Jessica's dark hazel eyes stared wildly at Kilgrave, her face almost robotic as she carried out the command. She didn't move a muscle, only stared forward from the request. Kilgrave's eyes widened in shock as he watched Jessica. The room fell silent and Kilgrave didn't take his eyes of Jessica.
His mouth fell open and turned from a look of shock to realisation and he grinned, letting out a small laugh, his face delighted with the results. He couldn't believe it, he wasn't sure if he was just imagining it. He had assumed that the fourth solution wouldn't work like the rest and there was only a slither of hope inside that it would.
"No, it's can't be" he whispered and he leant forward, staring deeply into Jessica.
Jessica said nothing as she continued to follow the command. She gazed into his deep chocolate eyes, her face still without expression.
"Oh my god, I can't believe it" Kilgrave whispered, turning to Dr Louis.
"I think we have a cure" he smiles and Dr Louis takes the bottle, inspecting it and noting it down on his paper.
"Oh Jessica" Kilgrave moves his hands to cup her face, his cold fingers brushing her cheeks and she doesn't move.
"Come on, give me a smile" he says with joy. Kilgrave had been waiting for this moment and now he was finally going to have it. He was finally going to have his Jessica back.
"Fuck you" she whispered and her face turned to a grimace, her eyes narrowed and mouth turned in disgust. Kilgrave's expression softened and his eyes narrowed with confusion and before he could say anything, Jessica pulled her head back and thrusted forward, heading butting him in the face, sending him back.
Kilgrave slid across the floor, his shoes squeaking on the polished ground and his body landing with a thud. The force from Jessica' head butt broke the skin and blood was leaking out the cut, dripping down his face. A groan escaped his lips and he reached up to touch his head, wincing from the pain. The force from Jessica's head butt brought on an intense headache only seconds after she had hit him. Kilgrave sat up, glaring over at Jessica.
Jessica leaned her head back against the bed, pleased with her acting. She was never under his control. She pretended to be under his control so she could do that, the only part of her body available to cause pain was her head seeing as she was cuffed and strapped down. She knew the instant she showed any submission to Kilgrave, he would take his chance. She knew exactly how to play him.
Dr Louis stood with shock as well, not moving as he watched the girl throw a man across a room with only her head. He'd seen her powers when she was younger but nothing this extreme.
"Look's like you failed once again…Kevin" Jessica taunted, using the name he hated so much.
Kilgrave wasted no time in scrambling from the floor and storming over, grabbing Jessica by her throat and pushing her back on the bed. A startled choke erupted from Jessica and she pulled against the cuffs.
"You're going to regret that, the second I can control you, I will make you pay for everything you've done" he snarled quietly, his voice sinister and cold, his eyes blood shot red and filled with fury. Jessica choked as she could barely breath and the veins started to pop in her neck.
"G-good lu-ck with t-that" she struggled for air and the grip on her throat tightened, the blood supply to her face stopping and her cheeks turning purple. The beeping on the monitor rose quickly and Dr Louis turned with panic.
"Shit, you need to let her go" he ordered Kilgrave but he ignored the doctor.
"Maybe I should find that sister of yours then… I'm sure you'd behave if her life was on the line" Kilgrave threatened.
"You're going to kill her" Dr Louis tugged Kilgrave's arm only to be shoved back by the mind controller.
"Shut up" he shouted and Jessica's eyes started to roll back. Her vision became blurry and she could barely breath, her lips turning blue and her hands writhing at the cuffs. The light around her started to turn black and her fingers shook.
Kilgrave suddenly let go of her, his hand pulling back and Jessica lurched forward, sucking in as much air as she could, her lungs heaving as she caught her breath.
Dr Louis rushed over, checking over Jessica to make sure she was okay.
"You alright" he asked and she coughed, shaking her head.
"Do I look okay" her voice was croaky and she coughed again, almost retching. Dr Louis clicked a button and the bed moved upright, bringing her body into a sitting position.
Kilgrave stood silently, watching with wrath.
"Deep breaths, in and out" Dr Louis said calmly, glancing at the monitor to see her blood pressure dropping and her heart rate becoming steady.
Kilgrave turned on his heel, stomping out the room and slamming the door behind him.
