Chapter 8: Attacked/First Fight/Morphing

Rita adjusted the Repulsascope on the Lunar Palace's balcony. Goldar stood next to her. He emitted a soft growl. She looked into it, seeing Tommy, Kim, Jason, Trini, Billy, and Kim continue their trek through the desert. She observed Tommy and Jason letting go of Kim and Trini's hands and putting their arms around their shoulders.

"Those stupid teenagers don't know who they're messing with," Rita hissed and gritted her teeth. She pulled back and looked at Goldar. "Get the Putties." She squealed in great delight. "It's time."

"Oh, yes," Goldar agreed and laughed. "It will be my pleasure to dispose of them, my queen."

Goldar let out a loud whistle. The Putties came into the throne room while waving their arms about. He charged down the stairs as Rita turned around. He went in front of them. They teleported to Earth. She approached the railing. She narrowed her eyes at it.

"All right." Rita said while grabbing her wand with her other hand. "That that!"

Rita fired a red energy beam at Earth. It struck a large boulder behind the group, causing it to explode. Debris flew into the air. Tommy, Kim, Jason, Trini, Billy, and Zack ducked to avoid it.

"Everyone, stay down!" Jason called sternly.

"What the hell was that?" Trini asked.

Kim swallowed hard. "I have no idea."

Tommy tensed badly. "Me neither."

Just then, Putties appeared and surrounded the teens. They garbled and gibbered as they waved their arms about. Tommy, Kim, Jason, Trini, Billy, and Zack felt their hearts begin to pound.

"Hey," Billy whispered in a fearful voice.

"Look out!" Zack shouted.

Two Putties made their way toward Kim, who felt her body shake uncontrollably. Another backflipped behind her, landing gracefully. It and another Putty grabbed her arms. She tried to pull herself out of their grasp, but she couldn't.

"Let go of me, you bastards!" Kim screamed fiercely.

The other Putties ran all over the place. Their garbles and gibbers filled the air. Jason looked toward Tommy and Zack. All three boys formed fighting stances. They growled in much determination and ferocity.

"Tommy, Zack!" Jason shouted, panting hard.

"Right! These two are mine," Zack said as he pointed his finger at two Putties.

Tommy focused his attention on another Putty. "This one belongs to me."

Zack narrowed his eyes at the Putties. He broke into a dance, which caused them to garble in confusion. They charged at him. The first Putty attempted to grab him, missing when he ducked. He rose to his full height and kicked it in the back. It became angry and turned around. It threw a punch, only for him to catch its fist in his hand. He pushed it away with a snarl. He swept its feet out from underneath it with a swing of his arm. This threw it on its back.

The second Putty grabbed Zack. It delivered multiple punches to his stomach. He kicked in the chest, causing it to stumble backward. It garbled in anger and backhanded him across the face roughly. He stumbled off to the side, yet he didn't fall. He backflipped as both Putties charged at him. They collided with each other. They fell to the ground, loud groans leaving their mouths. He panted heavily while forming a fist.

Jason kicked a Putty in the chest. He performed a backflip as another leapt at him. Another Putty grabbed him from behind. It wrapped its arms around him. He elbowed it in the chest in which he freed himself. He turned around and gave it three uppercuts to the chin. He took hold of its arm. He twirled it around five times before letting go of it. It collided with a bush and fell down. It rubbed its head. He clenched his teeth.

"Never look a gift Putty in the mouth," Jason joked. He saw another Putty rushing at him and went after it.

Tommy held up his arm to block a punch from a Putty. He punched it in the nose before uppercutting it in the chin twice. It swung its arm at him. He ducked, which made it miss. He returned to his full height to chop it in the neck. It fell on its stomach, groaning softly. He was grabbed from the side by another Putty. He jammed his elbow into its side, freeing himself.

Tommy jabbed his thumbs into the Putty's eyes. It rubbed at them frantically. He leapt over its head, bouncing off a large boulder and dropkicking it in the back. It flew through the air, crashing into its charging companion. They both ended up in a heap on the ground. They groaned and held their heads. Tommy looked down at them and smirked. He flared his nostrils before balling his hand into a fist.

"I hope that trip was a nice one, boneheads!" Tommy quipped and waved at the Putties. He headed for another Putty as it charged at him.

Kim kicked a Putty in the stomach. She delivered three punches to its forehead before sweeping its feet out from underneath it with a swing of her arm. It ended up on its back. Another Putty ambushed her from the side. It gave her three kicks to the stomach. It backhanded her across the cheek. It slapped her upside the head. She shoved it away. She backflipped when it attempted to backhand her. It rushed its fist forward, only for her to catch it in her hand. She kicked it in the stomach three times before flipping it over on its back.

