Sorry its been a while since the last update, with covid on its way out for us here in the UK, things are opening back up so it's been rather hectic and now I've started working pretty much full time again.

I'm determined to not let this end up sitting unfinished though, there's so many things I have planned in this that I can't wait to write. So I will get round to new chapters eventually it just might be a little longer between updates, especially now I've sometimes gotten into a habit of longer chapters than before, though I'm aiming for no longer than a month between them, at the very longest. I hope. We'll see.

Anyway enough serious stuff, Enjoy ;)

Green sighed. Red was late. It was Saturday morning, scratch that, afternoon, and today they were supposed to be going to Plat's for a party with her and Red's friends. He knew this was going to happen, he tried telling Red yesterday during lunch that he would be, and that he should just meet the raven at his house instead. However the taller male was adamant that he would get up early, and meet Green, especially because his own friends were saying that Green was right and that they didn't think he would get up either, and he didn't want to give them the satisfaction of being right. Of course however they had been, but Green and Plat had already planned for it.

At first he'd wanted to give the raven the benefit of the doubt, so he'd waited a little longer than he said he would to Plat, but it was an hour later and Red still wasn't responding to texts. Green concluded that he must've definitely slept through his alarms, or just shut them off without thinking and fallen back asleep. Putting his and Plats 'backup plans' into action, he grabbed his bag of stuff for the party and also now apparent sleepover, and headed out, walking towards the ravens home, hoping that Reds mum wouldn't mind him throwing cold water over her sleeping son.

Reaching the house, he knocked on the door, waiting a few seconds before it was answered by a pretty woman in her mid thirties wearing a hospital nurses uniform.

At first she looked above Greens head, probably expecting to see someone a bit taller than the teenager (which certainly didn't help Green's already upset attitude towards his height, 'I'm not even that short for my age' he thought), before she looked down slightly blinking her eyes at the brunet, probably unused to seeing someone his age so early in the day on a weekend, probably because of Red, "Oh, hello there, can i help you?".

He found himself feeling a little awkward and unsure what so say, he would have preferred to have been introduced to the ravens mother by him, rather than having to do it on his own, himself not having the most pleasant personal experience with own mother, "Um hi, I'm a friend of Red's, he was supposed to be meeting up with me to go to another friends but apparently he's running late".

Hearing this her curious gaze changed into a more excited one as she clocked on to the situation, "Ohhh, you must be Green. Please come in." Immediately gesturing the brunet inside without even waiting for a response.

Green felt rather relieved at the positive reaction from her, letting out a small smile, "Yes ma'am".

Reds mum chuckled, "Oh no need for that sweetie, just call me Sally" Green felt a bit awkward but nodded his head in agreement. Taking off his shoes at the door, and putting down his bag he followed Red's mum, Sally, inside. She turned to him, "Reds told me a lot about you" sounding like she was getting right to the point.

"He has?" the brunet immediately being concerned if that was a good or a bad thing, although still happy to hear that Red had talked about him at home.

"Yes, he's said that you've helped him a lot with his Physics, so I have to really thank you for that" pairing the words with a genuine thankful smile.

Green blushed, "Oh, that's... it's nothing" Sally tilted her head and pursed her lips slightly, silently saying to brunet that he shouldn't downplay his qualities. Feeling bashful, he moved the subject on, "So is he getting ready or is he actually still asleep?".

She laughed, "Take a wild guess" Green chuckled, of course he was still asleep. "Go up and wake him for me, I've already tried but seeing you should surprise him awake I think" some mischief in her voice at that last part.

Green took the tone as a good opportunity to ask, "Can I throw water on him?".

Her smile widened, "Be my guest".

"Great" he honestly never would have expected her to agree to that before he came, and maybe she was actually joking, but in the meantime he was definitely running with it, he'd deal with potential consequences later.

Green climbed up the stairs and towards the bathroom. He knew that this was a hundred percent going to get him killed, but decided it was going to be absolutely worth it. Partly filling up the cup that was next to the sink with water, he then headed to the ravens bedroom. To his luck, the door was already slightly ajar, probably from Sally's attempts at waking Red earlier, meaning he wouldn't have to make any noise to reach the sleeping male.

The room was dark from the curtains still being drawn, so getting to the bed was almost like an obstacle course, almost tripping at one point. He looked down at the sleeping figure below him; Red was laying on his front, snoring away, the covers had apparently found their way onto the floor during the night, meaning his bare back was wide open to attack.

