings threw at each other.
"Well i will learn how to drive when you learn that you don't need to wear a suit to go into the bayou" Percy replied an easy smile on his face. Elijah chuckled and took his cup into the kitchen, he exited and walked towards the door as Percy and Hayley trailed behind him.
The group sat in the car with Percy in the front and in the back with Elijah driving. Percy put the window down and let the fresh air waft over his face. Tuning out of the driveway Elijah accelerated onto the road heading towards the city. Percy still wondered about his conversation with Klaus earlier on in the morning, if Marcel was planning a move he would need to know before he put his plan into action. Rebekah had been close to him before and would be the perfect spy. But Percy didn't like the idea of using his baby sister as a plant in Marcel's life. Since they didn't know who they could trust in the vampire community yet, it would need to be a sibling who watched Marcel. Unfortunately they all had roles they needed to play and Hayley couldn't be out there in hostile territory while she was pregnant.
Percy let out a frustrated sigh as his thoughts got him nowhere, pushing the topic to the side he pulled out his phone when it sounded in his pocket.
'Where are you? The meeting starts soon'
Percy didn't reply as they had pulled up to the compound already opening the door he blurred around the car and opened the door for Hayley to get out, Hayley rolled her eyes at the chivalry of the original and walking through the open doors of the compound.
"Not going to open my door as well? I'm the one who drove you here dear brother" Elijah drawled stepping out of the car himself.
"You always were mothers little princess Elijah, ill be sure to do it next time" Percy laughed slinging an arm around his brothers shoulder and leading him after the laughing werewolf.
"One of these days Perseus, I'm going to smack you so hard you won't remember your name" Elijah joked shrugging his arm off him and walking through the doors as well. Percy gave an amused smile before following his brother. Entering the main square, Percy gave a raised eyebrow at the long polished table and the immortals sat around it.
"Ah brothers its good of you to join us" Klaus smiled still sitting at the head of the table. Elijah snorted and moved to Klaus's left as Percy moved to his right. Klaus stood up and gestured Hayley to sit in the chair holding out a glass of water with the other hand. Hayley raised an eyebrow but sat in the chair taking the glass and sipping it lightly. Klaus leaned on the chair with both hands on the back rest. His eyes roved over the collection of supernatural beings before giving a predatory grin
"Let its begin with a toast. To out shared gift. Immortality. After a thousand years, one might think life to be less keenly felt, for its beauties and its sorrows to diminish with time, but as vampires we feel more deeply than humans could possibly imagine." Klaus waved his hand and some waiters came forward to the table, taking the steak knives from the table they slit their wrists and held them over the collection of silver plates around the table, the blood flowed from the cuts onto the plates, dark red contrasted with shining silver. "Insatiable need. Exquisite pain. Our victories and our defeats." Klaus's eyes locked onto Marcel and gave a slight smirk at the last bit, before he raised his glass and addressed the table again. "To our city, my home again. May the blood, never cease to flow" Klaus finished his speech and raised his glass slightly higher.
"And the party never end" Marcel tacked on raising his own glass, Percy watched as Marcel looked over at Diego a unspoken message passing between them.
"To New Orleans" Diego raised his own glass and gave a pointed look at the rest of the table.
"To New Orleans" They sounded following their lead. Percy was no fool and could see Elijah picked up on it as well when he looked at his brother briefly. Diego and Marcel must have talked about playing a role for the time being.
"I understand many of you must have questions about the recent change in leadership, and I invited you here tonight to assure you that you are not defeated. No. My intentions moving forward are to celebrate what we have, what I started and Marcel continued. A thriving supernatural community." Klaus continued to keep his eyes on the reactions of the people around the table.
"What about her, the wolf" Diego pointed a finger at Hayley who looked a bit indifferent to the display. Her eyes locked onto Diego and she gave him a hard look. Percy growled softly under his breath at the disrespect.