Trini punched a Putty in the face and grabbed its arm. She twisted it hard, and it garbled in agony. It slipped its hand into her hair and jerked her head back, making her lose her grip. It let go of her. She rubbed her head as she emitted a quiet wince. It punched her in the stomach. It backhanded her in which it sent her stumbling off to the side.

Trini recovered just in time to see the Putty throwing a punch. She caught its fist in her hand. She twisted its arm behind its back. It swung its other arm at her head, only to miss when she ducked. She returned to her full height and put her foot on its backside. She shoved it into a bush. It turned around and made a charge for her. She jumped over its head, causing it to collide with a medium-sized boulder. She landed gracefully and spotted another Putty coming her way. She headed for it.

Three Putties made their way toward Billy, who backed away from them. He shuddered badly before swallowing hard. His body was shaking so much that it seemed it wouldn't stop at all. They waved their arms about as they moved from side to side. Another Putty did a front flip and landed behind him. The first one charged at him.

"Wait," Billy said, taking off his glasses as the Putty came to a halt. He put them in his overall pocket. "Okay."

The Putty resumed its charge. Billy moved out of the way, causing it to hit a bush. It flipped over the bush, landing on its stomach. The second and third Putties tried to grab him. He dove for the ground in which they collided with each other. He jumped to his feet and attempted to punch one. It caught his fist in his hand. Another Putty grabbed him by the legs. They pulled him backward. They tossed him, and he landed on his back.

Kim kicked a Putty in the chest before punching another in the nose. They let out angry gibbers and gave her three hard kicks to her stomach. The first Putty took hold of her hair and jerked her head back. She cried out in pain. It let go of her. The second Putty backhanded her across the cheek. They grabbed her arms and threw her. She landed next to Billy.

Trini held up her arms to block two Putties throwing punches at her. She grabbed their arms and smacked them together. They pulled themselves out of her grasp. The first Putty uppercutted her in the neck three times. The second one mimicked its companion. They went behind her and spun her around. They kicked her toward Billy and Kim. She fell on her back close to the latter.

Zack attempted to punch a Putty, only for it to catch his fist in its hand. He tried to pull away, but its grip was too strong. It delivered a series of punches to his face, followed by kicks to his stomach. It took hold of his arm with its other hand. It twirled him around five times before releasing its hold on him. He stumbled and fell on his side next to Trini.

Jason backflipped as a Putty tried to leap at him. It landed on his stomach, but it jumped to its feet very quickly. He aimed his fist at its face. It deflected it with its hand. He attempted another punch, getting the same result. He made four more attempts to punch it, but he was blocked every time. It kicked him in the stomach. This caused him to stumble backward, but he stayed on his feet. He was grabbed by two Putties. They pulled him forward, throwing him into the air. He hit the ground on his back near Trini.

Tommy ducked when a Putty rushed its fist forward. He returned to his full height. They turned around to face each other. He gave it three uppercuts to the neck. It gibbered angrily and slammed its fist into the back of his head. This knocked him on his stomach. He rolled on his side. It punched him in the head five times. Three Putties took hold of him, forcing him to his feet. They tossed him into the air. He hit the ground on his side near Kim. He and the others sat up. They gasped fearfully, their bodies shaking badly.

"This day is too weird," Kim yelled, whimpering softly.

"What do we do now?" Trini asked, biting her lip.

"Zordon said these Power Morphers would give us power," Jason said, pulling his Morpher from his belt. He looked at the others. "Let's do it."

Tommy, Kim, Trini, Billy, and Zack mimicked Jason with their Morphers. They stood up, putting them out in front of them.

"It's Morphin Time!" Jason commanded.

"Dragonzord!" Tommy yelled.

"Mastodon!" Zack called.

"Pterodactyl!" Kim summoned.

"Triceratops!" Billy said.

"Saber-tooth Tiger!" Trini added.

"Tyrannosaurus!" Jason shouted.

"Power Rangers!" the Power Rangers called and went into fighting stances. They rushed for the Putties.

Zordon and Alpha watched Jason block a punch from a Putty with his arm on the Command Center's Viewing Globe. They saw him take hold of its arm and flip it over on its back. He ducked as two Putties attempted to grab him. He turned around and jumped, giving them kicks to their backs. They flew forward, colliding with the ground.

"Not so tough now, are you, Putties?" Jason asked while landing gracefully.

Alpha chuckled as Tommy and Kim deflected kicks from Putties with their hands. They grabbed the Putties' arms and twirled them around five times. They let go of them. The Putties collided with cacti. They fell on their sides. Tommy and Kim saw two Putties coming at them from the sides. They turned back to each other. He held out his hand.