"Red~" Calling out to him while he was asleep was starting to become an unexpected recurrence, the brunet thought to himself.

"Mmmmm" Red moaned, turning his head away, apparently now instead 'adamant' about not being woken up, obviously not also releasing this time it wasn't his mum trying to wake him.

Green felt better about at least giving him a chance to wake up in a nice way first, but was happy he was going to get this to play this satisfying prank on his sleepy friend. Green counted to three in his head, before pouring the cold water over the ravens back.

Red screamed, "WHAA, WHAT THE FUCK?!" pushing up off the bed tossing his head, looking side to side trying to figure what was happening, before finally noticing the brunet standing next to him.

"Wakey-wakey, dipshit. We're late." Green's tone condescending but very amused, smiling down cheekily at the raven whose face was transitioning from shock and confusion to extremely pissed off.

"GREEN, YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD!" he pounced towards the brunet, who dodged the newly awoken male with ease.

Keeping to his condescending tone, he taunted the exasperated teenager further, "Gunna have to catch me first, sleepy head" he laughed, running towards the door, feeling very happy about how well his plan worked.

"GET THE FUCK BACK HERE YOU LITTLE PRICK!" the brunets laughing only making him feel even more enraged. Chasing him out of the room, and down the stairs and then around the living room, not caring that he was still only in his underwear.

It eventually ended when Red pulled the smaller male over from the other side of the sofa that he was hiding behind, dragging him onto the floor and hovering over him, fist at the ready, gritting his teeth, breathing heavily from both fury and from the sudden exercise.

Green who was catching his breath too, surrendered, pretending to wave a white flag in his hand. Though the raven didn't relent, being determined to intimidate the brunet for once, as punishment for his very rude awakening.

It still didn't work though, as the brunet just shot him an unimpressed look before reprimanding the raven with a deadpan tone, "Get dressed, we're late".

"What?" Red spat, at first confused about what he was talking about, before realising that he wasn't even expecting Green to be in his house in the first place. At this moment he put two and two together, dropping his fist, "Shit, wait, what time is it?".

"12:45, we were supposed to be at Plats by like 1 at the latest, remember?"

Red quickly leant back up, "Fuck, i overslept".

"Yes, yes you did. Like i said you would yesterday, so here i am, like i said i should have been from the start" the brunet berated him again, still underneath him.

The raven rubbed his face, trying to get rid of the last of his grogginess, "Yeh yeh, rub it in asshole".

Sally walked in on them, unimpressed at her son's appearance in front of a guest, "Really Red, go put some clothes on" taking a sip from her coffee mug.

"But he-"

"Did you a favour and woke you up, yes." cutting him off, being on said guests side.

Red growled, "Screw you both, I'm taking a shower" getting off the brunet and quickly storming up the stairs, two steps at a time.

Green pulled himself back up onto the sofa and closed his eyes taking a needed rest from almost being beaten half to death by a crazed teen. He jumped slightly as he felt Sally sit down next to him on the sofa, looking at him with a slightly satisfied grin on her face herself.

"I take it from the death threats and the chasing that you actually threw water on him" she chuckled.

"Yeh, I think I'm lucky I'm actually not dead though to be honest" he laughed back dryly, there was honestly part of him that thought he was a goner.

"I think you are too, though it means he must really like you" she smiled at him. Green turned away hiding a blush at the comment.

"So Red told me that your parents are away a lot, you mind if I ask what they do?"

Green turned back to her, once again unprepared for something she said, "Oh, they're Zoologists, so they spend a lot of time in other regions studying different species and stuff".

Sally's eyes widened for a moment before quickly returning to normal, "Zoologists you say, how interesting" her tone more like she was thinking about it like it was a clue. Green would've inquired, but he noticed her staring off into space as she thought, occasionally taking a sip from her coffee.

Green turned away, beginning to stare off into space himself as he got lost in his own thoughts. He remembered Red talking about his mum the other day. Listening to him talk about her, he could tell that he loved his mum more than anything, explaining that even through all of his anger problems and tantrums she was fully there for him, doing her best to calm him down and make him feel better. He knew she worried about him a lot, which Red thought was definitely where he got that trait from too, especially as he worried about her just as much, saying that she worked too hard, and then had to come to a usually grumpy teenager. He really wanted her to have a break and some time to herself while she was off for the weekend, so was happy when Plat decided to turn it into an impromptu sleepover party as well, which at first Green thought they were a little old for, but realised he was never one to fit into the norm anyway.

