Dark Ocean-Lighthouse
Well, this is simply great "Gennai" was brooding to himself. It was such a simple…well maybe not simple but doable plan. Break into the college, get the kids, have them battle it out with the dark one, have the battle unleash enough energy, resurrect his lord, and bye-bye Hope and Light Crest. It would have been all in a days' worth of work had that child not decided to play hero and sacrifice himself to the others could get away. After he had so painstakingly used most of his energy to create a gate that could hold the brats and their partners; all he had to show for it was an unconscious boy that WOULDN'T STOP GLOWING YELLOW! Maybe if he hadn't used so much energy to keep the common folk away from the room so they wouldn't muck it up, he might have been able to get a better handle on this matter. Now, not even Devimon could touch the boy.
Ugh this isn't how it was supposed to work. At this rate, the boy's energy will run out and the girl alone won't be able to give me the fight I desire. Going back again isn't an option either, he didn't have the energy to take the rest of them back to this area. Getting Devimon to do it also wasn't an option. Not only did the Mon not have the ability to, "Gennai" needed him hear for his grand , even if "Gennai" wanted to head back out; he knew his counterpart would be able to track him this time and he didn't have time for that level of distraction right now. Think, think…calm down and think this through. His eyes widened in realization and flashed a dastardly grin that no one could see.
"Devimon, we're going to have some company soon."
The Real World-Kari's College
"Kari…Kari…KARI!" Gatomon was shouting trying to get her partner's attention. Kari was too zoned out to notice from the shock.
"T.K." Kari was mouthing. Meanwhile Patamon was on the floor looking down at the ground quite depressed from the recent events.
The whole world was numb to Kari when all of a sudden, she felt a slight sting on her cheek which helped her come back to reality. When she looked up, she saw her partners face, Gatomon was crying now. Hmf, I must be a really lousy partner if Gatomon would slap me like that she thought gloomy to herself.
"Kari, this isn't over yet" Gatomon cocked between sobs. "We can get him back. We just need to figure it out like we always do." Normally in this situation, Gatomon would have reverted back to a previous form due to her partners condition, but she HAD to keep it together, for both of their sakes.
"She's right" Patamon said as he was looking up. "T.K. would want us to be brave so that's what I'm going to do. Even if all hope seems lost, I will always look for a way to get him back" he continued with tears in his eyes.
Kari was able to stand up from hearing the Digimon's convictions. "Well, I thought I was supposed to be the grownup here, but I guess I still got a lot of growing up to do. Thanks, you two, really it means a lot to have you all hear with me. I don't think I could have done this alone."
But that did beg the question, what was the next step. She could try to contact Izzy to have him try to contact Gennai…if he was even at his office. With Tentomon pretty much being confirmed gone by now, she doubted that would be the case. The next thing she could do was to contact Davis and the others. Let's see…she figured that they could get to her in a couple of HOURS?! Nope that wouldn't work she needed something quicker than that. It looks like it would be up to the three of them to get T.K. back but HOW?
"Kari" Patamon said while starting to take flight. "We've been to this dark ocean once before; don't you think we can use that connection or something to try to go back?"
"Well…maybe?" Gatomon chimed in. "Ken did create a portal to that world before, we might be able to do the same."
Kari shivered at the thought. She remembered how hard it was for Ken to open the gate. It had taken a big toll on his mind has he was forced to relive all his darkest memories. As the Crest of Light bearer who knew what dark thoughts could do to her and Gatomon. Last time she had felt such despair she unwittingly created a monster.
Still time was short, and she didn't have any options. She thought on this idea a bit more. Well in theory it would be possible to recharge the gate that "Gennai" had left in the computers, but they would have to act NOW. This was going to suck.
"I think it's doable" she spoke to the two Digimon. "However, it won't be easy. Though, if Ken as a child could do it, I'm sure then I'll be able to do it without a problem." The last part was a bit of a lie she realized.
"You two, get behind me" Kari said and the two complied.
She put her Digivice towards one of the computers. Well here goes everything, I'm coming T.K. She had some idea on the steps to take and she grit her teeth.
She let herself feel anger she denied herself for so long. Anger at herself from when she let Nyaromon turn into Ophanimon Falldown Mode. Anger at Tai for when she thought he died years ago and how he could just leave her with unfinished business. Next came the anger for her best friend. HOW COULD HE NOT ASK ME OUT ALREADY? Instead, he would have rather dated multiple women at once then experience the love of someone who genuinely loved him.
The computers were lighting back up and a purple-pinkish glow was surrounding the trio. She was so caught up in opening the gate she had no idea she had been screaming from the shear stress of trying to open the gate.
"Hang in there Kari, we're almost through" Gatomon yelled.
"T.K. I'm coming" Patamon said with conviction.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" Kari let out one final scream and the next moment she felt her feet wet. She gasped at the sudden sensation and she opened her eyes weekly. They were back, in a dark world where little light escaped. Standing (or in Patamon's case flying) in the middle of an ocean that surprisingly wasn't that deep for how vast it expended.
"Phew I NEVER want to do that again" Kari said aloud seeking down on her knees for a second. "Everyone okay?"
"Now let's go save that idiot" Kari said.
