Dual Fates

Chapter 8: Gossip

Through the halls, as they headed to lunch, they were about to pass class 1-A until a crowd of students that were clogging up the entirety of the door was seen whispering among themselves. "Hm?" Uviel's blue gaze blinked at the sight of the students who seemed to gawk at their classroom. "Hey, what's up with them?" the redhead's finger pointed in their direction when she asked and felt her best friend yank on her bicep. "H- Hey!" A groan left her lips the moment she was forced into a sprint and shielded herself only to get pulled into the classroom from the other side of the crowd.

"UV-Ray, he's in here!" Har-Har, who shouted with enthusiasm and beamed brightly, got behind her. Her hands were on both of Uviel's shoulders, the brunette gently pushed her towards the darker redhead who, including everyone else, grew surprised by their sudden approach. However, hearing Ochaco scream out as to why the students were surrounding them, made both of the girls confusedly looked in her direction.

Ida's hand rose stiffly to his side and his stern eyes glued themselves to the students. "What business do you have with class A?" Tenya's question was soon followed by the boy with balls on his head, who claimed that they couldn't get out and asked what they were there for.

"Scouting out the enemy, small fry," Bakugo's voice met their ears as he passed them by and the two girls who were near the door. She and Uviel's eyes both followed the boy who carried his school bag over his shoulder, not even a glance was given in return. "We're the ones who made it out of the Villain's attack," he began and those words caught the brunette's ears. "They probably wanna check us out before the sports festival. There's no point in doing stuff like that..." he added and soon stood before the crowd of students who all gazed upon his form. "Out of the way, extras...!" his last words were followed by a scowl on his face after he lowered it and glared sharply at the contemplating students.

Yukimura's ear twitched and kept her eyes in place while she listened in on him. Her fingers twitched for a second until she pushed Uviel further towards the darker redhead and grinned. "Hey, she wants to eat lunch with you!" As Bakugo was being confronted from behind by Tenya, who tried scolding him for the name-calling, their conversation was drowned out by the embarrassment on the cybernetic girl's face.

Uviel shrunk and quickly bushed the hood over her features when her best friend pointed that out. "Sure, I don't see why not!" Kiri beamed brightly with a smile that could even outshine the sun itself and blushed at how shy the girl was being. "Right now, getting out would almost be impossible," Soon, his red eyes looked over and viewed the commotion that was going on.

"I came to see what the famous Class 1-A was like, but you seem pretty arrogant. Are all of the students in the hero course like this?" Shinso, who made his way in the doorway and faced the tempered boy, questioned with little to no care if he was angering anyone or not. Once he got through, a hand reached up behind his head and rubbed it. "Seeing something like this makes me disillusioned," as soon as he said that, purple eyes rose to meet everyone else's and a frown remained on his lips. "There are quite a few people who enrolled in general studies or other courses because they didn't make it into the hero course. Did you know that?" With a tilt of his head, he asked, and watched Bakugo glare dangerously in return. "The school has left those of us a chance. Depending on the results of the sports festival, they'll consider our transfer into the hero course." after the boy explained, his eyes continued to gaze into dangerous ones that never seemed to falter.

"And it seems they may also transfer people out," those words made a few people uneasy in the class and Uviel grew surprised at that. Though, she didn't care too much to be a hero, she only applied to the school to honor her parents. However...Haru's fingers twitched slightly at those words and he continued to talk about the festival. His declaration of war made a very well hidden, almost sadistic smirk play at her lips and allowed shade to veil over her eyes.

Everyone in the class stared at the boy in the doorway as a few students mentally exclaimed in unison, unbeknownst to the two girls.

"Hey, hey! I'm from Class B next door!" From behind the students, a voice shouted and soon a boy with white hair exclaimed with a fist risen; intimidating, scary, he seemed as he barged through the wall of students. "I heard you fought against villains, so I came here to hear about it! Don't get so full of yourself!" his words made everyone ponder the same thing about him being a bit...too bold. "If you bark too much, it'll be embarrassing for you durin' the real fight!" the silver-haired boy was furious and once he watched Bakugo walk away, his anger rose. "You ignorin' me, bastard?!" Fury, nothing seemed to anger him more when he continued to ignore him, which only made Kirishima try and gain the dirty-blonde haired boy's attention.

"Wait a minute, Bakugo! What are you gonna do about all of this?!" the darker redhead that seemed to sweat slightly, questioned the said boy who only halted in his steps. Their conversation continued from there and the girls simply blinked at the display, watching the whole scene play out before them. Uviel's eyes peeked over at Eijiro as he pumped a fist and mumbled something about being manly, though...