His train of thought eventually came back round to what Sally had said when he first arrived. Looking back to her, he saw that she was still deep in thought herself, and felt slightly rude distracting her from them, but he was too curious, "So..." Getting her attention, "Can i ask what else Red's said about me?"

Sally giggled, "I guess it's not about how much he's said, more so how he sounded when he was saying it".

Green tilted his head, "Oh, how so?".

"Well, I haven't seen him smile this much when talking about someone since he first became friends with Ruby when he started high school, and there was only one time before that which was when he was in preschool".

"Really?" responding a little more enthusiastically than he was planning on letting on.

Sally hadn't missed it either, smiling as she continued, "Mmhmm, like I said, it means he must really like you" Green blushed again, again not sure how to respond to the information. He knew that Red saw him as a friend, but never imagined he'd had that much impact on him.

This time it was Sally pulling Green from his thoughts, "Though there is something that he didn't tell me that I'm curious to know." Green looked to her, curious as to what she was going to ask, "Your last name isn't Oak by any chance is it?".

Green blinked at her surprised, "Yeh it is, how did you know?" Wondering how she did if Red hadn't told her.

"Just had a hunch" Dismissing the question slightly, taking another sip of her coffee.

"Really, have you met my parents before or something?" Green didn't want to press and be rude, but he was too invested.

Her response was rather nonchalant, "I guess i might have done, though i could've read about them somewhere instead, i'm not too sure".

"Oh, okay" Green wasn't fully satisfied with the answer, and thought how he could tactfully keep pushing. Though before he could ask her anything else, he was cut off by a loud scramble down the stairs. Red emerged, hair still a little damp from the shower, carrying his bag on his back. He was wearing a red, football (soccer) jersey style shirt that had white hems on the short sleeves and a white collar (which of course he'd popped like on his uniform polo). Also sporting some grey sweat shorts that reached down to just above his knees. From what Green could see, both were a little on the tighter side, with his biceps almost filling out the sleeves and a slight bulge poking through the shorts. It took all of his willpower not to be pervy and stare, Green already found Red attractive to begin with, now it was as if the raven was purposely trying to get him to drool over him.

Sally looked him up and down before sighing, "I know you get hot easily but it's still a little cold to be wearing shorts don't you think?".

Red rolled his eyes, "Don't worry, I've got jeans in my bag mum" grabbing his hat off the coffee table.

She raised an eyebrow, "What about a jacket?".

"Don't push your luck" he responded bluntly but in a nice way (something the raven had perfected), adjusting his hat to the right place over his hair.

She turned away, "Don't say i didn't warn you" trilling back in a cliché condescending mum way.

Red gave in, "I'll be fine, stop worrying" hopefully appeasing his mother before turning to the brunet next to her, "Come on, lets go" gesturing by nodding his head in the direction of the door.

Green, still feeling a little flustered from the ravens appearance, did his best to act normal, "R-Right" failing slightly.

Red scrunched his eyebrows, "You okay?" a little concerned by the brunet's demeanor.

The brunet got up, smiling back, but not fully looking at him, "Yeh, I'm good". Red stared at him for a little longer, hoping to get a better answer, but soon noticed the brunet instead blushing under his gaze. He smirked, not the response he was expecting but he was happy to imagine it was because of how he looked, i mean, a tight top and grey sweatpants were a guys way to get a girl (or in this case, boy) to notice him right? Of course, little did he know of how successful he'd actually been.

Pulling his eyes away from the smaller male, he turned back to Sally, "See you later mum" kissing her on the cheek.

"Bye sweetheart, behave yourself" that last part in that condescending mum tone again.

"Yeh, yeh" Red replied, already walking to the door. Green and Sally waved and smiled at each other, before Green followed him to the door.

Sally watched as the two boys put on their shoes, grabbed their bags and walked through the door. Upon hearing it shut she immediately put down her mug and got up, walking up the stairs to the hallway between the bedrooms and bathroom, using the string that was dangling down from above, she pulled down on the hatch in the ceiling, releasing the stairs that lead to the attic. Turning on the light which dimly lit the dusty room, she rummaged around before she found an old box that said 'Red' and 'Preschool' on the side, she opened it up and started looking through,

"I wonder..." she said to herself.