"Had you let me finish Diego, you would know there was another announcement. As I'm sure many of you know. The girl is carrying my child, and you will pay her the proper respect." Klaus glared at Diego who shuffled lightly when his eyes flashed yellow. Hayley looked at Klaus in surprise at his protectiveness but smiled when he gave her a nod. Percy was proud of his brother and smiled at the back of his head giving him a light pat on the shoulder and stepping forward, Percy gave each of the gathered vampires a blank look. His eyes roved over their seated forms, pulsing orbs of power stared through their souls.
"As many of you no know I am an original, I have been in your company for sometime. And I have noticed how you all despise us, let me be clear. Any of you who wish for a chance to take control, stand up. I will show you how bad of a decision that is." Percy said coldly, their forms shifted in place and Diego looked especially nervous.
"Now Niklaus I believe you had that meeting with the human faction to attend" Elijah said adjusting his napkin before placing his hands in his coat pocket.
"Ah you are correct dear brother. Would you and Percy accompany me to this meeting please. And Marcel of course should come" Klaus nodded and finished his drink before placing a hand on Hayley's shoulder and giving her a nod. Klaus spun on his heel and walked towards the exit. Percy nodded his head at his room his eyes fixed on Hayley's still seated form. She nodded and made sure to keep her distance from the still bitter vampires. Percy wasn't sure to what lengths they would go to enact revenge, but he wasn't taking any chances.
Outside, the group got in the car and were off towards the church where the meeting had been arranged.
"Now Klaus its good to show a little diplomacy, politics goes a long way in this city" Marcel said turning in his chair to face Klaus who was driving.
"Peace Marcel. We will listen to what they have to say" Elijah smiled pulling out his phone and texting Rebekah to look after Hayley until they return. He didn't like the idea of Hayley alone in a house full of vampires who all hate originals any more than Percy did.
"I understand Marcellus, I created this faction if you remember." Klaus smirked before pulling up outside the church. The group exited the car and strode through the door. " I apologise for our lateness, we had other matters to attend to." Klaus took the centre of the room standing just beside the priest. The room was filled with human representatives. The mayor and the chief of police were present, along with the librarian that Percy had met entering the city for the first time.
"Its fine, we have decided to meet today, given the change in leadership we thought it was time to make the appropriate introductions. History has proven we can coexist peacefully" Father Kieran said addressing the room but giving a pointed look at the chief of police.
"We will allow you freaks to continue. Provided out pockets stay full." The chief waved his hand dismissively. Stepping forward quickly Percy placed a hand on Klaus's shoulder slightly holding him back from ripping the chiefs head off for the disrespect.
"You seem to believe we are beholden to your mercy" Elijah spoke his voice void of emotion.
"Allow me to explain what you fail to grasp. We rule this city, not you." The mayor said frowning at Klaus's enraged expression.
"More importantly, there're rules, no feeding on the locals, don't endanger this city or its inhabitants. If you cross the line-" The priest played peacemaker
"-You answer to us." The chief of police finished with a dirty expression.
"Let me get this straight, I am to play supplicant to this pompous ass, and its gang of petty thieves." Klaus laughed mockingly giving a disappointed look to Marcel.
"Brother" Percy warned, Klaus gave him an incredulous look over his shoulder before sighing and stepping back. "Allow me to give you some advice. Don't piss off a vampire that can't be killed, and don't assume you have any power in this room. Disrespect my family again, and they won't find what is left of you." Percy had taken a step forward and stood before the faction, his posture demanded respect and his expression wasn't happy. The humans in the room recognised that while Klaus was king, Percy was the one you didn't want to meet on bad terms
"Now we will leave and discuss your terms you will have our answer by tomorrow." Percy finished with a expression of pure ice. Placing another hand on his Klaus's shoulder he directed him towards the exit. Marcel nodded slightly at the priest and followed behind them with Elijah trailing at the rear to ensure they got out before anything else happened. The group got back in the car with Klaus in the front and Marcel driving. Elijah and Percy took the back seats both deep in thought
"Well that could have gone better" Marcel sighed and rolled his eyes at the furious look on Klaus's face. Percy hands clenched as his mind ran quickly with possible plans and schemes, suddenly like a bolt of lightning an idea struck him and he smiled to himself. Klaus and Elijah both caught the dangerous smile on their brothers face but let him think for a few more minutes.