During their conversations, the cybernetic girl decided to face Yukimura, which the brunette quickly snapped out of her dark thoughts after sensing her best friend doing so. "Hey, Har-Har, I still need to figure out how to use the vibrations manipulator... Maybe I should go ask Hatsume later, if I have time?" asked the girl and allowed those blue hues to twinkle in hope of having help from her best friend.

"Haha, sure!" Another, blindingly bright grin spread across her lips, the moment she answered and let an excited giggle escape. During their own conversations, no one noticed Shinso and the silver-haired one in the crowd gawk at the two as they stood near the darker redhead.

Shinso's contemplative purple eyes gazed upon the brunette curiously and saw her incredibly beaming smile, though...that wasn't the only thing he saw. Something more sinister is what he felt, when he took notice of that odd, dark grin at the mention of his declaration of war a moment ago. Something's not right, with her... his nearly careless monologue echoed when he stuffed his hands into his pockets.

Not that far behind him was the silver-haired boy whose sharp black hues examined all of Class 1-A's students, he wanted to see the competition and when he did...his eyes laid upon a certain cybernetic girl who continued to converse with the brunette. Large blotches of red spread across his cheeks at the sight of her and his jaw hysterically dropped. "GAAAAAAAAAH!" he nearly freaked out about her odd, cybernetic beauty, that he could barely see no thanks to the hood on her head. He watched Uviel bicker with her best friend when she reached behind her and yanked the hood off, which only made his red face worse...

"Har-Har!" the redhead exclaimed and was about to pull her hood back over until her hand halted in place. Eyes wide from realization, her mouth hung slightly open when she remembered that she didn't have to wear her hood in school anymore. "It's just a bad habit, sorry..." those blue hues averted to the side and pink tints dusted her cheeks at her own antics.

Later that day, the girls made it to the cafeteria and sat with Kirishima who acted so energetic over the upcoming sports festival. "Hahaaaaaaaaaaaa! I can't wait! I'll train hard every day until then!" the darker redhead's fist pumped into the air and his open, toothy grin spread across his lips. Those red eyes were closed the moment he leaned back and laughed, pure excitement radiated off of his frame.

"You're really looking forward to this, aren't you?" Saito's words reached his ears and caused his gaze to meet hers, not once did his smile falter. She didn't see Izuku and Tenya walk over to their table, taking their seats across from Haru.

"And you're not?" Midoriya questioned the cybernetic girl and watched her jump out of her seat, panicking from their sudden appearance.

"AH!" the girl simply squeaked out and fell out, resulting in her head hitting the floor. She was lucky that her tray didn't flip or go down with her, otherwise, she'd have to change clothes... Haru's hard laughter caused her to lean over the table and hold her gut, however, Kiri didn't just sit there.

The boy rushed out of his seat and ran to her, concern was clear in his eyes until his face flushed red. Her skirt...was flipped...thankfully her black and cybernetic patterned, spats pants kept her lower region safe from other eyes. "S- Saito!" quickly he helped her up, bending over to help secure her balance as she slowly stood to her feet. "You ok?!" those wide eyes and frowning lips showed just how worried he was for her.

"Y- Yeah... Thanks..." nothing but pink tinted her cheeks when she averted her eyes to her brown shoes, she didn't want to see those red eyes viewing her own.

"I'm so sorry, it was my fault!" Izuku jumped out of his seat, ran around, and bowed countless times as an apology, which only made the cyber-girl confusedly blink.

"I- It's...fine..." those blue hues moved to the side and her finger lifted to scratch at her cheek nervously. Soon, the boys who were downright concerned for the girl's jump-scare moment, eventually returned to their seats and Uviel was about to do the same.

"I'm sorry for laughing, UV-Ray! You know me, I can't pass up a good jump scare, otherwise, I would've told ya they were coming over!" Haru busted out laughing again and ate her food, just to earn a playful slap to her shoulder by her friend.

"Can you not, be mischievous for one day...?!" yelled the brighter redhead who seemed utterly annoyed, however, when she was about to sit down something caught her ears. A couple of girls passed her by about a foot away from her backside and snickered on their way by, saying something that made her freeze in place.

"Hahahaha, look at her skin...~ What, is she emo? Doesn't she know that cutting herself would only make her look worse...?" One girl said as she nearly passed the redhead and those words caused a shade to veil over her blue eyes.

"I know right and she's as pale as a ghost, too...! What is she, a walking mannequin?" the other girl asked her friend and finally passed the redhead up, carrying their trays. Though she didn't notice, her best friend heard every word and those blind hues turned incredibly dark.

"Saito, what's wrong?" Izuku's attention caught the sight of her quivering lip and her watering eyes, while her muffled whimpers caught Kirishima's ears.

Very slowly Uviel's shaking hand reached into her hoodie's pocket and pulled out her black leather mask, she was about to put it on. "What's wrong?! Why are you crying?!" Eijiro rose from his seat and ran to her, trying to figure out what was wrong before gently grasping her quivering hand.

