This is just a random thought I had while I was writing this chapter. Since Tom Cavanagh is leaving the Flash, I wonder who will play Thawne, maybe they'll go back to the original guy, Matt Letscher, since I doubt they'll be ending the war between Barry and Thawne until the show actually reaches it's finale.
Thawne was currently standing in the Time Vault, trying to make sure these readings were right.
"No, this can't be correct. Gideon, are you certain that this is true?" Thawne demanded.
"I am afraid so Dr. Wells. While I do not know what is causing it, it does appear that the speed force is deteriorating and I'm afraid that it is highly unlikely that it will remain stable long enough for Barry Allen to reach the speed level needed for him to successfully open the portal in time." Gideon said and Thawne pounded the plinth in anger.
"Should I begin working on plans to create an artificial speed force for Barry Allen?" Gideon asked.
"No. That won't work for Barry. At least one created from the technology available in the 21st century. It could cause too many unexpected and problematic variables for Barry. However, it could serve as a starting point to reviving the actual speed force." Thawne said.
"Understood Dr. Wells." Gideon said, right as the room began to shake.
"Gideon, what is going on?" Thawne demanded.
"I'm picking up large amounts of negative tachyons in this area. Something is happening with the Negative Speed Force." Gideon said.
"What?" Thawne asked, however, before Gideon could respond, a bolt of red lighting struck Thawne right in the head, causing him to collapse for a moment as he suddenly felt another person in his head, fighting for control and before he even had a chance to put up a fight, he felt himself be overcome by someone else. Or at least he thought it was someone else.
"Dr. Wells, are you okay?" Gideon asked as the man stood up, a sinister grin in his eye.
"Yes Gideon, in fact, I'd say I'm better than I've been in a long time. And I want to know now that I am sorry about this, but I can't allow Barry to use you as a resource any longer." Thawne said, his voice darker and graver, a sick grin on his face as his hand started vibrating and red electricity began to surge down it.
"What are you?" Gideon began, only to halt as Thawne plunged his hand into her plinth.
"Consider this the price of your treachery Gideon. And who knows, maybe once the Flash is dead, I'll consider forgiving and rebuilding you." Thawne said sadistically as he watched the AI be destroyed before removing his hand and looking over at his suit on it's mannequin.
"Time to let Barry know that he's lost his advantage. And that he should've taken me out when he had the chance." Thawne said as he put on his ring, sucked his suit into it and then sped out, intent on finally accomplishing his goal and erasing the Flash from history.
Barry was wondering why Thawne had hit his panic button to get him to Star Labs, since as far as he could tell, everything seemed fine. Or at least they did until he arrived at the Cortex to find him standing in front of the compartment that had once held his suit.
"Dr. Wells, you can walk." Barry said, wondering what was going on as he secretly slid his own ring onto his finger and right now, he was very glad that Joe, Iris and Wally were still in Keystone visiting Francine.
"Please Barry, spare me the theatrics." Thawne said as he turned to face him.
"Excuse me?" Barry asked.
"Oh please Barry, you and I both know that you already know who I am. And I have to say, I'm disappointed with you. You had me at your mercy, completely unaware that you were onto me, but you didn't take it. And now it's come back to haunt you, since let's just say that you've lost your advantage." Thawne said and Barry realized what was going on.
"Thawne." Barry said.
"Direct from Earth One. Do you like my face?" Thawne said, perfectly mimicking what he'd said after they'd first met each other again during the Earth X invasion.
"You should've run away when you had the chance." Barry said.
"I was going to say the same thing to you." Thawne said.
"You know I'm not afraid of you anymore. I haven't been for a long time. And after what you did, well, you're the one who should be afraid." Barry said.
"But you sure you have the speed to waste." Thawne asked with a grin and before Barry could ask what he meant, Thawne raised his hand with his reverse flash ring and Barry barely had enough time to raise his own hand as they both released their suits and sped towards each other, their suits, clashing against each other and were knocked back and on to their respective speedsters just in time for the two of them to slug each other with fully charged lightning punches at high speed, sending them both flying back.
"Let's take this outside." the Reverse Flash said as he sped out of the lab, the Flash behind him close pursuit.
I know this was a shorter chapter, but honestly, how could I not end the chapter there?
