Ellie took the time to get her errands done, going to the market to stock up on supplies after stopping by the tailor shop to pick up her order. She stopped in the bakery before going up to her suite to ask if Molly needed any help and when the old woman shook her head no, Ellie made her way upstairs to unload everything. Once her groceries were put away and her dress- which had been repaired- was set with the rest of her clothing, Ellie got to cleaning and reorganizing things a bit. After an hour or so, a knock came at her door and she greeted her friends with a smile upon answering the door.
"Hey, Ellie, we're heading out for a girls' night in town. You free?"
"Ya, I actually got the rest of the day off. I was just finishing up with some chores."
"Great, feel like coming along?"
"Sure, just give me a moment to get cleaned up and changed?"
"Of course! We'll wait downstairs."
Ellie closed the door as her friends went downstairs to the bakery and she quickly washed her face, then changed into a fresh set of clothes. She brushed out her hair, leaving it hanging down in gentle waves, then grabbed her bag and headed out- locking the door behind her.
She and her friends went out and about, just wandering through the royal capital and visited the various stalls and vendors along the way before going to grab something to eat and a few drinks in the town square.
While they ate and drank, a group of musicians started playing music and soon tons of people were dancing to the melody- just having a blast. Ellie didn't care much for dancing, but she couldn't say no when her friends insisted that she join them. She let them drag her to the "dance floor" and sighed with a smile as she joined in the festivities.
Out on an evening patrol, Nozel was nearing the town square and heard the upbeat music echoing through the square over the clapping and laughter of the crowd. He scanned the area for a moment, stopping when he spotted Ellie amongst the dancers- appearing to have as much fun as the rest of them were. He watched as her body moved effortlessly to the beat of the music and was surprised when a mist of twilight danced around her as she moved.
Ellie's friends loved her magik and asked her to use some of it to add to the fun. She agreed, letting her mana manifest as a mist of twilight. She danced and danced, having more fun than she thought she would; it was something she definitely needed after a rough day. And as the song came to an end, Ellie spotted Nozel nearby- her face falling a moment before she offered her friends a smile as they pulled her away.
Nozel watched Ellie and her friends as they returned to their table, finding that he actually felt a bit bad about what happened earlier. He hadn't intended on being as harsh or disdainful towards her, but he had been having a bad day and his mood was worsened when he saw that Ellie was just taking the insults and mockery from his siblings.
'Why didn't she speak up? Why did she just let them walk all over her?' he wondered.
"Captain, everything looks good in the capital. The next shift will be here shortly to relieve us."
"Very well. Once they do, tell everyone they can have the rest of the night off."
"Of course, sir."
Nozel sighed, ready to be done with a very long day.
"Captain Nozel?"
Nozel glanced over, seeing that Ellie's friends had come over. "What is it?"
"Oh, we just wanted to thank you for the other night, when you saved us from those drunk men? We never got the chance to do so properly, so we'd like to offer you this as thanks."
Nozel looked down at the small container of assorted candies. He wasn't very fond of candies or sweet things, so he was about to decline the gift- until he heard them mention that Ellie helped pick them out. He glanced around, but didn't see Ellie nearby.
"I see." He took the container, seeing that the flavors were all of a fruity variety. He could tell it was on the pricier side, too, which meant that the girls likely pitched in to get it together. He offered them a soft bow of the head and thanked them for the gift before taking his leave.
While her friends were giggling with delight after Nozel had accepting their gift of thanks, Ellie had taken the chance to slip away. The large crowd was beginning to get to her and she needed to think clearly. She couldn't help but be reminded of how the Silvas had treated her earlier in the day and how Nozel seemed just as disdainful towards her as his siblings. Sighing, she took a few moment to herself and began wondering if things would ever be friendly between her and the Captain of the Silver Eagles.