"I have an idea, something I read about in the library when I first entered the city. We may need to make a stop first at the local newspaper office, given how much the people of this city read the paper I think we can use it to our advantage." Percy's smile had turned devious and the maniacal glint in his eye told both his brothers that his plan was as dastardly as they come.
"Marcel take us to the office" Klaus nodded at his brother accepting that he would tell them more later. Marcel nodded and continued on past the compound before taking a left towards the main city. Elijah chuckled lightly as his brothers smirk grew wilder and he let out little chuckles.
"Elijah, come with me I may have need of your decorum" Percy said opening the door as they pulled up outside the news station.
"Of course brother" Elijah chuckled moving to open the door only to find Percy had already opened it with a cheeky smirk on his face.
"Princess Elijah" Percy bowed his grin never fading.
"Shut up Perseus" Elijah said but was unable to keep the smile of amusement off his face.
"Come Elijah we have work to do. Klaus you should head back to the compound, you have a city to run after all. Inform Davina that I will be there for her lesson later on tonight please." Percy turned to his younger brother who at this time had rolled down the window and was openly laughing at the sour look on Elijah's face.
"Of course Percy, we will see you later." Klaus nodded and rolled up the window as Marcel pulled back onto the road heading in the direction of the compound once more.
Percy nodded to Elijah and walked up the steps of the building with Elijah following closely behind.
"So do you wish to inform me of your plan" Elijah spoke as they pushed open the doors. The lobby was spacious, with a single desk and a rather pretty secretary typing on a computer manning the desk. The floor was a shiny white with a assortment of plants and other office necessities scattered around the room. Percy didn't answer at first striding up to the desk with a purpose.
"Hello there, we have something to discuss with the editor. Kindly inform him this is of importance." Percy spoke with a commanding tone which had the secretary turning to face him almost immediately, she looked slightly taken aback by the handsome stranger who was demanding to see her boss.
"Do you have an appointment?" She stuttered out trying to regain her composure. Percy sighed and turned to Elijah waving his hand in her general direction. Elijah nodded and leaned forward with both hands resting on the desk that separated them.
" Take us to see the editor, now please" Elijah's voice turned hypnotic as he compelled her, quickly standing she walked down a hallway to her right and the two brothers followed. Taking another left and right she lead them into a wide open area when over a hundred people were typing away on computers and the sound of phones ringing encompassed the large room. She walked to the back of the room and knocked loudly on a door labelled Mark Russo, Editor.
"Mark, there are some people who are here to see you." She spoke before pushing open the door to reveal a middle aged man with balding head, dressed in a black suit and a red tie. Percy walked into the room and quickly sat on the chair opposite the editor who looked completely lost at the situation.
"Would you mind fetching us some coffee, we are going to be here for a while" Percy nodded at the secretary who glanced at her boss but quickly left the room leaving the door open behind her.
"Who the hell are you? And what are you doing in my office?!" The editor shouted his face rapidly turning red.
"Elijah close the door please." Percy stated his eyes never leaving angry man in front of them.
"Now Mr editor..." The sound was cut off when Elijah closed the door.
Line break
A few hours later Percy was sat in a chair with his feet up on the table watching as Davina floated the furniture around her room. Percy smiled lightly as a mirror slowly past by his face over 3 feet off the floor. Davina's face was screwed up in concentration, floating one item was easy but since her room had been outfitted to her needs the items floating around her included a desk 4 chairs and most of her drawing supplies.
"Now float the chair I'm sat in, please don't drop it" Percy joked and Davina let out a little laugh as she expanded her control over the chair he was sat in muttering the incantation under her breath. She could feel the chair lift off the floor with Percy still sat in it and begin revolving around her much like the rest of the furniture. Percy let her carry on for another few minutes before he noticed the sweat streaming down her face.