…
Jessica rested in the bed, her neck sore and covered in red bruises along with her arms that were covered in black bruises. She had never seen Kilgrave this angry before. The only other time was before she had killed Reva when she didn't come back to him and she left him to die.
Kilgrave never really got angry, only frustrated. He always just used his power to compel someone to either hurt themselves or someone else if he was ever annoyed. Jessica would be lying if she said she wasn't a little scared. She almost died then and there and if it hadn't been for Dr Louis, she could have easily departed. She felt selfish in the thought that dying may be the easy way out. She would never be controlled again. But if she was gone, there would be no one to stop Kilgrave and he would surely reek havoc on anyone else… including her sister.
Jessica had no idea where Kilgrave had stormed off to. She prayed that he wasn't going to act out on his words about her sister. Trish meant everything to her and she'd die if something happened.
She felt good in the fact that none of the 'cures' had worked on her but it didn't mean to say that they weren't working on something. Like Dr Louis said, they would need to build it up to ensure it would be permanent.
The sound of the door opening softly brought her attention forward and she watched Dr Louis enter inside, his paper work in hand as he trailed over to her.
"How are you feeling?" He asked as he settled down next to her at a small desk.
"How do you think I'm feeling" she snarled and he sighed.
"Look I'm not here to hurt you, I'm just as concerned about you as you think, just because I'm helping him doesn't mean I don't care" he says as a matter of fact but Jessica scoffs.
"If you care enough for me then help me out of here" she growled.
"You know I can't do that" he mumbled as he started on the paperwork.
"I don't get you, how could you help someone so sadistic, someone who rapes woman under his control and murders people because they say the wrong thing" she glares over at Dr Louis.
"I don't get involved with what he does, I'm only here because I'm a doctor" he murmurs, not looking up.
"A doctor who tortures woman and creates cures so they can be controlled and treated like slave… yeah you are some doctor" Jessica turned away. She didn't even want to look at him. She felt disgusted by him.
Dr Louis sighed, dropping his pen on the table and rising from the desk, the chair scraping behind him and he padded over to her bedside.
"Jessica, I promise I'm not a bad guy, if I could help you I would but if I go against him he could hurt my family" he whispered, pleading almost for Jessica to understand his point of view.
"So let me help you, no one can get rid of Kilgrave except me, he won't hurt your family if you help me defeat him" she says. She wouldn't let his family be in danger because her ex-controller was obsessed with her.
"How do you know that, he may have someone commanded already to hurt them if I go against him, I don't want to take any chances" he says with a frightened tone.
"If he dies then the control should wear off, they won't be able to act on it".
"You don't know what he's capable off, what's he's done to me, he made me do things that I should be in jail for, he made me kill innocent people, use my powers for his own pleasure. He raped me every single day since the day I met him, not just my body but my mind. I was like a puppet being held on strings. You don't know what that's like, being under his control twenty four seven. It's fucked me up and I'll never get my old life back" Jessica looked up at Dr Louis with sadden eyes, a tear almost coming to the edge.
"If you help him with this cure, you'll be putting me through that again, I'll be nothing but a slave to him".
Dr Louis stared down at Jessica, his mind conflicted with whose side to take. He glanced over at the door, figuratively trying to decide whether to carry on helping Kilgrave or to help Jessica instead. He felt guilty for Jessica. He knew she wasn't lying about what she said. He could see the pain in her eyes as she told him what Kilgrave had done to her.
He felt more guilty from the fact that he had already given her this power when she was 10 and almost felt responsible for Kilgrave taking her under his control. If she hadn't of gotten these powers, he wouldn't off taken interest in her. If she found out he was partly responsible for her life, not only would Jessica kill Kilgrave but she'd kill him as well.
"Okay, I can't break you out, that will be too obvious but maybe I can slow down the process of the cure, give you time to find you're own way out" he whispers.
"How will you do that?" She asked.
"I'll just make excuses, say that we have to go slow otherwise you could become stronger, make it see like the faster we do this, the more it won't work" he explained, hoping that it would convince Kilgrave to slow down.
"Thank you, you don't know how much I appreciate this and afterwards I'll help you with money or whatever issues you have" Jessica was holding a promise.
"We just need to be careful" she assured and Dr Louis nodded.