She refused to look up at the boy, her mind kept replaying those words on loop mode and those eyes continued to stare at her own shaking hand. Flashes of her old school life, before she reached U.A, kept showing students in middle school who were passing by laughing at her; making fun of her lines and pale complexion. No boy's ever gonna want a robot like you! You're a cyber freak! It's the terminator's child, hahaha! Those words and many more replayed countless times, along with what those girls said about her.

What snapped her out of her own dark memories was when her best friend yanked her forward and sat her down in her seat, then wrapped her arms around her small frame. The brunette's head laid over UV-Ray's shoulder and those hazed green hues bore dangerously into the backsides of those girls, which continued to gossip about her best friend. Nothing but darkness in her eyes could be seen when they narrowed, something about her expression just screamed murderous as it hid from everyone else behind her bangs. "Shhh... It's okay...I'm here, don't let their words get to you..." her mumbled voice reached her ears and her friendliness had dropped during that moment.

The feel of Uviel clenching onto her forearms and the heavy hicks that were buried into her bicep, made one of her own hands tighten. "What, who? What happened?!" Kirishima and Izuku both asked in unison and viewed the dangerously protective brunette for answers.

"Those girls spoke badly about her... It's nothing that you or anyone need to worry about, anymore..." Creepy, dangerous, this time a smirk didn't form over her lips, and instead, nothing but a killing intent could be seen in those hazed hues.

"I'll show them, just wait he-" before Kirishima got to finish his sentence when he rose from his seat and shot the two girls across from him a stern look, Haru cut him off with her own words.

A bright smile soon replaced that death glare she had and looked over at the boy, only to earn a confused expression in return. "Don't worry, I'll take care of it! I'll get Mr. Aizawa on them about their gossips!" A tight squeeze with her arms nearly made her best friend suffocate from the force, making her hysterically tap at her arm. Looking down with a gasp then letting go, the brunette watched her best friend take in deep breaths of air as though all air was sucked out of her lungs. "Haha, sorry!" exclaimed the snake-girl, when her hand nervously rubbed the back of her head and allowed a few giggles to escape.

"Hey, Saito!" a very familiar voice rang and met with everyone's ears, causing all heads to view Ochaco who stood next to a girl with pink hair. "Wanna hang with us later? We're going to go train after this and we'd love for you to join us!" excitement beamed on her face after she asked and large stars spun in her eyes.

"Um...I..don't know, maybe..." Uviel was about to reject once her gaze turned away from them and wiped tears from her eyes. However, the girl with pink hair and Ochaco both noticed the slightly reddened eyes, which only made concerned faces form.

"Of course, she will!" Haru's fist pumped into the air when her smile brightened, she sensed that they grew worried all of a sudden at the sight of Uviel's mess so she chose to try and keep the atmosphere light. "I'll make sure she tags along! Besides, I have something I need to do before I go train. It's actually really important.~" her eyes closed and giggles left her lips after she answered, with a gentle pat on her best friend's shoulder.

"Cool, okay! Meet us at the training grounds, you can practice there with us! I'm Mina Ashido, by the way!" Ashido's grin broadened and gave Saito a soft wave of her hand, before skipping happily next to Uraraka once they took their leave. They didn't even let the brighter redhead have a chance to respond, therefore, all she got to say was...

"O...kay... Damn, I didn't even get to say anything..." mumbled the cybernetic girl as she sunk into her seat and nibbled at what was left of her lunch.

"Don't worry, you'll do great!" Hearing that from Kirishima, made Uviel's blue hues widen and pink dust her cheeks. "You got this!" So much energy came from him when he exclaimed and stood...in...his seat again, pumping a fist. A large, toothy grin plastered and red eyes glued to blue ones until Haru did the same.

"Yeah, go Uviel! Hahahaha! I bet you'd blow them away with your Tremor staff, go kick some ass!" Beamed an overly excited Haru as she and the darker redhead laughed, which in turn, only made Saito face-plant into her tray out of embarrassment.

Izuku found their antics rather amusing and hilarious, while Tenya rose out of his seat and kept lecturing them for standing in their own. "Again, you two...?" Mr. Aizawa's voice caught everyone's attention, except for Uviel who didn't seem to care, and an awkward silence seemed to fill the air. "Sit down, the both of you... Before I make you," as he stood there only a couple of feet away from their booth, holding his tray, his eyes brightly shone and his scarf began to flail.

Without hesitation they both instantly panicked and sat down, keeping their attention on their own trays. After that, the teacher returned to normal and left the two in a profusely sweating mess.

Suddenly, Uviel's lips were shown in side-view and they curled up, letting muffled giggles leave after she rose her head slightly. For once, she laughed, a genuine giggle from hearing their teacher get after them and only Haru managed to pick up on it.