"Okay thats enough" Percy's voice knocked her concentration and she felt it slip, all the items in the room plummeted to the floor. Including the chair Percy was still resting in. He quickly grabbed the chair in one hand and leant forward landing on his feet holding the chair in his left hand. He laughed loudly at the annoyed expression on Davina's face.
"I hate you, you know that" Davina muttered under her breath but his vampiric hearing picked it up.
"Yes I'm aware" Percy nodded placing the chair back on the floor and sitting in it again. Davina dragged her feet and collapsed on her bed with an exhausted sigh.
"Why was that so much harder than it sounded" Davina asked mostly herself
"Because you had to have complete control of your surroundings. One misstep and you could have thrown something through a window or collapsed the wall." Percy explained crossing his legs and stapling his hands in front of him. Davina let out a little chuckle as he looked like a young teacher all her old classmates would have a crush on.
"How do you know so much about control?" Davina asked sitting up and drawing her knees to her chest, a curious smile on her face.
"Because I need to have control at all times or I could destroy everything within a mile" Percy said matter-of-factly and shrugging his shoulders. Davina started to laugh before seeing the serious expression on his face. He wasn't stating it as a joke, he genuinely felt like he could obliterate the entire French Quarter. Percy was many things but a liar wasn't among them, so if he believed he could Davina did also. It raised more questions about the seemly impossible immortal
"You know you still haven't explained exactly what you are" Davina said tilting her head to the side and examined his nonchalant form.
"I will someday of that I have no doubt. But even if I told you, you would not believe me" Percy said standing up and gesturing to her room. Davina sighed but waved her hand and the previously floating items lifted up again but this time were put back in their place before they were used as a training exercise. "I think that's enough for tonight." Percy smiled and glanced at the time on the clock.
"Awe but I was just starting to get some answers out of you." Davina pouted at him
"How about this, tomorrow I'll see how you can use your magic in a fight." Percy offered crossing his arms. Davina's face lit up and she smiled brightly at the much older immortal.
"Who will I be fighting?" Davina asked raising her eyebrow
"Me" Percy smirked at her
"Fuck you"
"Language"
"Fuck you and Language" Davina shot back a smirk apparent on her face.
"I'll show you the error of your ways tomorrow young one" Percy chucked before spinning on his heel and heading towards the door. Suddenly he froze and turned towards the window, in a quick flash he blurred to the open window and grabbed someone throwing them on the floor. He planted his boot on their throat and glared down at them.
"Josh?!" Davina exclaimed rushing to her feet and grabbing Percy's arm.
"Do you mind telling me why you are sneaking in through the window? Or should we skip that part and get right to me throwing you back out it" Percy snarled letting off the pressure on his throat but still keeping his boot where it was.
"Percy let him go" Davina said tugging on his arm. Percy glanced at her determined face before sighing at removing his foot and stepping back. Davina helped Josh to his feet and wrapped him in a hug.
"What are you doing here?" Davina asked excitement in her voice.
"I came to see you, I heard how you were moved to the compound and I wanted to see how you holding up in a house with Klaus. Didn't expect you to be getting magic lessons from him though" Josh said trying to get his breath back. Josh looked at Percy and gave him an awkward smile. "Hey thanks for not killing me you know"
"Oh young Joshua, you are Davina's friend. That means you fall under my protection. But I'm warning you. Abuse her friendship, and I will show you things worse than death" Percy warned before patting him on the shoulder and walking out of the room
"Well he is absolutely terrifying" Josh's face had turned pale as his eyes widened.
"Oh you don't know him that well, I promise he won't hurt you. He's just protective" Davina laughed smiling at the taller twenty year old.
"Still afraid"
With Percy
Percy walked through the halls of the compound heading towards his room when his phone rang in his pocket. Pulling it out he saw Sophie's name pop up and growled under his breath before pressing answer.
"You are either exceptionally brave or ridiculously stupid to contact me again" Percy snarled down the phone.