Ten minutes had gone by since they'd left Red's, and the raven hadn't said a word, Green figured he was still a little upset by the little wake up prank he pulled earlier. He only felt a little sorry, considering that it had gotten him in and back out with Red in under twenty minutes, which he was sure was probably a record for the raven, although actually, the amount of times he's been late to school, probably not.

Green rolled his eyes, having had enough of the silence, "Are you gunna say anything to me, or are you gunna sulk like a scalded child?"

"Nope" he said sternly. 'Definitely still upset then', the brunet thought.

He still wasn't going to let him have this one however, "Well then you failed cause you just said something to me".

Red tensed for a second, realising that he was right, "Fuck off" holding back the annoyance in his response, not wanting to give him the satisfaction.

"Would you like me to apologise?" he asked somewhat half-heartedly.

Red was silent.

The brunet sighed, "I'm sorry i soaked you, but you got to admit that it worked, and you deserved it at least a little" he was never that great at giving sincere apologies when he wasn't fully sorry.

"Not the point" he huffed.

"I guess, but you know that's the best your gunna get out of me" the brunet chirped, hoping the light jest would maybe get a more positive reaction from the other male.

Red let out a low growl in disapproval instead.

Green smirked to himself, knowing what would do the trick to break his 'almost silent treatment', "Fine, guess i'll just have to chat with Ruby instead, im sure he'd love to hear all about it".

Red whipped his head to glare at him, "Don't you fucking dare".

The brunet laughed, "Gotcha" winking cheekily at him. Red just looked away again, gritting his teeth slightly, the brunet was really testing his patience a lot for so early in the day. "Come on Red, were supposed to be having fun, aren't we?" knocking into him gently.

The raven sighed, he couldn't stay mad at Green for long, "Fine." he turned back to him, "How are you on this oh so lovely day?" Sarcasm heavily ingrained in the words, though the brunet elected to ignore it.

"I'm good on this oh so lovely day, thank you very much" mimicking the other males sarcasm a little. But truthfully he felt anxious, his tone going back to normal, and a little serious, "Though to be honest I'm a little nervous.".

"Why?" the concern for his friends sudden change in attitude, overpowering the current little grudge against him.

"Don't get me wrong I know it's gunna be fun and it'll be fine, but the me from a couple years ago is telling me I must be mad to go to a party with just you guys there, without at least Blue and the others as backup".

"Oh. Right." Red looked down, feeling a little guilty. He knew that Green would be fine and that he knew that, but he definitely still understood where the brunet's feelings were coming from, if this was just two years ago, he would've most likely been torn to shreds by Ruby, Pearl and Plat.

Green felt a little bad now, he wasn't trying to make the raven feel guilty. Doing his best to undo the mistake, "It's fine, to be honest even if they all weren't the 'halfway to friends' we are to each other now, i wouldn't just hide in a corner anymore at the verbal or physical abuse".

Red perked up a little, "Really?".

He smirked cockily, "Not a chance, if I'm not scared of you, you really think I'm scared of them?".

The raven chuckled at that, "Good point".

"If you can't shut me up, you think they could?" he joked.

Red laughed, feeling better now, though secretly a little annoyed at himself that Green ended up comforting him when he should've been the one doing the comforting. But that was Green for you.

Thinking back to the smaller males words, he knew himself and the others weren't some 'Class A' criminals readjusting to society or anything, but it was still nice to know that Green overall didn't have any grievances or current bad opinions of them, considering they were basically the high school equivalent to it.

Looking back to him again, he noticed for the first time what he was actually wearing. Green was sporting an oversized plain purple hoodie, underneath a black denim jacket with a white fur collar. He also wore a necklace with a clear gem at the end peeking from under the hoodie. The waist down, he was wearing some black skinny jeans with some rips on the front and some purple hi-top converse on his feet, which nicely matched his hoodie. The overall outfit wasn't anything spectacular, but to Red it somehow still made him look very cute. Coming to the decision that Green could probably wear anything and he'd still think he looked hot.

"I like your necklace" was all he could say, when he'd realised that Green had caught him staring. Again. "Where'd you get it?".

"Huh? Oh." Green didn't even realise it was on show, pulling it out from underneath his hoodie, giving a better look "My grandfather gave it to me when i turned ten, it's an heirloom apparently, i think my dad was a little jealous that he didn't get it, but surprise surprise, they don't really get on".

