They were just walking to their car as always when Cass noticed something unusual. It was just a blink of light, somewhere high up.

Cass reacted without thinking and threw herself onto Lena and them both to the ground. She was on top, shielding Lena from any harm. The CEO let out a yelp of surprise when she felt herself being tackled to the ground.

The rang of a shot could be heard and it all went blurry when she hit her head on the ground. Cass pushed the button on her clock, while still shielding Lena from any danger.

The driver had jumped back into the car and all around them people were running away, screaming. Cass tried to locate the place the sniper must have shot from, but she couldn´t make it out from the position she was in. Good, she thought, then the sniper would not be able to see us as well.

Lena started to move under her, trying to get up, so she pushed her down again and said: "Stay down. We are safe here."

Lena complied but Cass could sense that the other woman was shaking: "It´s ok. Supergirl is already on her way."

She was right. Not even five seconds later she could see Supergirl touching down next to them: "Are you alright? Is anyone hurt?"

Cass shook her head, as Lena was still too much in shock to answer: "Can you bring us back inside safely? There was a sniper on one of these buildings just a minute ago." She pointed in the general direction she had seen the light from.

Supergirl nodded and escorted them inside, her cape shielding them from any danger. Cass tried to pull Lena up, but the other woman nearly fell to the floor again.

Without missing a beat, she slung one arm under Lena´s knees and the other one supported her back. Supergirl asked in a panicked voice while walking them inside: "Are you sure she is alright?"

Cass nodded: "I think she hit her head when I pushed her to the ground. The bullet went into the window behind us. She will be fine in a few minutes. Just dizzy."

As soon as they were in the elevator Supergirl took off to find the sniper. Lena seemed to come to her senses while the elevator took them back up to her office. She grimaced and touched the back of her head with one still shaky hand: "I think I am fine now. You don´t have to carry me all the way up."

Cass answer came quickly, and it was clear she would not budge: "No way. Head wounds can be tricky. You are staying seated until you got checked out. I won´t put you down only for you to fall and hit your head even harder."

They made it into her office without another incident. They were alone, as Jess was already at home. Cass lowered Lena on her couch gently and seated herself next to her: "Can I have a look at that?"

She pointed at Lena head and the CEO nodded, she was exhausted and did not want to fight her obviously concerned bodyguard. Lena pushed herself up a bit more, so she was more sitting than lying.

She felt the dizziness return for a short second and closed her eyes. A few seconds later she felt better and opened her eyes again, looking at Cass to show her approval.

Cass stood to get a better view of the point Lena´s head had connected with the floor. There was no blood, but it was starting to swell a bit. She tried to feel if the skin was cut in any place, but I wasn´t the case luckily. She felt Lena tense under her, even though she was as gently as possible.

She drew her hands back and moved quickly to the small fridge that stood next to Jess table. After pulling out an ice pack she wrapped it into a kitchen cloth and returned to Lena: "Here put this on, it will slow the swelling."

Lena smiled slightly she was thankful for it as her head had started to hurt. Cass made a few other tests with Lena, but in the end, it was just a concussion. She let herself fall down next to her employer and looked at the other woman: "Are you alright? I mean mentally?" She prepared herself for another rebuke from the other woman, like the one she had gotten last week, but thankfully it did not happen this time.

After swallowing the pain meds Cass had brought her together with the ice, she answered in a shaky voice: "I don´t know. You would think I was getting used to this feeling by now. As often as I get attacked but it still gets me by surprise."

She stopped herself as her voice nearly betrayed her. Leading a company like L-Corp was struggle enough but all those attacks. She never got enough sleep, because she woke up at night fearing someone had broken into her house, even if it was just wind jamming against her window or any other sound that set her on edge.

Cass just nodded not expecting her to say more, she had understood: "I know the feeling."

Lena concentrated on her face. How could she know? Cass continued: "I wake up at night so often, when I have a dream about my time with." She stopped and spoke on: "with the army. When I get one of those, I won´t sleep the rest of the night at all."

Lena nodded softly not wanting to cause herself any more pain than she already had. The security tablet on the table blinked and showed two people making their way upstairs with the elevator.

Cass looked at it and said: "Just Alex and Kara." As soon as the two women had arrived on their floor, Kara speeded towards them and looked between both of them not sure on whom she should check first.

Cass looked at Alex and said: "I am fine. I already checked Lena out, only a concussion, no blood, no problems with her sight. I gave her some pain meds about two or three minutes ago. You can check her out as well if you want too."

Alex smiled sadly: "I believe in your judgment, but I have to check on her officially for my report. Let me take a look at that."

She moved towards Lena who looked anything else than pleased but let her continue without complaining.

Kara hugged Cass tightly then let her go again: "I was in the middle of writing the article about L-Corp when I got your message. I came as fast as I could."

She started to ramble, so Cass cut her of: "You were right on time, Kar. We will be fine."

She threw a look at Lena with whom Alex was nearly finished: "Did you get the sniper?"

Kara looked sad and angry, and her answer was quiet: "No, I am sorry. I found the weapon, but the attacker was already gone. I had no chance finding him in that chaos. The DEO and the police are evaluating the scene now."

Lena spoke up from her place on the couch: "That is not your fault Kara. You brought us both to safety, you can´t do two things at the same time."

Kara smiled sadly at her and wrapped her arms around Lena as Alex had finished her check-up: "I am simply happy that you are both ok. That was so close."

Her gaze turned to Cass: "How did you even notice the sniper before he shot?"

"I saw something flashing up at the building. I don´t know, I just knew it and jumped.", Cass tried to remember anything else, but there was nothing: "Do we have to make our statements with the police or with the DEO?"

Alex answered: "To be honest, I don´t think your statements will be necessary. There are about ten cameras that have filmed it all and I don´t know how many handy videos and pictures that the people took with private phones. There is nothing else you can tell us."

Cass nodded gravely. She had thought that much.

Lena sighed deeply: "I know what will be all over the news tomorrow. At least it´s weekend."