" I have a peace offering" Sophie's voice came through the phone
"This had better be good" Percy sighed loosening his crushing grip on his phone.
"How about Klaus's werewolf pack?" Sophie said smugly
"Elaborate. Now." Percy demanded
"Because of this miracle pregnancy a lot of wolves have come to the bayou, on of them has a ring on that I'm sure will be familiar to your brother" Sophie explained the sound of her pacing was quiet but he could still hear the desperation in her voice.
"And what do you want in return for this information?" Percy asked
" Not killing us would be a start but I need you to do something for me. I need you to go through your brothers journals and find me something on the name Celeste Dubois" Sophie said
"You are aware I have two brothers, both who have been alive for over a thousand years. Finding one name would be next to impossible" Percy rolled his eyes leaning against the wall
"Elijah's journals, she was a witch who died in the year 1821" Sophie's voice was irritating and demanding.
"Then I will just ask my brother why you feel the need to have information on a dead witch" Percy said quickly hanging up and turning off his phone. He entered his room and sat on his bed, stripping off his sitting and jeans he wrapped himself up in his covers and was asleep as his head hit the pillow.
The next morning saw Percy and Rebekah trudging through the bayou, Sophie had been desperate when she called him and Percy deduced that given her rather precarious situation she wouldn't have called him if she didn't have something real. So this morning Percy had left with Rebekah wanting to join him as the recent events had not allowed him to spend much time with his baby sister. Percy had a semblance of a plan, if there was anyone who knew this bayou it was Eve. He just hoped she wasn't too scared of him to talk
"Is there a reason we are wading through the swamp at nine in the morning" Rebekah asked ducking under a low hanging branch and taking a glance at her brothers fast moving form.
"Perhaps you should have asked what I was doing before you decided to join me in this endeavour" Percy joked and taking a small leap over a ditch.
"Well here i thought you were going out for breakfast, you know how I love a good fried breakfast" Rebekah smirked at her brother noticing the mirth dancing in his eyes.
"Since you asked so nicely and you have the subtlety of a Viking raider in Northumbria I'll take you for a meal soon" Percy snarked a mockingly thoughtful look on his handsome face
"See that you do dear brother, the youngest always gets what she wants" Rebekah smiles again listening at Percy let out a loud snort but wrapped an arm around her shoulders. The sound of buzzing flies danced through the air as they reached there destination. Rebekah noted it was the same cabin that they had rescued Hayley from when she was kidnapped by Tyler Lockwood, she hadn't been there when Percy had met the werewolf elder but he had told her a little of their encounter.
"Good morning Destroyer" A voice to their right alerted them. Standing there dressed in a brown cloak with a green dress was Eve, her hair had twigs and leaves strewn through her blonde locks and she looked slightly apprehensive at his presence. Rebekah glanced at her brother, she had never heard of him being referred to as The Destroyer and was curious why he had that name with the werewolves. Percy gave her a look that said drop it before shifting his eyes back to the resident Elder
"Percy is fine, Eve there is no need for formalities" Percy inclined his head in a short bow that Eve reciprocated
"Why have you returned Percy? My people heard you coming and your presence has scared them" Eve asked
"I have a question that needs answering." Percy replied folding his hands behind his back and lacing his fingers together.
"So answer it and we will be on our way" Rebekah stated shrugging her shoulders, Eve glanced at her briefly but quickly returned her gaze to her brother.
"Well ask away" Eve nodded her head
"I heard of werewolves arriving in the bayou to witness this so called miracle pregnancy, I have been informed of one being particularly important to my family" Percy asked raising an eyebrow in her direction.
"I was going to contact you about that, unfortunately there is not much of a way for me to get in touch with you." Eve pulled out a map from her cloak and spread it out over the table on the deck of the cabin.
"Percy why would a werewolf pack be important to us?" Rebekah asked moving to Eve's left to look over the map.