"Fair enough. It's very... eye catching" was the best he could come up with, trying his best to compliment him, not usually being one for words.

He scoffed, "Thanks, but kinda rich coming from you right now".

"Whadda ya mean?" Red asked innocently, but he knew exactly what the brunet was talking about.

"Come on, the top screams 'look at my muscles' and the shorts scream 'look at my dick'" he chuckled, gesturing to each area as he mentioned them.

Red smirked cheekily, "So you noticed?" twitching his brows up and down flirtily.

The brunet crossed his arms, "I think the whole world noticed".

"What, you jealous or something?" Red teased, hoping to get a positive reaction out of him.

Green wasn't going to lose what he thought was a joking battle however, "Only in your dreams" retorting back to the ravens fake (but not actually fake) flirt.

Red kept smirking back in response, though honestly just happy that Green hadn't told him to stop being weird. Relieved to know he wasn't grossed out by a hint of gay banter.

The brunet did however decide to change the subject, secretly worried he'd be the one who'd end up making it weird, "How was last period yesterday anyway? You said you were dreading it".

He was answered by a loud gravelly sigh, "Don't even, i took Physical Education as a subject so I could play sports and do something interesting, not sit in a classroom and learn about the fucking circulatory system, if i wanted to learn that i would have just taken Biology" he ranted, already getting a little annoyed just by the thought.

Green chuckled, "Did you like, not read about the subject syllabus in the prospectus before you applied?".

Red blinked at him, the sentence having gone right over his head, "I have no idea what you just said".

"I'll take that as a no" rolling his eyes at the taller males idiocy and looking forward, then immediately turning back to him as a concerning thought appeared, "Wait, does that mean you don't know about being support for the younger years?".

The raven looked at him with a blank expression, "Wha?".

"Don't you remember like when we were in first year and sometimes a sixth former would help out in gym class, that's what you'll be doing at some point" the brunet emphasising that last part, knowing how dense the other male could be.

"Wait, I thought they were doing that because they were bored or something" the realisation slowly reaching him.

"Nope"

His eyes widened, "FUCK!" he rubbed his face as he moaningly contemplated this new information, "That's its, I'm gunna get kicked out for punching some annoying little 12 year old twat, aren't I?" moving his hands and looking to other male as he asked.

Green laughed, "I mean I hope not, i may as well just quit Physics if you're not there" he said without thinking.

"R-right" Red felt himself slowly begin to blush as the words processed in his head. He turned away, unable to find what to say in response to the brunet's unknowingly sweet comment.

Before he could feel anymore embarrassed he was saved by Green, who had been oblivious the whole time. "I think we're here" stopping outside a relatively large house that he indeed recognised as Plat's. "Come on, then" was all he heard before he could say anything was being led up the driveway by the oblivious brunet.

'This was definitely going to be a struggle', the raven thought, reaching the front door to what was going to probably be a mentally exhausting experience.

Hey there, me again, just something I'd like to talk/ask about I guess. Don't worry, you can ignore my rambles if you want. I don't mind.

Basically, recently I've seen a lot more people talking about shipping 16/17 year old characters explicitly (especially gay ships, which annoys me cause they should be treated no different to straight ships, but that's a rant for another time), in that because they're under 18 its wrong.

And tbh I can kinda understand where they're coming from but for me personally, I don't fully agree. In the UK the Age of Consent is 16, and there's plenty of fiction here, written and on tv, that mentions characters of these ages somewhat explicitly (obviously with tv or film anything visually explicit happens off screen, that would defo be illegal). And lets be real, pretending that all 16/17 yo's are basically asexual is kinda ridiculous, imo at least.

So I guess when I first saw people talking about it I was kinda confused, but now realising that it's obviously different elsewhere, and most people reading this aren't from the UK, maybe not everyone would be comfortable with full explicit stuff.

To get to the point, I was originally planning on writing explicit stuff later in the story, and so far that's still my plan (I will change ratings and stuff accordingly when we get there). But if a lot of people are uncomfortable with that, let me know, if enough people ask id happily not do that for y'all.

I dunno, am I being stupid worrying about this? Also take a shot for every time I said the word 'explicit' in all that wow.

Ah well, hope you enjoyed this chapter, see you soon :)