"How about a dance?" Tommy asked.

Kim took his hand. "My pleasure."

Tommy twirled Kim around. He kicked the first Putty in the chest, as did she with the second one. The Putties ended up on their backs. He released his hold on her. Three Putties charged at them. They jumped into the air, doing forward flips and landing gracefully. The Putties crashed into bushes. They flipped forward in which they landed on their backs.

Billy and Zack chopped two Putties in their necks. They elbowed them in their noses when they tried to slam their fists into the backs of their heads. Three Putties charged at them. They jumped through the air. They twisted their bodies to where they were facing their backs. They landed as the Putties came to a stop and turned around.

The Putties garbled angrily and rushed for their targets. Billy and Zack kicked their feet out from underneath them. This threw them on their backs. Billy caught a Putty's fist in his hand when it threw a punch, as did Zack with another one. The Putties attempted to pull away, but it was to no avail. Billy looked at each other, big smirks forming on their faces.

"How about a double whammy, Zack?" Billy asked.

Zack chuckled. "Oh, yes."

Billy and Zack twirled the Putties around six times before letting go of them. The Putties collided with each other. They ended up in a heap on the ground. Billy and Zack came together.

"I hope those Putties enjoy their nap," Billy joked with a snicker.

"Oh, yes," Zack said, crossing his arms.

Trini delivered a chop to one Putty's neck and backflipped out of the way of another leaping at her. Two Putties grabbed her arms. A third gave her hard punches to her stomach. She kicked it away from her. She jerked herself out of its companions' grasp. She took hold of their arms and smacked them together. She flipped them over on their backs. The other Rangers gathered around her. The Putties stood up and came together. They disappeared quickly.

"That's what you get for messing with us, Putties," Trini said in determination.

"Stay with Rita where you belong!" Kim yelled in fierceness.

"Great work, guys!" Jason said as he and the others high-fived each other.

Zack let out a soft chuckle. "I have to admit that was kind of fun."

"It does feel that way, but being a superhero isn't all fun and games. It is hard work. We must never forget that," Tommy said seriously.

"That is true," Billy agreed.

"I have to say that your suit has a pretty cool shield," Zack said, looking toward Tommy.

Tommy touched the shoulder of his shield. "It is likely due to my Power Coin being so powerful."

Alpha jumped up and down in much joy. He turned around and approached Zordon while raising his arms above his head.

"Zordon, they made the metamorphosis and defeated the Putties!" Alpha yelled in great excitement.

"Good. Teleport them to Downtown Angel Grove," Zordon instructed firmly. "Rita has sent down Goldar and another gang of Putties. They are terrorizing civilians in the town square."

Alpha nodded at him. "Right away, Zordon."

Alpha pressed two buttons. He went to the Viewing Globe, seeing the Rangers heading over landscape in their respective colors.

"I honestly believe they will be able to defeat Goldar and the Putties," Alpha whispered and tilted his head somewhat.

"So do I, Alpha," Zordon agreed. They continued watching the team head for Downtown Angel Grove.

Rita observed Tommy, Kim, Jason, Trini, Billy, and Zack going toward Downtown Angel Grove through the Repulsascope on the Lunar Palace's balcony. Squatt and Baboo stood next to her. She moved it east, seeing Goldar and thirteen more Putties terrorize civilians in the town square. She made an adjustment to it.

"Those Power Rangers may have defeated my Putties, but they won't be a match for Goldar," Rita hissed in much ferocity.

"They sure won't, your evilness," Baboo agreed while holding up a finger.

"He killed many of Zordon's warriors during the first invasion of Earth," Squatt added as Rita pulled back. "He destroyed many villages too."

"You and I were witnesses to a number of those raids," Baboo pointed out truthfully.

"Trapping Zordon in that time warp was the best thing I ever did," Rita said while flaring her nostrils. "It left him helpless to fight me if I returned."

"Unfortunately, he managed to choose a new team of fighters to confront you," Baboo mumbled sadly. "They happen to be teenagers."

"They may be teenagers, but they are fantastic fighters," Rita admitted with a snort. She swallowed hard. "With the exception of Billy outside of his morphed form, that is."

"Something tells me he has the potential to become as great a fighter as the others are," Squatt murmured.

"That won't happen when Goldar blasts those Rangers into space dust," Rita said confidently. "No way."

Rita went to the railing and grabbed it. She stared at Earth while gritting her teeth in a tight way.

"You Power Twerps think you can defeat Goldar? Well, you are in for a fucking surprise," Rita hissed in much maliciousness. "Once you are defeated, I will turn Earth into a wasteland and enslave humanity."

Rita tightened her grip on the railing as she flared her nostrils. She narrowed her eyes at Earth.