"I will explain later sister, we have a time constraint" Percy replied also moving to the map
"Here" Eve pointed to a wide open area on the map that had a road running parallel to it. "You should head west from here for about three miles you will find what you are looking for there" Eve quickly rolled up the map again and nodded her head to him again before walking into the trees and disappearing. Percy sighed lightly, it seemed her fear of him was still large. He would need to offer her a peace offering of some sort to have her stop being afraid of him it would have no benefit for Hayley's family to be mortally terrified of him.
"Come little sister, it seems we have a new direction." Percy said smiling lightly at Rebekah and walking west. Rebekah shook her head but followed after her steadfast elder brother.
"Percy what are we doing exactly? Rebekah asked raising a perfect eyebrow and eyeing her question avoiding sibling. Percy gave a sigh as he stepped over a chopped down tree.
"We are here because Sophie called me last night with a peace offering, she told me that a certain werewolf pack had moved into the bayou. And that Klaus would be interested in meeting them" Percy explained frowning at the area in front of them.
"You don't mean Klaus's pack?!" Rebekah exclaimed her eyes widening in slight shock. They had never found out much about Klaus's real father, only that he was a werewolf chief who had fell in love with their mother.
"Sophie seemed to believe so, I'm simply trying to ascertain how much of it was true. I don't think she would lie though, she is already in a dangerous situation and adding fuel to the fire wouldn't be in her best interests" Percy shrugged running a hand over a claw mark on one of the trees they had past.
"Percy shouldn't you have told Klaus before we came out here?" Rebekah looked a bit alarmed by the recent development
"I didn't want to get his hopes up before I was sure, I'll call him immediately after I am certain of the information" Percy replied his eyes narrowed as the forest opened up into a clearing. There was several benches and a trailer home parked in the open area but no sign of anyone around. Percy knew better than to think they had abandoned the area.
Taking a deep smell of his surroundings his eyes shot over to the trees next to a dirt road.
"Where is everyone?" Rebekah asked kicking some of the trash left on the floor.
"They are watching us right now" Percy's eyes had never moved from the trees, he could tell there were at least twenty people around them, "It seems they have planned an ambush" Percy smirked at Rebekah who matched his grin.
"How positively foolish" Rebekah stated her grin turning dangerous.
"Now now Rebekah, we don't want to kill any of them. Might make a bad first impression" Percy rolled his shoulder and shook his hands in preparation.
A low growl came from the trees as someone burst out, a slightly skinny man wearing a grey sweater and blue jeans sprinted at them full pelt. Percy snorted before waving is hand, Rebekah blurred forward and wrapped her hand around his throat and lifting him into the air.
"That was anticlimactic" Rebekah snorted
Several more bodies dropped from the trees and sprinted to assist their captured friend. Percy sighed before blurring forward into their path. Giving them a glare he rammed his closed fist into ones stomach before grabbing him by the shirt and slamming his heaving body into his friend.
"I think that's enough" Percy smirked rubbing some imaginary dust off his hands. Rebekah dropped the werewolf she had suspended in the air by his feet and Percy looked down upon him.
"What do you want with us?" He stuttered.
"I have been informed I needed to meet you. Didn't expect an ambush though" Percy smiled down before noticing the necklace around his neck. A thin leather strap with a ring attached. Percy bent his knees getting close and took the ring in his fingers. The werewolf tried to lean away but Percy held on to the strap to prevent him from moving. He had seen this ring before, glancing at Rebekah he could tell she recognised it as well. Percy snapped the cord before holding the ring in his left hand and pulling out his phone from his pocket with his right. Dialing Klaus's number he narrowed his eyes at the ring once more before looking at the downed werewolf again.
"It seems we need to have a little chat"
There we go another chapter done. This was more of a filler chapter and I'm sorry it took so long. I've been working extra shifts and not had much in the way of free time to update. And unfortunately that is going to continue for a while, ill try and hurry the next chapter but I'm probably going to take a small break after this.
Anyway thanks for all the reviews you posted, I honestly didn't expect to have this many people interested in this story, not a normal crossover by any means but it was something that bounced round my head for ages.
